I don't mind them lowering the requirement to 20. I theorize it has more to do with how Going Rogue is getting setup than anything else.
The epic is not powerful.
The epic is not accomplishment.
The epic is (supposed to be) the story.
I welcome all the people new to having Khelds and Arachnos characters. -
Quote:Yeah, it should only be red if full like the other notifications.I'm not sure. I think it was added at some point during the time I have been playing as an attempt to curb spam. I'd trawl the patch history on Paragonwiki but I'm lazy.
That one's easier to answer: until recently, email had few real uses other than spam, so you probably never had an occasion to try to send email from a sub-L10. When it became possible to turn it off, I did so immediately, and set that as my default. Now I'm turning it back on, because it has become useful again.
The red "Email" in the chat frame still bugs me though. I know I have email. I read it twice already: once when I sent it to myself and again when I received it from myself. You can stop telling me now. -

Here is my theory.
All too often they have popped the badge, freespec and costume tokens beginning on the same day. Then because a few years it came with an issue release and new powersets they had to listen to lots of complaints and re-issue the freespec later.
So they decided to hold off on all of it until next week and this way people wouldn't be hopping around logging in to get badges instead of hitting the anniversary events and checking out the new stuff for Issue 17. -

Quote:Wait a minute. Are you saying City of Heroes is still around? I thought it died 6 years ago when everyone quit.I love every time a CoH post pops up on Kotaku, or any other MMORPG post besides wow for that matter
some idiot always goes COH is still around? Or I didn't know this game still existed! or something dumb along those lines.
Of course you didn't know it still existed. Obviously you don't like the game, so why would you google it every day to find out if it was still around? An MMO doesn't die just because you don't like it... but everyone believes the world revolves around them, etc etc etc -
Quote:/em facepalmMine would have to be my in game wedding to my lovely wife.
Was a week before our real life one, and Founders was packed.
Pohsyb and CuppaJo attended 'in person' I do wonder occasionally if another dev or two were there incognito.
I cannot believe I forgot about that. I still have all the screenshots. -
My level 50 scrapper jumped into his radio mission and found PPD Peacebringers (like in the villain Peregrine Island mayhem) but I wasn't allowed to target them.

Quote:I saw new VEATs by the trainer in Mercy.Same here. And I want to play, not look them up and figure out what they all do. The good news is all four systems for gaming (3 desktop, one laptop) said they support Ultra Mode, so it's just a matter of playing with the settings. I did turn shadows off for a bit after someone made fun of my 30fps on a GeForce 275. Guess I do have one or two feelings left.
I love I17 so far. The new exploration badge descriptions are awesome. The realtime shadows are fun. Water's cool, when you see it. The ambient sounds are cool too (although some of the cars sound like rattletraps from a distance and remind me of the "bug clicking" fortune buff sound effect). I'm looking forward to the new arcs and a full Positron run.
I wonder if anyone made a villain yesterday that wasn't a demon mastermind?

So is a low FPS good or a high one? I was thinking high but I could have sworn I was in the single digits when I used /showfps 1 and got up to the 20s when I toned down some of my settings and I was playing fine. -

Quote:Agreed.I don't know why, but it's really comforting to know that, whenever the need arises, a community representative is usually on hand to jump in and lend a hand. I'm serious here. There was a time on the forums when I felt we were basically dumped here to sort ourselves out, but the red name posts have really picked up recently, and it makes me happy to see it.
Though I expect soon we won't be hearing a lot from some of the red names. I have to believe Going Rogue is about to drive them underground. -

