It doesn't just sound awful - it is awful - it's quite possible for an entire culture to be morally wrong.
And when that's the case, an effort needs to be made to change that culture.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is how wars start.
[/ QUOTE ]
Unfortunately, yes. But it's not the only way to change a backwards culture.
[/ QUOTE ]
Listen to yourself. Who gave you the right (or anyone for that matter) to decide what is "right" and what is "backwards" in terms of culture?
You'll notice I mentioned this is how wars start - now kiddies, do we know what war means? It's generally when one group of people don't like another group of people - and decide to "change" or "better" them. But if that was all it was, it wouldn't be war, it'd just be a bunch of guys wandering in to someone else's country/house/territory and making them do things the way they deem acceptable; and it'd all be over within moments.
See - war is when the people who are being told to change decide they don't much like the idea of that, and they fight back.
If someone came up to you on the street, morally objected to your hat, and demanded you change it - despite you actually loving the hat, the hat works for you, it looks good on you - ok, so occasionally you neglect your other hats in favour of this one, or will refuse to go out without it - but you love that damn hat, you've always had it and couldn't imagine being without it - what would you do?
Remember, this guy thinks your hat is morally wrong - in fact, so do his friends. And so help me if you say you have freedom of choice to wear the hat. -

Getting my apology in before I get my comuppance.
Sorry, Shaikar. The community here is actually pretty awesome, what you witnessed happens very rarely, if ever - and I'm sorry you had to see it. Enjoy the game, and the forums! -

umm, just like too say that I was the lvl 40 brute in RV earlier today and i dont have aid self. I was using healing flames

Remind me to avoid you in PvP. -
[ QUOTE ]
Just a point to add....this game is generally played by 12-20 yr old hetrosexual males, so you may be barking up the wrong tree (no pun intended). There are a lot of girls/women too, and plenty of people older than 20+, me included.
[/ QUOTE ]
There may even be some gay women! -

I'm contacting Bridge and asking him to close this thread as the topic is dead.
[/ QUOTE ]
He could just remove the gender discussion (or move it to off-topic forum).
[/ QUOTE ]
He can't move it to the Offtopics (if that's what you meant); but deleting the off-topics bits of this thread might work.
It's certainly an interesting discussion - would be a shame to see it locked. -

us women
[/ QUOTE ]
You see, here's where you make two pretty weird basic assumptions. You kind of assume you "women" are a heterogeneous group. You also assume that no person who happens to have is genitals on the outside of his body could ever even begin to understand, sympathize, or wish to change things.
To me, both assumptions are simply wrong. First of all, I know enough women to know you aren't a heterogeneous group. You have more or less the same range of personality, interests, knowledges etc as "men".
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't remember making either of these assumptions. I know very well that men can, and regularly do empathise with women - I also know a couple of biological men who are, to all extents and purposes, female.
However, I do object to being told "what women want", and I apologise - but this is exactly what you have been doing. What happens if a woman (biological or otherwise) wants to wear make up, flaunt her sexuality, stay in the kitchen - respond to a man as her better? What's the matter with being proud, and rightly so, of your biological gender - but not striving to be identical in personality/knowledge and interests as those of the opposite?
[ QUOTE ]
Women have, for most of human history, been taught to like being in a certain way. That doesn't mean it's a good way. "What people like" is determined by the culture in which they exist.
[/ QUOTE ]
What people like is determined by the person, and the person alone. Whether or not they can be vocal about it is determined by culture. -
I've got a nifty idea. How about you get on with being male, and let us women tell you when we feel you are keeping us down?
That sound good to you? -

Now I will leave this topic, reach into the unused-alt-storage, and start to play with my homosexual toon Dr. Discharge again.

Teehehehehehe. Ahem.
Serious topic. Very serious.
Cough.

So grateful you had that thought too. -

Have been tempted to make him ingame, but males can't get the stockings and high-heels options...
[/ QUOTE ]
And that's too bad, really. Darn anti-queen game creators! Why can't we be allowed to mix and match as we damn well please, huh?
Right, I'm going over to the Suggestions forum... *stomps angrily*
[/ QUOTE ]
Male characters have access to the Mesh Tights costume option - they can double up nicely as fishnets, if you're careful with matching colours. -
[ QUOTE ]
I've been known to claim I'm [censored] anyway when anyone uses it as an insult just to make them realise how stupid it is to say. I really hate it when people insult others based on who they are, as opposed to what they do.
[/ QUOTE ]
Now, I may have no right to say this - not being [censored] myself, but I'm not 100% with you on the idea of pretending to be something you're not in order to annoy/berate or condemn other people.
I know of many [censored] people who will quite happily use the, "You're so ****," line in jest/when pointing out someone's being an idiot; although I know there are many who don't agree with it - both [censored] and straight.
It's one thing to speak for an entire community; it's another to speak for an entire community you're not a part of.
As I say though, I may have no right whatsoever to say this. -
Perhaps there are more than you think, but the subject of sexuality doesn't come up much in RP? There's a difference between being openly [censored], and randomly blurting out, "I like men" during PLOT.
All the ICly lesbian characters I've come across are only obvious by the fact that they all seem to have partners being RP'd. -
[ QUOTE ]
so how is RP organised? how do people know where to go?
[/ QUOTE ]
A lot of it is done in this section of the forums (advertisements for RP SGs and such), some is word-of-mouth and the rest is either private or takes place (still) at GG and Pocket D. Though the latter seems to be more heavily populated these days. -
@Stasis, I agree.
And also apologise for any/all part I've played in it. -

Psssst. He's playing the part of Brad.
Awesome work, Max! -
Catzie - every sketch you produce tops the one before it. You're amazingly talented, and are still improving!

Stating you're in RV to farm is just another way of saying, "I am an easy target because I'm distracted". The same way support classes seem to be taken out first in PvP battles - go for the easiest kill.
-
1. Deceive, uhm, deceives. The target will no longer be able to target enemies, and instead will be able to target and attack allies. It's pretty pointless really, for sensible people who, once deceived, stop (read: Run far away from people) and wait for the effects to wear off.
3. Bloody Bay is indeed the least populated. I believe Siren's is the best for PvP, Warburg very good for rumbles and RV - well, the less said about that, the better.
I'm afraid I can't answer question 2.
-
Thank you
It's a bit weird soloing the last stretch to 50, but v. enjoyable too.

There are? Whoops, didn't even know that was an issue. Sorry for that, B! Thought I was just making a silly comment

"Really hot babes!"
Made me smile lots, looking forward to seeing more.
