  1. The fact of the matter is that people think that they miss loads because most tank attacks make alot of noise when they hit, and very little if they miss, so you really notice it with a miss as there's no SMASH.

This also applies to Brutes as some people think they have very low base tohit when infact it is exactly the same as everything else (weapon Tanks get a slight accuracy bonus I think, Axe + War Mace that is).

To sum up, it's all in your head
  2. Yeah I think I'm the only Stone Tank left, everyone else being Granites, its a shame, because the other armours are great, and with buffs granite is not really necessary, I tanked a whole STF without using Granite once, had all the agro, tanked Recluse, it was fine.
  3. Unfortunately it sounded as if the TS server was full, so I didn't bother trying to log in, though I definately would have otherwise, probably like 80% of all those not on TS.

    PVP hide

A slotted Hide gives around 62% Defense to AoE, so slot it my friend, slot it good
  5. Hurdle is great for extra jump speed as well as height, and it along with swift is unsuppressed. For a Stalker, Health is not such a great power as max HP is low, so regen is not so great, especially at a level as low as Health is, Hurdle makes more sense.

Some people also think that stamina can be skipped, or at least delayed, without too much of a negative effect, I have not tried it but the thought of stamina not being taken ASAP is neither a new or rebellious decision, and has been done before, but not by me

Only read the last post so I don't know what's going on but I thought I'd try to clear up the Fitness thing

    a trio :D:D

Is this for PvE or PvP? PvP I'd go with Leon, but Energy Melee really leaves something to be desired in PvE; awful AoE, ST damage so high you may have trouble building fury, as some stuff goes down too fast for you to get the benefit, and you can't TF/ET absolutely everything, the rest of EM is a bit of a let down I think. I would go Elec Melee for PvE, Energy Melee for PvP, and Super Strength for a mix of the two.

Also, despite Ele armour having a really decent tier 9, the lack of a self heal makes things a little more hassle than it could be if you were any other armour set except energy aura (which is comically poor for brutes in PvE, no damage aura, no self heal, nothing except alot of typed defence toggles and energy resistance, and by alot I mean the average energy brute will have 4 or 5 toggles running at once, but I digress from the point lol). Fire is a great secondary for brutes as Healing Flames is awesome since the recent buff, you could almost get away with just having that + nothing else plus burn is great PvE and Fiery Embrace is great in general.

Of course if you think you'll be alright with a rad corr spamming the odd heal I guess you'll be alright as an /ele, you won't be as damaging as a /fire, but you'll have more end.

EDIT: Wow, there was only one typo in that whole thing.
  7. Best against RV heavies is Ice Slick, their KB protection is pitiful

Jack has his use, when you're being scrapped on his slows from CE combined with Arctic Air if you have it make it tough for them to do much, even if eluding, and if you are /ice and have CE too, well, the slows would be insane without actually having to do anything.

as an Ice/Thorn, defense gives me little trouble as I have Aim and alot of -defense as has been said earlier, and I can even hit eluders with it.

Issues powers and pools which I have to take makes it hard for me to get the Mu Guardian, but I think I made the right decision considering what I would have to drop to take it. This is not to say that Mu Guardian is not great in the right situations, but is just my opinion as an Ice/Thorn.

To the OP, Ice/Thorn ftw Slows, damage, tohit boost + -defense... ahhhh..
  8. The true master is one who has no style, no 'trick', Bruce Lee said something along those lines
  9. That's hardly the attitude that made this game great.
  10. But the majority of people I know who are level 50 aren't as n00by as those who enter BB for PvP purposes, and will either have backup or a decent enough build to see most people off. Maybe we're in the minority I guess
  11. Stalkers are best at killing bosses, and if they ghost paper missions, bosses are about a quarter or more of all their kills. Bosses are more likely to drop salvage than others, so if anything stalkers will be getting more efficient salvage per mob than others.

Hide is fundamental to a stalker's power. Stalker's inherent is Assassination, which I'm sure you know, allows them to achieve critical attacks 100% of the time with most moves if they attack with the power Hide activated, if they are not otherwise affected or affecting in the last 10 seconds. A stalker can also use Assassin's Strikes from Hidden, a state which can only be achieved with the power Hide or for a few seconds after using the power Placate, which has quite a long recharged compared to the 10 seconds you would otherwise have to wait.

Just because invisibility may be achieved, even though it won't and it will just be hightened stealth, it is not nearly the same as Hide, as an invisible stalker is not necessarily Hidden. If all stealth was the same as Hide, rest assured I'd get the Cocnealment pool on pretty much every character.

