Well, I dunno about group farming but I do know that a lot of people have made 'personal boss farms'. They aren't really boss farms in the terms of huge spawns of bosses so much as the maps are made up entirely of "Defeat Boss" spawns. The map is Empty otherwise, and the bosses have no surrounding spawns. Usually players make them for leveling to like 22 or something then abandon them, or else for quick inf farming at 50. They're pretty ineffective if you have more than 2 people, though.

Honestly I'm going to have trouble narrowing it down. If you're looking more for 'lack of skill' than 'jerks', that'll help me winnow it down a bit.

As far as I know you can play CoH everywhere but Soviet Russia. In Soviet Russia CoH plays you.

I'm going to give a little bit of unasked-for advice that I think might help a little bit.
a) Try all the archetypes. Not only does each archetype play differently but many of the powersets within the archetypes play differently as well. Some defenders buff, some heal, some buff and heal, some debuff and buff, some buff and have crowd control, some debuff and have crowd control and a heal... and they all have uses on teams.
b) Don't be afraid to start teams. Let people know that you're new, sure - but don't take crap from them because of that. Advice, yes. Abuse, no.
c) Learn the enhancement system.
d) Visit www.paragonwiki.com to answer questions you may have about the game or to clarify certain aspects. Also be sure to find Mid's Hero Designer, I don't remember the link(sorry!), but it's a very helpful tool that will let you plan out your character's build or else let you try out some different options. -
Well, I don't know that it is against the rules to ask for clarification on the rules... but you might be better off PMing a moderator your question.

Whoa. That's a heck of a lot of maintenance. I am a little confused as to why there's a discussion thread about it, though.

It would be a terrible idea for reasons already listed, but let's add another one anyway : There is still no definitive level 50 end-game experience. I expect that to change within the next year or so, but it is a credit to the game that the peak level is not an end unto itself.

I don't want the fortune teller buffs ever. Why? Because the premise of them is ridiculous to me. You're going to tell me that all these characters are fortune tellers/psychics in addition to their normal powers and I'm going to have my fortune read constantly? During fights? Before every mission? No. Just no. Also, I hate the animation for it and the graphics.
I just flat out don't like the fortune teller thing at all. I don't like the concept and I don't like the implementation of it.
But...! That's just me. I recognize that there are a ton of people out there that feel the exact opposite of the way I do and their opinions are just as valid as mine. I don't want the thing removed from the game, heck no! I just want the option to auto-accept or auto-decline. That's it. Saying it like that makes it seem trivial to implement but I know it really isn't... I'd just like to see it happen, really. -
Am I the only one that read the subject and thought of a dirty reply, started to type it, then backed off because of potential bannage?
Sigh. -
The game's been running. Have you tried verifying all files? That's about all the advice I can give you :/ You might try the technical support forum.

First off, welcome back to CoH
I went to WAR for a while too, fun game though the endgame is so laggy it was nearly unplayable for me.
I'd recommend you try the server forums and see which suits you better there, most servers have slightly different 'flavors' to them. -
Nobody here can/will answer this because of a NDA. If you do get in the Beta then you can use the Beta forums to ask.

I'd like to see it and play it. I know I'd have to show it to my mom as well, she's a big Whedonite.
My guess on what would happen:
Young girl is attacked by hordes of vampires, werewolves, and zombies. She fights, tooth and nail, not to be killed and eaten (not necessarily in that order). She has no superpowers aside from an extraordinary will to live. She manages to survive her ordeal but somehow gets the idea that she now does have superpowers. The arc's contact is that girl's mother, she wants you to stop her daughter from getting herself killed as she tries to find herself amongst the undead underbelly of Paragon. Along the way she'll learn that she doesn't actually have superpowers - but maybe that's not what matters. Maybe what matters is that she's willing to do what it takes so that these monsters won't harm other little girls and boys.
Of course, she dies horribly in a mismatched, misguided battle and it is your job to step in and finish what she started or else things will end up worse than they were before she went nutso-bananas. -
I can't believe I forgot to mention it but you could also try a couple VEATs. A couple friends and I all rolled Banes and they are pretty fun - especially once we tried 'gun' builds.
Mix & match and they're all pretty fun. My bane's "cheap" (well, "no purple" at least) gun/mace blast build has 28.5% melee defense, 48.5% ranged defense, and 33.2 AoE defense. But then, that's when Hidden... each number is about 5% lower when not hidden. When the three of us were together we'd have much higher defenses and we pumped out massive AoE damage considering the +DMG toggles and the -RES debuffs. 3 Venom Grenades and 3 Surveillances came out to -120% resistance... not sure about the cap on that, but it really made a difference on AVs. (-60% for AoEs since Surveillance is single-target) -
Publicly? Not usually. My builds are not "uber", they just cater to my personal playstyle. If someone asks me to put together a build for them I'll do it if I know how they play and what they're looking to get out of the build.

