  1. It's based on security level. No amount of sidekicking/exemplaring will let you get a drop off someone more than 3 security levels different from you. This is why you will occasionally see complaints about people getting hundreds of kills in zone PVP, but never any drops.
  2. The different colored Vanguard come from the differentbranches. For example, if you click a grey and purple one, they are <Vanguard> but the black and green are <Vanguard Sword>. During Levantera's intro arc, one of the contacts gives you a very brief overview on the branches ofVanguard, and a little more detail in one of the arcs. You may want to see how much detail you can find about the branches, especially if you intend to run an RP group.

As Vamp Angel, a level 44 scrapper, I got into the action once again over on RWZ 2, and scored over 400 merits. Enough to get most of the Vanguard costume items I wanted.

Towards the end of the raid, I made another trip to the hospital following an overrun by newly-arrived Rikti headmen and Bosses/EBs, and loaded up on nearly a full tray of purples. Upon returning I jumped back into the fight and was soon the lone remaining fighter in my portion of the bowl. I got dogpiled by a group of 6 Rikti Magus', and 5 Headmen, and survived far longer than I should have by using my purples and MoG. My team-leader saw it and was pretty impressed.

I'll be sure to toss up a few screencaps later

Noo...! My secrets have been exposed!

I no longer can fake the uber.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As long as Gargus is better than my stone broot, I'll pretend you're uber.

And since Standing Stone is about as uber as a paper crane in a monsoon, you'll be fake-uber for a while. :P
  4. That is correct. You could make a group of nothing but Torches, or you could include all the fire-based Outcasts, a few Hellions and one of Batzul's minions. The only limitation is how much space the group takes up in your arc.

Be careful making a faction with only one creature in it though - it can have unexpected results.

You're still wrong, Person with the same registration date as the first person who made that comment. I wonder how that could be a coincidence?

I'm still trying to figure out how 11/15/04 and 11/16/04 are the same day. Does that mean that both are my birthday, and I get double cake, or that neither is, and I get no cake?

Well, the cake is a lie, so...

either way, you get no cake!

As has been said, killing stuff is the key. Since the drop rate is the same whether the enemy is -1 or +5 (as long as it's high enough to drop a purple), your best bet is to set yourself do difficulty 2 - that gets you more things to kill, and at the lowest level available to you, meaning more kills faster.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ok, Just want to make sure I understand.

    1) I can only get a purple when I'm 50. = TRUE.

    [/ QUOTE ]

At any level, but only if defeating enemies capable of dropping level 50 common recipes.

    [ QUOTE ]
    2) If I kill ANYTHING in PvE that is level 49 to 55, then there is a chance at a purple drop AND the drop rate is the same reguardless of the level of the mob.= TRUE.

    [/ QUOTE ]
47-54 What I meant by "-1 to +5" is that as long as it cons something better than grey (and is high enough level), it can drop a purple.

    [ QUOTE ]
    3) No purple drops in Architect. = TRUE

    [/ QUOTE ]
Mostly true. Dev choice have standard drops, and as such, can drop purples. I know at least one person who got a purple off a dev choice.

One more follow-up question...Does anyone have any idea of the actual prup drop rate %? I've heard someone say that they get a purp about 1 out of 80 PvP kills. Which would be 1.3%. I imagine the % in PvE would be smaller.

    [/ QUOTE ]
One per 80 in PvP would be a PvP recipe, not a purple. And the rate does seem to be about 1% (or 1 in 100) for those, based on all reports I've seen combined. Most reports on purple drops say that about 1 in every every 6 enemy drop rares is a purple, which is a fair bit lower than 1%, though I'm unsure on the exact number.

Whatever happened to flirting and first dates?

  12. Bosses will not show up for a group of less than 3, unless they are a manually placed encounter.

Bosses encountered by a solo player on difficulty setting 1 will be downgraded to Lts. Two or more on Heroic/Villainous, or solo on Diff 2 or higher allows bosses to spawn as bosses.

The more people in the group, the more bosses will spawn. 2-3 bosses per spawn is not uncommon on 8-man teams.

This is all true for both regular and MA content.
  13. Wings can be crafted from recipes at level 1. I've done it before, same with the craftable boots.
  14. For the last week or so, on both of my accounts and my girlfriend's account, sometimes when switching characters, I will get the "This account is already logged in." message, even though I just logged out. Yes, I waited out the countdown, it always happens while in the same client I just logged out (to login screen) on. On at least one occasion, it did this after I switched to my other account (which wasn't logged in before I switched), and my girlfriend had it happer to he , and after she clicked "ok" and tried to log in a second time got the same message, but successfully logged in. on the third attempt.

