For those unfamiliar with the group, Isolators was started shortly after badges were introduced to the game. This was in the dark, dreary times before global chat, global tells, or even coalition chat. Back then, the only way to find a person from the forums was by chance or pre-arranged meeting.
The Isolators project was started so the people who post here in Victory could actually meet and play together, so that you could have some fun with the people you chat with online. Everyone made a new character for this new group. This is an once a week supergroup that plays every 8 pm Wednesdays.
When the vast majority of the group hits 50, we start a new run of the group, switching between CoH and CoV between runs.
You don't have to be an active forum poster to join, through it's encouraged. At the very least, be a member of the community; run missions, join in advertised task forces, etc.
If you're interested in joining up this run, please feel free to post interest here. Everyone is welcome.
A few notes:
Everyone is welcome.
Not everyone is welcome.
This is an once a week sg. If the group ends up at level 20 at the end of the night, please don't show up next week at level 25.
If you're a few levels behind due to playing less, don't sweat it, but try to catch up on your own or with a task force if you can.
We play 8 pm eastern on Wednesdays. -

Say, 50 per rack would be more reasonable. Let you trade/store a bit more for trading. As it is, Halloween salvage alone can easily fill that.

Well... Sides storage / moving things between characters.
I made heavy use of inspiration and enhancement storage. Shame the salvage storage bins are such a screwjob.

Do you really think any credible person respects that "man" enough to call him by his real name? He's lucky we're still not calling him Dr. Quaterjerk or worse.

Hell, the big thing about bubbles isn't necessary the def/res, it's the mez protection. That way you only have to worry about the aoe sleeps.

King's Row or the Hollows.
At this point, your build doesn't hugely matter. Also remember you can respec (rechoose your powers) later on, if you don't like your choices.

A clarification: You only get the bonus from power sets if you're at least least -5 levels to the level of the enhancement.
IE, if you're all slotted with level 50 full IO sets, you only get the set bonuses from level 45+.

Even before SKK and the zone opening up, too many people tried to use ship raids as MADXPLOL opportunities. It's both better and worse now, as GP has pointed up, due to sub-level 35 people now taking apart.
Another big factor; no. of bubblers AND no. of bubblers w/ teammates smart enough to keep mez protection for the sleeps on them.

Quote:And, of course, there's always the Shivan Option. One of the reasons why I suggest everyone keep that temp power on their character, for when Task Forces Go Bad / You Didn't Have a Good Setup for This TF.I was on a LG a few days ago that had some problems with Honoree... And there was two members of the team crying he was impossible to beat.
I suggested a quick fly to AE Shop, some tricky shopping of red Inspirations, and soon we were back pounding him. While he was unstoppable only I was damaging him (Blaster Archery/Mental), but managing only to slow his recovery. As soon as his unstoppable effect was down we all drank a few reds and he was down so hard that I felt guilty for picking on little Honoree... -
Quote:Son, you are SO sued for plagiarism. My opinion? I think CoV was a mistake on several levels.
I don't think it's a good idea to divide your own playerbase into two opposing factions if you don't have as many players as that other MMO. By making 30-50% of the playerbase invisible to each other you lessen the chance of finding other players to team with and you make it appear as if you have a much smaller playerbase than you actually have, which is bad PR.
Having two exclusive sides means you have to develop for each side. Anything you'll add to just one side of the game can only be experienced by a fraction of the playerbase. Thus you increase development costs and risk alienating the fraction of the playerbase that thinks it got less - Devs hate Villains.
The design of CoV is inherently flawed. The promise is, that you may play a villain. But the truth is, that it's only CoH painted red. The fundamental problem is in the basic motivation of heroes and villains. A villain is striving for change. The villain wants to accumulate power and ultimately wants to rule the world or something along these lines. Whereas the hero is fighting to preserve. Stability works well for a MMO, change doesn't. Actually I don't think it's possible for a teen rated PvE MMO like CoX to really have true villains. Even the villain NPCs in CoX are quite benign.
There is more. Problems with the ingame economy, artificial limits in co-op play (actually co-op play was a first step to bring the sides back together, GR seems to be the next step), balancing issues and maybe some other things.
Sure, CoV added some nice stuff. But I believe it would have been better to add it as an open expansion to CoH instead of treating it almost like a separate game. -

Going to be running a badge/no xp run of Silver Mantis (meant to do that before last session...).
Team Hamster found Scrapyard guarding our first door so the full sg beat him down. Finished running Operative Jerkland's arc, whole of Buzzsaw, and started up on Kristof Jaeger. Will finish Jaeger next week.

Quote:I'd call him a liar. He has a proven track record of revisionist history. :0I'm was aware Statesman said that. I would stop short of calling him a liar but I will point out Statesman's perceptions and intents were...odd to say the least. How you can design melee characters that root for every attack and claim PvP was always intended defies comprehension.

Eh. Given the time for game development, I wouldn't expect it for two years, even if they started working on it today.

PVP lead to their single greatest mistake; CoV. If they kept pvp to only a well developed arena, it would have worked. This isn't Lineage or WoW. There's not the interest or population for zone pvp, and zone pvp was the only reason to create CoV.
Just a waste of time and resources that they could have spent on making pvp better (and with more maps and variations, random events, npc's, etc etc etc) and adding more zones/contacts for just one side. -
Quote:If the base fragments IN GAME or OUT of game, the effect is the same; less people to team with.GR will actually help defrag the player base a bit... everyone will become Vigilantes and Rogues and be able to play all content.
It's one thing to fragment the base within the game, but it's quite another to do it across two titles.
