  1. Once you get used to the tablet... you'll never go back to the mouse.

Also, what soft are you using?

    Work sketches

Thank you for the thumbs up^^

Got 2 more sketches done (not on lined paper this time )
Glaciers - Ice Armor/Super Strength Tank
Glaciers - sitting on an ice throne
I'm itching to colour the Ice throne. Not sure how but I'm going to try to give that clear, transparent effect to the ice. If anyone has any tips on that, feel free to spoil me...
  3. Already there is a better sense of proportion in this one! Progress in motion, right there!

May I ask if you clean the pic up before or after the scanning? It seems you clean it up with the mouse, which is hard to do. Therefore the lines seem to be a tad inconsistant and a little wobbly.
If I'm correct, I'd suggest cleaning the drawing up before you scan it with a black thin pen. Then erasing the pencil under it.

If I'm wrong, pay no attention to my dribble ^^

    Edited for accuracy!

    xD

Either I really sound like a [censored] or I really need to change my avatar
  5. ^^

It's all good, you posted your first pic.. that's like the first brave step won!
  6. :O

    Kawaii!

I like the socks and the hands especially, since they convey depth.

2 things spring to mind at first glance:
    -Proportions
    -Shading

For the proportions I allowed myself a little draw-over. Hope you don't mind. Construction lines and the use of basic shapes always help keep stable proportions.

And for the shading, find a light source anywhere around your chibi and imagine how the light would "rest" on the character and where the shadows will emerge. That would just add a more profound touch of depth.

    Hope this helps

Oh and nice one for drawing and posting the result up! I hope you had fun doing it and that you'll do much more!
  7. Photobucket > imageshack

Edit: photobucket is free and reliable.
  8. You should make more. See where that brings you ^^
  9. Suck?
    No.

Actually, I lawl'd very much at the first comic And I'd be interested in reading more!

Just a suggestion. All text would be better off in Caps

..and there I thought you were only a writer. I stand corrected. ^^
  10. I can't add anymore to what's been said in terms of praises for your progress, Catz. I'm just delighted to see to had fun doing those ^^

For C&C's sake, I'd say relax your wrist. It seems you still are very tense holding your pencil. The lineart is very rugged.
I hear a great exercise to do before drawing is to make a full page of ellipses and circles. Warms up and relaxes your wrist.

    You're doing great!
  11. Damn! I can't find that thread about the pros and cons of digital art and how programs are just tools and don't make you better if you don't have the fundamentals..

I have however found this, this and this!

I realized I sound like a broken annoying record!

    ..heh, good times
  12. My guess is Poser, then Shopped... But I'm just speculating
  13. >>Favorie des Muses.
It's the Creative Genius title from the French boards. SoulAsylum is my Mai 2006 conterpart

Great piece, as per usual, Souly ^^

I'm curious. How did you do it? I never achieve that kind of quality. I'd like to figure out how you got such a nice smooth feel...
  14. Black & White interpretation.

    I can see mistakes in it already <.<;;

    Feedbacks

    It's a valid view.

I don't completely agree though. This thread proves that forumites are willing to get better and help one another.

You have to consider that posters also have different lives as in work, school (exams), family and what not. Therefore some might post more during a certain period and post less during another. Which results in less overall views and posts in certain threads.

    ....

Without wanting to belittle this artistic community in any way, shape or form, this is not Conceptart.org.

I remember trying to be as forward and comprehensive as possible (considering english isn't my mother tongue and I seem to take things too litteraly) in a Thread. Giving as much feedback as I could. Only to realise that I might have come on too strong.

What I'm getting at is that, even though I am always happy and interested in receiving constructive criticism, I never expect to get too much of that here. Which can be debated to be a good thing. If I am looking for technical posts I'll head to Megatokyo*** (art forum) or Conceptart. I guess the general mood here is light and just, well, appreciative of what people see.

Which brings 2 questions to my mind:
Do posters really want to take things seriously by writing long and profound comments on one's work and make this forum a serious place? Or do they prefer to give short and sweet sugar-coated answers to keep this community fun and relaxed?

    Your choice really.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this. So I'll leave it at that.

There are though a few posters who always try to give constructive feedback like Blackdove or posters who try and share their knowledge to help others like Catz, to name but a few... So kudos to them.

*** The first ever forum I joined was Megatokyo. (The art section has nothing to do with the comic, by the way.) But they always push people to post work that was done in more than just 20 mins or so. They also frown very much upon feedback that just simply states "You have mad skills! This is awesome!!1" The result of this can be very constructive and beneficial to the OP. But also very ruthless...
  16. They're nice signatures! A bit large in height but very nice nonetheless!

    >> also some good places I could picture for my characters

Not sure I understand this. You mean like ideas of places in game where you could screen shot your toons?
  17. I hope I can do something for this. Not so much to aim for a prize but more because you already are in my to-do list.

Can we sticky this? *tickles Bridger* ^^

And will someone help me pull my finger out of my butt, it seems I became lazy-er than before?

    Work sketches

Thanks all for your kind words!

When I draw these at work, it's always a nice moment of total escapism from the sometimes mind-numbing, sometimes stressful routine of work, so thanks all for your screen shots. ^^

Lined paper it is... I must look like I'm taking notes in that notebook... ;p
  19. Is my English letting my down again?
  20. Agreed!

Maybe it's just me being obsessed with slender, thin drawn girls but I would say her torso is a little too "straight/stiff". No curves..
I really like the detail and love you put in the hair though!

    Keep 'em coming =D

    Work sketches

It really is the same story: work, coh, sleep, SPDA, work, coh...

I just don't draw as much as I'd like ^^; All I have to show for are these sketches done at work:
    GravMistress
    Frice
    Pyranha
    Fire Retrospective

Not sure if I posted this one before or not:
    Murusaki
    Sorry Hell's wing, haven't done anything more to it ><;;

    Just wanted to share =)
  22. I can certainly understand the deadline issue. Even though I have to say that, in my experience with pixel art, I find it to be very relaxing o_O;; could be just me ^^

I hope you and your friend will be able to get this project going as the time and market for pixel art' games is now.

I work in PopCap games at the moment and if there is any knowledge I can share with you, don't hesitate to ask, as we are developers as well as publishers.

Again, kudos to your pixel skills!
  23. Ok I'm interested.
Are you working in a mobile game company, by any chance?

Going through your pixel art again, and I can't help but think that you do.
  24. Diggin' the pixel-art. Some beautiful work there!
