Quote:That video always makes me sad. D:I imagine something like this would be appropriate for you.
But seriously, let's take a look:
1. Magic: You die, and sprites fly out of your body.
2. Tech: You die and gears/nuts&bolts fall out.
3. Science: You die and yellow-green liquid shoots in different directions.
4. Mutant: You die and yellow-green liquid shoots EVERYWHERE!
5. Natural: Mr. T comes in and delivers the finishing blow. Obviously. -
Quote:Call me crazy, but I enjoy the themed costume pieces... Again, maybe it's just me. When I was told that I could unlock Vanguard costume pieces by working with... Vanguard, I was impressed, and the same went for the ITF.But we already have that. We have worse than that. We have unlockables that require you to play specific content. Vanguard costume pieces and a enormous robot pet? Vanguard merits, ship raid is the easiest way, fighting Rikti also works but not as quickly. Roman armor? Do the ITF. Rularuu weapons? Kill 100 Overseers (or do some other Rularuu-related content). Want Hami-Os? Do a Hamidon raid (lawl) or the STF/LRSF.
Yes, there are some disadvantages, but these things are never mandatory; you don't NEED to go to Cimerora if you want to make a gladiator, and you don't NEED to help Vanguard if you want to make an officer-type fellow, but they help! I wouldn't mind some specific salvages be dropped in specific zones... Granted, not 1 or 2, but at least have more than Magic/Arcane.
But I get ahead of myself here... /signed on the idea itself. -
Quote:But then what happens if you click 'No'? Do the others get no XP/Rewards, or do you just keep the mission for yourself.Actually, I've always felt that missions shouldn't count as complete if you're offline at the time of its completion. At the very least, I'd like to see that as an option. One of the BIGGEST things that worry me is a team leader picking a mission I want to save. Afterwards, there is not a damn thing I can do about it, because even if I log off, the team can still finish the missions without me. Consider it like Collaborative missions. Next time you log in, you get the message "Your mission was complete without you. Would you like to accept that?"
If it's the latter and, I know with the latest changes in I16 it's not so strong a rule, it can still be considered an exploit: Create a team, have them run the Shaper Cult mission, log out as soon as everyone's in, everyone completes/gets the bonus, log back in and select 'No', and repeat. -
Myth: Flash Arrow on an MM will get you killed, because affected mobs will go straight for you.
Fact: Henchmen are an extension of yourself, and therefore, the main target. -
Quote:But it DOESN'T make sense! Sure, you were booted due to technical difficulties, but between Pork and myself, here are the potential outcomes of ANYTHING like you're suggesting:Ok, in your scenario my idea does sound like the wrong way to go I will admit that, but that's not what happened. I was having technical problems and had to relog before going back to the mission. They had a full 5 to 10 minutes inside my mission without me and no one was anywhere near a boss when I left. This was just purely apathetic. I will agree that certain difficulties need to be ironed out before and if such a thing is implemented but it isn't rubbish.
edit: Thanks BBQ Pork you must have been typing at the same I was and you made basically the same points that I was going to make.
1. You save the mission for yourself while the others are now completing a sort of 'mirror' -- Exploit.
2. The team gets no end-of-mission bonus experience because you were not there. -- BS.
3. The team's objectives are made impossible to finish because you're not around -- BS.
4. The team doesn't receive bonus exp until YOU get your stuff together -- BS.
5. The team is booted from the instance -- BS.
So, there you have it. There's no way this idea can make it without it causing massive problems for some people. -
My vote: Death animation by Origin.
You may all now throw spears at me and impale me on the nearest stake. -
Personally, I wouldn't mind. Be prepared, however, for a throng of people telling you that 'playing in [zone] shouldn't be a requirement to get [loot]!'.
-
Umm... What?
Imagine you've got the Frostfire mission, so your team is just working their jolly butts away towards Mr. Freezy. They finally get there, but YOU die, so then what happens to them inside? Do they kill him, but just have to wait for you to step inside? No, that's moronic.
Does Frostfire become invulnerable until you're back in? Oh, goody good, you've just caused a teamwipe.
Is the team booted from the instance until YOU get back? Well, no, that just wouldn't make sense.
In short: This idea is rubbish. -
Quote:Y'know, they added the option to disable XP in... What? I13? I12?And then you discover that you out-leveled those contacts because you were stuck doing scanner missions and dying frequently, resulting in you missing out on practically all of the content in the game. Awesome!
I'm not saying that this idea is perfect-- far from it, but something NEEDS to replace debt, some sort of penalty.
Quote:Yeah... no. Directly tying contacts to your willingness to abandon your team or exclusively solo, or a player's understanding of the game's systems and mechanics (i know, it sounds shocking to experienced players, but there are actually new players joining every day, players who have no idea what X does or how to use it, which can lead to defeat quite frequently), not to mention emphasizing solo-friendly builds over team-oriented builds even more than the game already does, and making normal game content potentially inaccessible to new, unlucky or just plain bad players (who still enjoy playing, despite being debt-capped, because they like the stories/missions/enemies), just doesn't seem like a wise course.
Quote:This is terribly discriminatory against flame mastery blasters, you know. In fact, any character with Rise of the Phoenix available ought to *gain* reputation for throwing themselves into the middle of the fight, nuking, then rising from defeat in a blaze of fiery awesomeness to smite their enemies. I'm supposed to forego a chance to deliver an extra 600 points of delicious sizzling AoE damage because of some poxy civilian contacts' narrow-minded ideas about appropriate hero behaviour? Feh, I say! Forwards, for death AND glory!
But it's ALSO 'discriminatory' (by the way, LOVE the use of wording, there) to: Regeneration, Willpower, Empathy, Pain Dominance, Dark Miasma, Poisons, Dark Armor, because they all have a resurrection power. Aside from Self-Destruct, having yourself purposely die in combat? It's a cognitive dissonance.
Once again; this is a very rough-sketch idea. This isn't the finished product, nor anything close to it. -
Yes! Dual Pistols/Martial Art Assault! What shall we call it?
Oh, I know! Dumb!
But seriously, let's work on more Primaries first. -
NO. N-O-O.
Losing exp is the thing that would make me tug my hair out and leave this game quicker than anything else. I hate the idea of backtracking in terms of exp. -
Please, PLEASE hear me out! I'm not requesting a WoW-style system of Reputation!
Debt, in the world of Paragon City, is a joke. I don't mean to offend anyone when I say that, but between debt reduction, the fact it's not much of a punishment to begin with, and Patrol XP? Debt is no more frightening than an issue of MAD Magazine.
No, I'd like to suggest Reputation as a form of 'Debt' alternative... But what exactly IS reputation?
Reputation is how Paragon City perceives you. It is what distinguishes the good from the bad, the better from the worse, and the Heroic from the Average.
Reputation is a variable that your character will have based upon successful missions vs. defeats, and depending on how your reputation is, on a scale of -10 to 10, will determine how the city reacts to you. Every character will start out at 0 -- a neutral point in the Reputation.
Let's go through some examples...
You start a mission, but find that you die 10 times along the way. This will take 10 points off your reputation; if you were at 0, you're now at -10, and if you're at 10, you're now at 0. Let's say you finish the mission, and you gain 1 Reputation for completing it, so the net loss is -9.
Now, your contact notes this, and he/she's disappointed... This is Paragon City, darnit! You're not the only Hero running around looking to help them, and they're gonna see about other inquiries until you've got the proper reputation.
Now, let's say you've got -9... Your contact no longer wants to speak to you at your current level of reputation, nor do... Any contacts, for that matter! You're trapped, until you open up your contact list and find the scanner just aching for some action!
Therefore, you are able to raise your reputation via scanner missions, up to where your contact will take your help on further tasks, as you've 'redeemed' yourself. You go on with your life, and chalk that last mission of 10 defeats as a fluke, and you're off!
But wait, there's more!
Upon reaching a high-enough reputation, it will unlock contacts, depending on what zone you're in, and your level range! That's right... Say, you've done 9 successful missions without fault? The word's gonna spread, and more people are gonna want YOUR help! These people can offer SO much new content to the game for EVERY level group, and every zone!
This system would work for Heroes AND Villains, as you might've noticed, and I think would make the game a great deal better. I hope you'll consider Reputation, and see all it has to offer Paragon City. -
It gives me warm fuzzies to be able to partake in wholesale slaughter.
My Fire/Fire Blaster just found a way to quicken the grind. -
Yeah, there have been a few instances of the Witch Top causing a lot of commotion in the tailor, and even more in the community. Just goes to show that no matter what's taken out, SOMEONE will have some serious objections to it.

