Thank you to all who have served and who continue to serve.

Quote:Now in all fairness if you are getting 'ripped off' it is because you're bidding wrong. Plan ahead, place low bids, be patient and you'll get the salvage you want at a reasonable price.Quote:you don't need to use the market. just because you hate the market is no reason to ask for an entire rebuild of the crafting system. also, your idea that this will draw more people to the game is false. it will not. this idea falls into your "i hate the market" stance. again, /unsigned to the idea. and is against forum rules to keep posting about the same thing over and over and over. ask Ultimo_.
Things in the market cost what people are willing to pay for them. Yes, players will also set a high cost for an item when they place them in the market, but unless you bid low (or whatever you are willing to pay) then you will never know if someone placed the same thing on the market for a fraction of the cost as the other sellers. -

Placing criteria on a specific badge will not encourage players to "QA the game" it will encourage people to flood the development team that receives the /bug reports to sift through a great deal of flotsam as people log issues regardless as to whether they are bugs or not.
Those of us who to log bugs during our normal gameplay do so regardless as to whether we receive a much coveted badge or not. If (general) you do find bugs and don't report them because "It's not my job" or "It won't get me anything." then you don't deserve anything.
I report bugs because I want to see an improvement to the game, that's it. -
To quote the Devs at the M&G...
"Issue 19 will go live...
...when it's ready...
...Nov 16th...
...-ish."
They will not release it prior to the Thanksgiving weekend, so as has been mentioned above, if we do not see it during the week of the 16th, then it will be after the holiday. -
Roleplaying can likely be found on every server, it takes finding the people that do or starting your own group. I routinely RP on Protector with a group of people and we RP mission arcs, TF's, and create AE missions specifically for RP purposes. But most of the RP'ing goes on outside of game content.
I recommend hitting up each of the server sections and look for RP groups there, or the RP section down in the For Fun portion of the forums, that may give you the best lead for in-game RP groups.
And welcome back to the game.
Edit: I agree with Dechs, the general playerbase really has no effect on our group when we RP. We'll use Coalition chat if there is more than one team going, or local depending on what we are doing. There was one instance when a friend and I were RP'ing a lunch outside of a pub and one of the locals mistook us for NPC's, actually did a double-take because we were in civilian clothing at a table.
It's quite easy to pull off RP'ing in this environment. -
Quote:This cannot be stressed enough. Please don't take this the wrong way. It's not intended as a slam or anything.
But...
It appears that you just jumped in and started playing. There's nothing wrong with that (I do it all the time in new games too), but you've missed out on a LOT of information.
I would recommend that you make a new character (and also use the opportunity to try out a different type of character than you've been playing) and go through the tutorial area.
(you don't have to delete or abandon your main character either - there's plenty of character slots to use).
In Praetoria, be sure and select the conversation options that say you're new to the game.
With a Hero or Villain just select that yes you want to go to the tutorial.
While in the tutorial, READ EVERYTHING. There's a ton of the basic information, such as slots and enhancements and stuff, that you seem to have missed.
At level 10+, you can go to the University and take the Inventions IO tutorial which will also explain more about inventions and the market.
Welcome to the game and Have Fun!
Welcome to the game, Redempti0n. There are plenty of fine people on Justice. I'm usually on there after 10pm PST, if you are on at that time send me a tell @Angel Red.
I highly recommend poking you head into the Mentor Project (link in sig) and joining the 'N P C' channel. Just type /chan_join "N P C" (include quotes and spaces) and introduce yourself. Mentors will happily answer questions or if available, join you for a bit to show you some tips and tricks on combat, marketeering, crafting, enhancing, etc.
As others have already mentioned, there is a tonne of stuff to do in this game on your way to 50, take your time and enjoy it. I think it was 9 months before I got my first 50, for my Bro I think it was something like 2 1/2 years (but he's a huge altiholic.) And there's nothing wrong with being an altiholic, the Devs encourage it, considering that you get 12 free character slots... PER SERVER!
And name me one other game where the Devs give you the option to actually turn off XP, because the players actually wanted it!
I've been playing for three years and still log in pretty much every night. Though the community and the friends I have made here have a lot to do with that.
Once again, Welcome. -
Just don't forget to apply the GR code to your existing account, not create a new one.
And, Welcome back to City of Heroes, Vigilantes, Rogues, Villains, and Praetorians. -
Just a little warning, I've had my HP laptop (not the model mentioned above) blow up. Twice. Due to poor design. They used the same fan to cool both the CPU & the GPU, with no heat sink of any kind, not even a copper bushing, or thermal gel on the GPU.
Personally, I will not purchase another HP laptop. I'd recommend searching the web for forums on this model to see if it might be having similar issues. -
Quote:Welcome to the game and to the forums.I tend to find that I create a costume I really like, then struggle with new characters to devaite away from it!
Still - I'm pretty new to all this (as this is my first post)!
And I think I got Angry Brownie correct on the first shot. -
I so want one of these.

