Quote:This. ^Why is it their responsibility to preemptively speak up about something they might not be aware of? Here's a better idea - if you're doing a speed run, announce that when forming.
It's always nice for everyone to know what they're getting into before the TF starts.
I mean, if it was advertised as a speed run or a semi-speed run, that's one thing.
Either way, communication in general never hurts. -
I noticed this too, but as others have said, it's probably due to the fast attacks.
I'm at work (as usual) so I don't have the numbers in front of me, but I think I have a recovery rate close to 4%? And I still run into end problems.
On my StJ/WP brute I have Stamina and Quick Recov 4 slotted with Performance Shifters (including the +end proc) and a +end proc in the epic power that gives you the +Endurance (forget the name). I was originally going to take Strength of Will at 49 as an IO mule (Mmmm Glad armor +3% Def) but I may just take Physical Perfection for another +End proc. I have Numina Regen/Recov slotted and a Miracle +Recovery slotted as well.
Toggles running: MoB, RttC, IW, HS, Tough, Weave, Combat Jumping and Maneuvers. And Super Speed. ~.~
In my Mids build, I was able to get 45.1% Defense to S/L using Nerve Core Paragon. But now I'm thinking it might be worth it to go Cardiac instead.
*shrug*
Currently level 47.
It's a fun set. I may roll another as a Shield or Fire Armor brute for more damage output... but so far, liking this combo a lot. -
Quote:Eh... not all of the series followed the "ranger" naming scheme...I don't get the problem considering Sentai is the word for Power Ranger and Shinkenger seems to be the weird word for Ranger that is in every series...
So the series title is literally "Samurai Power Rangers"
Liveman, Go-Onger, Boukenger, Flashman, Goseiger - to name a few... -
When I was a kid, I -loved- Power Rangers. Like seriously, I was obsessed. I thought it was the greatest thing ever.
Then (around the time of Dekaranger) I was introduced to the original source material.
I have never - looked - back.
The original Sentai is far superior to the watered down mutilated American counterpart.
TV-N, Over-Time, GUIS, and all the other fansub groups are amazing for the work they do.
Gokaiger is really turning out to be an awesome series. After Gekiranger, I had lost hope with Go-Onger. It was craptastic. Then we got Shinkenger - OMG :O~~ So awesome. Then Goseiger... meh... and here we are at Gokaiger.
As for how they would incorporate it into Power Rangers lore, as someone previously mentioned, there were ancient Rangers on Earth - but also there were "space" Rangers as seen in MMPR/Kakuranger and Power Rangers in Space/Megaranger.
Either way, I doubt they will do good by the series. Dino Thunder was the last decent PR series. It went all downhill after that.
As a side note, I heard a rumor that Saban also registered "Power Rider" and that it would be a Kamen Rider show possibly based on footage from Decade.
Quote:OMG... Shinken Brown was one of the funniest things I've ever seen in Sentai. I was beside myself when I saw that episode. LOL!!!!!The fake Skull as in Spike? If so, he's actually the SON of Skull. Although I am sad we'll never see a 'Mr. Brown' in the series, like they had on Shinkenger, because in an odd way Bulk and Spike fill that role. -
Quote:Yet if you're late paying your bill, you drop down to Premium (in days of yore, your subscription would flat out be canceled until you made a payment).Except, it's not really that big of an issue. It's a few day, which in the grand scheme of things is nothing really. Heck, I don't even know when my billing date is.
This is pretty much the exact reason why the devs never speak in definites and use the word "soon" so it shouldn't be unexpected that people are upset that they're not getting something when they were told they would.
Also, I'm starting to think that Marketing = Nemesis. -
Quote:Thanks for the heads up. I still think it's a Nemesis/NCSoft plot to get people to spend more money on points regardless if it's a "mistake" or not.Alright, so I thought I would fill people in on this, since I've noticed none of the Devs have posted up about this. If your account was active for the VIP Head Start, and it is still active, expect your points and token on the 11th. It seems there has been a mess-up with this. My subscription date is on the 3rd of each month, yet yesterday I didn't get my points or token, so I spoke to the billing department over this fact. They saw my renewal date is in fact the 3rd, but that the points were shown as being awarded on the 13th of each month. Oddly this is when the VIP head-start, started, September 13th. They've sent me an e-mail confirming this was because of the head-start, and said I would get my token and Points October 11th (28 days later). Saying this is in fact a mistake, and seems to effect all accounts, whom took part in the VIP Head-Start. They say this SHOULD be fixed in Feb.
Again, I thought I would fill people in, so you're not left wondering, why you didn't get your points before the 11th, or, why you got them on the 11th if your renewal date was later than the 11th.