The only difference Stealth IOs make for stalkers is that they would be even harder to see, though I do not know the numbers for the IOs, but in conjunction with Stealth and Hide, you'd be pretty hard to spot even with perception. Hooray for Stealth IOs
  12. Yup, cause AV bashing 'specced level 50s are a piece of [censored] to kill, especially when they go around in groups . . .

  16. Confuse has come to be alot more useless in zones with i9; Thaw from Thermal and Antidote from Poison both give protection to fear and confuse now (frikkin' finally), making those annoying illusionists alot less annoying when in a team(get pwned power boosting confusers in RV, hoohah! ).

By the way if no one has actually defined confuse effects in PvP it basically works by adding a 50% chance to switch to a different, random target, every time the player clicks a power (or presses a power button for that matter). The pool of random targets are taken from what the PvPer can see at the moment on his/her monitor, which is why looking at the floor with the follow key on can sometimes allow the confusee to negate this effect, but chasing things down becomes alot harder). This applies for buffs, debuffs and attacks. In addition to this, half of all allies (who would normally appear blue-named to the confusee) appear orange (as if they are an enemy) and half of enemies (normally orange to the confusee) appear blue. I.e. if there were 6 heroes in the zone and 4 villains (all within perception range) 3 of the heroes would appear orange and the other 3 would appear blue, and 2 villains would appear blue and the other 2 would appear orange. This makes it quite hard to instantly distinguish friend from foe (off the top of my head I cannot remember whether team members are affected by this, but I think they are not, and always appear green.)

Very long winded explaination but I hope I covered everything.

    EDIT: Missed some stuff lol
  17. I'm there, Wintergreen (Ice/Thorn Dom) or theTorment (in the sig). I'll probably bring WG cause everyone and their dog has a Brute, so it seems, and holds will be nice for those mitos with less mez protection (is it the green ones? I think it's the green ones . . .)

    EDITedantic word change.

    Omnipotent

And the 4th probably didn't vote

By the by, one of ours (Syrith) is actually taking a break from the game for a while and we will therefore have to make a change to our team if we want to take part.

    We miss him so
  19. Grey Devil would look both swish and sexy in a top hat, I'm so doing this
  20. More than likely; boredom related deaths have risen around 3000% since the dawn of Tank V Tank PvP, the figures are staggering O.o
  21. Then you wait for one of them to die of something.
  22. For PvE you should probably slot taunt with recharge or duration as its autohit there, but apart from that I see no flaws, but then again I have no Ice tankers nor Energy Meleers so perhaps I'm not the best person to respond
  23. Of course if your inclinations are more towards the PvP, The Gathering might suit better
  24. Only reading the first post, I can only conform to the origional topic of this thread, namely the title, so I apologise if this thread has moved on slightly and the post makes little sense.

I have always had taunt on Rooks. In fact right now I have two taunts (second taunt because I dropped Stalagmites + couldn't think of anything better).

Sometimes mobs spread out. Sometimes mobs leave your aura (which I don't have, and have no problems tanking without it, but that is for another time). Sometimes its someone on your team's fault, sometimes it isn't. But these situations do occur, believe it or not, and just because someone has done something they shouldn't, if that, I'm not going to let a squishy get ganked just because I want Tough or Weave or Aid Self (granted AS is necessary for Ice tanks though, probably Tough too, but you get my meaning), so I will taunt the said spread mobs, and all those not hit by the first will be hit by the second or gauntleted by my ranged powers (Stone Prison, Fossilise, etc), before I continue punchvoking everyone around me, as it helps keep everyone alive and happy. Just because I thought a power could help me a little bit if I drop Taunt, I wouldn't because, though tanking spread mobs is possible with travel (even for a TPing Stoney, which I tried for a bit and still do when mobs are out of taunt range, which is a rarity), that I should have to stop the rest of the team letting rip with any or all of the powers they choose.

Anyone can tank in a team where everyone helps the tank to take and keep agro, the more challenging tanking (and more fun I think) is where everyone just does their thing and its the tank's fault if they die (which I enjoy when playing Rooks, and partly agree with, if I'm honest ).

Hope this post helps, and I'm not implying mine is the only way, but it is how I get the most fun out of tanking, and the team gets the best tanking out of me.

    Thank You

Today was kinda fun I guess, up to a point where it seemed half the server of Defiant CoH congregated in sirens to ruin the number ratio from heroes to villains (which was already stacked in hero favour anyway). This isn't meant to be a rant, but how do you guys get so many people there? SG chat, Global, or just extreme coincidence? I'm curious as to how we can get so extremely outnumbered and outbuffed so fast is all, as this one sidedness is currently hindering my fun atm, and I may have to switch to a less crowded zone to avoid getting ganked with a number ratio of 4-1 heroes to villains.

    [/rant]

Sorry for that and if I offend anyone (and I hope not) I am sorry
