While the OP's idea isn't really feaseable, I empathize with what he's wanting, which is essentially a broader playing field.
Similiarly, I wish there was some incentive for higher level characters to go back to 'lower' zones on occasion. I like playing my 50s; I love the zones of Striga and Croatoa - but they went their separate ways long ago...
I wish there was some mechanic where I could go to those zones on a 50, explore a bit, and experience a challenging fight here or there. The OP's mechanic would allow that, but brings in a whole slew of other problems.
Even so, I wish there was *some* way to do it... -
I like both of your suggestions immensely, LX

It seems we're not getting anything for I16, but I see these color/animation changes as just the beginning, and I think (hope) Khelds get to benefit from some of that, eventually.
So, what new alternate animations for existing powers would you like to see coming? For me it's:
PB's Solar Flare: The new groundstrike for SS (you can find links in the AT/Powers forum), or perhaps a Handclap
Pulsar: Handclap
Incadescent Strike: Toughie here - perhaps something totally awesomely new that only PB's have - maybe a leaping, spinning one-handed downward smash...
Light Form: not really a new animation, but an alternate look: you turn into a form of Light, but keep your Humanoid form. I *hate* the little bouncing ball of light and often avoid using LF just because of the look.
Anybody else got ideas? I think we're gonna get new Animations someday. Let's give the dev's some ideas. -

Semi-off topic but still semi-on topic... Hm,
Is "Going Rogue" going to be an expansion, like CoV was to CoH, or is it going to be it's own Issue?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well definetly be an expansion. That is confirmed. Whether it's tied to an issue is unknown, but highly likely, IMO. -
The new MA animations aren't supposed to super-sexy, IMO. They are essentially the Dev's answer to all those clamoring for a Streetfighting/Brawling set. I think it works splendidly.
Also love the new SS animations. My SS Tank will take them all - he is the Classic Hero. My SS Brute, on the other hand, will probably keep the old animations. She's never bothered to learn to fight 'correctly'. She's just strong and smashes things... However, I might changed her Haymaker, simply so I won't have the redundant animation with Air Superiority. -
Chant with me..."Rularuu!...Rularuu!...Rularuu!..."
-
I like Pulsar..really. Used to have it 6-slotted. But in play I just never seem to need it. Soloing, I proved tough enough to fight the smaller mobs without worrying. Pulsar mezzed the minions but since they could't hurt me too much, using Pulsar basically slowed me down,
On teams, well, other ATs control better than PBs.
Now, if they'd cut down on the animation time (and make it a handclap) and also raised the mag so it'd have a reliable shot of mezzing bosses, then I might reconsider... -
I've taken this pseudo-RP attitude towards high level toons with players that don't know how play them:
Not every comic or movie character with awesome power starts out as a weakling (akin to level 1). Some start with whole arrays of abilities and the power to move planets from day 1...and they don't have a frickin' clue how to use them. It's certainly part of the genre, and some of the fun of such characters is watching them learn to deal with the awesome powers they already have without blowing up the city or getting their friends killed in the process.
I know this isn't a comic or movie, and that inexperienced players can be an irritation, but for the time being, they're here to stay - might as well come up with a way to not get too uptight about it.
Frankly, I think it's about time that CoH developed an extensive endgame that requires experience and good knowledge of your powers. Again, it's in genre. Superman and Batman pretty much stay at their same high level of power for years and always have plenty to do.
One of the touted charms of CoH was that 'this game is about the journey, not the destination'. Well, when the journey only takes a week now, what will become of it all? An endgame, with cool stuff that only *experienced* highlevels can do, is needed, IMO. Maybe Going Rogue will provide it. -
When I first heard one saying something along the lines of "I'm an ex-Japanese Hentai actor looking for work", I thought that was pretty humorous.
The many similiar quips I've heard since now make me roll my eyes, but the first was funny... -

...Now, in PVE, that same PB would get stunned or held and get taken down in very little time without a number controllers on the team or some other form of outside help.