Quote:10 PP would be fine for meAh, but then again "reasonability" when it comes to pricing is always going to be in the eye of the beholder. Ironically there would be people complaining about this even if the Devs only charged 10 Paragon Points for this.
I mean, I'm all for them making money and charging for stuff - I actually had no problem with their price points for the costume codes being sold in the store.
I also have no issues with what they're charging for the extra salvage/enhancement storage or the costume slot prices.
Powersets, in my eyes, are quite different. -
Quote:Right, I'm not arguing that we've paid for powersets before. We have.I would simply argue that part of what you were paying for when you bought those expansions were new powersets. Of course we can quibble about what fraction of that expansion cost was specifically for the powersets in question, but that doesn't change the fact that at least part of your money went towards paying for powersets.
Having to pay for individual powersets in the Paragon Market is just a different formulation of the same scheme we've already had in this game. Paying for powersets is not a "new" thing - it existed long before the Market came around.
My gripe is the cost at which they are charging for them currently.
As compared to previously set prices, things in the store are stupidly expensive. -
Quote:We've gotten new powersets as part of paid expansions, which is a bit different. It's not "new territory" at all. For the handful of powersets we got "for free" there have been plenty of others tied to paid expansions. This just happens to be one of the ones we have to pay extra for. Stop being so dramatic about this.
When you factor in what was given with CoV and Going Rogue, there was quite a bit more bang for your buck.
I remember when Dual Blades was considered a huge coding achievement with being able to hold 2 weapons and that was included with our subscription.
I have no problem with charging for consumables and "fluff" but charging for powersets in this way and at this price point is something I don't agree with. -
Quote:I'm generally around after 6:00 pm EST and am always down for some Hami goodness.I'm PST centered and work until 6 pm; if there's enough interest and the old schedule isn't being followed, I'm willing to run Hamidon Raids on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7pm PST.
The Hamiettes shall dance again! -
Quote:There appears to be some random graphical issues after this morning's patch. There are a few other threads with folks reporting similar issues.ok, I am currently on my mercs/traps MM, level 49, in a mission in mercy. upon entering the mission my pets were covered and surrounded by a very bright series of purple electric looking bubbles. they were not held or otherwise debuffed or buffed, i have been in the mission for half and hour and they are still there. Also, i have 2, yes 2, targetting drones floating around me, i do not have that power at all, and when a friend joined me on his elec brute to see it, he entered the mission and had dark miasma on him, neither of us have that power. I tried to add a screenshot but it didn't work. Weird.
Hopefully it'll be resolved quickly. -
Quote:I agree with that sentiment. The timing is poor.Sensible or not, understandable or not, it does not change the point that it is probably bad timing since players that left the game are returning.
Quote:This was not the time to be having these problems. I do not expect players to be as understanding as you are.
Look, we all agree that downtime sucks. It especially sucks during prime time. No one is arguing that. -
Quote:To quote the comedian Ron White: "You can't fix stupid."I was in a team this morning and as a Fire/Time controller I often use Bonfire as a way to protect the squishies.
I don't drop it in the middle of a group unless things go badly and we have pulled a second or third group - then I fling it at them so it buys us some time. I will drop Bonfire centered on ranged players. Then the melee heavy bosses never reach them.
I had ran a couple of missions with a team and had been doing this when the scrapper in a full team starts complaining:
Scrapper: Bonfire sucks - it throws everything all over.
Me: I don't use it on the group - I use it under our blasters and controllers - like this and toss one under us so no melee attacks get near
Scrapper: it makes the buffs not works and scatters everything so we can't use AoE's
Me: I am not doing that - I am protecting the squishies but if it offends you so badly - have a nice day and take care all. /quit team
I am beginning to hate the Exalted server.
I have this sort of conversation on any power that doesn't neatly stack the mobs in killing order and instantly wipe them out. It seriously appears more and more like all people want is no effort instant killing sprees buffed to the gills and unphased by the enemy.
Sorry folks just had to vent - the VIP server more and more stands for Very Intolerant Players.
I also don't quite understand how Bonfire would make buffs not work. *shrug* -
I think part of the problem with your suggestion is that many of the bugs and issues we're experiencing didn't actually happen on Beta and in fact weren't seen until the Issue went to the Live environment.
This isn't that uncommon that a Beta will go relatively smooth and then when it hits Live there's tons of unforeseen issues.
An example would be the scroll bar on the Server Select menu. They couldn't fix that in Beta because it wasn't an issue in Beta.
It's not like there are -that- many Beta testers in relation to the live population. I'm grateful to the Beta testers that take the time to actually test for bugs so we can all benefit but there's only so much that they can do to find bugs.
And one other thing to consider: fixing one thing can potentially break something else.
With all the years of coding that's gone into this game it must be a nightmare for them to track stuff down.
