What the heck are you talking about?
Dev's Choice has nothing to do with popularity among the players. I could publish a mission right now and the devs could mark it as Dev's Choice by lunchtime. They show up at the top of the list because they're considered "most honored" missions.

Everyone DOES have a chance to be Dev's Choice - you just have to have a developer really like your mission. -
The issue is definitely worth looking at, but oh man I laughed at the thread title.
-
LOL yes. Good thing I just got my next arc published! I'll be updating my sig as soon as I can log on and check that the explosion bug is fixed.
( New arc is #262739: The Superadine Revolution)
Edit: Yup, it's dead, Jim. -
I've also seen a glitch where you can have too many of a certain type of objective (battle spawns, in my case) but it won't pop up an error until you try to test it. I had to incrementally lower the number of spawns until it was happy.
-
So I've been working on a very plot intensive story arc lately (shamelss plug --> #262739: The Superadine Revolution) and there were a few features that I've occasionally seen in developer created missions that I'd like to be able to use in my AE missions:
1. Dialogue spawns
These are the slightly smaller spawns that have two bits of inactive dialogue and one bit of active dialogue. It's a great way to add some flavor text without adding an extra boss or other above average spawn.
2. Multiple factions in a mission
I'd like to populate my missions with spawns of two different factions interspersed. The easiest solution (in theory, I don't know the code) would be to have a multiple faction option, which then lets you choose two factions instead of one, and add a little drop down box for 25/50/75% prevalence of the first faction. The final mission in my arc is supposed to be an all out battle between two factions, but I had to settle with populating the mission with one faction and creating special boss and battle spawns with the second faction.
I had a third one but I forgot what it was. Feel free to add to the list and I'll consolidate them and post a consolidated thread on the suggestions board! -
Sorry to interrupt the festivities, but tonight's food topic is eggs, not baloney.
-
1. Cook bacon in skillet.
2. Remove bacon.
3. Scramble 2 eggs and a dash of pepper in the bacon grease, adding a little bit of your favorite cheese when it starts to solidify.
4. As eggs start to become solid, form into a sandwich sized patty and continue cooking until lightly browned on the outside. (You'll be able to flip it like a burger.)
5. Toast bagel.
6. Grab a slice of your favorite cheese.
Assemble as follows:
Bagel top
Bacon
Cheese
Eggs
Bagel bottom
Best. Breakfast Sandwich. Ever. -
I think the coolest place I've discovered in-game would have to be either the CoT map mentioned above, the Hequat map (Oranbega with lots of neat additions, known as Vaults of Mu), or simply the main street of the Jackpot neighborhood of St. Martial at night. The neon is stunning.
Oh, and the special Hellions beginning map with the fires and everything is really sweet, but it hardly ever gets seen... -

This arc has ... does not stand on its own, and lacks ... explanations all over the place.

Please go back and read the description, specifically the part that says:

This is first of 3 arcs in a single story.

I will pass on the parts of your review that are not insulting. -
My dad did a lot of research for his story. It's a really interesting arc, but probably not at all what you are thinking it is. I was certainly surprised when he was finally ready to test it.
Oh, and he's a terrible speller, but I'm going to be helping him out with that once we both get back from our trips to the midwest. -