I think this is one of those hanger-on's that's not so true anymore. The 3-1 Insp trade makes having a Breakfree ready just about all the time, especially when you get a decent sized Insp tray. By the time mezzing start to really be a problem (late 20's) your tray is decent enough. For a PB, post 38 with Lightform you can take down any mezzing boss.
It's just not the problem it used to be. I soloed the high level Carnie and Malta arcs in PI on a Human PB (and we all know the mezzing power of those two). I did them at a challenging but brisk, and most of all, fun pace - certainly not close to the agravating toothpooling Khelds used to experience. -
Solo, my Human PB has about 35% resist to everything 'cept Psi (and I'm pretty IOd out). While not world beating, it's not bad, and combined with decent recharge and the two heals, a Human PB can just keep hanging, and hanging, and hanging... They appear pretty tough.
Then of course, there's Light Form (OP, did the PB used LF?)
I've had opponents compliment my toughness in Warburg, but Tank Toughness??? Well, I've gotten that level on teams (last night I took the alphas and tanked several Praetorian AVs and never dropped once), but soloing...Hmm.. I feel I'm about as high as a Human PB can get, save that I can get more recharge to get my heals back faster and I could get some more defense (but I don't really care about the latter) -
It's just brilliant
Instead of making a whole new set for Brawling, Streetfight, whatever... all of which basically accomplish what Martial Arts already does, just change the Animations! Viola, my High Kicking Kane is now Bad Leeroy Brown
Curious as to what the Powers will be called with new Animations? Super Sucker Gut Punch can't still be called Crane Kick... -

Um, the titan spawns in FF. That's where it's supposed to, since that's where the mission is.
Low level zones =/= talos and ff. Low level = Galaxy, Atlas. Those two zones have blocks in place. Others do not, which is why we've been able, on Protector, nearly once a year, to do the "Robot Rampage" event with upwards of 20+ mixed monsters (titans, babbages from the tf, and pallys when we can get them), in Kings Row.
The "problematic" bit is that radio and paper missions are *random*. So ... what you want is to take the one thing that they have going for them, out.
[/ QUOTE ]
So, the Kronos GM is supposed to ambush me after I leave the mish door in FF? Okay, I guess I didn't know that... Anyway.
But you got me to thinking... I can't recall ever experiencing an ambush after leaving a Radio mission (and I've done *alot* of them the last 1.5 years). All the ambushes I recall occured after arc missions. I'm not saying they don't occur in radios, but they do seem to be rare. Rare enough to make your worries a non-issue, IMO.
Bottom line is I'm thinking of global radio missions for 50s would be of a slightly different nature than normal radio missions, and I don't see why for these only there simply couldn't be ambushes. It's not a game-breaker -
If I could coat a Nova form in Paisley patterns I'd sub for life
-
Guys, things went absolutely flawless - you are all awesome
Thanks alot ! -

Well the problem with that is the occasional paper/radio ambush missions. If you're hanging out in Atlas on a 50, it cannot spawn an ambush because there's a program in place to prevent it. However, take that same 50 to Kings Row, and you WILL get a level 50 ambush there. There is a pretty good reason for the paper missions to be zone-friendly.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've had 50's ambush me in lower level zones already via regular missions there (Talos, Bricks). Heck, I've had the Kronos Titan GM ambush me in FF! So this isn't unprecedented.
Even so, how difficult would it be to simply have 'global' missions (available to 50s only) to simply have no ambushes?
I simply don't see why this would be problematic, and it would get 50s moving around the city a bit more... -
*sniffle*... but I must say, as an AT that was directly tied to a race and backstory, I had my suspicions this might happen.
C'mon, Devs, my PB wants to go Gold -
alrighty, I'll give all this a try. Thanks guys
Not heading out till Sunday so if I have issues I'll know in advance. -
I'm about to take a business trip, and thought I'd like to play a bit of CoH in the evenings while in the hotels.
Is there any issues with loading the game client to a laptop and then logging on with regular account. Essentially, will I encounter some sort of licence conflict machine code thingy, and will it attempt to charge me?
Finally, if I can do it, what's the best method these days. I have the GvE CD. Is it better to load that and then run thru all the updates? Or is it better to install the game from the website?
Thanks -
Personally, I wish they make Radio/Newspaper missions 'global' once you reach 50. By that I mean simply that a level 50 can do a radio/paper mish from any zone, Atlas to PI, Mercy to Grandville. Peregine does get old after a while...
Storywise, 50's are the powerbrokers of the city/isles. There are times I'd like to visit old stomping ground on my 50s, such as Steel Canyon or King's Row, and take care of things there that only one of my power can do. -
We basically have the 'ironman' pose when flying straight up. I've sometimes kept that pose by flying up, but rolling the mouse so that I'm looking straight down while flying, thus moving horizontaly to the ground. I agree that it'd be a nice new pose, along with the surfer and jet styles. The surfer style would be a decent pose for Super Speed as well.

Funny stuff
-- that said, everybody with a toon in high 40's should do a Hami Raid at least once. It's like a rite of passage

I've been purpling out a toon recently, thus I've tended to avoid MA missions (because of no purple drops), but recently I've heard that Dev's choice MA missions *can* drop purples. Is that true?

Can someone answer this before it's gets lost in thread oblivion -
