    And I'm another, my real 4 year anni comes on New Years Eve (beta) but have to wait til feb for the offical one, altho my passion for CoX has started to wane slightly in the past couple of months I'm still here and fighting strong. I gave WAR a try and found the reasons why I loved CoX so much, something about this game just doesn't let go!!!
  2. Been here since Euro release..issue 3. And like many of you enjoyed a majority of the changes especailly new/revamped zones. Loads of things have changed mainly for the better as I'm struggling for the bad and plenty to discuss (old MoG vs new MoG?).

    Love the Hess TF and happy I've been able to do it more than once, tried the Eden one and failed miserably, but still enjoyable but never, ever done a sewer trail and reallly wants to!

    ED didn't really effect me cos I was thinking on the same lines as the current system and never really thought "ah 2 reds that'll double my damage" I just thought "surely 2 reds will just slightly increase my damage". I do remember in my very early days double slotting rest and run, for some reason I'd put a green in rest with a rec and a jump in run with a sprint which does make some kind of sense at least! I also remember picking a power pool power at lev 6 and not realising about Travel Powers (I came here from SWG so was expecting lots of walking...lots n lots, I even forced myself to do it when I first played, walking from zone to zone rather than use the trams) and by fluke had picked combat jumping allowing me to snap up super jump at 14, how excited I was and to think now due to temp powers I take that feeling for granted.

    Think thats most of my stupid/newbie stuff out of the way!

    Rats someone beat me to it! I've just been to Malta and saw no sign of any gunslingers therefore I'm disappointed...I did however learn all about the Great Siege of 1565, stick that in a story arc!

    If you're on defiant that would be me, my Bathory creation came mainly from history, I was doing a presentation on serial killers at about the time of getting CoH, I saw the poster for CoV on the back of the map supplied with the game and thought "aww man I wanna make a villain!!". So I set about my evil plan by thinking of evil women in history my first thought was Myra Hindley which I reserved for a couple of months before my inner-self told me that was probably bit close to the born and and wouldn't be good taste to run about with a toon named after a fairly recent evil woman. So my brain clicked and whirled abit more and I remembered about dear old Elizabeth (or Erzsebet in Hungarian) who I'd mainly learnt about by over playing Atmosphere as a child. Her name has that many translations I'm surprised she hasn't turned up more!

    When CoV went into beta I immediately made her a necro/poison MM which she stayed until the game went live...I also placeheld the name on Union...cos I'm nasty but that version has since been deleted!

  7. Removing the debt from the door critters might help (as far as I know the raiding zombies are like rading Rikti - they don't dish out debt) but like I said earlier it's still annoying and ill-mannered aswell as a form of harrasement.
  8. it's not so much the debt/dying part that gets me its just the incredible lack of manners over something like a badge, lack of manners anywhere really gets my goat...and you don't want my goat, he eats everything!

    Nope you're blameless I was about at the sametiime (thanks for Zombie Apocalypse team). This was away from the carnage you were intending to create ;-) and was just a bunch of peoplerunning around like headless chickens wanting as many doors as they could

  11. Noticed the drops aren't too great, be nice if we got some salvage and a costume. Got 10 cossies and only 2 bits of salvage after about an hour of door knocking =(

  14. Only pun type name I have is Stalking Dead my undead dark/wp stalker - shock horror!

    Still proud of the hero version of the Clockwork King - Clockwork Queen, invented to battle the clockwork trouble.

    Then there's my House of Cards group consisting of Mr Club, Mr Spade, Mistress Heart and Miss Diamond (or Club, Spade, Heart and Diamond to their friends)

    Then names like Elizabeth Bathory, Chosen One and Enigma which I'm proud of cos of the amount of people that have alturnatives to these names and I get to brag about.

    Oh and Trollslayer, cos he's small...ginger...and carries a rather large axe, which he's able to slay trolls with, without even having to play WAR!

    Multi Builds

    Could be useful outside of PVP for say corruptors, I know that whilst making the journey to 50 with my fire/therm it can be a pain having a ton of team powers but having to solo. Therefore (as it's been mentioned) it's good to have the option to focus on the blasting side of corrs for solo'ing and switching to "team friendly mode" for teams, I'm sure there're are plenty of other builds this'll help out just corrs sprang to mind when I read it!

    I don't dare total the amount I've paid for CoX only cos I'm one of those people that think wow "£523.49" (that's made up but it probably won't be far off!) I could have bought myself xxxx (insert wanted item here) and forget about all the fun I've had!

    Then again I've probably saved a heck of amount of money by playing CoX due to the fact that since I've started playing I've been thinking twice about buying new games, often leaving me to sit for awhile before purchasing them, other times just forgetting about them altogether. Mainly due to the fact a lil voice says to me "why spend £30 on a game you'll hardly play and when you do get round to playing it, it'll be £20 or less in the shops".

    So thanks CoX for making me think for a change

    I thought I clearly covered this quite awhile back.

    Permit me to try one more time. In the alternate worlds where the devs launch my proposed system, the xp would be capped.

    The way xp is distributed would be altered for the new system. If my level ten is sked by a 50 against a level 53 he would recieve the same xp as if he were faceing a +1 in a normal unsked mission.
    The maximum xp an sked player could get would be relative to a +1.
    So imagine he were in a mission of his own fighting plus ones and he recieved 50 xp for "defeating" a +1 minion. He's then invited to a level 50 mission againsts 50 and 53s.
    He beats a 50 minion. He recieves.. 50,xp. He beats a 53 minion. He recieves .. 50 xp.