Anyway, just another opinion on the subject. As Loth said, the game will always be a work in progress and nothing will change that. An MMO is "finished' when the servers go offline :P -
My reaction when I read the thread title: O_O;;;

Quote:Most of my friends who are VIP players on Virtue didn't plan on moving to Exalted. If anything, they were going to make alts there and level new toons.I had a bright idea to leave my sg on Freedom server and switch 2 of my favorite toons to Exalted (VIP). My thoughts were that all the paid players would switch over and there would be some kick a** groups and teams... My Freedom server had 2 yellow dots as well as the Exalted server.. I made the transfer.. I knew I was in trouble when there was no one standing at the BM at Cap. So then I hit the pocket D Vip button... " Bam" 2 people on the dance floor...? Quickly I bought 2 more transfers and back on Freedom.. Was I tricked by the 2 yellow dots on the Exalted display?
Personally, I would've made a new character and check things out before moving anyone over.
Also, the server status dots tend to flux to I don't know how reliable they really are. I've seen Virtue go from Yellow to Red to Green to Red in the course of 10 minutes (when swapping toons for stuff).
Either way, I think in time Exalted's population will rise but it's only been a live server for a few weeks... -
Quote:You keep your original build, yes.Ah. Didn't think about the second build option. That is certainly one way to take care of the problem.
You keep your original build (is that correct?) plus redo a new build that follows the restrictions...that way you have the original if you resub.
And your second (or third builds) can be different from your first - not just the enhancements. You can pick different powers, pools, etc (obviously your primary and secondary powersets can't be changed...) -
Quote:Overall, the thread seems pretty civilized. I enjoy discussions like this. It's always interesting to see how different people perceive the same thing.Probably. I'm actually going to humbly bow out of this right now since it's already devolving into 'I tink farming is teh goods' and 'I hatez teh farmzorz porebers'
One thing is certain though - everyone enjoys the game in a different way whether it's slight differences or drastic differences.
Mmmm I wish we had an "overalls" costume piece. I would so make a "farmer" costume.
And on that note... can we get a Pitch Fork as a customizable weapon for Staff Melee please? -
Quote:I would agree that the Incarnate Trials is a type of farming.-shrug- Just saying everything is farming and trying to validate it doesn't make it so.
I would disagree that running 10 tips + 1 alignment towards an A merit and farming for tickets are both farming.
(Not that there's anything wrong with either mind you)
Farming, to me, is not having to travel from place to place while running the same task.
AE farm = Run mission, pop out of mission, go right back in, rinse, repeat
Tip Missions = Run mission, hopefully get more tips during the mission, pop out of mission, travel to next, rinse, repeat.
Granted I still think both situations are repetitive... -
Quote:1- Run the launcher so that it creates the necessary directories and let it run for a few minutes. Stop the launcher then delete everything inside the directory it created. Copy all of the files from your flashdrive into the directory. If there is a checksum file, delete it. (I don't know if this matters anymore with the new launcher but with the old one you were recommended to that). Run the launcher again and it should verify the files.Apologies for my weak search-fu. I have managed to interest a friend and his fiancee in CoH. He will be F2P and she will be premium. I have a few questions.
1. What's the best way to install the game? I'm bringing over my up to date copy and the NCsoft launcher on a flash drive. How do I do the install so that the launcher doesn't try a fresh download?
2. I gave her the Architect Edition box set as a birthday gift some time ago. Will that box set alone allow her to use AE?
Thanks in advance!
2- According to: http://na.cityofheroes.com/en/about_...cho.php#tabs-4 the only way to get AE access is to unlock via Paragon Rewards or have a VIP subscription. -
Quote:If the devs gave for free everything to free/premium players that paying customers get there's no incentive to being a paying customer. This attitude reaks of neener neener neener, I can use my IO's and you can;t
Bottom line:
If you had an inactive account prior to Freedom, you weren't using that account unless you paid.
Post Freedom, you can play the account albeit with limitations but still less so limitations than someone who is starting out from the beginning. -
You have a couple of options:
Buy an Invention License for (I think) $2. It gives 30 day access.
Pay the monthly Subscription Fee.
Use a second build for SOs. (You can have more than 1 build these days in case you weren't aware - and not trying to be snarky, just informative).
If you're planning on using that Premium account sparingly, shelling out $2 every other month may be better than $15/mo consistently. -

Just out of curiosity, which server had the characters locked?
I've seen a few people having the same issue and the locked characters are on Justice. -
Quote:For the same reason that everyone else did it for years prior to IOs and the Incarnate System? If a Freebie gets to 50 with only SOs, and doesn't have access to Incarnate Content... why would they even want to tweak out their build with HOs?
Just sayin...

Maybe that Microfilament I have listed for 600m and am too cheap and lazy to re-list will actually sell now
