  1. Some people hate to acknowledge it (NRg and fire blasters mostly), but Blizzard is the most damaging single power. It doesn't rely on criticals or +build up, or chance for anything. As long as the target is receiving all the ticks, its Blizzard. I have an Ice/Kin defender that makes a lot of fire and energy blasters angry cuz I out damage them with my tier 9. Plus, Fulcrum shift\ice storm\blizzard\pop a blue\transference and I am back to full end and no downtime. Not to mention siphon speed brings blizzard up all that more often.

If you wanna make people go "who just killed that whole group so fast?" only to find that you, a meager Kin/Ice defender raises ur hand, you should give it a try sometime.
  2. In terms of what 2 ATs make a great buddy system, a Stone/*** Tank and either a Kin defender or controller are a match made in heaven. Personally I would run a Stone/Fire (or maybe SS) and a Kin/Ice defender. Lack of damage in Stone? Meet fulcrum shift. Lack of speed in granite? Meet speed boost. Not to mention AoE damage, a target AoE heal in transfusion at lvl 1 (just in case the stone tank actually ever does takes damage), Blizzard and Ice storm (2 damage capped AoE drops with fulcrum shift).

Nothing can run away, plenty of damage, and all of your worries (speed, damage) in your tanker are gone. With those 2, you can pretty much do whatever you want, and if you decide to ever join a team of others, you bring a ton of help to the table.

The two sets separate are kinda fun, but pair them together it's a blast start to finish.
  3. Hey folks, I am starting to look into building a scrapper to take on some AVs solo, and was wondering if anyone had advice on which ones I should start with in my attempts. So, which AV did you find to be the easiest to solo, and which ones were the hardest? Thanks!

-If it matters I am using a DM/SR scrapper to try to take on my first AV, and the build is ready for it.
  4. *Bump*

I thought the previous post was an actual response, then i realized it was just changing my forum export formatting. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
  5. Sorry in advance for long post...(edited with correct formatting)

Hey folks, I have been doing some research on these forums and have found some help but was wondering if anyone would be willing to show me a demo build for what I'm looking for. Everything I have tried so far has been great defensively, and had more than sufficient DPS, but HORRIBLE endurance-wise. I have already used almost all of my respecs on this ton, and have 2 left, which means one respec for each active build.

Can anyone critique (probably drastically) my 2 builds? (willing to change almost everything, have heard some say to drop shadow maul and pickup shadow punch, but I'm not really a fan of the change, so if I can keep that I'd like to.)

I have numina and miracle +recovery already slotted in health atm on both builds, and am still having end problems. And my hope for the Power epic build is to be able to solo an AV. I am hoping to keep my cost under 1 billion, as I already have
Any help would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

Here is the FIRE epic build:

    Also wrong.

I fell victim to my first nerfed character before you had even joined the forums. Nothing has ever been nerfed? Tell that to my fire/ice tanker (Dreck farms anyone), my Spines regen scrapper (MoG Fail), and my AR/Dev blaster ('nuff said).
  7. I am looking for something that doesn't need a lot of investment, and I am thinking the damage difference will be partly made up for considering the damage boost with shield and the Aoe help given by Elec. I have played several scrappers lately and I think I would enjoy being "the tank" again. I just wanted to make sure that shield/elec is strong enough to be a reliable tank, that can handle pretty much anything thrown at it, if need be.
  8. I have been trying to decide on my next build, and have narrowed it down to the powersets but can't decide on which AT to play. What are the differences between the two? Can you make any recommendations? Thanks!
  9. Thanks for the advice. Yeah I am still thinking more about a 14 inch as my "final answer". Considering this has to be a general use laptop, I dont need Ultra mode support, or 100+fps. I just need something lightweight and portable to play the game at decent settings. I am looking at some Asus models that include a 9600m GS card, and I am thinking that as long as I have a card at that level or higher I should be fine.