Nobody else has our account info. All three accounts are /gfriended with each other, and most toons on the accounts are on Victory with in the same SG. There are no new toons showing up, no sign that a different server has been selected, and no changes to the existing toons.

Because of this, I think it's just some kind of lag issue, but we are unable to reproduce it reliably, so we can't even go elsewhere to test and see if it's just our router.

I'm not too worried about getting a fix, since it's not too common. But if the problem is server-side, people should be made aware, or otherwise someone's going to think their account got hacked and panic.
  15. If the rewards were increased for higher difficulties, we would end up with /Fire Aura and /Dark Armor with capped fire or Negative resistance farming Fire Melee/Fire Blast or Dark Melee/Dark Blast extreme Bosses and laughing off the "added" challenge, even worse than what's already done.

While it would be nice to get rewards proportionate to the risk, it can't be done on any kind of automated system without opening up new exploits because of fringe cases.
  16. Not quite....

All enemies have to have at least one level in common, and the level will be where they all overlap. So if you had a groups with levels of 1-54, 1-20, 10-30, and 20-40, everything would spawn at 20, and players would be sidekicked or exemplared to 20. Trying to add a group of 30-54 enemies would fail, because it doesn't overlap with the 10-20 group.
My understanding is that this is changing in i15, but I haven't been into Test since Beta went up, so I don't know what the differences are.
  17. An ally capable of Speed Boosting you, as the OP mentioned, would also be capable of attacking. NPC allies in MA take a portion of the XP equal to the percentage of damage they dealt. So the ally isn't an exploit, even if it's an extreme/extreme Fire/WP AV that kills everything for you.

If the NPC's are basically filling a "team" for you, then you're fine. The devs have taken this into account.

Positron's message wasn't worded the best way, but he had the right idea - If something happens that makes you say "Is this how it's supposed to work?" then the answer is probably no. If things are a little easier (Like after rescuing Faultline and Fusionette in the RWZ arcs) then you're fine. If your level 45 character gets 3 levels in one run of one mission, or you regularly get the "ticket cap" message, you're probably in an inappropriate mission. Finish it once then report it in the window that pops up.
  18. You're right. Stalkers are much better now, and I often see them going shoulder-to-shoulder with the scrappers and brutes. But the OP was about Dark Melee, and stalker DM loses Soul Drain, which is a selling point to the set for many.
  19. In a vacuum, Izd have to say the best pets would be from Necromancy and Bots.

All the others, except the oni, would instantly die when their lungs collapsed from lack of air, and the oni would be useless with no oxygen to fuel his flames.
  20. Yeah, when reporting a bug, it's usually helpful to explicitly state what the bug is. What's obvious to you isn't always to others.
  21. Brutes will never replace tankers or scrappers. All three have things going for them the others lack.

To SStingray: What are you talking about? As someone who is currently running every mission in the game on a single character, both hero side and villain, I can honestly say that you have more chance of missing content on villain side. Did you know that there are missions that exist on the mission list of EVERY contact in their level range, heroside? I counted four missions in the 25-30 range I had to do 5 times over.

Or the contact in IP: "I'm writing a story about the Council. Could you go collect some ifno for me? (Defeat 25 Council)", "I've got you a front page spot. Could I get some shots of you arresting criminals? (Defeat 25 Council)", "I just did a story on the crime rate here, and it's way upq Could you do something about it? (Defeat 25 Council)" - the examples are made up, but are basicaly what the contact offers.

Villainside, however, each contact has a story, even outside the arcs, and the missions are varied, and generally more interesting. There may be fewer missions overall, but there's less boring repetition too.

To the OP: The brute will see two huge advantages: Greater HP will make the hits that get through less worrisome, and the taunt aura will keep the whatever you're not focued on nearby for Soul Drain and Dark Consumption to feed off of.

Any other benefits one side or the other has is purely personal preference.
  22. The listing fee is 5%, to a minimum of 5 inf. The selling fee is 10%, with a minimum of 10 inf.

No idea where the OP's 40% came from.

Okay first Zookeeper is already part of another accolade and I have never seen them use the same badge for anything else twice so that needs to be omitted or replaced.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There's an exploration badge in Warburg that's used in two different (power granting) Villain Accolades.
  24. I'm surprised that nobody's pointed out the over 100 badge disparity between the sides. If this suggestion were implemented, heroes could get as many as 10 or more more End than villains ever could.
  25. I think what's confusing the OP is "the role of a Brute". Seems a lot of people look at their powers and assume that brutes are tanks because they share certain powersets (I'm looking at you Stone Armor!).

Think of a brute as a scrapper and you'll be a lot happier with it. That is what their role really is.
