Actually, no, that one is not. The developers changed the veteran reward one in order to keep the collector's edition's version special, so there are two different Arachnos logos. (And only the collector's version is available on a cape.)

  3. Hi everybody,

I was looking at the IO sets available for my pet powers, and I noticed Commanding Presence's special aura IO that grants your pets placate and taunt resistance.

Except for Captain Mako, I can't remember any opponent ever using Placate against any of my characters. And yes, there might be the one rare situation where you really need your pets to finish off opponent A quickly while opponent B taunts them away, but I'd assume that aggro-ing my pets usually is what I want an opponent to do anyway.

So, why would one use this IO? Was it geared towards PVP, perhaps?

Thanks for any information on this,

  4. Also, you might want to create a new link to the game and add the -maxinactivefps 10 option in its Properties. (Change the number according to your hardware specs.)

This way, a client running in the background uses up less computing power and the client you are interfacing with runs much mpre smoothly.

  5. Hi,

since this is my first Dark Miasma character that exceeded level 20 (and is now closing in on 40), I'm unsure about which APP/PPP to take.

Thematically, Soul Mastery matches Dark Miasma. Also, I like the -acc from Night Fall, the stuns of Oppressive Gloom, and the graphics of Soul Storm.

Mace Mastery has Power Boost, however, and that power significantly boosts some other support powersets (like Force Fields). I wasn't yet able to try it out, but does Power Boost help Dark Miasma as much? Twilight Grasp's heal is already pretty impressive, and the mezzes and debuffs are nothing to sneeze at even without any boosts...

Would you say that Power Boost a good argument for choosing Mace Mastery for a nin/dark Mastermind?

    Am I wrong?
No, you'll need to do a bit of crafting. But it's not that difficult, really. There's only one single kind of salvage you need to collect (the incarnate shards), and once you have enough of it you can convert it as needed. (Granted, it might be faster to do certain TFs in order to get the components you need, but if you don't want to think about that, just play normally until you collected enough shards.)

Alpha components (or any incarnate components, for that matter) cannot be traded between players. (With one exception, you can't even transfer components from one of your characters to another.) Being incarnated is a very personal process.

    Object Aggro?

    Hi, everyone,

just a quick question: I know that destructibles (mission goals that need to be destroyed) are basically NPCs with a self-immobilize.

When I was standing near one with defensive pets, at first they did nothing (as I expected, since the object didn't attack me). But a few seconds later they actually started to smash the object to bits!

So, either even desks have hidden attacks with which they can attract the attention of my pets, or my pets are clever enough to realize that the boss apparently wants that object gone for good if he keeps standing there.

    Or what happened there?

  8. Hi everybody,

NSF's description reads, in part, "You can command one of your Ninja Henchmen to throw down a Smoke Bomb. [...] You can only use this power on a Ninja Henchmen." [sic]
The detailed info page lists NSF's effect as "Grants power Smoke Bomb to Genin", though.

Does this really mean that the power works only for the first tier henchmen? Or are Jōnin and Oni also able to get critical hits from this?

Thanks for any information on this,

    /Storm

    Hi everybody,

if you were to roll a /storm controller, would there be pitfalls in choosing either gravity control or electric control?

I'll pair up with a friend of mine who is going to play a dominator. One of us will probably be gravity control, the other one electric control. (I don't know which secondary he'll choose.) Unfortunately, I can't make up my mind which of the two sets I want to use.

I guess "protecting" your targets from knockback so that Tornado can hit them more often is a good thing, but AFAIK the holds from both sets include knockback protection.

Do you have any advice I should keep in mind when deciding which set to use?

    Thanks,

  11. Hi everyone,

    a quick question:

If a character missed the No One Left Behind badge in Roy Cooling's story arc, is there a way to get another shot at it? The Bad People, Good Intentions story arc doesn't seem to be available through Ouroboros, and Roy Cooling isn't willing to hand out the same mission more than once.

If I get another player to play the arc and take my character along, would I still get the badge if we manage to save everyone this time?

    Thanks,

  12. Hi, everyone,

right now I'm trying to recreate the original color of the heroside Electrical Blast powers on a Praetorian dominator character. (Being a dominator, his powers' original color is the villainous red, unfortunately.) I've tried several combinations but I wasn't able to get a perfect match yet.

Now, I could go on and make screenshots of all possible color combinations for a pixel-by-pixel analysis, but maybe somebody already figured this out, so I'd like to ask whether you could tell me which color combination matches the original heroside version.

(Or am I out of luck and the original version used more than two colors, which would make it unique but unable to be identically copied?)

Thanks for any information on this,

My suggestion is this: As long as you have fun playing your character, do not respec him unless you will also enjoy the respec process.

If your chara has serious issues, a respec can help. But don't feel pressed to respec just because you can now change a few percentages here or there. (Unless you really want to do the min/maxing, of course. Then, by all means, go ahed!)

Your decision should not have anything to do with upcoming new powersets, though.

Yes, the developers. (They might decide to change a few things from the way they are now before the set goes live, though.)

Strictly speaking, no power ever needs enhancement slots. They all do what they say they do in their description from the beginning.

Some powers benefit more from additional slots than others, but again, only the developers would know right now.

If this is a character slot issue, consider transferring your controller onto another server instead of erasing her. Otherwise, why would you want to delete one chara just because you want to create another?

I started on a low-populated server, and I don't really think the game will be very different just because there are, say, 50 instead of 500 people online. But for the record, at the moment I'm not planning to move my main charas onto the VIP server.

Since I really enjoy the game I want the developers to get the money they've earned. (I even decided not to use the discounted multiple-months-payment offer at first, but this may change once we can buy the veteran rewards ahead of time.)

So yes, I certainly intend to remain a V.I.P. customer.