This post was originally to give some sort of idea of what level of laptop graphics are necessary to play the game at acceptable levels. Any other posts as to what others use to play Co* would be very helpful!
  10. Cool. One thing I should probably mention is that I am looking for a nice, portable notebook. I am looking at 14 inch screens right now. I have seen a few that use the 9300 GPU and it seems that will be one of my best options.

    Any others, let's see 'em.

It would be nice to have a resource that tells people "this is what I have, this is how it runs"

It would definitely make finding the right machine easier.
  11. I am in the market for a new laptop. I am looking for a 14" model and the only real requirement I have is that it can play CoH smoothly, and hopefully with at least decent graphics setting (as in medium, not low). So with all the research I am doing on finding the right card, I figured I should just go ahead and ask.

So, what laptop/graphics chipset are you using and how is your performance on your settings?

Thanks for all your input, hopefully once I know I can finally pull the trigger on a new laptop!
  12. Ok, I had a post on here a while back about my fire/ice tanker build, and after taking some of your suggestions, I came up with a final build. I have tested it in several TFs, farms, and general missions, and finally feel like a true hero again.

In boss farms, I rarely ever see my health bar go into yellow (or even yellow green for that matter), but when I do, healing flames heals me for +850 hp and recharges every 14 seconds! In lieut farms, I dont get hit (I'd say 1 out of 20 hits me, no exaggeration), and in all other modes, I feel right up there with the stone tanks, invuls, and willpowers. I am loving being able to gather guys up and hitting ice patch so they cant run and then laying down a build up+burn (just shy of 500 damage each time).

All in all the build cost me about 800 million inf.

So without further ado, here's the build. Enjoy and thanks, and if you have any questions feel free to post. ***also remember this is a lvl 50 respec build, not how I would normally choose powers lvling up***

    Thanks
  13. That looks good, probably the only thing I really dislike about the build is no epic pool, as mentioned. But it ended up being that I would have to sacrifice ice sword, frost, and something else just to get fireball, so it didnt really seem to work out. Either way, the recommended build looks, good. I'll have to delve into it a bit more, but I think it has potential. If anyone else has any other recommendations, I would greatly appreciate it.

On a side note, is there any way to respec my build and be able to sell all of the Ios and sets I have in my build currently for market price? Or can I just keep 10 and sell them at WW's?
  14. Sorry, I should have mentioned, this is a lvl 50 respec build! Hopefully that will clear up confusion about must have powers taken abnormally late. This is me dusting off and respeccing my old lvl 50 toon. Please consider power selection, slotting, and enhancements only, not what lvl the power is taken.
  15. Ok here is the build I am planning on purchasing. Please let me know how it stacks up, and what things I can change. Thanks!

  16. I decided to dust off my tanker after its firing squad from the nerf gun, and needless to say I was pretty disappointed and a little shocked at just how BAD I was. I played with it a bit already but after reading some things on the forums, I realized my build was not quite what it should be, as I hadn't taken Build Up or Frozen Aura. I am trying to get something tanker-like again. I am not too worried about an absolute ton of damage (considering i am /ice), I just want to be able to get a large group of baddies taking swings at me and be able to take it. In my mids build I hit 37% defense to smashing/lethal and ranged, and I hit 70% resistance to the same groups. Any help and recommended builds would be awesome. If anyone can post a recommended MId's build, i would be VERY grateful. Oh, I have about 600 mil influence as of now to get this build started (and hopefully finished). Thanks folks!
  17. I am working on making the second of each AT, as I have gotten my first of each to 50, and am looking for something very different form what I ran the first time. My first defender is an Emp/Elec, and is primarily all Empathy. I am a great asset to a team with all my buffs/heals, but now I am looking for another route. I am looking for a set that can run solo if need be, something with high damage, but still be a decent team player. I would say my primary goal however is running missions solo...something I can't even fathom doing with my emp/elec in under an hour per single spawn mission. So high damage output, maybe mezzes if possible and a few buffs/debuffs would be awesome. I will admit I haven't really done a lot of digging into the sets as I normally do, but everyone on these forums seems to know what it would take me weeks to learn. Thanks for any and all suggestions!

