  1. Ok, I will be the first to admit that this is a bit of a selfish request.

Could there be newspaper buildings added to a zone on both factions? A "Journalist" day job could be added to heroes and "propaganda master/mistress" day job could be added to villains for time spent in these buildings.

Actually there is the WSPDR building in Cap au Diable that would fulfill this purpose for villains. The building would have to be opened/allow entry. This would also allow better access to the roof (all doors on this building in the regular zone are non-functional (unlike the missions it is in).

I wouldn't object to the hero version being named "The City Scoop" (the selfish bit) .
  2. [ QUOTE ]
the same reason we'll never get a "Newspaper Reporter" Day Job either.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'd personally like that, except there is no "The City Scoop" office building in CoH. Hmm, now there is a suggestion I think I'll make .
  3. Heh, funny enough my primary account is:

    @Snow Globe

and my (currently unactivated) account is:

    @Snow Globe2
  4. It has come to my attention that there is another person using "@Snow-Globe" and publishing arcs. This is not me, as my global has a space, not punctuation in it.

Please rate their arc without bias.

Additionally I've not published an arc (yet), but I am working on one which I will be posting here.
  5. I would eliminate this part:

"In each case, the first line of each list element would be colored or in bold to indicate whether the character has the item available or not."

Only show costume pieces earned or unlocked. The logical alternate place to display these would be in the Info window.

    We need a mailbox, stat!

For transferring inf., salvage, enhancements, tickets, etc. to characters on your own account or other characters and friends ingame. It's rediculous having to trust someone else you may not know with your stuff. And it sucks when you play solo a lot. You ain't got time to do all the arrangements for 9,999,999 one trade at a time to some stranger just to hope and pray he doesn't take your lo0tz.

We need this fast. Like tomorrow, maybe? (wishful thinking)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ok. For all of you who want to "email ingame items to myself", I give you a challenge.

Come up with a VALID reason as to WHY you should be allowed to mail emails to myself by following these rules:

    (1) Refrain from using OTHER MMOs as a source of reference.

    (2) The reason(s) MUST be in paragraph form. None of the following will be allowed:
    (a) Because it would be cool.
    (b) Because we need it.
    (c) Because I'm bored.
    (Invalid reasons)

    (3) Spell check and sentence structure is important. (Remember you're trying to convince the majority of players WHY this feature is needed. Please, sound out the word(s) before you type them.)

    (4) Your statements MUST be based on FACT and NOT the rantings of a 5 year old that just wants and wants and wants.

    (5) Your reason(s) must FIX the issues rather than create new ones

So, there you have it. Lets see what you've got.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I did that earlier this month, and you didn't have any response other than "I wasn't the author. I gave credit to the creator. I simply think it's funny, and can be used for many different suggestions." (My response is quoted in that post.)

    Use you own advice.
  7. The hall of fame badges have now achieved "Replacement PVP" status.

Not being able to use the word "god" in reference to these limits our ability to write stories that tie into the CoH storyline.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Too bad?

You do not have the right to offend those who believe that using the word in this situation is blasphemy any more that you have the right to yell "fire" in a crowded theater.
  9. Welcome back to the limelight. I look forward to seeing more of you around!
  10. A re-write/splitting is on my project to-do list.
  11. I thank you for all the support of the Scoop, and for all the hard work you have done for the game. Your wit and passion will be missed. Now that you have passed the torch to the next generation of community reps, it will be a slightly different city to be in. This is not a bad thing, just different.

I wish I could have had a chance to be at PAX and meet with you, Alex, and the development team that were there. I wish you well, and look forward to finding out about your further exploits.

You hold a special place in my thoughts, right beside the other community reps that have departed this game.

Yep. He's sold more artwork than all of us combined, people collect more of his artwork than all of ours combined, and as someone who's SEEN FIRSTHAND what the publishing industry is like for artists, it's totally ironic that some "art drawer" has chosen his work to pull a Simon Cowell routine on.

Would you like a bigger backhoe for that hole you're digging for yourself, there, DZ? Cos, you know, this ranks right up there with telling Elton John that he can't sing very well.

  14. Hi there, just to let everyone know the Scoop is willing to include these ads. There are some restrictions though:

    # Image dimensions
    # Full width pictures should be no more than 750 pixels wide.
    # Single column width pictures should be no more than 350 pixels wide.
    # Half-column width pictures should be no more than 150 pixels wide.

The maximum height is 890 pixels high.
If you want a link to a larger version, that is able to be done.

No video or audio ads, sorry. The forum restrictions prevent it.

Post in the Scoop Art submissions thread

Note: To prevent any questions of bias, any MArc review and ad will have at least a two week (issue) gap between them.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Thanks for the bump. I've been so engrossed in the MA I almost forgot about this. Haven't had many entries so far, I'll see if I can put an ad in The Scoop.

Turbo_Ski, please PM with which one of the arcs you wish to enter. I'll probably play both but need one only for the judging.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Corrected, and anyone is welcome to place ads in the Scoop.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Sure they can. There's no rule that says the badges have to be retroactive. It would be nice if it were, but it doesn't have to be. That's a bad reason not to add a badge. Sure, people would complain if they did it, but they would shut up just like they always do after the new-ness wears off.

Yeah, been a fan of his for a long time as well.

There were a few areas that didn't quite look right in the background to me, but I totally agree with the rest of the thread that one poster isn't being constructive. Instead that person is coming across as self-important and delusional.

    1) a badge for defeating Sappers ( ? 500 )

    [/ QUOTE ]
There are already several badges for the Malta group. Additionally there are the mezzed badge series. This will not happen.

    [ QUOTE ]
    2) we have badges for mentoring people, why not badges for time spent exemplar'd

    [/ QUOTE ]
Because they have never tracked time spent exemplar'd everyone would have to start at zero. This would raise such a fuss from badge hunters that there would never be another badge added to the game.

This has a snowball's chance in heck of happening. So for the OFFICIAL RESPONSE, I will point you to a post by Positron.

I would love to see badges given for damage dealt, like we do for damage taken or healed. Is there a reason this has not been done yet?

[/ QUOTE ]1) Because we can't datamine for these badges. Yes, it's a crappy reason, but if we introduce these badges NOW after almost 2 years, players will complain to high heaven that "Character X should have Badge Y," and there is no way to check.

    2) Art. We'd need new art for the badges and the time window to get new, unplanned, badge art is "not anytime soon"

    [/ QUOTE ]
    The same reasons apply here.

    [ QUOTE ]
    3) Some badge for rescuing the people on the street, that are being mugged, terrorized, etc - maybe 1000 rescues over the career of a person's toon. After all, even Superman wasnt to High and Mighty to rescue a little girls cat from a tree now and then - a badge title such as Hero of The People (?)

    [/ QUOTE ]
    See previous point.

    Edit:

a badge title such as Hero of The People

    [/ QUOTE ]
Get a hero to level 50 and you get the "Hero of the City" badge.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
That sounds like something any number of amateur coders could write; maybe you should look for a member of the community who would be interested in that? It's a pretty good idea, I think.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I would myself, but have too much on my plate already. I figured that the developers wouldn't have to reverse engineer the process as they already have it.
  22. It would be nice to have a converter that takes a demorecord file and exports the costumes from it.
