  1. If Alex is taking coffee, then War Crow should arrive shortly after they arrive with his eyes closed, sniffing loudly.

    Regen Choice

To stuff a figure on this: 3-slotted Tough plus Resilience will give you about a 25% resistance to Smashing and Lethal damage.

Putting real figures on how Health affects you is difficult because it interacts weirdly with the other regen powers.

I'd suggest playing with a toon builder program and seeing what you can get out.
  3. Some comments on playing a regen scrapper. I have two now, one at 45, the other at 30. I like playing regen, it suits my style.

What Krunch says is mostly true, and also way too pesimistic. He has his prejudices, just like everyone else, including me.

    [ QUOTE ]
@ When I was a noob and plowed in to mobs and got myself right in the centre, taking damage from all sides.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Like this one. I do this all the time and live. Like anything else, it depends on picking your targets. Rush a mob of reds, potential faceplant, oranges and you're okay, but it depends on your build.

Your biggest issue with regen is alpha strikes. You have (effectively) no resistance or defense, the only soak you have for alphas is your Max hit points. This is why Dull Pain is so important, it increases Max HP.

Your bread-and-butter power doesn't come until 16, and that's Integration. Before that, being regen isn't terribly easy. It's probably a bit harder than being anything else (due to lack of defense or resistance.

Integration is your only toggle, and it's a very good one. It provides good status effect resistance, and a substantial increase in regeneration rate, but it is a toggle, so it can be taken down. This is where IH comes in. It cannot be dropped, it just boosts your regen rate and keeps you alive while you try to keep going. (That's how I beat Ringmistresses.)

IH will not allow you to solo AVs (not anymore anyway), but combined with Dull Pain it gives a substantial enough boost in regen performance that you shouldn't have to worry about alpha strikes from AVs.

Be wary of MoG, make sure you read every single piece of info on the power. In some situations its just playing with fire to use it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, be wary of MoG, but also don't believe those who say it's useless. I tanked Infernal solo last night running MoG. OTOH, if I used it to try to take down a Ringmistress I'd be toast. It's vulnerable to auto-hit attacks, very vulnerable to psionics, and also to very large numbers of opponents (because there's more chance some of them will get through the defense). As long as you remember that, it's a very useful power which can pluck victory from defeat. It's even useful against auto-hit and high Accuracy or massed numbers, just so long as you use it as a temporary shield and run like crazy.

    [ QUOTE ]
One great power that looks very humble at the start, but is great in the latter level's when SO's are flying about, is reconstruction

    [/ QUOTE ]

'Modern regen theory' says get Reconstruction early and slot it fast. 2recred, 3 heal. A third recred is viable, but I don't think it makes enough difference to the recharge time. Matter of taste. Currently, Reconstruction will deliver back about two thirds of War Crow's hits to him every 36 seconds, if required.

One last word. Other scrappers will look down on you and say oh you took the easy way, regen is an I win button etc

    [/ QUOTE ]

Never had that. Most of them just look at you and groan because you're ready to go and they're still regening hits or endurance.

Regen is not an 'I win' button. It is a relatively lazy way to survivability, until the proverbial hits the air conditioning, and then it's just as hard as anything else is.

    Haikus

    Kicking butt and taking names
    Flee, it's scrapperlock!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nope. The correct Scrapper Haiku is just seventeen repetitions of Kill! It probably even works in Japanese.
  5. I'd just like to add that I prefer your lyrics to the original ones.

    No, I'm not joking.

Currently working on a BS/Regen, she is even nastier, as with Parry I have a good stackable +DEF (IIRC with 4x Parry I have +80% DEF ).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Katana/regen can do the same trick, however, I'd love to know how you're planning to get four overlapping Parries. The maximum you can do with katana is two overlapping Divine Avalanches, and I don't believe the +DEF on Parry has a longer duration than Parry does.

Incidentally, katana (and I assume BS, my BS/Regen hasn't got Parry yet) plus Regen is a really effective combination, at least according to DrRock's Sustained Damage Anlysis gizmo. I'm hoping I get to 50 before they nerf it.

Actually, I can't help but think that some of the 'nerfs' they put in to the Regen set actually made it more effective in some ways. I'd imagine that Ringmistresses were more of a problem when IH was a toggle, for example.

There's a get together in Manchester??

    [/ QUOTE ]

It was mooted, and since we'll soon have a fair proportion of GG in the Manchester area, we might be able to swing it. J & Ellie have relatives up here to give them an excuse... Just so long as no one else wants to be put up in our house, it's starting to get a bit full!
  8. [ QUOTE ]
Yeah, but it does feel rather SMASH with some of the BS Attacks. Headsplitter in particular.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Haven't seen Headsplitter, but Golden Dragonfly is pretty SMASH.