Akhdar Blood Arc: 247198 -
Arc Name: The First Rikti Invasion
Arc ID: 259738
Faction: Heroic, levels 36-42 for XP
Creator Global/Forum Name: @AThiker
Difficulty Level: High (Custom EBs and AVs, ambushes)
Keywords: Ideal for Teams, Challenging, Custom Characters
Estimated Time to Play: Approx 1.5 hours (4 long missions)
Synopsis: You go back in time to prevent the Rikti from invading, but you must find their headquarters. This is first of 3 arcs in a single story. The other two will be published in August. This is intended to be a challenge for large groups!
-------------------------------------------
This is my dad's first published arc, and involves going WAY back in time to prevent a Rikti invasion. Test it out and post your comments here, and I'll pass them on to him! -
Arc Name: The Superadine Revolution
Arc ID: 262739
Faction: Heroic, levels 20-29 for XP
Creator Global/Forum Name: @SpaceNut
Difficulty Level: Moderate (Elite bosses in 2 missions, but otherwise soloable)
Keywords: Ideal for Teams, Drama, Canon-Related
Estimated Time to Play: Approx 1 hour (5 missions)
Synopsis: No longer content just to push Superadine and commit petty crimes, the Skulls are attempting to steal control of the entire Superadine operation from the leaders of the Family. The combination of the dark magic of the Skulls and the pure strain of Superadine would make them incredibly powerful...
----------------------------------------
I loved writing this arc. I started out by spending an entire evening recreating the Skulls in the character creator. They obviously look a little different than the real Skulls, but after a while fighting them, you'll totally forget they are custom enemies. I made 3 types of Gravediggers, 4 Death Heads, 2 Bone Daddies and the Petrovic brothers - Marrow Snap and Marrow Drinker - who are now elite bosses.
This arc plays out an attempted coup by the Skulls against the Family to take control of the Superadine trade. You'll see a number of familiar Skull bosses that you've fought in the lower levels, including the ever-present Toothbreaker Jones, and you'll have to fight through a who's who of Family consiglieres, underbosses and capos.
Consider it a missing TF/story arc from the 20's. The Council and the Freakshow have task forces, and the Banished Pantheon and the Tsoo have story arcs. Now the Family and their associates have a story!
I hope you enjoy it! -

I'm actually disappointed that so many of the WW 2 villains are active.
Vandal, Requiem, Nosferatu are all holdovers from WW2. Nemesis goes farther back than that. Requiem has also been retconned into having an origin dating back decades.
I want some NEW villains to arise in game. Idealy, someone we start to meet as a lowbie hero who then appears perodically throughout our careers ...
[/ QUOTE ]
Well to be fair, you named pretty much the only major villains who have been around that long. Nemesis and Vandal have technologically extended their lifespans, Nosferatu has scientifically expanded his lifespan and Requiem merged with a Nictus (which wasn't a retcon). -
I think this is still my favorite extreme landing video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3s8VYt8uyo
But even that is no Courchevel. -
On an average team, the short TFs (Hess, Katie) will take an hour, hour and a half. The newer TFs (ITF, LGTF) generally take 2 to 3 hours. (I've never understood how people do it in 45 minutes.) The surviving 8 TFs generally take 2 to 4 hours. (Numina and Manticore tend to be the shortest.) Plan on at least 4 hours for a Shard TF - up to 6 if you want to do Dr. Quaterfield's TF.
-
My biggest issue with shield defense is the lack of powers that affect the enemy and what I like to consider "utility powers," excluding the tier 9.
There are no powers that increase your regeneration, recovery, speed, or recharge. There's no heal. There's no endurance recovery click power. There's no rez.
There's no damage aura. The taunt aura is +Dam (Self), -Dam (Foe), which pales in comparison to pretty much every other taunt aura out there. You can't slow the enemy down or make them less accurate.
All in all, it's a fun set, but when things go south, you don't really have any tricks up your sleeve except more damage. -
Since when do the laws of physics apply in this game?
*hovers* -
[ QUOTE ]
5) What ever happened to the old villains from World War Two? Are they still alive? Have they grown old? Are they still young?
[/ QUOTE ]
Most of the old villains are dead or missing.
The Storm Korps was defeated and only 5 members survived. They were found guilty of war crimes and presumably executed or sentenced to life imprisonment.
The same goes for the Imperial Wind. They refused to surrender after the atomic bomb was dropped and presumably had to be beaten into the ground. The leader of the Imperial Wind, The Lord of Frosts, escaped and went into hiding. -
I'm still watching the thread, but I've put the character creation on hold for a little bit. I really like a lot of the ideas and once I'm not overwhelmed with alts, I'll be making the character and giving out the reward(s).
-
[ QUOTE ]
Now, going in the opposite direction: Castle didn't work on the game until I6 (if I remember correctly) and BABs didn't come on board until I7.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you check the wiki, you'll see that Castle came on board in late 2004. No details for BaB, though.
