In case anyone hadn't seen this, they've created a new forum Workshop for builds. While I personally think this will create more confusion then Zwill thinks it will reduce, I did want to point it out so folks know it exists. So now our attention to tank builds will be divided between forums.
-
My one Stormie is a Grav/Storm troller. He was a bit slow leveling up as I spent a lot of time soloing him, but talk about fun in the later game.
-
4x Brute, or Tank, or Scrapper; Fiery Melee paired with Electric Armor. Any combination of them. Good damage with endurance debuffs stacking.
4x Corruptors. Fire/Dark would be a start. Fire/Time and Sonic/Time would also be interesting.
4x Fire/Rads are a hoot. I've been on a few Fire/Rad teams on Freedom that steam roll very nicely.
4x ill/? controllers. Considering ill/Rad builds have been created that can solo AVs, a team of 4 Illusionists with varying buff/debuffs would make for an even better set up. -
I'd like to add some final thoughts about the addition of this forum.
I really feel like this will splinter the main AT forums.
So going forward, do people post their build requests here, or in the main AT forum?
If they want to find some ideas for a build, do they look here, or in the main AT forum?
As was mentioned earlier, should people fail to follow the suggested formatting, how will they search this forum for something that is focused on their wants/needs?
I also believe that some of the folks who normally help people with their builds won't bother coming here becauseA. they don't realize this has been created,
Looking at it from a very basic viewpoint. The main AT forums could be considered document folders: one each for Scrapper, Blaster, Defender, Etc. Now you've added a miscellaneous folder that also has some of same files, but now you've spread it between two folders. And how does that redundancy make things simpler? How does that make it "more organized"?
B. they don't have time to go through a second forum looking for posts, or
C. they'll find separating specific AT build questions/requests into two forums to be inefficient and a waste of time.
-
I'll certainly try and give this a chance, but as someone who tends to help out primarily in the tank forums you're now asking others, like myself, to keep track of yet another forum to help people with build advice.
Should this forum get enough traction and we get a large influx of build advice requests that cross all ATs, I'm not going to waste a lot of time weeding for Tank specific threads as I'm sure I'll get frustrated doing so. I suspect I won't be the only one. -
Since Exalted is a VIP only server it won't be used as part of the regular Tuesday Rotation. But, as was mentioned, Warboss is talking about doing a Saturday special edition for Exalted.
-
Which is why I mentioned "late September".
My billing date is the 29th of the month, so I fall outside the 1-10th issue... so far. -
Late September I received a Paragon Reward token, but no points. I believe that was because I'd already received my September points when Freedom went live. I'm expecting to get my next allotment of points when I get my next Reward token.

Show us your current build and we'd be able to answer this better.

Welcome to the forums. First of all you should do a few things for us, so that we can help you a bit more.
If you're on a PC, I recommend you get both Mids Hero planner (www.cohplanner.com) and the Titan Sentinel (http://cit.cohtitan.com/). Mids is currently the best build planner for the game. The sentinel will allow you to pull your current live build and import it into Mids should you want to create a build directly off your current character.
Spend some time searching the Tank forums for other Fire/Fire threads and read them. Find builds and/or ideas that sound appealing to your play style and import those builds into Mids and play around till you think you've got something that fits your needs/wants/desires. Once you've found something that's close to what you want, export it back here and we'll be able to give you better feedback that's more directed at your build.
Also make sure you read some of the Fiery Aura guides in the Tank Guides area. There's some very good information in the Guide area that will help you think about your build plan. -
I missed your bit about the A-merits, even after looking at it a couple of times. My bad.
-
I'm currently having a lot of fun with a Sonic/Time. It may not be as "pretty" as Fire/ but the debuffs in Sonic have been nice on him.
-
And to add to things here:
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Defens..._Typed_Defense
It basically rehashes what's been said, but also adds in a few more details. -
About the only things I'd add to CMA's post:
You can use Alignment (A) Merits to purchase the Kin Combats, the LotG 7.5% recharge, or the Miracle +recovery. You can get A-merits a couple of different ways. One, run hero/villain tip missions. The second time you "re-affirm" yourself as a hero/villain you'll get an A-Merit, and every time there after. You can get those every other day on a toon. Do the Signature Story Arc (currently "Who will die") as you can currently get a merit for the first two times you run the arc.
Lastly, don't bother with the Steadfast -kb IO in Temp. Invulnerability. Switch that out to a Steadfast Unique; + 3%def/resist. You're getting enough kb protection out of Unyielding without the -kb IO. -
Depending on the Primary he's got, and how he's slotted for set bonuses, your friend may not need Tough/Weave.
Tough/Weave isn't necessary, but it certainly helps make an Inv tank tougher. Tough will allow you to hard cap your s/l resistances, and Weave will make it easier for you to soft cap (45% defense) s/l/e/n.
Personally I would take tough/weave on my Inv. tank. I wouldn't grab Focused Accuracy as I think it cost to much endurance for the +acc it brings. I can replace most of that in set bonuses that don't cost me endurance. I would include CJ for the amount of Defense it brings vs. the endurance cost. You should include the Steadfast Defense Unique in your build. Take a look at other Invulnerability builds in the tank forums. See what others have done. See what others have recommended. Pull their builds into Mids and play with them to see how the sets effect things. -
Haven't played with StJ yet so can't really say much about that. What I can say is go look at both of Call Me Awesome's Invulnerability guides.

