Yup, i even took grant invis for this, a pet called 'necro boom!'. Send him in passive, hit the button and move out the rest of the minions. Then hit soul exact, free pet and lotsa dmg
But if your tier3 pet is recharged, use him instead to get a really good ghost. Since the lich is ranged anyway, you can cast him next to you and let him straight go to work again. -

And then you say 'why only 8'? You ever seen how many powers you effectivly use in WoW for example? I wonder if i even gonna hit 8. Guildwars remains quite unique with their skill-system, you build your character based on over 500 skills, so dynamic that each mission you can walk around with different skills. Imaging yourself a Hero, you can pick 20 powers of _all_ powers available, how long it will take you to find perfect balance? (ok, in this game the limitation actualy creates balance).
I wrote an article for a magazine years ago, mostly regarding from WoW to other games, and its kinda impossible to write a solid tutorial. Some people are mechanic freaks, numbers, stats, system, everything. Others however are purely lore people, care little for the numbers only for juice stories. Some prefer this, others prefer that, some like this, some want that. Some play pure for end-content, stuff they might not find here (in the same content).
I played alot MMO's, really alot. But in no way i can tell any player of those games how CoH is, how it works. Plain by a Q&A its way easier to explain 'in their language' how CoH works. Sometimes you just cant tell all the exact differences, specialy if its a totaly different 'theme'. (fantasy vs medival vs heroes vs ancient china).
However, you can find simularities (proper spelling?). WoW has a very steep start, just like CoH. Endurance is a huge issue, enhancements(=gear) is a issue, survivability, running around the world for quests etc. You can tell bits about expected end content.
So i think its easier/better to make 'cases'. Someone tells a story wich game he plays, what he likes and others can reply this how this is done in CoH. Personal replies to personal preferences. -

For the devs, the posttracker module for VBB, isnt that something u guys can use? Out of the box it pretty much does what the old digest did. (filter, search, local-timezone etc). -

For the power? NO. a big huge no. If there is someone worse then others in the team doing knockback, its doing knockback yourself. The thug (MM) version btw has changed into a knockdown, although i love to see this also for the SS set its unlikely.
Stun sets are not that great afaik, In that case you rather can pick a 'random' power that can be better used for IO sets, like hover (def sets are always nice) or even aidother (healset). -

I care little for that hyped up thing, as long they post the same news on the normal ways too.. on the forums.
I believe the first news of I16 was also from twitter (i call it twatter btw), aint that a bit 'weird' to read the news not on the forums, not on the website, but on some stupid twitter thing? -
Still having the same issue, although the only thing i could think up is our proxy server at work. But cant see how that could affect it, there are no restriction on it whatsoever.
Strangly, it always was only this forum (old and new one) where i have these issues, no other website or board i ever had these issues. -
A few ingame things i have noticed:
If a EU player will go on the US server, or talk about gameplay, know this:
-Its common as blaster to have tough, prefered weave
-You are gimped if you are not softcaped or at least purple IO'ed
-Badges are nothing, as long u got the basic ones of AE you're good.
-Without a kin, dont even start the mission.. you will loose, or everyone leaves after first mob.
-If you are looking for a group, use /b, /l and request channel, 5 times, by default.
-If you are a kin troller, you better be fire/, else welcome to City of Solo.
-Even if you are just lvl8, you should be a full tanker from lvl1 and tank 53bosses without problems.
-Knockback equals kick
-If you are sonic, thermal, frost or FF, dont worry about shields, nobody will noticed. If you are Kin, DO YOUR FREAKING JOB. (aka, SB everyone, FS every group).
-Defenders do _not_ exist in City of Heroes. If they do, they are gimped blasters. Trollers do just perfectly fine for support.
-Never.. i mean never, serious never, mention that it might be better to lower the difficulty a bit to speed things up, you are soooo wrong. Purple mobs equal exp, got it?
-As british, dont try funny jokes, they just wont understand
-There are no travelpowers, Atlas aint that big!
-Learn the 'convert 3 insp into 1' rule, you look stupid when you reply to 'what u need?', 'a rez?'.
-Never make jokes about Obama sounds like Osama. Ever. (this apply to forum rules 31: when WW2 is dragged into the conversation, the whole conversation reached its end).
-Nobody knows Golden Girl..serious, they dont. (really? Impossible!! i know.. weird people).
-Blind teaminvites equals AE missions.
-Chimora is actualy populated, it is not a ghost town.
-If you do the Chimora TF, pretend u spamming powers, even though the whole time you never see anyone moving (LAAAAAAAG).
-If you only do AE, never put enhancements in your powers, you look silly.
-The avarage framerate on peekhours in AE Atlas - Freedom is around 0.25.
-You never crash, you DC.
-Buff random people fighting on the streets, you get very friendly replies (serious).
-It is common to use a dot or a misspell in your name, it makes you look 'veteran'.

