  2. I rarely use IOs until my toons hit 50. Usually I'm leveling too fast to bother looking for recipes, salvage and the whole crafting ordeal.

I usually buy SOs once I'm 22 and and then garbage slot whatever drops as it comes. If I get a recipe with the appropriate salvage, I'll craft it and throw it in, otherwise they get vendored/AH'd.

After 50 I'll keep putting in SO's as they drop and retrofit IOs as I see fit.

Most of the time your pets will still be with you if you crash now with tech that was introduced recently (zoning pets).

  6. I'm pretty sure the new nVidia cards have the same two dual-DVI outputs on the back, which is pretty disappointing. Probably going to go ATi this round because they have two dual-DVIs and a mini-displayport for 3 monitor eyefinity fun.
  7. If you want inf sinks, they should make 'unique' shinies available at the AH.

When I mean unique, they could be anything, but they all pretty much do nothing but add garnish for characters, they are limited number (per server) and/or they expire.

The stuff could be a gold title, a different costume change look, costume piece, emote, temp power, whatever, as long as it is recognizably unique.

The only thing it would do is make people pay for the luxury items that last a week, month etc. and nothing much else.

Eg. If they implemented a highest bid auction for 1 Statesman mask costume piece, usable only once for one toon, I could easily see that going for 10+ Billion (if you could go past the 2B caps), if that costume piece would only be available once per year (across all servers). Costume codes that were given out could be auctioned off that way as well.

If you ran it ebay style it wouldn't be bad, but if you ran it swoopo (each bid incurs a set charge) style you could destroy inf on a massive scale. The only thing is that you want the devs to invest the least time on this for the most return, so the less work they'd have to do to implement unique/new shinies the better.

  11. OK, after reading all the cool concepts and seeing all the great costumes I decided to take a stab at it.

Still not done everyone but here's a few of the FP. I decided to reimagine them in a future tense.

    Statesman

Jessica never fully recovered after her unimaginable suffering at the hands of Recluse's thugs, and Statesman never forgot the day they committed Ms. Liberty to the asylum. Taking Excalibur into his care, he vowed to take revenge upon Recluse. After tearing apart the Rogue Isles, Statesman engaged in an epic battle and put a permanent end to the twisted leader of the Arachnos. Ever since that day, Statesman became grimmer and more brooding as time wore on...

    Sister Psyche

Sister Psyche's body was utterly destroyed by the return of the Red Menace. Her spirit has taken permanent refuge in Aurora Borealis, which has enormously complicated the lives of Calvin Scott and Manticore.

    Positron

Positron found a permanent cure for his condition and has since retired his battle suit. His dedication to applied research led to many breakthroughs, including the ability to mass produce Citadel successors for the counter invasion of the Rikti Homeworld.

    Citadel

Citadel was once again destroyed in the battles with the Rikti, but Raymond Keyes had already discovered ways to replicate and improve upon the Bastion/Citadel design. He set about in mass production of Citadel and used them in their debut to subdue the Rogue Isles after the death of Lord Recluse.

Citadel version 6 number in the hundreds and they share instantaneous communication with one another and work in a collective hive mode. Together they are called Legion. The sixes also stay vigilant for previous versions which were corrupted by Siege programming.

    Numina

The reappearance of the Red Menace was unexpected but the Freedom Phalanx thought they were prepared to deal with him. As Numina once again took over the body of the Red Menace, she quickly discovered that the Red Menace was a living trap, twisted by Rikti Magi to destroy the Surviving Eight.

Believing the newly returned villain to be subdued by Numina, the Phalanx was caught unaware and Sister Psyche was blown to bits by the Red Menace in the Freedom Phalanx base. Unwilling to destroy the Red Menace as he held Numina hostage, the Freedom Phalanx watched helplessly as he made his escape. The Red Menace/Numina is currently believed to be hiding in Grandville, and reappears from time to time to torment Manticore.
  12. I would suspect that a large part of ITF lag comes from the style of gameplay that people engage in as well. Like UberGuy has stated, large amounts of critters in AE farms don't exhibit the same lag that last mishes of the ITF can show, so I would gather that it is some specific power that is causing the CPU loading to go through the roof.

I would also believe that each instance of any mission/map/zone is partitioned with a maximum amount of resources available to it as well such that any such resource hogging won't affect other zones.

It would be interesting to take a dev along for the ride to see if they can witness/profile the type of lag that everyone seems to be upset about. It's obvious that not everyone has issues with the ITF like the complainants here have noted. As well, putting resources towards fixing this particular issue means that other issues do not get addressed either, so I would guess it's either get your new shinies on time or wait so they can fix this stuff first.

