Quote:He window was added when the Trial Account limitations were. It cannot be closed, but it can be moved. Every time you zone, however, it resets to the center of the screen.Yeah, the Rogue Isles are usually laggier than Paragon City (where you are when playing hero-side). City of Villains came out about 2 years after City of Heroes, and they did a little more detailing graphically.
Having never played the trial version I'm not familiar with the window in the middle of the screen, but if it's anything like the rest of the windows you should be able to drag it elsewhere on the screen, even if you can't close it altogether. -
Before anyone tells me to "Take it to the Suggestions Forum," this is not a suggestion. I think the change is too drastic to make to an already-implemented system, but I'm interested in what others think.
As things stand in the game right now, there are two types of IOs: Commons and Set IOs. Common IOs exist from level 10 to 50, but only at multiples of 5. Set IOs each have a different range, but exist at every level from the minimum to the maximum.
If the original design had made all IOs exist only at the levels that are multiples of 5, how would that impact the game, both in terms of gameplay, and the markets?
These are the impacts I see:
-With less level variation, it would be easier to get a piece you wanted, since three bids would cover the same level range as 11 do now.
-Likewise, it would be easier to sell, since you are less likely to get that odd-levelled recipe nobody wants; it would round up or down like Commons do now.
-Slotting choices for exemplaring would change. Right now, if you plan on exemplaring to 30, you can slot as high as 33 and retain your set bonus. Under this system, You could only slot up to 30; level 35 would be too high to retain the bonuses. This would most likely have its largest impact on Zone PVPers, who want to eke every point they can out of their builds.
If this were changed now, the vast majority of existing IOs would have to be rounded up or down. Inevitably, you would end up with people who would want their slotted IOs to round the opposite way that they end up changing, and get upset because they now have to re-buy their entire build. I don't think this would be a well-received change, even if the consensus was that it was an improvement.
What do the market gurus think? What other pros and cons are there to this system? Is this how it should have been in the first place? If it were changed now, would it be an improvement, or a detriment? -
Quote:No, it's not semantics. If procs and global bonuses worked the same way, I'd agree with you. But saying that they are all the same because they're "just power effects", then you might as well say that Vengeance and Fortitude work the same way because they're "both power effects".It's just semantics. If you want to shoot to the heart of what it really is: it's a power effect. So are set bonuses. So are the effects of enhancements on your powers. They're all power effects.
The point I was getting at is that they're triggered in different ways and under different conditions. As veteran players, you and I may both instinctively understand how they work, but a new player coming in with questions needs to be given the right answers.
Yes, OP, you are right. This is a proc, for the reason you gave, and not a global, for the reason I gave earlier.
To clarify things a little further, for all IOs out there:
If it says "X% chance when used" or "for 120 seconds after use", then it triggers (or tries to) every time the power is used, no matter how quickly the power is fired, in a click power. In a toggle or auto power, it fires when the power first turns on, and every 10 seconds after.
If the IO does not contain either of those phrases, then it's a Global Bonus, and is always on (even if you lose access to the power it is in), as long as you don't exemplar more than 3 levels below the IO's level. These IOs will always have their benefit listed under "Set Bonuses" on your power list on your Info screen. -
Quote:Or perhaps Avatea posted that the issue had been resolved approximately 12 hours before you posted this?Getting past your hate for us EU people, I had no problem accessing the US version of the site by using this link: http://www.cityofheroes.com/en/
Then again, I'm on Firefox, not on IE. That might be your problem? -
At Hero Con, Posi said that they weren't merging the markets, but you'd be able to take items with you as you switched sides, basically acting as a "Gun Runner".
I think that they're going to add a third market to the game. For those of you familiar with WoW, it has two Auction Houses, Horde and Alliance, and they're segregated. In the neutral town of Bloody Bay, there's a third Auction House. Both sides can use it, but the market fees are higher. This is basically what I expect the market in Praetoria will be. -
Quote:No, the Numina's, Miracle and Regenerative Tissue Uniques are procs, just with a 100% chance to fire. If they were Globals, their bonus would be listed under Set Bonuses (like Luck of the Gambler +Recharge or Karma KB Protection) and would go away if you exemplared more than 3 levels below the level of the IO, but would remain in effect even if slotted in a power that you lost due to exemplaring (as long as the IO was stll in range).Regen Tissue is not a proc, but a unique with a global effect (namely, a small regen bonus that lasts 120 seconds from the point the power with the IO slotted is used). If you slotted it in, say, Reconstruction, it'd trigger whenever you fired Reconstruction and would last for 120 seconds after (but would not stack). Same for Dull Pain, Instant Healing, whatever.
Instead, the IO activates every time the power is fired, or once every 10 seconds in a toggle or passive, and functions as long as you have access to the power, regardless of the level of the IO, just like a proc. Because it is one.
The rest of your post is correct. -
Quote:When and where was this said?soooooo I'm guessing that "end of January" beta bit is gonna come and go.
The announcement was that GR would go live "sometime in Q2 2010", and that beta would take place "early in 2010", which most people took to mean "some time in Q1". There's still 2 months of Q1 left. -

Both of my accounts are under the same master account. I used the Invite a Friend code. I got a free month.
The "Friend" has to get the code, upgrade to a retail account, AND pay for a month of game time before you get your free month. -
Quote:Look up a set or sepcific enhancement. For example, we'll look at the previously-mentioned Hecatomb set. Notice that each of the pieces in the set hast theSo Hecatomb no but there are other sets that I could have fully slotted in multiple powers? How do you find out... I looked it up on http://wiki.cohtitan.com and I can't really tell a difference by looking at them and they don't really say "unique" anywhere, but I could not be looking in the right spot.
icon beside it. That means that it's Unique. Hovering over any icon in a recipe description will tell you what that icon means.

