  1. Correct, Dechs, but TK's point is still valid: Domination does nothing until it gets (nearly) full, if you're coming to Brutes after playing Doms, it would be understandable if you thought they functioned similarly.
  2. Any outgoing attack builds fury. It doesn't matter if it hits or misses, nor does it matter how much damage it does. AoE attacks add the same amount of Fury as Single Target ones do; it is not a per-target addition. Damage auras do not directly add anything to your Fury bar.

Any incoming attack adds to you Fury meter. Like outgoing attacks, it doesn't matter if the attack hits or not, nor does it matter if it was a ST or AoE attack. Standing in a source of continuous damage (Like a Burn patch) will not build Fury.

Fury degrades over time. The closer your bar is to full, the quicker it degrades. It also degrades much quicker outside combat than it does while you're fighting.

Fury builds on a scale from 0-100. For every point of Fury you have built up, you get a 2% damage bonus. It only takes about 60% Fury (Which is easy to reach, and to maintain) to out-damage everything except a scrapper or blaster. 80% Fury (Which is harder to achieve) will put you on par with an average scrapper. 100% Fury will put you on par with Blasters and high-damage Scrappers, but 100% can only be reached through the use of Frenzy, and will only last a short time - usually about as long as Build Up does - before you're back down to 60-80%.

If a brute was able to get and maintain 100% Fury, they would be tied with blasters for the best damage dealers in the game, and second only to tanks in survivability, which would be a serious balance issue. As is, they're tougher than scrappers (but usually not by much), and typically do a little less damage than them, which is pretty reasonable.

    Quote:
Its amazing how many people dont notice fury working, I really just cant believe it.
That's because of how quickly Fury ramps up to its "equilibrium" level, where it builds as fast as it degrades. People who don't learn the tricks to push Fury higher than that tend to cruise at that level, and see very little flux in their damage bonus. People who learn the Art of SMASH! to its fullest extent are more aware of Fury's highs and lows.
  3. 1) I have NO IDEA what you mean by this.

    2) A shield brute should be able to softcap Ranged, Melee and AoE all at the same time fairly easily.

This may be true for the truly NEW player. However, for the players who have come from other games (and I speak from experience here), it's not the mindset they usually come to the game with.

In most other games, there's a category of equipment generally referred to as "Vendor Trash". It comprises the lowest tier or two of equipment. While you can function with a character equipped only with "Grey" or "White" equipment (In WoW terms), you're not going to function well.

When you begin upgrading to "Green" equipment, you start getting stat bonuses. As you progress to "Blue", "Purple", "Orange" and "Red" equipment (their tiers follow a different color-coding than ours do), the bonuses get greater in number, and more numerous per piece of equipment. In addition, you can get even more bonuses if the equipment you have all comes from the same set.

In these loot-based games, the quality of your gear is everything. If you don't have at least some good gear, you will die. A LOT.

So someone with a long experience in these games is going to see the TO/DO/SOs, and even the common IOs as "Vendor Trash" and avoid them at all costs, heading straight for the sets. And that's where the sticker shock comes in.

Another contributing factor is that our market doesn't scale. In those other games, most equipment has a minimum level, just like here. The higher the minimum level, the more the equipment costs, often increasing on an exponential scale - that's where things deviate so much here. Go look at the difference in prices between the minimum and maximum levels of special IOs like Karma: Knockback Protection, Steadfast Protection: Res/Def, or Luck of the Gambler: Increased Global Recharge Speed. The lowest level will usually be about the same as the highest, if not more expensive. But a newbie seeing that a level 10 Karma: KB Prot costs about 50 million may make the assumption that, by level 50, they will HAVE to spend hundreds of millions, if not billions, PER ENHANCEMENT, for every enhancement in their build, because that's on par with the games they've played before. While costs in that range DO exist, and it's possible to make a build where every enhancement is in that range, it's far from the norm.
  5. Pelops, originally a Warshade, but rerolled as a Warshade-themed Dark/Dark brute, because 'Shade just wasn't working for me.

(The) Only Good Hero - Didn't really enjoy that character, so I deleted it. Last I checked, the name was still available on Victory.

    Seer 1337

Pete Moss (And the proper spelling, "Peat Moss" is still available!)

    (The) Moor of Venice

Incendiarie - I combination of "Incendiary" and the name "Arie"

I think that the claim that Elec's T1 and T2 does extra damage was true at one point, but when the first two blasts in all sets were normalized for new Defiance, the bonus damage got normalized right out of them.

You can make a nice toon w/o hasten but USUALLY it will be better with it.
1- Who said I was using more than a couple purples?
    2- Who said I wasn't softcapped?

And it's not my Dominator. When I'm done his build, he'll have over 10 seconds overlap on Domination, without touching Hasten. what does he need it for?

  10. One spawned in with the last wave of witches in a Katie TF, before the bug that stopped her from levelling up (Yes, I know it's fixed again).

We pulled the witches away from it, planning to clear them, then take out the cyst. For some reason, the cyst didn't have to be killed to end the mission. We killed it anyways.

