If you can build around 30%ish positional defenses on a resistance based toon (Fire/Dark/Elec Armor), which isn't terribly difficult, popping a small purple inspiration will make you a god, even in the toughest of encounters (STF, RSF, etc).

Sounds like that's the 'new' thing to do, too

Quote:I wouldn't exactly say that is a good idea, since Snow Storm can be rather harsh on endurance, especially during a sustained fight that may last 10mins or so. Ring of Fire in itself is a very decent attack to include in your chain: Flares, Blaze, Flares, RoF.An easy way to keep AVs at range is simply take hover and take snow storm (since it is a -fly) from the ice epic to keep them grounded. You don't need to use multiple applications of ring of fire that way. If the AV can't fly then, you don't even need snow storm.

You slot it for damage too, with a Thunderstrike set.

The real question is, why did you rip off P-Forge's name
-
You can 6slot Fire Imps with Expedient Reinforcement and Stupify into Flashfire for some +6.25% rech and +3.125% ranged_def. I'd also recomend dipping in the Fighting pool to get Tough (useful when stacked with your patron shield) and Weave (for more extra defense/LotG+).

You can probably replace Combustion or Hotfeet with Incinerate, if anything as a mule for a Mako's Bite set for +3.75% more ranged_def

I like the current Granite Armor, I definitely couldn't live without it on my SS/Stone Brute.

Quote:RoF and Fire Blast are both also good ST attacks.I'll have to hop on test and try the Inc>Crem>FS chain. Not sure I have enough recharge to pull it off, but with Fire Ball mixed in it might work out.

Blaze Mastery rocks even more than I expected it too. Just wish they'd rearranged the order a bit so I don't have to take Char/RoF.
-
You can build your attack chain with Cremate, Incinerate and either Fire Sword or Scorch (depending on your preference) if you have enough recharge in your toon.

Incinerate-Cremate-Fire Sword = great attack chain

Quote:But then if you're just looking to farm, you go with something that has a lot of AoE damage (Fire/EM Blaster) not a single target specialist (Claws/Rgn)But then with the notable exception of The Lost there aren't many mezzes around at L10-13, so mez protection would be a wasted power pick anyway if you're just looking to farm.

He also got spider legs, and he definitely has some degree of invulnerability and super strength
-
Most Scrappers are rather weak at level 10, being forced to be in melee range without mez protection is crippling for survivability. In this situation a Blaster is by far superior for the reasons mentioned above.

 Another vote for Fire/EM Blaster

The redraw between rifle and blades would make it not as effective as a present day blapper with defenses built in with IO's and Epic/Fighting shields.

Quote:Except "tank" is a widespread MMO term that refers to the person leading the team and grabbing the mobs' aggro, and it's been around since long before CoH.The actual City of Heroes "Tank" archetype can't do anything about those outrageous examples you guys came up with too.

And there's no such thing as "the actual City of Heroes 'Tank' archetype". We have a Tanker AT blueside and a Brute AT redside which fullfill the role of a tank, if that's what you were babbling about.

And like I said before, having a full corruptor team buffed up to the teeth and pwnz0rin everything in the room is a very good approach, but again that's not tanking. You may call it obliterating, devastating, decimating, crushing, punishing, heck you may even call it corrupting and that's cool, but tanking? nope.
-
Even with Provoke 6 slotted you still won't be doing a lot of tanking, especially in our new world of fighting +4/x8 spawns. Even MMs in BG who are possibly the most survivable toons redside have trouble keeping aggro away from his teammates AND the AoE splashing the pets.

Getting a handful of corruptors to cross-buff each other, eat candy and steamroll through content is an effective tactic, but it is by no means tanking.

Quote:Ingame experience from a few months back when WP and the Combat Monitor Window came out. I think I have the screenshots somewhere showing the difference in numbers on the Combat Monitor Window, I'd have to do some digging.Do you got the math to explain those inverse ratios, or have some sort of live experience with slotting those unique procs into RttC?

Basicly I monitored regen and did the tests: RttC was 6 slotted: 3 numis and 3 rgn'tis with 95% heal enhancement and the 2 uniques. Level 50 toon. I went to PI and fought a level 48 CoT Mage and the numbers showed a higher-than-normal regeneration value. Then I went to the RWZ to fight +4 Rikti and the regeneration value granted by the proc (shown by the Combat Monitor) was very small, mucher smaller than when fighting the mage.

Kinda hard to tank if you have no means of holding aggro.

If you're looking for to build a tank redside then a Brute is the AT best suited for the task IMO, especially with those pockets you seem to have for that proposed build.

Quote:The higher a mob cons, the lower the regeneration bonus it gives (when the proc is slotted in RttC)The procs has 100% chance to go off. I dont see any difference on having it on a passive or a toggle that you will have on at all time.

Now what is this lower number on the procs when facing higher con foes you speak of?

Uniques in RttC are a BIG nono.
-
Whatever you do, don't slot it in RttC.

Quote:I'd keep FS, Cremate and IncinerateI am currently running up a fire/shield/blaze with the hope that it will be around lvl 40 when i16 hits. I can only fit 3 ST attacks from fire/ in my build, firesword is a non-option to give up. So between cremate, Incinerate and GFS, which should I give up. I do not plan on exemping much and if I do I can always use SO'd second build to be more low-level friendly, if we choose against cremate. I plan on having fireblast, which can be used as a stand-in for the missing 4th ST attack.

Tank built to scrap is usually better, IMO

The previous poster nailed it with "you'd be something short of a tank and not really a good dps scrapper". An invuln Scrapper has nowhere near the tanking potential of a real Tank (tanking in the true sense of the word: managing aggro), while a Tanker can be built for some impressive DPS while still retaining the aggro managing abilities

You'd be better off with a Elec/SS tank IMO.
