The only excuse I have for my typo is that I frequently transpose letters when typing, and I posted that on my phone, which doesn't give me a red line under typos. Seriously, I need to figure out where to put the ink in my monitor, because I must be low on red by now.

I'm not sure you have any grounds for complaint, Zombie. Yes, the word is being used wrong.
First: do you have a better suggestion?
Second: We're not in a chemistry class; the root word is being misused anyways, and it's quite common for words to be repurposed in games, in the context of said game, without altering the basic meaning of the word. I'd be willing to bet that the devs themselves say "catalyze an enhancement", in which case, the word has been repurposed, and this use IS right.
Third: Do you really expect anyone to say "I used a catalyst on my enhancement" or "I caused my enhancement to undergo catalysis", rather than "I catalyzed my enhancement"?
Hell, this is the internet. Give it a week and it'll be " I cat'd my enh." -
Quote:The problem is, you're comparing members of other ATs that have had billions of Inf pumped into them. Show me one level 50 build of any AT that can outdamage all, or even most, level 50 blasters, when all examples are on SOs only.Any AT you have to pump billions, or even just millions into, just to get them to where they were designed to be in the first place. Hasn't kept pace with the games progress.
Your example of the level 12 blaster, scrapper and brute is also flawed. Any brute will outdamage any other character at level 12, because fury doesn't scale with level, so that massive damage boost is ridiculously overpowered before characters start slotting SO or better enhancements. Brutes and scrappers also will usually have at least one hard-hitting single target attack by this level, whereas the blaster usually has to wait for theirs, because they're getting AoEs right now - and Fire Ball, Exlposive Arrow, (Whatever the Energy equivalent is called), and such are far better than any AoEs the scrapper or brute has at this level. There's also a good chance that the Blaster has melee attacks in their secondary that are as good as what the Scrapper and Brute have, just opened up a bit later.
The Brute vs. Scrapper debate is old hat. At level 50, the scrapper is numerically the higher damage, though not by much. The Blaster and Scrapper have the same damage scale, so they start off on par with Scrappers. They benefit just as much from Enhancements and +Damage from Set Bonuses, Incarnate Abilities and outside buffs as the Scrapper does. They don't crit like a Scrapper, but the damage buff from Defiance provides a Fury-like consistant damage bonus that, over time, should at least equal the bonus damage from crits. And most blasters have access to TWO +Damage powers (usually Build Up and Aim).
I really can't fathom how any blaster is doing significantly less damage than Scrappers and Brutes, unless you're comparing baseline SO blaster builds to high-end Scrappers and Brutes, and if that's the case, it's a ridiculous comparison. -
Calatyzing requires that the enhancement be slotted, so if the enhancement in question isn't a Blaster ATO, no they can't. And if it IS a Blaster ATO, they still can't, because they've already got a full set slotted, and the pieces are all Unique.

But are level shifted enemies actually higher level?
A level 50(+1) character is still level 50, they just have combat ability as if they were a level higher. So does a 50(+1) enemy give the XP of a level 50 critter or a 51?
Since there's currently no way to fight level shifted enemies on Live unless you're level 50 (and not earning XP any more), you'd have to go to Beta to test this for now. -
Quote:ARRGH!2 - Both my spouse and I got the Very Rare Shard Cannon (Beam Rifle) costume part. Neither of us have the Beam Rifle set, or any interest in it. This would be less troubling if it was a Rare, or Uncommon. But getting a Very Rare that we'd have to spend more Paragon Points to use was disappointing.
I got the rifle too. I also am unable to use it, because I neither have nor want Beam Rifle. It should be for both Beam and Assault Rifles, and maybe even Arachnos Soldiers. -
I think you still aren't understanding how debuff resistance works. The resistance is not subtracted from the debuff, the debuff is reduced by whatever percentage the resistance is.
So a 25% resistance blocks a quarter of the debuff, 50% blocks half of it, and 100% means that the debuff will never affect you at all. Most debuff resistances cap at 95% though, I think that only speed debuffs (both movement and recharge) can actually reach 100%.
Yes, the regen debuffs in the game are pretty insane, and it's likely that, even resisted, most will floor your regen. However, a Willpower character should not be relying on regen alone. You have good resists, +HP, and defense (and even a heal if you're a stalker!). All of your protection should be slotted and used together; doing so will make you a nigh-unstoppable beast. -
I bought 4 each of level 25 crafted LotG D/E, Def, and D/E/R for a total of about 350 million this morning. I had honestly expected to pay that much for each set, but had chalked it up to not remembering the price correctly, since it had been months since I ran out of those in storage.
Then I took the money I saved and bought all the pieces I was missing from a Brute's Fury set, and still had a pile left over, when I expected to be broke after 2-3 sets of LotG, and I didn't have to spend any of the Merits or A-Merits I was saving for the build.
It was a good day, even if I didn't make the eleventy bajillion that some of you guys did. -
Quote:Soul is good for other ATs as well: Brutes and Tanks can make amazing use of Gloom, Dark Obliteration and Darkest Night, and Scrappers and Stalkers do great with Shadow Meld (Especially the sets that want to add some defense to their already high resistance).Sorry, the only patron option that is better than the free epic sets is the one that gives power boost to Corrupters and Defenders (soul)
But other Patrons are good too.
Brutes and Tanks can get a few extra AoEs out of Leviathan and Mu. Mu's AoE immob is invalueable to those that benefit from keeping their enemies nearby, and Mako's highly non-resisted cones do impressive damage in the hands of a brute with high fury.
Many squishies benefit from Scorpion Shield, especially if they're aiming for a softcapped build. And Bane Spiders get better blasts from Mace than from their primary, and an amazing melee attack - and Mace Mastery doesn't cause redraw when paired with Bane Spider Mace.
And what sane controller is going to turn their nose up at an extra pet? Or defender for that matter?
There's other good stuff in Patron Pools too. Soul isn't the only good Patron, and Power Boost isn't the only reason to take Soul. -

