  1. Not the first time this has been suggested. The first time being somewhere in WAR Open Beta, I think.

Game mechanics like this are bound to creep into other (older) games over time if it's possible because they do seem like a good idea.

I do have to ask though, if you can't manually go out and search and find the team members you want, how is this going to make filling out a team easier? I mean, if they aren't there, they aren't there.
  2. Soft sotherners... round our way, the colder it gets, the more the girls shift into short skirts and T-shirts.

Total nutters, the lot of them.
  3. Brought to you by Weather.com, today's weather for the Paragon City area...

Okay, so this is actually for Providence, RI, but it's the same region. I thought it might be interesting to have an actual weather forecast for Paragon City. So, I've taken the Providence forecast and adapted slighty for local conditions. And I've done the temperatures in Celsius, obviously a real US forecast would be using Farenheit, but even I'm not old enough to be more comfortable in Farenheit temperatures...

Anyway, the Forecast and Conditions for Paragon City, RI, as issued on October 31st 2008.

It has been a cold and clear night, with temperatures dropping below zero. With a humidity of 73%, watch out for ice on the roads, you super-speeders.

Today's forecast: Outside of the city, expect a sunny day with temperatures climbing to around 15C. Unfortunately, with the eternal darkness currently plagueing the city, all we can hope for is around 5C and clear skies. Winds will be gusting between 15 and 25 miles per hour, so fliers should take care of those cross winds. There is only a 10% chance of precipitation through into tomorrow. Chance of the dead rising is 100% in most sectors of the city.

A quick look at the weekend. And it's more eternal darkness. Expect temperatures to drop a degree or so, but the winds should subside a little, making it actually feel much the same.

Could have sworn it was Annette Barrington...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Grumble. You wouldn't believe how many times I get that wrong. Why d'you think she introduces herself as 'Annette' and not her full name?

    [ QUOTE ]
I will again point out that the party is on Sunday

    [/ QUOTE ]

Aha! I thought it was, 'cos it gets me out of a WoW guild meeting. And Dinah may be back so Z is back to multi-play.

...Cass is going to have to break people for messing with this isn't she?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just Richard, and she does that all the time.

At last count, it's just Dinah that won't be there. She really needed some sunlight anyway. And Z still has two other potential attendees...

Annette Bennington is already a SG member and will be available for getting people in through the door.
  6. The woman in the corner finishes her drink and wander over to the bar to put the glass down. She turns, smiling slightly, to Ravenna. "If it's old, my dear, it is stylish..." Then she walked calmly to the bar, hips swaying. She began fading half way across the floor, and by the time the door opened and closed behind her, she had vanished entirely.

Also let's remember the wedding pack isn't likely to be purchased by people who weren't around during the time of the wedding. It was a fun thing but it's got no general meaning. Sure the cossie options are nice but would a new player buy them?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I bought it long after the wedding event. At the same time I bought cyborg, actually, and that was a while after the cyborg pack was released. Don't underestimate the pull of costume options.
  8. In a corner booth, her face in shadow, a small, trim woman with faintly egyptian features and yellow eyes sat watching the exchange, cradling a glass of wine. She smiled slightly, as though amused by some internal joke.

Dinah will still be in London on Saturday, enjoying a fine evening of entertainment after an afternoon of horse riding.

Yes... what Annette does rather depends on what she gets out of Di and Richard over today and tomorrow. She's going to be a bit torn at the moment.
  11. Did about a month of EU beta and then started on the Friday the servers opened. Apparently I officially took about 10 months off since I got the 33 month reward in November 07 and the 36 in October 08. However, I wasn't really playing for quite a while before I killed the account.

Now I'm back, and rather happy to be back. I'm not one of those people who finds CoH wonderful all the time. It has many flaws, but what it does have is a wonderful bunch of people to roleplay with, and when I get tired of the repetitive content (it is, but no worse than any other MMO), there's always the fun folks I play with to keep me going.

sometimes you only need to show your face and they're off.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Some of them always did. The 'drug deal' type encounters where there's no victime. The 'dealer' will run off first chance he gets as soon as they aggro. It's been like that for as long as I can remember.

The south side of the dam is the only entrance to the underground i can find. Of course first you need to know how to get to the south side of the dam.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There are two ways through from one side of the dam to the other. One is the obvious one through the Longbow base, the other is the tunnels, which do have entrances on both sides, though the one on the city side is considerably more difficult to locate. Plus, obviously, if you're in level range for the zone, navigating the tunnels to get through to the far side is a painful experience.

