HEY! If you do end up personalizing your arc further and would like me to take a look or try it out sometime, gimme a holla! /t @SupaFreak,
  2. Quote:
I dig it, especially if it could work with AE arcs.
Task Forces and AE arcs are my primary gripes with the current format.

I think about the possibilities and creativity authors could have with this...
  3. Quote:
I like it, except for the floating text. It already has its own tab (cutscene captions)...
Whoa, help me out here... you mean I can choose where those pop-up "talk" boxes appear? If there's a way, I wanna know!
  4. Quote:
The problem is, every time I have this great idea about a custom group or custom enemy that I want to create, I get discouraged by the fact that I must either make them too tough for a good chunk of the playerbase, or else they will be subpar on the rewards side causing a different segment to complain.
Personally, as long as the story and action are fun... I don't pay attention to rewards much. 85% or better XP (make sure you have it scaled to level range of arc people!) without exceeding 100% by too much is all I really need to not get too frustrated.

I know that "one" next power really isn't worth the reward for 10% boost sometimes...
  5. Got my first willing submission from in-game teaming... probably more to come down the line as I find time...

    Alignment: Hero
    Powersets: Broadsword / Regeneration
    Global: @Deatheater.
    Server: Guardian

    PEACE!
  6. I love Praetorian missions to death and we need more like those...

But I loathe being stuck in Praetoria cut off from the populace.

I've not yet run through all the Loyalist stuff and not sure when I ever will.
  7. This!

I bet you'd like it, right?

What? Awww, c'mon... most of ya teamed with me by now and know I'm a bit hyper!
  8. I thought I'd still be here 7 years later...

    Now THAT was goofy...
  9. Keeping it as simple as possible...

In my opinion: This aspect really, really needs improved for teams to help with the immersion.
I keep wondering: If this is an MMO, why are System Messages and Clues so restricted to solo notifications when they should be...

    Team-Friendly!
    Suggestion:
    1) Ditch the system message (those restricted to glowie grabber, baddie beater, etc.).
    2) Ditch the "Clue Found" notice.
    3) Create a Nav Text Box to display what the system message would on events & Clues (not including standard enemy defeats)

(every eligible team member would receive the notification)

Elements of this suggested Nav Text Box:
    1) Default colors are your speech bubble colors.
    2) Depending on where you place Nav, could be under or over or detatched(?).
    3) Where the newer "NPC Dialogue" can be presented for your character. (You know, the "I heard that" on earpiece text.)
*Note that special NPC dialogue can override the colors in those situations and will pause any present timer.
    4) System and Clue Notices will appear for 15 seconds.
*If you do not click on More, the window closes unless options set otherwise (see below).
*If you click on More, it resets the timer and goes to next page.

What happens when you click MORE?

(note the numbers 1 and 2 are for presentation reasons only, not suggesting they actually be present)

Paragraph 1 of Clues will be presented for 15 seconds.
    1) If there are two breaks in the code: <br><br>
*Another MORE button is presented for paragraph 2 and this process repeats itself until MORE cannot be presented.
    2) If there are no more breaks in the code:
*Stop displaying Nav Text Box until new event or Clue arises.
    • "Details" Timer could be adjusted in Options -> General
    • Auto-Accept "Details" can be turned on when timer expires in Options -> General
    • Could be turned off for Clues and System Messages, but not for NPC Dialogue.
    • Expands downward similar to Nav and mission requirements.
    • Clues Tab will still remain for you to read the details if you missed it or care.
Problem that has been bugging me with the current new NPC Dialogue (Issue 17?):
It is often placed in an area where I have something else and I cannot alter it's location.

So, how's about this? Good? Bad? Too difficult? Make sense? Need to be done? Need to be ignored?

Quality of Life, baby... Quality of Life...

    PEACE! (and Happy Gaming)
  10. Thanx for the verification of 50, Khellen (my apologies to anyone if that comes off untrusting or anything, but was in from day 1 to include bio as part of submissions). Your submission status has been updated.

Nope. If I can find time... I'm gonna tour the servers and camp where the Trials form to find willing submissions. (ooo, that sounds kinky)

And to ebon, thanx for another submission.
  11. Only read top half so far (lunch time), but I highly agree with the "Dev's Choice" comment. Either remove it completely or live up to the promises. Neglect isn't helping!

Suggestion I was going to make here soon:
So, we have Weekly Strike Tasks (and will probably later have Weekly Trials)
    How about:
    Weekly Architect Globals (random)?
    Example:
    During the month of July:
Week 1: Globals starting with @H
Week 2: Globals starting with @E
Week 3: Globals starting with @L
Week 4: Globals starting with @P
    (Whoa, that was random!)

Not sure if Globals can start with numbers (never researched or seen it), but if not... that's 2x per year for your Global to be spotlighted with some kind of nice reward for both parties.

    *edit narrowed and simplified*

I could kinda see a new button:
    "Accept Random Task"
    Quote:
Accept Gump: Warning! You are about to accept a Random Task for Bonus Rewards. If you do not finish this Task, you will not be eligible for Bonus Rewards for another 20 hours! Upon accepting this Task, no new team members can be added.
    Next, the System asks:
    Quote:
Choose Morality: Hero / Villain / Vigilante / Rogue / Neutral
Choose Length: Very Short / Short / Medium / Long / Very Long
System then randomly chooses from weekly global candidates with Final status (Lesser rated arcs will receive higher chance of being chosen)

I've got an idea on how authors could be awarded... but that'll hafta wait til later edit.