Do not forget that with am and siphon speed your PA will be recharging alot faster than with /rad...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think there may be some confusion here...am AND siphon speed? Siphon speed is /kin, AM is /rad, can't have both...sorry. Also please correct me if I misunderstand.

I am rolling an ill/rad atm, lvl 41. So far I love it. One thing I have noticed (having already 50'd a fire/kin) is that /kin is MUCH less "click-intensive" than /rad. It's a nice change of pace from a frantic clicking with my fire/kin, or my katana scrapper. Both play styles are fun to me and it's nice to have a character to go with whatever playing style I feel like, but you may like one way better than the other. To each his own...
  19. I have a few questions regarding epics, slotting, and IO's. My ill/rad controller is now a lvl 41, and I am trying to decide between epic pools. Right now I am using fly as my travel power, and am looking for some suggestions on an epic set.

Also, I am thinking about taking super speed over superior invis or group invis, and adding a +STEALTH IO in it. Is there any difference between Superior invis and Super speed +stealth IO?

Last question, instead of group invis, I am looking into grant invis from the concealment pool. It has higher defense buff (than group invis), recharges in a fraction of the time, and I can pick who gets it (no more upset tankers and "ok gather everyone"). If I put a LotG +recharge in this power (grant invis) does it still increase my recharge ALL of the time? or only when I cast grant invis?
  20. Thanks for the pics guys! Keep em coming! I would love for this to be a reference for people to see AVs and Monsters Since i couldn't find a good source for all of these...THANKS!
  21. That would be great. I can't wait to see the pics...Hey while u all are at it, who is the big glowy dress guy found in a TF, supposed to be really hard...i saw a pic of him during that contest, but he was cool....just wondering.
  22. I am looking for some screenshots of various monsters and AVs in CoH... I have been trying to show some friends and am also interested in finding some of them for myself in-game. So if u can just mention the baddies name, where located, and any info u can briefly state along with the screenshot, that would be great! Thanks a TON!!!
  23. I havent checked in recently, and i apologize to all my big red ballers out there. BUT...Is it possible to just make a BRB a temp power... then the power can be made like a pet that accepts knockback. I like all the BRB ideas but i just want to make sure i have my OWN BRB so that some jerk doesnt come up and nova my ball into the water in talos, for me to chase it. It will be the new griefing...lookie lookie my brb is FUN woohoo, lvl 50 blaster sends my lvl 7 brb 3 miles out into the hollows. Boohoo! nah but seriously, it seems like a temp power BRB might be the easiest way, then everyone has one and they can do whatever they want with it. PS. anyone see wall ball tournaments, rules are that all travel powers must be off. "C'mon Strike Hawk! You can't teleport to the wall every time it touches you!"
  24. really i think everyone should have the option of the red ball, i would hate to be in the mood to play with the red ball, and some punk hides in between some dumpsters or something. Make Red ball a perma power, or a temp power one can purchase in stores/at npcs for say 100 influence and have it last a week or 3 days or something. I just want to be waiting outside a mission, and be able to play with my ball.. wow i never thought i would say that in a video game forum.
anyways the ball thing is a great idea, and if it was a temp power that expired, how funny would it be to see you bump the red ball, it bounces a few times then *BAM*, power expires hehe.
  25. When i saw this suggestion I was like "what kind of loser wants to put a ball in a hero game"...but...as i was reading the forum replies and picturing the great times we all could have with this ball, by the end of the forum i was smiling! ME?! Smile at the thought of a fun RED BALL?! NEVER, I shall Smirk with anger and hate for fun things in the CoX World!
Actually...its a great idea, i can just see myself losing sleep because i was on CoH, not due to a long TF or an impossible AV, no. Just due to that stupid red ball that i become addicted to! Lets do this, everyone petition the ball! I will make a BRB (big red ball) supergroup and we can really get this idea...Rolling! (ooh punmaster!) But one suggestion... make the ball eligible to be affected by all powers, even teleport and team fly! i can see it now, my controller with his ball and his imps flying around Paragon! We should all get a temp power for the 2 year anniversary for a red ball!