The mask should be under Detail 2 for most face categories. The helmet is a Helmet (not half helm or hat, as has been typical lately).
You didn't ask, but the pants are only in tucked in, IIRC - there is no full-length version. -
ATOs are SBEs (Store Bought Enhancements), and can be used by any account type. This was confirmed by a redname, but I can't find the post right now.

-
Well, that is the very definition of "default". Changing defaults doesn't (or shouldn't) change existing settings, only new ones.
-
-
The gold name is not a default. You have to go into your control panel and choose to have a gold name.
EDIT: See this post for instructions. -
Note that it's 4 stacks per debuff, and that each debuff has different strengths depending on exactly which ability you have slotted.
I don't know the numbers for Degenerative, but let's say the different strengths are 500, 750 and 1000. Each power in the Degenerative tree will have one of these values. Any powers with the same value apply the same debuff.
So, in this case, if you had at least one person with each strength, you could stack 500x4, 750x4 and 1000x4. But you can never stack more than four of each at a time. -
Quote:Those aren't overall percentages. Those are percentages within a bracket.Am I missing something or are rares the most common? (Minus the Black Wolf.)
Each card is randomly selected to be Common/Uncommon/Rare/VR. Once its rarity is determined, it rolls on that rarity's table.
Very Rares just have higher numbers because there's fewer items on their list. -
Thanks, Zwil. Can you tell us the odds of getting a Common/Uncommon/Rare/VR for each card as well?
-
I doubt it. The Gunslinger boot has a with and without spur option, so she likely means those ones. Which is too bad, because I'd love Baron boots for one of my female characters.
But thank you for doing all this, Dink! These are some great additions! -
To add a little more detail:
Each Patron has 4 arcs:
1- The Patron Power Pool Unlock arc. This arc is level 35-50.
2- A second arc, level 40-45.
3- A third arc, level 45-50.
4- A fourth arc which is basically the same for all four and grants the Usurper badge necessary to lead the Lord Recluse Strike Force.
None of these arcs are in Ouroboros, which means you can only do them, at most, once each per character.
You don't need to worry about outlevelling the Patron Unlock, since it goes to 50.
Furthermore, #2 caps at level 45, so if you get to level 46 or higher before you start it, it will never be offered to you - the contact will skip straight from arc #1 to arc #3 (unless something got changed with arc #2 when they changed the Patron requirements). -
Quote:Or resubscribe. The level 20 unlock remains in effect for VIP players; they don't have to pay to unlock them. Note that if a VIP creates an Epic AT character, then drops to Premium, that character cannot be played without purchasing an unlock. You can no longer unlock Villain Epic Archetypes with in game actions since Issue 21. Now you have to pay 1,000 Paragon Points for Widows and/or 1,000 Paragon Points for Soldiers. They are separate purchases.
Also, there's a bug that lets some Premium accounts play Epic ATs without paying for an unlock. It seems to be connected to the account having unlocked Epic ATs before the transition to CoH: Freedom. However, according to any comments we've seen from the devs, this doesn't seem to be intended behavior, so if you have a free Epic unlock on your account, don't plan on it remaining unlocked forever - they may fix it at any time. -
(HERE BE SPOILERS)The rest of the arc pretty much deals with making sure that she doesn't get herself re-killed, because if she does, you die too. There can't possibly be another way, because if there were, it would invalidate the rest of the arc.(SPOILERS END)

The only revamp that I can think of that is really needed is to take all those "Defeat 333" and "Defeat 1000" badges, and make them "Defeat X points worth of", like the Praetorian defeat badges.
