Actually, I have been running an Emp/Ice defender solo without using any Vet powers and I was thinking the same thing. It occurred to me that removing the end use of those 2 powers might be helpful when I found that if I stopped using them I had fewer endurance problems (although I might have some health problems). Unless I really need to kill an enemy quick or I am just being impatient, I try not to use either power anymore (which is very hard, since Ice Blast only gets 2 single target attacks up until level 28).

Because nothing is more fun for the player of that melee AT than being the only (or at least the last) survivor of team-wipe they caused in their arrogance?

Don't like knockback? Slot sprint and press a movement key every now and then.

I have wormholed entire spawns out from under my SG mate's Arch/Devices RoA.

Not that I um ... have any /devices blasters or anything, certainly not a 50 ....
If only there was some other power in the game with a similar result, but much more team friendly.

Just so you know, I believe the stun is pretty iffy, 20% chance IIRC, however, the Knockback is guaranteed and is usually plenty to give you the needed time to resolve the situation somehow.
  8. How many slots do you have to spare for these last two powers?

Do you like to use your melee attacks, you already have three and Charged Brawl is a great addition, but only if you can slot it. Power Sink is a fabulous Endurance recovery tool; I would call it a must have, but some people attack less prolifically than I and find they can do without.

Lightning Clap is a decent control tool and doesn't require slotting beyond the base slot for an Accuracy.

    Finally!!!

    Yay! New Blood. Welcome world.
  12. I believe Shadowfall and Steamy Mist used to have movement penalties. Removing the -jump speed from MM Shadowfall must have been accidentally missed.

Have you started your EMP/ICE character yet ?
    How does that fair ?

I have. Level 5. Obviously, cake so far. Hard Drive is full, so I have to actually compress some video and make some new movies before I can continue because I want to try to video a bunch of the stuff until level 20.

    Vigilance

    [ QUOTE ]
actual belief that my team will actually follow me into the battle (usually the reason I tend to die)

    [/ QUOTE ]
I get that. I find that, usually, the team gets it after my second or third death and all of a sudden they start keeping up. Sometimes, they never get it, sadly.

    [ QUOTE ]
Even 30 seconds I start to get itchy.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Your patience astounds me.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Its very hard to convince me that 7 other people can enjoy HUGE rewards that I provide, but cannot also provide to myself.

    [/ QUOTE ]
When you make a blaster on your team unkillable with bubbles, you ARE providing HUGE rewards to yourself.

    [ QUOTE ]
WHY then is it somehow balanced that he can do JUST THAT to 7 other people in a team.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Some might say its not balanced.

    [ QUOTE ]
There is NO HARM in everyone soloing decently (Albeit at different capabilties) because TEAMING will ALWAYS be BETTER.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This is demonstrably not always the case, there are aspects of the game where soloing is "better". Also, all defenders already solo "decently", although I agree there is room for minor improvement.

    [ QUOTE ]
So I REJECT your notion of SOLO (team-agnostic) or SUPPORT (Team-reliant) and say that it is simply a fact of Game genesis.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I kind of like that there are some ATs that solo very well but only team decently, while other ATs team very well but only solo decently. The variety of experience is very nice. I like that there are powers that require a teammate to be useful, especially when those powers are as amazing as bubbles, Fortitude, and Speed Boost.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Shockwave and Focus aren't powers that are going to generate near-equivalent performance to an entire secondary.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I teamed with Iakona on Test with their Claws/Regen. People underestimate what can be done with Shockwave and Focus. Vastly.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Yeah I would pretty much lose faith in the AT if they went thru the powersets and instead of boosting sets like Empathy, we got Rad, Dark, Storm, etc... NERFED so they too could solo poorly. ::::Shivverrr:::

    [/ QUOTE ]
It would be more likely that soloability would increase, while team play might be curtailed some.

    Screw Rad blast

    [ QUOTE ]
I'm saying that based on past history there's no reason to believe blasters are unlikely to get a straight port of the 10% Life Drain. It's not overpowered by any stretch of the imagination.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Overpowered has little to do with it, IMO. Life Drain is not Blastery. That isn't a death knell for it, every set has something odd about it. I want Aim and I hope the Devs believe in its near necessity as well; the logical sacrifices would be Dark Pit and Life Drain. I'd like to see them both removed and Dark Obliteration and Aim added, but I could see keeping either Pit or Life Drain and just adding Aim.

    Vigilance

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Defenders tend to use less endurance on teams because they don't have to spend it all killing things. My Dark/Rad Defender has never had endurance issues on teams, not in Issue 1, not in Issue 7, not in Issue 15. Solo, though, he's always running out despite my slotting.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I think the real reason is because slow people delay the team inbetween battles, so you have more time to recover.

    [/ QUOTE ]
That could explain why my experience is mildly different. Most teams I am on move quicker than we should.

Yep would of loved therm and fire but instead we get Traps and AR??? whats up with that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

to me it's a toss up...

Emp/Fire is a combo i've wanted ever since I became the self-proclaimed Emeril Lagasse of Empathy...

TA/AR is a combo I've wanted since I realized how brokenly powerful the combination will be.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Empathy/Fire? What would your character name be? "Feel the Burn"?

    [/ QUOTE ]
The only thing I think I want more than Empathy / Fire Blast would be Empathy / Fire Manipulation (or Fire Manipulation / Empathy, depending on how an AT like that might be designed).

    Vigilance

    [ QUOTE ]
Im wondering if the people that complain about vigilance actually monitor their end redux?

    [/ QUOTE ]
I actually do not monitor it, but if my team fails to take damage, I can't help but notice that I run out of endurance. Its not a big issue at that point, since a team taking no damage is usually doing well enough that it won't matter if I have to slow down a bit on shooting stuff.

    Vigilance

    [ QUOTE ]
Green numbers are but one of a Defenders many vital uses and one of the only things Vigilance works for, to some degree.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I never understood the fascination people have with blaming healing for vigilance. Healing ruins vigilance. Enervating Field is an expensive toggle that is, hopefully, preventing your team from dying, but not stopping vigilance. RI is a cheap toggle that hopefully prevents vigilance, but if something goes wrong, it does not eliminate vigilance. Dropping Tar Patch and using DN and FS are all much easier with a bit of vigilance.

The single best thing about vigilance, IME, is being able to blast and blast and blast without worrying about my blue bar. That often saves a team health loss and endurance.

I just wish I could be a little vigilant about myself as well.