    PEACE!
  12. 1st. Son, based on the bio... I'm imagining Hero? Could be Vig or Rogue too, I suppose. Need to know which category to put you in.
  13. Okay, Irish Fury... I'm liking Knight-Archer AND Aniketos Pium's 2nd outfit... you've just created competition with YOURSELF!
  14. Meh, they have their place too. I do believe that. (Although, if they're the ones 1 starring story arcs, they're not really helping.) But it's story arcs that have mass amounts of time and effort put into them that inspire further creativity and display what Architect Entertainment's (and maybe the developer's) potential truly is.
  15. As you know, I played the arc (twice) and I feel it has a ton of potential to be a top tier arc. I'm personally not ready at this time to give great "break-down" reviews such as GlaziusF... but I wanted to chime in and say keep up the good work! We need more authors in A/E who are passionate about creating fun/memorable arcs!
  16. If you get to a night with nothing lined up and seems like randoms are in order, I would love a re-review of what I pray is a vastly improved Black as Midnight that you reviewed quite a while back.

I highly respect your opinion and reviews (I now playtest at +0/x2 w/Bosses) and a great amount of what you said altered the design and layout.

I would love to put a "Final" stamp on it, but there a few new experiments within I'm toying with and would like to know if they absolutely Fail or if they're okay. (psst, no shivans this time)

    Thanx in advance...
  17. Also want to add that I am happy to say that the first 2 selections so far should indicate that I am looking for submissions from both ends of the character/bio spectrum.

Future Shock's design and bio are simple (it's a compliment), but the name and look stuck in my head when I went away from Forums.

Shadeknight's design and bio are more in-depth (plus RP), and trust me I highly struggled between 5 in this category... but Shadeknight overall is the easiest fit into what I have planned... so that edged him out.

If I had a stockpile of Alignment Merits to award... Locks would be more frequent for those who are applying early and express interest!
  18. Chiming in to say updates are in order and Shadeknight from Virtue has been awarded a Top 5 Lock for final selection!

Please, do not think this is easy for me when there's so many awesome submissions to choose from!

And remember... Top 5 Locks are not guaranteed winners! Just guaranteed finalists that cannot be knocked out of the top 5 from their server's alignment category!

Anyhoo... congratz to @Hopebringer and I'll be sending an in-game tell soon.

@Ironik, I still have NOT heard from you!

If anyone wishes to pass on the reward, please tell me so that I may add an additional week inbetween for another Lock!

    Thanx and PEACE!
  19. Thanx to @BackFire, @Zamuel, @Chimp, @lizinohio, @FredrikSvanberg, @Geveo, @PW, @GlaziusF and anyone who provided me critical feedback or testing to get this to an enjoyable and close to "Final" status.
  20. Waddle has been added to the list. Thanx for submission w/bio!

[plug]Whether you did or not yet play the pre-cursor Hero arc yet and are curious what's been improved or what's it about, I updated the Black as Midnight (Preview) as of 5/18/11. Customs more balanced for solo and teams as well as much improved dialogue.[/plug]

    PEACE! (and happy gaming)
  21. I bet you're 21 again today, right?

*crafts birfday cake from purple recipe*

Was glad and honored to have you guys come out today to RWZ with us!

*lights 21 bacon coated candles with cookie shaped lighter*
  22. Thanx all who came out and express my apologies to those who couldn't fit on the two teams *coughKAYcough*... unfortunately we didn't have a representative high enough level to lead the missions I had selected which were higher level arcs in anticipation of some of Guardian's higher levels participating.

And to those that did team with us, I hope you weren't too disappointed with my choices and that you had fun and saw some of the brighter side of A/E. I'm sorry the A/E bugs tainted Zamuel's arc a little... but when it's fixed in future patch (crazy obscene profane/copyright bug) please try that again and you'll see why I chose it if the story wasn't enough.

Guardian rocks! I knew you guys were awesome and that's why the CoH deities had me select Guardian as home 7 years ago!

    PEACE!

    ?nvasion Plans

Thank you for the great write up, BackFire.

To me, action draws me into the story and I know I'm different from some of you on what I may choose. I did NOT want to disappoint the AE Superteam since I am the n00b around town.

What you said in the final line of "Fractured Dreamer" is exactly what drew me to it. I felt these type arcs/missions could easily replace the outdated early Hero arcs. I was trying to deliver something different to the AE Superteam as well as Guardian, since you guys have experienced the A/E more than I. While it may not be TF worthy, it's waaaaaaay better than Radio and old Hero Arcs. And to me, it deserves plays and feedback if improvements can be made.

I do believe the "Powers Division" single mission was a hit, based on what I was hearing. Crazy long title, but wow... I find that mission and customs fun. Plus the tech readout was original and memorable.

I know I said to Backfire and Zamuel, but I chose Zamuel's arc without him knowing until selection came... because I really enjoyed both arcs related to the "Dhahabu Kingdom" personally and not because it was one of our members. I asked Zamuel the other night how you guys may feel if I do select one of our member's arcs as a choice first, and it seemed as if it would be okay. Sure, he surprised me when he actually played my arc and gave me feedback... some of which I don't totally agree with and he could have slammed my arc and 1 starred it and I'd still select his.

Anyhoo... I had a blast... love your guy's company... hope I didn't disappoint... and be seeing you all soon!

    PEACE!
  24. Thread now irrelevent, started up seperate thread for updates and whatnot.
