Madness to drop GFS?
You can build your attack chain with Cremate, Incinerate and either Fire Sword or Scorch (depending on your preference) if you have enough recharge in your toon.
Incinerate-Cremate-Fire Sword = great attack chain
I'll have to hop on test and try the Inc>Crem>FS chain. Not sure I have enough recharge to pull it off, but with Fire Ball mixed in it might work out.
Blaze Mastery rocks even more than I expected it too. Just wish they'd rearranged the order a bit so I don't have to take Char/RoF.

Althought Greater Fire Sword is a great attack, if it were my build, I'd probably be going for the Incinerate -> Scorch -> Cremate -> Scorch chain. It's good DPS, fairly easy to achieve and is light on endurance. That would let me focus more attention on other aspects of the build.

I'll be dropping GFS on my Fire/Fire when I16 goes live so I can get Fire ball For me it is easy to do because I will still have a good DPS attack chain with Incinerate/Scorch/Cremate/Scorch and I will have Great AoE with Fire Sword Circle and Fire ball.

After adding a bit of recharge I can pull off the FS>Inc>FS>Crem chain so long as Hasten is up. I just add in Fire Blast for the brief Hasten downtime and it's perfectly workable.

I can't do it... It can be done and still get high DPS with other attacks but I just can't drop GFS. Especially with i16 comming. I can't do it simply for fact of being flashy! i16 will allow me the ability to make all sword attacks with the GFS. I've ran it on test. It looks too good. And the colors... I'm not going to even start. As I said. Its not insane. But why do it?

What is the best chain to run that doesn't have GFS that provides Inc>GFS>Cremate like numbers?

Well the best Chain without GFS is Inc>Cremate>FS I don't have the numbers but that is going to be the best Chain without GFS.
Why Blasters? Empathy Sucks.
So, you want to be Mental?
What the hell? Let's buff defenders.
Tactics are for those who do not have a big enough hammer. Wisdom is knowing how big your hammer is.
Casttime=1.2
ACT=1.452
Thank you for the info.

GFS provides that heavy burst when I need it.
You could pretty much pick any 3 of the attacks and should be ok.
I currently run Inc->FS->GFS->FS on my FM/SD.
You compalin about GFS hitting a dead enemy, but you're taking incinerate? How eccentric.

That said. I don't use Incinerate on anything less than a Boss in most circumstances. Even with the recharge on SC, FSC and Fire Ball are up often enough that it takes care of the rest of the mob while I kill the boss.
It seems that the consensus (such that it is) is that I should take whatever I want that I feel works. I'm not very good at the numbers, mostly because I don't have the formulas, but the chain of Inc>FS>Crem>FS feels like it's the best option so far from what I've tried on test. How do I calculate how much recharge it takes to make that fluid?

I've been working on my build for my Fire/Shield trying to tweak little things here and there and I've realized that I kind of hate Greater Fire Sword's animation time. On teams things are generally dead before it finishes, and solo I can hit 2 other attacks just as fast or faster. That said, is it insane to drop GFS?
After much reading it seems the drop off between GFS>Inc>Cremate>FS and Scorch>Inc>Cremate>Scorch isn't all that great. ~5%?
By dropping GFS I'd also drop Conserve Power and Grant Cover to make room for Blaze Mastery and rearrange a few slots as needed.
Here's my build. Any other advice is always welcome if something sticks out.Thanks in advance.
