Ok, I caught the line, but not the face. Guess I need my eyes checked. Was that someone from Trek? It certainly felt like a cameo moment.

    NCSoft Launcher

the game went down at 0700 Eastern time. I'm guessing maintenance. I'd just enough time to sign in, get to the Black Market, and then the forcible disconnection message came up.
  3. I had Sai Guy, a redneck who collected a trailer-full of martial arts and hunting magazines. After reading one too many of these, he decided to become a natural dual blade hero. His costume was a combination of ninja and deer hunter, with woodsy camouflage and a hunter orange ninja mask. It was hilarious fun, but I couldn't think of what to do with his other four costumes.

hmm, maybe I'll rebuild him anyway.

For me, Black Scorpion's over-sized armor fits the character perfectly. This is a pipsqueak psychopath overcompensating to the max. His whole existence is wrapped around the idea of adding new shiny to the armor. It makes sense one with that insane nature would have excessive armor. actually, I'm surprised it still has a scorpion form to it, and not a lumpy form with every collected nicknack attached.

I like GW, and cannot think of anything to add to the already full discussion on the subject.

I like the modern, high-tech Foreshadow look, very cool, however, since you asked, David, I don't think it connects to the character's story and nature. The costume doesn't say "reincarnation" nor "martial arts/chi fighter" to me. Still, it is a very impressive look.

Hero 1's design works for me because it fits his original purpose. He was initially the focus of the cape mission, so its pretty much all about the cape. The minimalistic approach to the rest of the costume, except the unusual helmet, draws the eye back to the cape. It makes the point. Now if they find the way to bring him back entirely, then his new status might mean a bit of lovin' for the costume.

I think the new Tyrant looks fantastic. Exactly what a tyrant portraying himself as a hero should look like

Captain Castille, I like. Though a fairly stock parts look, he has a costume that perfectly matches his nature: renegade arrogance and flamboyancy to spare. I could wish the rest of the renegade Sky Raiders, would be clothed with more "individualized" customization. Their true days as real soldiers are behind them. They're mercenaries now, and should not be merely uniformed drones. A little personality here and there is to be expected.
  5. I have been wondering since the first appearance of Eyepatch Woman why they picked someone to play her who has a similar appearance, including skin tone, to River.

If some of the fan theories are correct that River is capable of regeneration, I suppose she could have a dark side regeneration.

-And agree that CoH needs a better "Batman" if it is Manti who dies or takes up Statesman's mantle.
regarding BAB, its a long shot, but if the game, with the changes in Galaxy City, were to begin using technology that shifts the environment as the story develops, you could have a starting zone which ending in a heroic death.

I too like the idea of Manticore taking up Statesman's mantle, though I hope he visits Serge for a new helmet. And he doesn't have to remain a mortal archer. What if the lore were to say that in taking up the mantle, he, like us, begins the Incarnate journey? The hope would be to eventually duplicate Statesman's abilities.

Alternatively, I do hope if Statesman falls, they restore Hero 1. he sounds pretty cool and possibly the one guy who can match Stateman's power in battle. But that would mean some serious reworking of mission stories.

/hope it's good, but lightning twice...
I had the same thought. And I wondered where they would go with a third avatar series if society has advanced so much in a generation. Then I realized they could have a falling away and a apocalyptic society, one where no nation is in control, and a war between avatars has torn all the shiny down. That would be a challenge for the earth avatar to guide to rebuilding, which would be a natural earth theme anyway.

Have they ever discussed doing the full cycle of four elemental avatars?
  11. The Gordian Knot had fewer twist and turns than the history of "Captain America" and "Bucky" it seems. Thanks for the detailed info Nericus!

    SPOILERS

Still here? Okay...I've been wondering...notice where Cap found Bucky? In the experimental lab strapped to a gurney. Might be a hint suggesting survival if some future movie suggests it. Experimental injection of some chemical concoction or such.