    Not in one activation. The level up buff will only add one level per click. You would need an incredibly high recharge value to be able to stack this up to level 50. (-;

    Well, only time will tell.

  16. Okay,

I wasn't aware of the rather large difference in numbers between the HP boost and the regeneration bonus. Somehow I expected the two to be roughly similar in size, but if the regeneration value is that much higher, clearly the radial version will offer more survivability.

Regarding the barrier Destiny, since I'm softcapped for S/L/E/N and almost softcapped for F/C, all that barrier would give me is more damage resistance. Is that really more useful than rebirth's regeneration bonus?

  17. Hi,

just a quick question: The Alpha powers are said to affect all those of your powers that could be slotted with an appropriate regular enhancement; the Interface powers affect all your powers that could be slotted with a damage enhancement. So, I assume this means that powers which cannot be enhanced at all won't be affected by incarnate powers.

For example, the Nemesis Staff (or a Judgment power) will neither receive any Alpha bonus nor trigger any Interface debuff, and Ninja run won't let you jump higher or run faster even if your Alpha has a run or jump component, right?

    Thanks,

    10joy
  18. Hi,

I'd like to ask your opinion on the Rebirth destiny slot power. For a Willpower tanker, would you rather use the Core version (which increases your HP) or the Radial version (which buffs regeneration)?

AFAIK having more max hit points also directly increases all regeneration effects by the same percentage because regeneration always uses max HP as a base value. So assuming that I'm not yet at the HP cap, what other reasons are there to choose one or the other? Does it even matter?

Thanks for your opinions on this,

Hm... did the developers ever say why the willpower aura is that much weaker than the other taunt auras?

I assume it was already determined that this is not a bug?

  20. Hi everybody,

for my tankers I usually put one taunt enhancement into each of the attacks in my attack chain. A few days ago a friend of mine suggested some improvements to one of my characters, and he seemed to be surprised that I even used those enhancements.

Would you say the inherent gauntlet taunt is sufficient for a tanker to function properly, so taunt enhancements are indeed not needed except for actual provoke powers? Could this be dependent on the powerset? For example, I've heard that dual-blade tanks have a slightly harder time keeping aggro than other thanks...

Basically my question is, if I use just regular damage IO-sets and no taunt enhancements for my tanker's attacks, will his aggro-keeping abilities suffer noticeably?

Thanks for any information on this,

  21. Hi, everybody,

sorry for asking a slightly off-topic question, but I thought that maybe one of you could answer this:

New TFT monitors sometimes have a pixel (or sub-pixel) defect, being always lit or always dark. That kind of defect is introduced during production of the panel. If it's just one pixel the defect often is rather unnoticeable and usually doesn't limit the usage of the monitor. Such defects do not spread.

But sometimes pixels can get damaged later on, e. g. by a mechanical force. If that happens, at first maybe only a few pixels are affected. But this kind of damage does grow over time. More and more pixels next to already damaged ones will also stop working.

I wonder what causes the second type of pixel damage to spread to neighboring pixels. Do the defective cells leak anything out? Is there some kind of domino effect going on?

Does anyone of you know? Thanks for any information on this,

  22. Hi,

I'd like to know whether there's a way to replace the mouse "click on the ground to choose a location for your power" controlling method with a keybind.

Usually I'm controlling the game with both hands on the keyboard and pick up the mouse only if I need to open a door or when I want to use a power that requires me to select a location, like teleport. (Oh, btw, is there a keybind for "open door/enter mission"?)

This works fine for characters that don't have many location-based powers and rarely use them, but there are a few sets with several strong location-based powers. Gaining access to incarnate pets doesn't help to alleviate the issue.

So, what I'd like to have is a key bound to "choose the ground around my targeted enemy as a location", or "choose the ground directly in front of me as a location".

Since I believe such a keybind might not be possible, I had another idea: It would be nice if I could just bind a key as my primary mousebutton. Then I'd place the mouse cursor to slightly in front of me when I login a character, leave it there, and could summon pets without using the mouse by just pressing the keyboard combination for "primary mouse button", selecting the space in front of me for the pet-summoning power.

Is it possible to bind keys for the functions I described, or is there another way to replace mouse-controlled location selection? Thanks for any information on this,

  23. Hi everybody,

I'd like to know whether it'd be a good idea to create a second build for my WP/DB tanker who intends to visit that world's largest unicellular organism, the Hamidon. (I heard that the Pasadena family has severed all ties to him after that Tanya incident, so I guess it's okay to leave out his last name?)

Of course he won't go alone; we're putting together a full league for the visit. There will be five or six tanks, and we will have several empathy defenders. But while I've participated in a few Hamidon raids I've never yet done so as a tank.

Right now the character is slotted for defense set bonuses. AFAIK defense doesn't really help against Hamidon, though, so I was thinking about building for regeneration instead. Would that help? Or would you suggest yet another approach? Do set bonuses even matter against that enemy?

    Thanks for any suggestions,

  24. Hi everybody,

I'm asking this question for the back story of one of my characters: What does a regular Primal Earth citizen know of Praetoria?

I'm pretty sure the average Primal Earth citizen will know that someone tried to invade "the" Earth. The attacks by giant war machines certainly will have been covered by news shows on television worldwide.

But if they didn't get to experience an attack firsthand (and didn't hear Emperor Cole's speech), would they know that the attackers call their world "Praetoria"? Would they know the leader of the invaders is named "Emperor Cole"?

What I'm aiming at is this: Let's say a regular Primal Earth human with no real super powers suddenly finds himself in Praetoria. He will have a feeling he's not in Kansas any more, and he might not like Praetoria very much once he realizes he's not really a free citizen over there, but would he be able to realize that this is the world that invaded his home?

    What do you think?