I don't really remember how I came to @Sigium.
My actual account name, Poyzinblud, was created about 7 - 8 years ago, when I was playing Phantasy Star Online, and Grandia 2. There was an attack; Poizon, in the game that I decided to use, but upped the ante and made it 'Poyzin'. After a bit more, 'Poyzin' became 'Poyzin Blood'. Not to be inconsistent, it became 'Poyzinblud'.
@Sigium, however? I think I was a junior in High School when I started really playing the game on a computer that could handle it. I remember I was just trying to pull a name out of my rear, and Knights of the Old Republic came into my head. There was a lightsaber crystal named 'Sigil'. I don't know how/why this popped into my head at that moment, but I wanted to edit it. Sigium... sounded a bit more flowing, and no one could pronounce it (See-jum). So, now it's my own, unique handle. -

Honestly, I'd like to see an entirely-new color-choosing chart that would allow us to work with a color wheel, choosing not only level of greyscale, but either the exact color that's put up on the wheel, or to be able to type the HTML code into it to derive the chosen color.
Get well soon, by the way! That works with color blind people, doesn't it? -
Quote:You mentioned 'abused'... As in 'exploited', or 'not to be done in such a way', when in fact, it's perfectly fine.Sigium I think you took it the wrong way, if you notice the wording
"somewhat more powerful"
it's mocking the fact we don't have these bonuses because every bonus makes you
"somewhat more powerful"
At least thats how I took it and why I lold
Of all of the readily-available sets we've got that are already VERY widely available, I wouldn't worry about moving around the 'Debt Reduction'. -
I'd love some more-accurate animal parts to work with. While I don't want CoH to drift somewhere into Furcadia, it would still be enthralling just to be able to have half of the Monstrous-like head options as the rival MMO.
-
This idea was built around a faulty premise; Controllers and MMs use pets in the same way.
This isn't the case, and by what I've read in the replies, it's been pretty torn to pieces. -
Quote:If all of your power in the game relies upon Set Bonuses, to the point it's considered 'abuse', I'd like to know what character you're creating. The problem with making resistance bonuses more widely available on sets is that someone could abuse them to make a character literally somewhat more powerful.
As for people complaining; let them, and replace it regardless. If you were to take out every NPC with names that went from Br - Ca, you'd still have an issue with people whining over nothing.
By the way, get rid of NPCS with names from Al - Ba. -
This is a nice idea until you take into account Stone Armor, which is very bulky. Picture, if you will, someone punching at half the speed of light, with big ol' granite fists. It's not a thematic issue, but more of a 'this animation looks horrible' issue.
-
I'd even settle for revamped arcs and contacts... I can't be the only one who's noticed that the newer contacts you talk to look so much fresher than the older ones.

More customization for our character appearance? /signed.
More detail on the different sliders for our physical properties? /signed!
More options in the general character creator?! /SIGNED!
Devoting an issue to it? /meh. -