Did you tell the Television that we want to bask in his warm glow by multiplying the number of screens to increase our exposure to him?

Are the devs looking for numbers (player wise) for doing a FOV update or is there another way to make this a priority for them?

    NCSoft Staff?

On the last map of Mender Silos Ouros TF/SF (the Siren's Call map) has an easter egg located on the tree located along the East war wall by the villain base.

Click on it and you get a message.

I'd have to disagree with that statement. As much as you may dislike him, macskull is quite knowledgeable and helpful.

All he was doing was calling out Hyper on his method of kb mitigation in PvP, which is an area that I know is macskull's demesne.

Then I upgraded to the Nvidia 260, and had considerably less lag.

Now with the Nvidia 295 and the 260 as my dedicated PhysX card >.> (I know I don't need it) Anyways, I dont have any lag in the ITF now.
The lag is definitely server side. Nord's comments regarding power recharge lag are indicative of this, just like the old school Hami raid lag.

As far Pain's new setup goes, the 295's 2nd GPU doesn't have any effect whatsoever on increasing performance within CoX (and may not even be used properly once Ultra mode comes according to Posi). As far as CoX is concerned, the 295 is running just like at 275/285 single GPU.

Additionally, the PhysX portion of CoX is very outdated as well. It cannot take advantage of any GPU cards pressed into purpose as a PhysX processor. CoX currently can only use the original dedicated PhysX cards from BFG and Aegia, otherwise it's all software processed.

I've seen the word 'lie' used more than once in a couple of threads.

Just remember that saying something that is false is not always a lie. It will be untrue, but it can only be a lie when the teller knows it to be untrue. It is not lying if you believe what you are saying is true, even if the statement itself is false.

Sorry I don't mean to pick on you, but the inflation that is being complained about is the PvP IOs, and generally everything else is sort of 'acceptable' but mostly rising on desirable stuff.

The reason why everyone is focused on the PvP IOs is that #1 this is in the PvP thread, #2 more than one PvP IO has crossed the inf cap boundary, thus taking the sellers to find alternate ways than the market to sell their loot.

Whilst the desirability of PvP IOs are generally high, the effective market for them is exceedingly small. This is because very few people can afford them. If you want an analogy, PvP IOs are viewed like a (limited edition) Ferrari. There are many more buyers than there are cars, and not everyone can afford them, and the price seems to be bid up further each day (within limits).

The overall market has seen some inflation but the level at which certain PvP IOs has shot past the market/inf cap has taken the devs by surprise, and of course the people who thought they could afford PvP IOs before they shot up are finding that they are falling behind because an even smaller subset of the rich have found ways to make themselves richer yet.

In a sense, there are a bunch of millionaires who are pretty upset that they've reached their plateau and found a bunch of billionaires sitting at the table and bought up all the seats.

Hence this discussion isn't about overall inflation, or even all PvP IOs...just the super-desirable super-rare PvP IOs that everyone seems to want but only the ridiculously wealthy few can afford.

Seeing as a single PvP IO farm drop (worth 20M - 4B) can be had in 24 hours whilst AFK and a 3 hour 50 PL requires real playing, I could see the exchange rate being fair.

The interesting part about the markets, PvP IOs and 3 hour 50s is that most of the people engaged in powergaming are the ones optimizing all three. I'd imagine I earn around a billion inf a week on average without seriously doing alot of optimization, but I'd imagine someone who worked all three of segments (and purple farming) is probably earning an order of magnitude more than I am.

I'd guess the top tier of inf gamers is probably earning 10-40B a week. That is why there are no PvP IOs on the market, they trade well beyond the inf cap now, and there are enough people who can afford them as a significant but casual purchase.

    Original topic:
As far as increasing the drop rate, it ain't gonna happen without really screwing up the rest of the game, since PvP IOs are quite (too) powerful in the PvE game.

Increasing the drop rate will make everything else less desirable as everyone will expect PvP IOs on all their toons (power inflation). More people will be able to gain influence faster, leading to a vicious inflation spiral.

If the devs want to make the PvP IOs bind on pickup, just imagine the value of all the PvP IOs on the market before such code gets implemented.

I think the only thing the devs can do is try and plug the fastest inf gain holes and ride out the inf flood. About the only saving grace is that the inf is concentrated in so few hands that once those people are satiated perhaps the price of all that stuff will fall below the cap and show up on the market again.

PS. Raising the cap would be nice but I bet it is a huge effort tech wise.

If you are keen eyed enough you will see the difference on test server now that open beta has arrived. Changes due to exploits are never commented on in the patch notes so you have to go find the changes yourself. Until then, challenge away...

Putting a screenshot of me or someone admitting to using exploits in the forums would be even more foolish than writing about it.
