One thing that I would find useful is a brief pointer as to what settings make the biggest difference? There seems to be a minefield of different graphics settings contained within CoX, and whilst some are fairly self explanatory, others make absolutely no sense whatsoever!

So what are the big hitters? What are the options that can make or break graphical performance?

I have an AMD 4000+ Venice, 1.5GB RAM, a SATA150 HDD and an AGP NVidia GT6600. Current settings mean that at best, I get about 35fps solo, but this can go down to 10-15 in a team.

Seeing as the artistic juices are flowing amongst us graphic noobs I thought I'd join the fray by posting my latest attempt. He's my Fire / Axe Tank "Viking Furnace"

I like the idea of a group on DeviantArt - bit like an "Artistically Challenged Support Group". Of course the word "Deviant" is soo similar to the word "Defiant" which has an added bonus

Agreed - playing my fire / axe tank this morning on a team as a scranker rather than a tanker was superb fun. End is a problem - but a manageable one. Able to take on mobs of whites and yellows without too much of a problem. He's currently at level 7.

I think you're right tbh.. but that just means that you can only use it as an opener. I suppose the other time you could use it is after focus, or shockwave where the enemy is likely to be on his back anyway.

Only problem with powers like Air Sup for a weapon based scrapper like claws is that theres the slight delay in popping your claws back out before the next attack in the chain. Kinda derails the idea of attack speed (for me at least)

Interestingly this post is of mind bogglingly useful significance since last night I rolled a fire / axe end muncher tank called "Viking Furnace" - currently at lvl 5. I'm going to be concentrating on damage more than damage resistance.

The female hero face was part of a tutorial for faces contained within the book "How to Draw Great Looking Comic Book Women" - I'm amazed how simple it was to do given the basic building blocks, and I'm going to try and incorporate what I've learnt there in my own compositions.

Mad Evil Destructo Bot - made him because I thought drawing a robot which contains far more basic geometric shapes might help me learn to draw my characters in 3D, and yes get a handle for foreshortening. The big problem I've had is getting the proportions of everything right in relation to everything else (even taking into consideration the whole "7 heads" thing.

The hand shooting the energy beam I'm especially pleased with. When I sketched it out, I thought to myself "make this bigger than you think it should be to give the picture that depth you want" - and bingo!

I'm hoping aswell that my efforts would encourage other would be artists who think that they can't draw to give it a try. As I said in my opening, I believed my artistic ability to be that of a "retarded colour blind baboon", but I am absolutely overjoyed with the progress I'm making, and with a bit of patience and application, I'd like to think anyone could do the same.

Do they need to be another Kin necessarily? Doesn't Siphon speed increase your own recovery speed much in the same way that adrenaline boost does? (I'm only asking because I have a Fire / Kin at lvl 8, and Siphon Speed will be my level 10 choice )

Not only that, but to turn your Dominator into a REALLY effective tank I'd recommend 6 slotting brawl for endrdx, 6 slotting rest.. 3 recharge, and 3 end rdx, and most importantly of all. Take Flurry.

.. you're doing a Council base mission and are in a constant dilemma whether to play in 3rd person mode (to avoid getting caught out in melee from behind) or 1st person mode (to make navigation and targetting easier)

Yeah - other movies I've seen look very much like they're not using camera angles which are supplied in game. For example, a super speed character zipping past a fixed location. I would imagine this is done by using "first person" mode and filmed by another user? Maybe it's time to find some movie making chums heheh.

As a first attempt I think it's pretty good!

Only thing I'd suggest as a way of improving it, is make more of the "non standard" (ie non-3rd person behind) views; which I realise is quite difficult, but would make it look more like a movie, and less like "just" footage from a game. Angles like the one at the beginning looking up at him from the front - give a sense of impact imo.

I'll offer you the same advice that people have given me about my artistic attempts.. keep at it.. practise makes perfect