Quote:How is it any different to claim that a newly rolled character wasn't there to celebrate the Aniversary of the game, but has already spent [http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Devoted_Badge]two years beating down the bad guys[/url]?An "Anniversary" badge applies to personal attendance during 30 days of a given year. The two are NOT the same. One rewards account subscription. The other, actual character presence during an anniversary month. My dual blades scrapper should not have 1st year anniversary badge. He wasn't there to celebrate it.
This is a case where I'll call Positron's promise to "look into it" as cowing to a vocal minority. I have the anniversary badges on a few toons. Not all. (Just the few important ones.) I don't need them on my latest toons. I don't WANT them to be on new toons. Those toons weren't THERE for the anniversary -
You can drop the final mission of an arc.
You can't drop:
-Timed missions
-Failable missions (except the "Stop 30 Fir Bolg from entering the Portal" one; you CAN drop that one, and it's an arc ender too)
-Missions that grant a badge
This is the final mission in the Patron arc. As such, it gives the Patron Badge. That is why it's undroppable. -
Quote:/em flypose1can anyone tell me how to change my flight poses? in particular the hover pose, much appreciated
/em flypose2
/em flypose3
/em flypose4
These must be entered while moving. This means that you have to go on autorun and type the command, or create a bind or macro that activates the flypose and press it while moving. Stopping or turning off fly will reset you to the default flight animation.
I'm not sure, but I think that these commands do not work with hover. Only way to be sure is to check in-game.
EDIT: Damn you, Killbot! Type slower!
Also, is it only 3 flyposes? I thought it was 4?
Finally, there is a way to bind these to your movement keys so that they automatically activate. I'm not sure what the binds are though. I'm sure someone can help though. -

Quote:This.Server merges are the last straw of a dying game, and I bet if they ever happened here, you'd have less players on that one server then you have on every server now.
I play exclusively on Victory. Any time I move off-server, the character ends up abandoned before I hit 20. I know a LOT of other people who play exclusively on Victory, too. I can't speak for them, but if a server merge ever happened, my sub would be cancelled immediately.
If I'm not already on your server, I don't [i]want[/ì to be on your server, and I'm not going to move there. -
Which packs should be greyed out?
The Valkyrie, Magic, Cyborg and Martial Arts, because I have them on both my accounts?
The Wedding, and Science, becaue I have them, even if it's not on both accounts?
None of them, because I have an unused trial accound on my master account, so I don't have any boosters that are on "all"my accounts?
I agree to having the multiple "Perks" renamed to something more useful.
It doesn say on the page to buy each Booster that they are non-refundable. It's up to you to make sure that you can use it. It is possible to check, even if you have to go infgame to do so. -

For Signature TFs (Posi, Synapse, etc; I'm not sure which ones redside, but there are some), the enemies will always spawn at the highest level for their range, ie Posi will always be 15-16, except in the a couple frontloaded missions, where it ranges from 12-16.
Have a level-locked level 10 as the team leader, and the whole team gets +5s for the TF. Adjust the leader's level as necessary for the difficulty you want.
Quote:I'd rather they didn't. If they came to the forums to report on every issue that this is asked for, they wouldn't be fixing any bugs, because they'd be too busy posting status updates. They said that they knew it was an issue, they said they're working on it. The fix will go live when the problem is fixed. Can we at least get another update to confirm it is being worked on? -

Blind is an AoE, but not the whole power.
It's a 5' radius, 5 target max AoE sleep. The rest of its effects are single target, and apply only to the enemy you had targeted when it is cast. -
It was brought up MANY times when AE first came out. The first time I saw it happen was someone who wanted to place a Boss Fight objective with a Cimeroran Cyclops as the boss. He didn't want to give it a special name, but that objective type forced him to. So he tried to give it the default name. Bam! Error.
At this point, I think most people have resigned themselves to "It's stupid, but it's not going to change." -
-
Also, regardless of what they con, Underlings, Pets, and enemies that don't normally drop recipes (like Gun Drones and Shield Generators) won't drop purples.
-
I did misunderstand. But that's still not how it works. Once you're level 24 or higher, all the basic powers, plus all the powers from each branch are available. The first time you pick a power from either branch, the other locks out. It's functionally identical to respecing any other character.
-
No. VEAT respecs at any level always start at level 1, and if they are done at 24 or later, allow you to choose your path; even if it's a different one from the original choice.