Quote:I was chanting 'Both'.Who doesn't?
P.S. I don't really want to know who doesn't. I'm just trying to be supportive of the previous poster's enthusiasm.
I would like to see a return of HeroCon AND a continued Paragon Studios presence at Cons across the country. I think that helped CoX's visibility and brought in new players, and wasn't just limited to meeting current players who could attend. -

Ivy, have you been completely uninstalling the video drivers, restarting into Safe Mode, then running something like DriveSweeper, before installing the latest driver?
-
Also, the enhancements from the Empowerment Station will cause tendrils like that.
-
Congratulations to the winners.
-
With Titan Sentinel, who need City Vault anyway.

Quote:You are correct. As the Devs put it...Players who were at the Meet & Greet over the weekend reported the devs saying that. They're trying to shoot for around the 16th, but if they can't make it they'll wait until after their Thanksgiving break.
"Issue 19 will go live...
...when it's ready...
...Nov 16th...
...-ish.
They are shooting for the 16th, but if it's not ready to push live then it will be after Thanksgiving, because they are not going to push it live during a holiday weekend." -
In case you haven't read it elsewhere. Word from the SF M&G and we were told to go forth and educate to populace:
There will be two respecs, 1 with i19 and 1 a week later. -
Quote:Same here. They're usually "right" until I get new costume pieces that they need.
I spend a great deal of time in the CC when I'm making a character. Invariably, something will be wrong in a costume when I've clicked 'Enter Paragon/Rogue Isles/Praetoria and forgot to save the costume... -.-
Quote:Quote:If you wanted to, you could walk all the way from Atlas to Croatoa and then Steel to unlock the extra costume slot and customize it without dying. It's very easy.
But the closest tailors to Atlas are in the RWZ. One zone over, you never leave the base, you are completely safe.
I thought there was a level limit to entering the RWZ ... Thanks for feeding this costume changing junkie.
That's what I get for my second and third forum post in almost 6 years ...
Edit: And for those that are having problems with their costumes or are looking for suggestions, might I recommend the The Costume (Re-)Design Thread. -

Quote:Now see, I would expect a Thanksgiving Event would have our characters randomly turn into something like the 'Contaminated' and spread a plague. Why are there no Thanksgiving events? You know, giant turkey running through cities, maybe bring back pumpkin head, have random Native American and Pilgrim attacks. Give the N.A.'s bows and arrows, like the Warriors, and hide out in trees, like the Tsoo in the Hollows. The pilgrims could have special rifles, designed as muskets they could attack with, they could throw rocks, have axes and whatnot.
I'd find it pretty fun. =D -
Quote:You can get a pdf of their menu here, but it is an English pub-style establishment. I don't see anything that states 'vegetarian', though I do see salads and non-meat dishes.Hey, I just noticed: The announcement mentions "great discussions, food and fun!"
Food? The rest of the announcement does not mention food. Is dinner provided? Are there vegetarian options available?
San Francisco has some of the best dining in the world, but I will need to know if I need to get take-out!
