well they could make them like all the other achetypes but with some unique powers i dunno it just a idea

That's the thing, Incarnate is an Origin, not an Archetype. -
I think, somehow, starting a new job in October, and then trying to write a novella in November just isn't going to work. So I'll be skipping it again this year.
I think I could probably come up with something based around Jason Caine (Indiana Jones would eat his heart out, I'm sure) or Nitoichi (who seems to be my current favourite), but I can't see me having the time or degree of concentration. -
What FFM said, roll a test toon and see if you like it.
I usually find Union's nicer to be in, but I know Defiant people who say the other way around (not that I believe a thing Golden Girl says anymore.).
Your best bet really is to roll up a toon and give it a go. -

Be careful of repeating the same word at the start of too many sentences.

I try, but it's so hard... No, I'm aware of this and do try to avoid it, but sometimes I lapse, or can't figure out another way to phrase it.

There she had fought a lot of things she refused to believe existed, called Red Caps, and they had been real tough little... This could do with swapping around slightly a well. Something like: There she had fought some things called Red Caps. Regardless of the fact that she refused to believe they even existed they had been real tough little...
[/ QUOTE ]
I take your point, though not exactly. She still refuses to believe they exist, even though they keep poking her with knives. It's complicated, you'd need to meet her.

Then she had gone over to Galaxy Girl's statue, where she could at least be guaranteed some relaxing conversation, only to find herself talking gibberish. Why was she talking gibberish? Gibberish like what? These are the sort of questions I thought of when I read that bit.

This is a bad roleplayer habit. The story was written as much as a background piece to explain some offline happenings for the character as it was a standalone bit of fiction. People who were there would know what I was on about, of course. However, seeing as I put it here on Creative, I should have expanded that a bit. Like I said, bad habit.
Thanks, Leigh, that was really well written and thoughtful commentary. I think Annette is going to get a few more bits of fiction written about her, so you should see more.
I have also been posting bits and bobs up on the Union Handbook Wiki. You might be interested in some. My user page is here. If you liked this one, you might find the 'Velvet' story interesting. Even if the context doesn't make a lot of sense, I think the character scene-setting should appeal. -

What is Frankenslotting? *confused*
[/ QUOTE ]
Slotting with one or two bits of an IO set along with common IOs (or HOs later on) purely for the Enhancement values and not caring about the Set bonuses.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah... once again I find out I'm doing something with a name without knowing what I was doing. Yeah, I Frankenslot pretty heavily.
Frankly, I slot set items, IOs and SOs in Crow. What's the point of replacing an SO with an IO when it is going to, literally, make absolutely no difference to the value you are changing? I think a 53 SO has about the same value as a 50+ IO, plus ED makes IOs less valuable where you can 3 slot... -
To be fair, you always get a warning when the mission you are going to take directly is timed. However, when a mission has a timed follow-up mission, the 'warning' you get is, at best, vague, and, at worst, not there.
However, timer resets and pauses are just not going to happen. Sorry. They have made more missions timed to avoid farming exploits and the like over the years. -
I have actually got two shotguns on War Crow. One is a shotgun, and I have no clue where it came from. The other is the Holy Shotgun Shells.