Are you using Mid's Hero Planner(www.cohplanner.com)? It's the de facto build planner in the game. Show us what you're thinking so far by exporting a build here using Mids.
Those would be places to start. -
When I get around to getting StJ I'm planning on making an Inv/StJ tank. Should make for a nice combination.

Quote:I wasn't 100% sure on the costume portion, but I did know the Bio pictures didn't tell the complete story. This isn't meant to be a slight on anyone by any means, I just wanted to make sure anyone who was reading the thread realized that there were additional winners that weren't mentioned yet. As Dinah pointed out the other two KR2 Biography winners were Alerik and Redmaul. Congratulations to all the other prize winners. In the end, all the tanks who were able to participate in the event were winners.Rangle - Myrmy will have to verify but I was under the impression that they were judging costumes as a 100% whole between both KR1 & KR2.
Regarding the bio contest, as I stated in a previous post I still have to collect the information from Dinah Might as to who the 1st/2nd/3rd place bio winners were in KR2 as Dinah was so DYNAMITE in handling the bios there entirely on her own (thank you again Dinah!).
Either Dinah can feel free to post them here or PM me the information and I will post them, we surely do not want to leave them out!!
[Dinah, the spelling is Viridian Roo, as in the color Viridian and the CoH Arch-villain Viridian.] -
I don't believe those pictures include the KR 2 winners.
-
I'm really disappointed that no one mentioned that he could have waited until a new Mids came out including Street Justice and its (current) numbers. Mids has been pretty much the "de facto" character build tool for a number of years, and it's rare that they don't have the numbers correct. (Yes it does happen, but they're quick to fix them from what I've seen.) No, it's not an official source of information, but it's still a source like Paragonwiki or City of Data.
I'm not saying you should never be able to get a refund on a product that doesn't work, or that you don't like, but if the purchaser hasn't done their "due diligence" before their purchase, that's not the fault of the seller. (I.E. you should make sure you're not buying a house that's down wind of a pig farm during the summer months.)

This would be an entertaining emote to have.
As a side note, petitions are against forum rules so it's possible you'll get a mod visit for a change of thread name... not that I plan on saying anything myself. -
Great Pictures so far. I'm hoping someone has more pictures from KR2 as any I'd have taken on my laptop would have been pretty ugly, to say the least.
I did fail to mention that I somehow won a prize for Viridian Roo's Biography. I'm still somewhat surprised that I did win, but I glad the biography was appreciated by others. -
Well. I was able to get on for the event and get a League started in King's Row 2. Thanks to everyone who joined up with my toon "Viridian Roo".
Sorry I couldn't hang out longer. I didn't take any pictures as my laptop was running at the lowest graphics settings. Any pictures I would have taken wouldn't have done justice to the beauty of so many tanks in the Zone.
Once again, happy 7 years of Tanker Tuesdays.