Im saying that nearly everything is done purly by kin, the reason other AT's cant easily reach that (or basicly, never - brute perhaps only due already high dmg cap and fury). A corrupter and defender might do the same (provided they have SL armor from the epic/patron), and i know they wont do the same damage, but regarding this post.. they can also do this. -

1. Afaik melee powers arent affected by boost range. Initial its 7ft, should give you enough time to smack him back before he even tries to attack. (mobs have a slight delay before they do the attack)
2. Epic pool, cryo freeze rayOn my AR/ice it been my bread and butter for really alot of lvls: "look! burning ice!". But with Cryo you can just put ignite out and continue on the next mob. Added that in a tem, there is always someone with immobilize.
3. If you use them. I have 1 in the tier2 power and it does proc once in a while, mainly because i spam tier1/2 attacks pretty much nonstop. My recent respec i took Buckshot also (with range IO's, as i dont have BR), also with a +rech proc. Although you hardly notice it when it procs, even with i think only 10% rech from sets, my hasten sometimes is nearly permanent. -

45% resist against tier1 still equals instakill, you even put them in a location where they perform even worse (they are ranged, cone based). Maybe the seals might be usefull for it, using commando is a waste imho.
Lets take the other sets:
Repair - meh, but for tier3 bot its a instant full heal.
Extract essence - wooo, free pet, can be immume, slot for recharge intensive pet.
Call gang war - woo again, lotsa pets, funny and slot for recharge intesive pet.
smoke bomb - wooo, 10 seconds of perma critting. (soaring dragonfly is wah dmg).
So the way i see it, they all increase damage or increase survivability greatly.
Why not give it something interesting? Few randoms:
Super-equip: give 1 pet high-tech weaponry from the army, commando gets a gatling gun, seals get a airstrike/tripbombs, tier1 pets get grenade launcher.
Airstrike: call forth a airstrike, damaging anyone at the targeted location. Casting is short, but it takes a while for the plains to get into position.
Army Serum: based on original serum, but affect all pets. Give 25% resist, 25% health boost, minor regen/recovery.
Ammo Supply: by using state of the art ammo, all mercs will have additional abilities with their bullets. Commando deals 25% more dmg, seals get a res/def debuff, soldiers gain 10% boost. -

I have 3 trollers myself (ill, earth, fire), i very well know fire is by far the most damaging.
(if they ever would nerf the hell out of fire/, i think it would be par with regen's IH toggle to a clicky nerf)
Back to tankers. I wonder what elec is gonna be for tankers, with the new energize power they have a interesting new power, although i dont think that it will be enough alone to keep you going. But it has a auto hit end-recovery with only slots already below 30sec, build in 20% recharge (40%ish to go).
I'm still jumping around with my WP/fire and fire/ice, last one to see if the original concept is still viable (after numberous of nerfs on burn). WP/fire has huge survivability, so i can mainly focus on the attacks, and with several powers with heal, those doctored wounds help alot getting alot more recharge and still keep it rather cheap. (as altoholic, life is harsh here). -
Anything with redraw, stop putting weapon away when u cast a power of the other side of the set. A regen doesnt have to put his sword away to heal himself, a AR blaster doesnt have to put his gun away to use buildup, why even put it away while its in the left hand while doing something else with the right hand? With SD its even worse, due a clicky that u have to use every xx seconds.
Oh and mercs, totaly. -
I still think its unlikely they soon will get attention, its been like this since basicly the start of CoV. The only good things were the -recharge unaffected thingie, the increase AI stuff, errr.. well, that about. Also i cant remember _ever_ that devs mentioned mercs being 'behind' on the other sets, apart from some 'ya ya we look at it.. ok we have looked, kkthxbb'.
Normalisation never got totaly through to these, unlike the AR from blaster/corrupter.
Besides, GR gonna give demon summon, i rather pick that -

Yet, each toon with APP/EPP and tough can already reach a high considerable ammount of resistance on a main and secondair element. Together with 2 sets in the game that provide a huge boost to resinstance (sonic, thermal). These are provided _after_ their softcap defense. Both defense and resist have always been part of this game, i dont mind these being depending on a few sets in the game (FF/ice vs therm/sonic). Its the IO part where it just doesnt make sence.
Added, all AT have resistance cap. Only tank and brute have 90%, khelds 80 and rest 75%. Again this doesnt match against the 2:1 ratio of defense versus resist (incase only tanker, being 45% versus 90%). 'unlucky' shots are imho part of the defense system, just like resist will _always_ (5% floor excluded) be hit by mez, a debuff or sortlike, in those terms resist already has a penalty. (see Tsoo EM mobs).
I'm not asking for a softcap (well, hardcap) resist blaster, i'm asking for logical explenation why resist is basicly non-exsisting in IO-sets. Why is there a unique 3% defense, but no resist counterside?
Nobody can convince me that 10-15% resist is that gamebreaking it totaly fooks up the whole game engine and its balance. Because that is howmuch defense you can get rather easy from IO sets (as long u got the bucks), and even if i had qadrilionzillion influence, i will never be able to do the same resist-wise.
So baseline again: What happened to the 2:1 ratio in this game regarding defense versus resist?
(in terms of availability, cap and overall AT balance). -