My personal opinion is that the raids are one of the best features of the game and easily avoided if needed.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you really think that, SS, I'm having trouble coming up with a reason why you're still playing. The game must be horribly boring for you.
However, generally, I agree. OTOH, the last thing I want to see is an increase in the number, duration, or scale of raids as a lot of people keep suggesting. -
Meh, never seen a forum poll that wasn't one or more of:
a. Rigged
b. Badly written
c. Against the forum rules in some way
So, no thanks. -
I'll give you a hint regarding suggestions (though I'm sure you basically posted this as a joke).
The code for the Halloween event has been written, tested, and finalised. It isn't going to change between now and the end of October. If there isn't a shotgun temp power in there already, there isn't going to be.
Maybe next year. -
Whenever this thing starts up, I never feel like writing. And, sadly, writing to schedules is the main reason I don't try to become a commercial writer and get out of this boring computer business.
-
Did you read why 'The Gaspee' is named that way? There's a reason why it could easily be mentioned in two places in RI.
And, yes, I noticed all the bog-standard generic-sounding names you'd expect to see in every US town... and the standard New England architecture.
And all New England cities have giant octopi in the harbour. I thought that was general knowledge. -
From the recent interviews, it looks like you go to a trainer to actiavte (and also swap between) multi-builds. When you do (presumably for the first time), you enter a respec process, which lets you create your second build.
What definately isn't going to happen is that they copy your enhancements. As Standoff says, you'd end up with empty enhancement slots in the alternative build. If anyone can't figure out why that is, they really aren't trying. -
The 'moral compass' was mentioned in the survey they put out a little while ago, along with a new AT which would be neutral and could swing to one side or the other (or stay neutral).
'Going Rogue' has been on the cards since CoV came out. It was even suggested for putting into the initial CoV launch (yeah, like that was gonna happen). I have actually made heroes who had the potential to slide and been rather annoyed that the system looked like it would never happen.
The fact that it is making its way back into potential schedules is cool and shows that NCNC do seem to have a clue, as opposed to Cryptic who had a good idea and little idea how to follow through with it. -
So... they add new, tougher content for Incarnates, and you end up feeling like it's no different to playing a level 50 hero now because they've shifted the bar up a notch.
They've also set a precident, they've created tougher heroes and tougher content to match. So the players start demanding "more challenge", which means, "give us bigger uber-powers for our Incarnates and bigger uber-mobs to fight." Pretty soon, you're looking at WoW-style level cap raises, without the actual increase in level cap.
Doesn't sound too bad so far? Ah, but what you have to realise is that when they 'raise the bar' they have to develop a load of new content for that play level. It's all new, original content, which takes a lot of time to develop. While they are doing that, they can't be developing content at lower levels.
Since all the content is being developed for these "end-game" players, being at level cap and able to create Incarnates becomes the be-all-and-end-all of playing, since that's where all the new stuff is.
And that... isn't what CoX is. -
If you want plot monkeys...
Jason Caine is a noted expert on necromancy, Netherworld energies, magic, and demonology who works over at the Uni's metaphysics department in Salamanca. He can be called in for consultation, used for plot drops, or he can beat seven shades of you-know-what out of things if required. He's also very old and very immortal, so you can even kill him a bit. He won't mind.
Glory is someone few will ever remember, but she has a job at the MAGI office in Galaxy. She's basically their test source for nether energy and has some unique insights into it. (She's also a cute tragi-comic character and doesn't come out to play much.) -
Totally agree here. LG's page was a bit of a mess until recently. Dan did a good job of tidying it up and getting it all functioning, I think he does deserve the recognition.

One of the categories listed is 'Unconfirmed.' Not sure what you were aiming for there.
Aside from that, looks cool. -
This a bit of a big one for QoL, but I think it is a QoL suggestion so I've raised this thread from its grave again... Maybe someone's already suggested it but:
Channel colours. Please can we assign our own channel colours? On a per window basis would be really fantastic, but globally would be okay. I have two channels in a window where one of them gets a lot less traffic and it would really be useful to have it come up in a massively different colour. -
Well, to be fair, neither Wedding Pack nor the Cyborg pack are applicable to every character, but they each have some elements which are useful to people generally.
Even without a cyborg, the power-up/down emotes seem like a nice idea for any character (slightly guessing, not actually seen them) and the HUD aura is kind of cool for Tech heroes who aren't cyborgs. That's an example.
So you could have a pack with, I dunno, a load of outfit pieces designed for emulating bikers. Not much use if you aren't a biker character, but you might like the motorcycle helmet option and nothing else.
I'm figuring it means stuff like that. -
Perhaps, but if the 'moral compass' ever comes to pass, I rather suspect there will be one or more neutral ATs that can swing either way, and they'll keep the existing 'start as hero'/'start as villain' ATs as they are.
I would agree that a different tutorial concept would be nice for villains, but then I'd kind of like an alternative tutorial for heroes too, and you can always just skip it. -

You want to be a little more specific, DW?
Aside from some places which, frankly, you would see in every town and city in the US (and in some in the UK), I'm having trouble seeing the coincidences. -
I doubt I'll be bothered to put the effort in, to be honest. I can't think of much about my build that I would change from soloing to teaming. If I'm not going to use it for PvE/PvP, I doubt I'll bother activating it.
I'm sure it has potential for many, both PvPers and not, but as yet, I can't see any benefit for me.