My favorite memory is from CoV end of beta duking it out with Positron and Statesman.
My favorite in the actual game memory is a bit trickier. So many to choose from...
I guess it would be my first time in Independence Port and I beat some 5th Column on the street (this was before the Council take over) and he changed into a Warwolf. I wondered if they would all do this but he was the only one. Quite enjoyable.
Second I am going to choose my first trip to Brickstown with my level 30 blaster. This was before the change to Phase Shift and a level 50 Malta ambush was creating havoc on the streets. I was able to "taunt" them by being phased so they left the other lowbies alone until a level 50 was able to come and SK me up and we beat them down.
Third favorite memory was the first Halloween event with large Pumpkinheads strolling around Atlas Park and vampires, ghosts and werewolves popping out of the doors at me. -
Quote:For me, this is my main Ultra Mode problem. I don't really get what all those terms mean, do or what is really possible on my machines. That and for some reason my desktop is having problems changing the graphics in game but my laptop is fine.Turn off Ambient Occlusion. Watch FSAA suddenly work again.
It looks good on both which is nice but while I can play with the different settings on the laptop, the desktop goes ker-blooey. I am going to keep checking nvidia to see if they get yet newer drivers for the desktop (it is a 2 week old driver) and be very glad I almost always play on the laptop.
But I do know a lot of people are experiencing problems which are keeping them from playing well or at all so I hope the devs can get that fixed quick. -

You can only email inf and one item to a global email account so you would want to email it to your global name.
To: @globalname
Also you have to have at least some message text.
And you can only claim the item and inf on the same faction. -
Quote:I don't think Posi is wrong. I think it does depend on the new player's entry point somewhat. This QA is so much more informative than the other one already.
Posi is very wrong about new players opting to go to Praetoria, I suspect. If you're new wouldn't you want to start with the "prime" basics before going into the sequel?
Electric control being a distinct set makes me much more interested in it.
For example a new player from purchase of Going Rogue is almost definitely going to start in Praetoria.
Now where will they likely see most new players once GR is out? I would think it is GR. So I think he is correct.
Another way he is probably correct about it is some new players will know that Praetoria is new and shiny and a lot of people will avoid old for new. That's why we see so many products that are "New and Improved" instead of "Same Old".
And once a new player discovers that CoV and CoH means a choice of 5 ATs but Praetorian means 10, a lot of people would immediately choose more.
Plus he has the advantage of knowing how the startup screens and character creations are probably going to change. It may be a subtle draw but it is possible it could be setup to encourage starting with a Praetorian. -

Quote:A dash of love shown now and then is good. I know I loved our "get out of mez free" in going to Dwarf form. Of course the VEAT story arcs could use some love too but that is a subject for another forum. And despite what one may argue about color changing, I still think they could have thrown us a bone and allowed SOME animation choices like the solar flare stomp to the ground punch.

Quote:Your second point is probably the tech issue they cannot deal with (at this time) in which case there is no need for the first point.Firstly, I don't think Khelds SHOULD be given the ability to customize their powers due to the story of them... after all, they all have powers from the same source, why wouldn't they be the same color?
Secondly, Given the fact that Granite is not able to be customized... that might be related to Khelds not getting customization. Simply because they don't want to allow customization of Kheld powers until they are able to allow them to color ALL of their powers. Of course, here you will say that Stone Armor was given customization options... why not Khelds? Perhaps the aura color on the Khelds would be just as unchangeable as Granite is, and therefore the power colors wouldn't match the form colors... and that bothers the Devs.
But if it were merely driven off the first point, I would offer these thoughts.
No kheld has to take the Nova or Dwarf form, let alone both. What then explains that if we are all the same?
The nova form is based upon a life form Kheldians encountered living in a gas giant. Who's to say (the devs of course but have they) that that life form had no ability to affect a color change in their light?
The dwarf form is derived from creatures that lived on the surface of a very dense dwarf star. And these are even taken to that the black dwarf and white dwarfs vary by coming from neutron stars and pulsars. Why would those species be monochromatic?
Now I certainly would support no dark colors version of a PB or no light colors version of a WS based upon their history but there is no reason why (that I know of but Memphis Bill can correct me if I am wrong) a PB couldn't be a nice bright shade of yellow or orange and a WS be a hunter green or navy blue. -

I'm having issues on one machine but I would strongly recommend everyone make sure your graphics drivers are current. I was current back in closed beta and found out last night that there were yet again new nvidia drivers.