    This is because, to prevent that kind of abuse and to keep the sk in the spirit in which is was intented (friends teaming across the levels)the game would be set to only allow the same xp as plus one.

    So, it woulkd be impossible to get the xp for +4 or +5 therefore it would NOT be Plers paradise.

    And as for oner 50 dealing with a map of 8 spawn, using 7 sked level 10s or 20s, you have to be really really good to do that and not have an untold number of deaths to the lower level (training io) players. Most people are nowhere near that standard.

    Thus killing PL'ing altogether? And also (unless its with friends but even then...) making SK'ing pointless, why SK against foes which will be more difficult for the same xp? I'd rather go back to my low council and family mishes than do that!

    I can't see any benefit (unless its to those that want to PL) of being able to SK multiple toons. The system thats in place now works, sure it pops up with a couple of annoyances but what system doesn't?

    Someone discussed this idea ina team I was in last week and I scoffed...when asked why I replied with an answer pretty close to FFM's to which they replied "ah..yea".

    so once again I scoff

    I'd love this as well, but apparantly, the game engine, (again, I know), can't handle such effects. I cannot remember where, as my search-fu is terribly weak, but I think I remember Posi saying that the current "Energy Blast" set started off as water, but they couldn't replicate the effects.

    Ah yea remember that now, I swear my brain is slowly switching itself off now, especially thinking about it energy is pretty much water blastation with all the knockback etc...altho I still do like the idea of water control, sucking it from the critters or giving them too much along with water shields

    I get the feeling there's more to a secret identity than this, so they don't want to rule out doing it better in the future (be that in COX or a different game).

    Secret identities have a whole raft of consequences in superhero terms that don't fit into "where you log out". I would hope that if they implemented Secret Identities they would have to be something you would need to maintain, build and nurture. You'd have to show up for work, stop people from finding out who you really are, take steps to prevent people who have found out from telling the world... who knows what else.

    I just think it's too big a part of super hero culture for NCNC to blow the whole thing on an off line reward system.

    But yea the name is probably being kept for some massively secret agenda we're not allowed to know about. For some reason I thought Issue 13 might have a bit of a dark twist with it being 13 n all I guess my feelings got clouded

    Yea which is why I'd like the standalone "human" AT which means no change and a big flashy button next to it saying "beginners start here!!"...well maybe not the button but some text stating that or indeed an advanced players menu. I wouldn't like the resist/prone to numbers to be too much tho just like the idea of the toons origins to be taken into account. Certain powers would have be account for tho, being more prone to psionics isn't much fun afterall!
  22. These have probably been discussed before but thought I'd throw them into the mix for the sake of doing so:

    Toon Secondary Origins - I know affiliations have been mentioned before, such choosing your villain group in CoV or hero one in CoH. But what about what your toon actually is?? Everyones got a toon that's something and I just thought it would be cool to gain dis/advantages due to this. For example when creating a toon after picking your AT and origin you get a secondary origin list this could depend on what you chose for your origin or not. In this list you get things such as Robot, Monster, Thick Skin, Human, Alien, Undead etc etc and depending what you pick you gain certain changes in your base numbers. Robots for example could have a small natural resistance to toxic but be more suspectible to electricity or smashing powers (this is just a quick example). Undead could be resistant to Neg powers but prone to fire etc etc

    If you don't want a small strength/weakness then just pick human and be the norm mr. average. Just think it'll be cool to actually be what you're supposed to be!

    Powers - Gonna try and keep this brief...TRY! It has been mentioned before (I know cos I've said it) but I'd still love water powers, most probs this will suit blaster, defender, controller, dominator, corrupter ATs. What I have is mind is defo a def AT with a water secondary blast set with small squirts of water amassing to tidal waves and what not! Coupled with a water aiding prim with powers such as healing waters etc etc.

    Also I quite like the idea of an insect powerset for MM's being able to summon swarms (tier 1), larger insects (tier 2) and some giant cockroach (or something) as the tier 3 pet.

    And there we go...just throwing the ball out there and seeing if anyone fancies catching it

    I think there may be a slight chance of getting Archery/Trick Arrow for Corruptors, at least I know a few people who'd love that.

  24. Yea totally agree with the OP which why I'm still here after 42 months (my brains too asleep to convert this into years...3 years and 6 months...it woke up). In this time I too have tried various MMORPG's and none hook me as much as CoX SWG when down the pan and was too much grind for me, WoW pretty much the same and just didn't like it, Lineage 2 left me lost and just plain bored and everything else I can't remember didn't do anything for me. I have just started playing GW again and quite enjoying it but think that'll whine in a couple of weeks. Looking forward to WAR but the samething will probably happen, I log in and go "oooh thats cool...thats nice" make a couple of toons and then get bored and go back to CoX.

    It has since day 1 fitted me like a glove, even with the additions of PvP (Meh) and inventions (which I enjoy - to my own person shock). As I've said over and over again I just love the costume designer, powers and just the freedom of being able to make/do what I want. I can wear something that suits my toon and looks good rather than having to worry about it not being as good as another piece of equipment or whether or not it'll break in my next mission.