    Solo Friendly

Any Brute or Scrapper should be able to solo on the default difficulty with no issues. They should all be able to push the difficulty up a few notches too, and most of them should be able to go to x8 with an IOed build.

My current project is a Dark/Dark brute. By four-slotting his attacks with Kinetic Combat and his resists with Reactive Armor, plus Combat Jumping, a Steadfast Unique and Weave, I've got his S/L defense up over 30%, and it'll only get higher as I level and slot more. Endurance is pretty heavy, but when I get my Numina and Miracle slotted, and take the Energy Mastery pool, End problems should disappear.

Anything with a Shield is good too, especially if you softcap it. I personally like Shields best on scrappers though.

With all the new content trivializing defense lately, I find myself trying to create hybrids, with a mix of survivability tools (hence the high-defense dark brute). The easiest to get a mix of survival tools on are probably Invulnerability and Willpower, but there's lots of other options too.
  12. Between Luck of the Gambler, Crushing Impact, Positron's Blast, Decimation, Basilisk's Gaze, Kinetic Crash, Call to Arms, Entropic Chaos, Doctored Wounds, Efficacy Adaptor, Red Fortune, and many other sets, I've never really seen a need for Hasten. I'd rather have 40% from set bonuses that's up all the time than 70% from Hasten that's only up sometimes, has an End crash on top of increasing my End usage from attacking faster, and interrupts my attacks (or worse survival powers like self heals).
  13. I'm not concerned about PVP, but if someone wants to include that for completeness, I won't complain.

    Obviously, using an attack does.

Does an enemy affecting toggle? (Radiation Infection, Darkest Night, etc)

Does a non-damaging debuff? (Siphon Speed, Lingering Radiation, etc)

Does a "Stop attacking me" power? (Placate, Mass Hypnosis)

Does a heal or ally buff? (Heal Other, Accelerate Metabolism, etc)

    Does anything else?

  15. Moral High Ground is for completing 5 moral choice missions. The badge progress mentions being able to get it via Flashback, but at this time, you cannot access any Praetorian content through the Flashback system.

Right now, the only way to get the badge is to do 5 moral choice missions in Praetoria before leaving and selecting a Hero or Villain alignment.
  16. They're located on the west coast. It's the middle of the night right now; there's nobody there to flag it as available in the store right now. If I recall correctly, it should go up somewhere between 8am and noon, PST. Whenever it goes up, there will be announcements on the forums, Facebook, and Twitter, at the very least. Porbably an ad on the Updater screen, and possibly an in-game MotD too.

  18. Inspired by this thread, I went to the market, and started buying and deleting Rubies.

-When I started, there were 448 for sale, 0 bidding.
-I got about 60 for 100 or less.
    -I got 147 for 1000 or less.
-I got none for more than 1000, but less than 5000.
    -I got 3 for 5000.
-When I stopped to start writing this, I had bid up to 15000, and had no sales over 5000.

    Continuing my bids...
    -Three purchases at 25k.
    -Two at 50k.
    -None above 50k, under 75k.
    -116 at 99k
    -46 at 100k
    -19 at 115k
    -Two at 125k
    -11 at 150k
    -4 at 165k
    -8 at 200k
    -3 at 220k
    -7 at 250k
-Three at 300k (Still 73 above this price point!)
-None at any increment from 300k to 399,999!
    -Still none at 400k.
    -499,999.... Still none.
    -Only one at 500,000.
    -14 at 555,555
-One at 650,000 (but a bunch of lowballers got their bids filled too, so I don't think this one was REALLY that high).
-Note to self: Leave a buffer, so you don't spend 900k on a ruby that someone tosses up as you're creeping.
    -One real listing at 900k.
-No more up to and including 999,999
    -21 at exactly 1,000,000.

At this point, impatient people are throwing over a million at Rubies, just to get past my creeping. With 33 left on the market at over a million, I'm calling it quits.

It cost me 58 million(ish). It proved.... Not much really, but kinda gives an idea of the spread on what people are asking for their common salvage.

And yes, I did delete them all. What the heck am I gonna do with over 400 rubies?

EDIT: In the two hours since I posted this, I purchased 21 more rubies at 1 each, and relisted them for 1 each. Before I finished listing them, one had sold for 500, even though 2 of the last 5 were purchases for 1.

Wait, you mean someone actually USES all those level 50 recipes and IOs that I throw at the market? Pft, level 25's FTW! You still get more enhancement value than SOs provide, you rarely suffer the effects of enhancement scaling when exemplared, and the set bonuses stay with you unless you're running REALLY low-level content... and then you don't need the set bonuses anyways!
  20. Yes, you will still be offered the Moral choice missions at 5, 10, 15, BUT... at those levels you will only be offered new contacts in the chain(s) you're on. If you want to start a new 5-10 chain while you're 10, you have to go find the starting contact yourself; Scott and Marchand will be introducing 10-15 contancts at that point instead. The same is true for all tiers.

  25. On most computers, the sun and moon adjust the ambient lighting, to help you see your costume better (as others already said)

On some computers, they do absolutely nothing. It has to do with certain graphics settings being too low.

Either way, they have no effect on your finished costume and/or power customizations.
