Quote:Just remember that with this, and a lot of the other boxed sets, there are shipping costs that make them not as good a deal as they appear. (Unless they're sold directly by Amazon and you're either an Amazon Prime member or you order $25 worth at once to qualify for the free standard shipping.)Amazon.com : Going Rogue Complete Collection : $12.50! Can't beat that with a stick!

Looks like the cards are out of stock again, and now they're up to $22.50. Oh well, they're still a pretty good deal--on par with the yearly subscription rate, without having to commit for a whole year to get it.
And they were originally $22.50 before they dropped to $18.50, so maybe they'll drop again in the future. -
The name "Coach Whip" is probably meant as a pun on "buggy whip".

I'm going to be updating my "cheap CoH" guide, and I was just wondering: now that the power packs are no longer available in the store, are players still given the option to apply one if they buy and apply an old copy of City of Heroes: Architect Edition?
-
You can also access it from any supergroup base teleporters that previously pointed to Galaxy City. They've been redirected to the echo.
-
I did the same thing on at least a couple of characters—relatively higher level characters, too. That's really annoying; there's no indication that you forego your origin-based bonus if you take one power but not the other. I'd really like the option to "respec" my vet rewards so I can fix that.

Quote:No, it's definitely in there. I've run across it a few times myself. It'll be in the "sale items" section if nothing else. What happened to Character Transfer Token x6 offer?
Can´t find it in store.
Wasn´t it supposed to be available for a week during the Head Start?
And then was extended 24 hours do to issue with the paragon market not being accesible?
Head Start started on the 13th if I´m not mistaken. A week has 7 days + the 24hr extension. Shouldn´t it be available on the 20th?
Or am I mistaken on some point? -
Can we please get the old sound effects from when you chose characters and entered the city? The bomp. bomp. bomp. BOOOOMwhiiiiiiiine effects sounded powerful and exciting.
The new ones sound like someone with a cold snuffling back a noseful of snot. -
I haven't actually had the chance to play with it yet, but it seems to me that Burnout could have been made for Controllers (and, by extension, Dominators). Cast your single-target hold, then your multi-target hold…then Burnout and cast them both again? Burnout could have been made for holding archvillains.
Any class who has extremely powerful powers that take a long time to recharge could get a benefit, when you get right down to it. If nothing else, you could pop Moment of Glory (or its equivalent for other melee defense sets) twice in a row for double the Tier 9 fun. -
That's not been my experience. In any power I have that involves a targeting reticle, if I bind it to Shift +, Alt +, or Ctrl + the left button, the reticle shows up if I hit Ctrl, Alt, or Shift--even if it's part of some other keybind. (Like I get the reticle for my Ctrl + left click-bound Shield Charge to show up if I hit Ctrl + J to toggle on my superjump-autorun bind. It's really kind of annoying, but I put up with it for the convenience of being able to target my targetable powers quickly.)

Quote:It may be LBUTTON too, but it's definitely BUTTON1 also.Robotech was SO CLOSE!
/bind shift+lbutton "powexecname Teleport"
The left mouse button is LBUTTON, not BUTTON1.
Try it on a character who doesn't have shift plus either button1 or lbutton bound to something already.
/bind shift+BUTTON1 "local This is a test."
Then click shift + the left mouse button and we'll see who's right.
(Hint: I just did it myself to make sure. I'm right.) -
Quote:/bind shift+button1 "powexecname Teleport"Hi,
It would be great if I could get some help with a bind. I'm looking to bind Teleport to leftshift and when I left click, teleport goes off.
Note that when you press shift, you'll get the targeting rings.
You can make similar binds for control and alt. I also use them for things like casting pets, or for lightning rod/shield charge/spring attack, or Mastermind pet go-to-spot binds. -
Perhaps a more important question is, is it permissible to use Spring Attack if it's Fall?
Maybe you're just supposed to use it to "Spring Forward". -
Don't know about breaking hide, but I took it on my 50 Electric Melee/Shield Defense Scrapper, to turn my Lighting Rod/Shield Charge double-whammy into a triple-whammy. I'm satisfied with it. I don't have numbers, but six-slotted with L30 Obliterate, I seem to recall it did around 200 points of damage at level 50, maybe a little less. About 2/3 of what Shield Charge did, maybe half of what Lightning Rod does, with the same slotting. Takes a bit longer to recharge. (My LR and SC recharge in about 42 sec, SA takes about a minute.)
All in all, I'm quite happy with it as a pool power attack. Glad I took and sixed it. Gives me more AoE. I'll be trying to figure out how to work it in for all my other characters with SJ now. -
The referral program no longer works. I did update the guide to mention that fact.