Regarding Bucky's age, yes my friend wished he was younger, I don't think he was hoping for 14 though, more like 18 or 19. Something practical to being in the military. I was fine with Sgt. Bucky, though it did seem at times like he was turned into a "damsel in distress" for Cap to rescue. Not a major issue though, and the character was enjoyable, not annoying.
  14. Love it.

Is it just me, or does Statesman's costume look "tired" next to Emperor Cole's? I can't believe Serge hasn't stepped in to fix that.
  15. Some names I've been lucky to snag, like Ray Gunn, my homage to 30's serial scifi. I've no idea why it wasn't used earlier.

A few of my favorites were born of necessity, but their names grew on me:
Ace Barnstormer: a "chocolate in my peanut butter" moment after being frustrated with being unable to use the two single words. I wouldn't trade the name now.

Lumineon: (say Loo-MIH'-nee-ahn) my kinetics scrapper. I tried to develop a black light/neon effect and spent hours going to every variation of the words "fluorescent", "lumin", and "neon" that I could think of. In the end, it was another "chocolate in the peanut butter" moment.

I've thought of renaming my tank a few times, since his name is rather long, but I have too much fun with people recognizing Streetwise Hercules, and playfully calling out "I need a hero!"

And, I've had some praise recently for the name of my beefy mace/willpower brute, Fightanic. He's quite the beast in combat and a good fit to the name.

I think he'd work as Black Scorpion. BS is always got that greedy-whiny-psychotic nature. Gottfried could bring that to a humorous level.

I still say, as I did a year or so ago, that Antonio Banderas should use his Puss in Boots voice to do Sky Raider's vain Capitan Castille.
  17. No Hulk poster?

There was no Hulk in the Avenger's trailer I saw either. My friend insists he glimpsed Bruce Banner. Why keep the Hulk under wraps?

Also, Tony is back to the circular chest power pack?

Apparently, there's still a lot of 'em out there. The lady next to me turned to me as the credits rolled and said, "well, that was a ruined ending" or something like it. I replied that it was the setup for the next film, and you could see the lightbulb go on in her expression. Then she got up and left with half the theater as Rosie the Riveter appeared in the credits.

I'm not certain why, but nowadays we define our heroes by their flaws and inner turmoil. This was Cap in the era that defined most heroes by their courage and purity. "Goodie two shoes" and "Overgrown Boy Scout" would have been badges of honor to them. The next film might prove very different. In the comics, as I recall, Cap had some angst, struggling with being a man out of time, the loss of all he knew, which he associated as obsolete.

That has to be the most awesome thing I read today! Thank you for sharing! I'd wondered in the theater, despite the comic book elements, if the movie would make people think of our WW2 soldiers and their sacrifices. Apparently, it did.

Cap has been around for a really long time. I suspect a lot of those older people grew up reading his early comics, though many might have come hearing of a WW2-themed film.

Went and saw this with a former SG teammate who used to run a comic store. We both heartily approved. Two quirks to us, no real spoilers here:
    1. Bucky seemed a lot older in the film. My teammate commented that he had hoped for younger.
    2. The writing on Hydra equipment was an odd amalgamation of German and English. One word, for example, on the labeled controls of one of the Hydra planes: "autopilot". Is that really how 40s Germans would identify it?

    Bit of spoilers here:

One wish I had was for clearer identification of Cap's Howling Commandos. Those whose identity I did hear were named at some pretty garbled moments. I'm pretty sure the Brit was Union Jack, based on some reading before the show, but I can't recall him being identified.

The ending...I'm guessing that was a homage to James Garner's 36 Hours movie. It sure felt like it for a moment.

First one that came to my mind as well. The Vulture 2099, however, at least had the creepy factor going for him with his razor wings and cannibalism.

I also thought Marvel's Kamakazi was useless. Marvel obliged by removing him in a manner befitting his name.

Drax from Moonraker was wooden onscreen. the movie was pretty awful too.

Shame from the 1960s Batman was pretty worthless too. And this referrencing a show full of oddball characters.