The tunnels are the reason there are plenty of Arachnos troops on the city side of the dam. Longbow are supposed to be looking for the tunnel entrance... and if they can't find it then I don't feel any hero who can't find it should feel too bad about things.
  14. It could be another one of those portents of the "Uncoming Storm."

Or they thought: Meh, let's do zombies.
  15. Ravenswing

    Hunts

As far as I'm aware, neither. But I could be wrong. Pretty sure with the Respec TF I did (too many times) we ended up splitting up and once one group finished one task in one zone, the next hit another task in another zone.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
I demand an explanation. It's not like the Government would just say "It's halloween. Expect Zombies. It'll probably pass"

    [/ QUOTE ]

I dunno. I've had quite a few of my heroes saying more or less exactly that. "Yeah, so, zombies. Do you have any clue of the metaphysical history of this time of year?!"

Tried to do Eden but the Leader bug got me (have to be level 37-39 to choose it).

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is also a sin! The Eden Trial is truely awesome (Btw... it's 39-41)

    [/ QUOTE ]

There I have to disagree. I thought Eden was the most godaweful boring thing I'd ever been on. Hess, on the other hand, is actually a not to be missed.

    [ QUOTE ]
though I must admit ED didn't make all that much difference to me...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Me neither. I always thought it was better to hit and do damage, than miss, and statistically I'm right under ED. The huge damage numbers prior to ED possibly made a difference there though.
  18. Started at EU release, so that's I4.

From an individual standpoint, the powers have changed (many will say, been nerfed) by a huge dgree. MoG used to be perma-able, and a typical /Regen Scrapper was a GOD. Then it became a God-mode fight and escape power. Now MoG is a 15 second Clicky you use to soak Alphas.

ED, of course, came in with I6, changing the face of power structures by massively reducing the effect of enhancements. Prior to I6, a typical Scrapper (or Tank, or most other people's) attack power was slotted 1 acc, 5 dam, or sometimes 6 dam (which was actualy statistically stupid, but hey) and the damage numbers were truly awesome.

The introduction of the EB/AV duality in missions made it possible to do even the last 5 levels without teaming constantly. So the game with one of the best teaming mechanisms around also became one of the best soloing games there is.

    What else...

Character body morph sliders. Those didn't exist until I5, I think, maybe later. Prior to that, you couldn't tweak body sliders after initial creation, and there were no face sliders.

    Veteran rewards are pretty recent.

    The Inventions system.

    Bases weren't introduced until I6/CoV.

Yeah, the game is hugely different from what it was even when the EU servers started, and that was a year after the game began.

So... Not so much as a fix, as a fudge?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Don't got getting technical, FFM. It's a two week event, they don't really need a fix until next year. And fudge is tastier.

Don't use Steel, go to the Indy Port one from King's Row.

    1. Wouldn't Annette be fearful of taking on too much of Ni's aggression? I'm only guessing but isn't this why she's split the too parts off? Surely the moment Ni raised the idea of Annette being more like her, Annette would have balked at it?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Annette believes, rightly or wrongly, that she needs some of Ni's aggressive nature since she's too passive without. She also believes, rightly or wrongly, that she can keep control of Ni. In practice, later events have shown that Annette isn't as in control as she thinks.

    [ QUOTE ]
    2. Would Annette really want to tell Bodi about talking to Ni straight away? As she's only just starting to come to terms with having a split personality surely she'd be keeping it to herself until she got it straight in her own head?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, what you don't see before this was the RP'd scene where one of Zortel's characters, Juan Ross, got them together using psionics and had a nice long chat with Annette about the whole thing.

Also, Annette got sick early on of trying to hide her secret ID from people when she was terrible at it. She developed an attitude of "better to be honest." She had to be very practical fairly young, and has a pretty starightforward view on things. Besides, she knows Juan will report the whole thing, so there's no point in being coy.

People with reliable connections. It's all fun and games until a chunk of guests vanish.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I was going to say, "I'll make an Annette" and then you mentioned that... It's probable that the connection would be fine, but it might suddenly vanish. Probably worth a try, and it saves me forking over Inf to change Ni's civie outfit. I'll have her turn up on night over the next few days and you can ginvite her.