Um, I'm not complaining about katana. Crow does very well with his little big-sticker. And, yes, the animations are cool (though the fact that you are left-handed drives me nuts). However, for sheer power, I'd have to recommend Broadsword.
  9. Actually, there were more people there from outside the Vigil than from in it, unless Corcra's a member now.

Regretably, she probably just means she's got a real pointy stick at home. *heaves exaggerated sigh*
  11. Whips, canes, handcuffs... maybe.

    Sharpened sticks... no.
  12. All I can say is... thank heavens for kevlar.
  13. Eddie can handle it easily... can Raoul?
  14. For some reason, women seem to think it comes from the fairies at the bottom of the garden or something, don't they? *ducks behind Doc*
  15. We need to get Raoul and Eddie Munt together, preferably with Stargazer and one or two other barely dressed women around.
  16. The TV News reporter on Channel 12 turns from a piece on Statesman opening a new home for orphaned children in the Hollows and goes very serious.

"This just in. Reports of another robbery at the hospital in King's Row. Details are extremely sketchy at this time, but it is believed the thief struck in the early hours of the morning.

"More details to follow on our evening broadcast.

"In other news, police are praising the efforts of various unnamed heroes who located a Family storage facility for stolen goods and backstreet clinic last night..."
  17. If you want survivability plus damage output, try broadsword/regen. BS is a little slow, but has horrible levels of damage output. War Crow probably should have been BS instead of katana, but at the time I liked the idea of faster attacks and he is lethal enough. It's just that my little 6th level BS/regen is able to fell white minions faster than my 44th level kat/regen and it's a bit embarassing.

Few people know that Ravenswing actually lives in a pouch on my back, watching my every move, ready to point out any failure.

    This is a lie.

I am, in fact, omniscient and therefore simply know whenever Wordy makes a mistake. Sometimes I let him believe he's got away with it.

but rather the fact that Marvel alleged that there was potential for such regulations to be breached by the character creation system.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Just to be pedantic.
  20. IIRC, Claws has the lowest endurance cost of any of the scrapper primaries, and regen's legendary 'no downtime' doesn't really kick in until you can slot Quick Recovery with SOs.

Unless you are British, you get a +1 for the supressed urge to cross dress .

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Corrected for accuracy in English.

Besides, that's only in public school, and it's mostly a supressed urge to be spanked.

We may be getting a little off-topic.

iCON is located in the upper part of the Steel Canyon zone

    [/ QUOTE ]

Q: I get my behind spread over a dozen blocks trying to get to the Steel Conyon Icon and I have no friends, is there a better place?

A: You may find it easier to do the hundred yard dash from the King's Row intrance into Indy Port to the Icon there. Yes, the mobs are higher level, but the aggro distance is the same and, if you're careful, you only have a couple of hundred yards to run up the road.

One thing, don't go to the named assistant in there, she'll tell you to come back when you hit level 30. The other shop assistants are more helpful.

    [ QUOTE ]
Q: Um, I want to play a guy/girl but I don't know how to act...

    [/ QUOTE ]

A: Then don't. Really. The number of men who pull of convincing female characters is actually quite large, but I'm pretty sure they thought they could do it before they tried, or picked a rather 'masculine' female stereotype.

Do it wrong, you risk irritating the guys and seriously annoying the girls.

Girls playing guys seem to have less trouble. I don't know whether this is better understanding, better confidence, or the fact that men are so simple anyone can mimic them.

    SR buff in i7?

The only reason the AoE defense is being reduced is that it was increased as a quick-and-dirty fix to improve SR's survivability. This is not required once the new defense scaling system comes in.

Interestingly, very high levels of defense seem to suffer under the I7 changes. Elude and MoG get slightly less effective, at least according to DrRock's little analysis program.

  25. I'd imagine kheldian computers employ quantum computer components, particularly for space navigation and the like. However, little known fact which a lot of people tend to forget (or don't know), a quantum computer is worth about zip without a standard silicon-based front end. It's kind of like trying to run a spreadsheet on a Crey (real-world one, nothing to do with the Countess). I remember a magazine where someone had rigged an interface up so they could do the computation for their ray-tracing software (running on an Amiga 2000) on a Crey super-computer. Effectively, the Crey was being used as a maths co-processor for the Amiga.

I rather suspect that Doc's rod-logic computers would need some form of ordinary computer interface system since rod-logic is a mechanical system and kind of difficult to interface to a holographic UI.

In short, most of this stuff as a vast pile of fudge, liberally linked together with flange, and really shouldn't be examined very closely.

    Example:

Pyrokinesis is a 'recognised' psychic power. It's based around either a limited or very precise form of telekinesis. A pyrokinetic is able to increase the energy of the molecules in an object, making them 'vibrate faster'. Generally, if you do this enough, the object will burst into flame.

    Cryokinetics do the opposite.

These are considerably less 'specific to the hero' versions of the powers that Z has described, but her explanations are perfectly valid for the situation.