I'm trying to figure out how to slot a level 41 Spines/Regen Scrapper I need to respec to account for inherent Fitness. I'd like to get the respec done by tonight, so as to scoop the freespec with I21.
The problem is, it's been forever since I played this character, and I can't seem to get a feel for which powers need to be slotted heavily and which don't. At the moment I'm taking everything from Regen, and skipping Barb Swipe and Confront from Spines.
I want to slot her out with an eye toward adding IO sets when I can afford tobut that won't be for a while. So basically I want to six-slot things that have good IO set potential, but not in such a way as to gimp myself playing with just basic IOs.
Any suggestions? -
Quote:That's as may be. But I just know that it was only when I switched from buying level 50s to buying level 30s to slot up my characters that I started having problems even finding recipes on the market. I wanted to slot four Obliterations into my Shield/Elec Scrapper, and the uncommons in the set were hard to find on the market and the rares simply weren't there at all--even when I placed fairly high bids over several days, I only got 2 or 3 out of the total of 8 I needed. I finally had to resort to merit purchases.Maybe I should qualify:
When a recipe is hard to come by, generally the top level sells for a lot more than other levels.
When a recipe is easy to come by, there are always a lot of the top level ones for sale for cheap. But lower levels are probably still more scarce, and may cost more.
If we're talking the Positron's Blast triple, I'm pretty sure the level 50 sells for a lot more than a level 30, but I can't check that from work. ^_^
I'm not sure whether the price for those available at all is higher than the 50 version, but I suspect it would be just from their relative rarity. I know for sure that some of the knockback protection IOs are phenomenally high down into the 10s whereas the L50 versions of them go for a song. My suspicion is that this is because there are far more level 50s being continuously played, cranking out L50 recipes for marketeering, than there are lowbie toons, because most lowbie toons are only lowbies for so long. -
Quote:In my experience, 50s are not going to be the most expensive, because more people will be building with lower-level IOs that still provide respectable values while making their set bonuses available across a wide range of exemplaring. I'm building my characters on L30 IO sets, for instance, and have found them to be rather more costly and hard to find than the L50 versions.Personally, I'd place bids for the IOs at a level below level 50, since level 50 is always going to be the most expensive.
Apart from hero and reward merits, you can also buy recipes at the Ouroboros Astral Merit vendor. If you've been doing a lot of Incarnate Trialing to fill your slots, you might have a bunch of those left over. And needless to say, thanks to the email system, you don't have to use the recipe on the same character you buy it on. -
Quote:Quoted for truth. If you make a habit of teaming all the time, you'll level faster than you know what to do with. Hang out in the badge/TF channels for your server. Form and run pick-up teams--for alignment tips or radio/newspaper missions if nothing else, or Task/Strike Forces if you have the time. Weeklies are good because you'll almost always find lots of level 50s willing to run them with you, and since they'll have 2 to 3 more powers than ordinary people at your level that makes it easier, but any reasonably short TF will have its fans. (Lots of folks like Hess, because who doesn't like fascists with giant robots?)Teaming makes levels go faster. I can gain a level in about an hour of good teaming or during a single ITF, for example.
See the link in my signature for some advice on forming and running PUGs yourself. The nice thing about forming them yourself is that you don't have to wait for someone else to ask you, and you get to be in charge. -
I don't know if this has been brought up yet, but ever since the Fifth Column came back to Boomtown and started putting the smack down on the Council there, the "Defeat Council in Boomtown" mission in Numina's TF has been a lot harder to do; it's tricky to find enough Council before the Fifth Column mobs defeat them.
Solution: make it "Defeat Fifth Column or Council in Boomtown." (They're going to have to change the TF anyway to take out Galaxy...) -
Apparently even the devs are starting to realize how lame the respec is. Otherwise, why would an alternate WST choice suddenly have been added for this week? :P
Nice quick fix for half the complaint, but it would be nice if they'd revamp the whole thing to make it a little more challenging and/or fun. (I mean come on, guys, you did it for Positron...) -
Quote:Tried it. The hero corps level seems to have relatively little relation to the toughness of the mobs faced in the reactor. I set it to +2 and still got a number of waves of level -1 mobs.I suggest that the team leader use the hero corps analyst to ramp things up.
It's just screwed up. -
I have a laptop that has lower resolution than my desktop. I've made a separate default window configuration file for it, which I can load from the options menu when I play a character there, just as I have one for my desktop. But the annoying thing is having to do that when I play on the laptop versus on the desktop. Because I have to do it twice: once when I play on the laptop, once when I play on the desktop. Even if I don't bother loading it on the laptop because I'm just checking my auctions, I still have to load it again on the desktop as the smaller screen resolution of the laptop pushed all the windows out of position.
Is there any way I can make CoH automatically load the file on launch so I don't have to bother mucking about with the menus? -
Quote:Quaterfield I'll grant you, but the other three really aren't all that much longer than the others. Maybe back when you didn't have umpteen zillion zone teleport options or get jetpacks at the bottom of cereal boxes they were, but not anymore. The Shard TFs are epically long and there would be a player revolt if they were included despite the fact that a handful of players might like it.
Quote:As mentioned above, Hess and Hannon are contact chain locked and would cause all sorts of angst over, "why won't the contact talk to me!"
Quote:Now, the Abandoned Sewers Trial... as much a people hate it and it's very failable with a PuG... I'd like to see that thrown in the mix. It would force people to learn how to actually do it successfully and well.