If you want something a bit different from what you already have, try a Cold/Sonic defender & a Spines/Dark Scrapper. You could also try something like a duo of /Earth Melee Dominators. They do some damage on single targets and decent AoE at later levels.
I used to have a friend that I duo'd with for a while on my Empathy Defender, pretty much whatever he played became SUPER for 90% of the time, with the remaining 10% of the time he was just Super. Just wish I went with something besides /NRG on my Emp, but oh well. -
I can't believe /TA isn't getting more love.
-DMG, 2 -RES powers, a Hold, an AoE Slow with -fly, an immob with -fly, 2 -DEF powers, and a 'nuke' that acts as an AoE Hold and a -Regen that is still great for AVs. -
I also remember 'tanking' Ghost Widow on my FF defender for about 10 minutes once. She only hit me a couple times, I thought streakbreaker was going to kill me long before I died.

Ever had a streak of bizarre luck? It's not always good luck, sometimes it's downright terrible.
For instance the other day I decided to level up a mastermind (an archetype that I really do not care for) on a dare. I figured I'd level it up to around SO levels using AE. I toughed it out through some arcs and ended up at level 22 with 9,999 tickets right when I hit level 22. I left the map with the intent of purchasing a few random bronze rolls and maybe some salvage to sell. When I left the map I noticed some players asking for help in broadcast, they were new to the game and wanted some help getting to Grandville so they could purchase their jetpacks, having leveled past that mayhem mission.
They mostly got a stream of hate from anti-AE players calling them n00bs and other more unsavory things. Is it hard to get to Grandville? Nah, not particularly. Sometimes there's bad luck and sometimes you can get there almost immediately. These two were having trouble dodging swimming Luddites. I figured I'd use my Vet TP to get them to the ferry. Sent them tells, got them to the ferry, wished them luck.
I got back to AE to purchase my random rolls when I got a tell asking for a little influence, turns out they were told that Jetpacks were 1,000 infamy when they're really 10,000. I could tell them to go kill something - but they had a heck of a time just getting over there. I e-mail one of them 25,000inf and tell him to give half to his friend. They both send me tells to thank me.
I continue with my random rolls and got 2 Steadfast: Knockback Protections, 2 Steadfast: Res/Defs, a couple +Chance for Endurance from a set whose name I can't remember... Performance something-or-other I believe, and then a third Steadfast: KB protection.
I realize that that's a lot of Steadfasts, but it sure felt like Karma to me. -
I'm still waiting for the GR Complete Collection (pre-ordered it at GameStop) before I can make my DP character, but I was wondering on the duration and numbers on the damage debuffs on the powers. Mids lists it at 10% damage debuff but some of the players I was talking with say that you can't trust Mids for it and that it's 10% "maybe for Defenders" and only like 5% for Corruptors and only "for like 2 seconds".
My character is going to be DP/Thermal primarily for character concept but I was looking forward to the synergy of having -damage and nice resists. Is Mid's right and it's 10% for corruptors? And either way, what's the duration of the debuff?
I would go DP/Sonic but I plan on having a Sonic/DP Defender for over there anyhow. I also love Thermal's other buffs/debuffs. -
Quote:Hero-side:Ok, so here's the deal. I created a character a long time ago that I've played across multiple games. She is a mutant with psychic/telekinetic powers and very limited healing. I'm trying to find what class/power set combo would do this best for me. I spend most of my time soloing, with very little teaming up. I have an Emp/Psy Defender right now that is very boring to play solo. Is there a character that would work better for me?
Psychic/Mental Manipulation Blaster (w/Medicine)
Mind/Rad Controller
Mind/Thermal Controller
Mind/Empathy Controller
Grav/ Controller (this is more of a 'flavor' concept since many of the Gravity powers can seem like they are extensions of telekinetic abilities)
That's what comes to mind hero-side. There's others of course.
Villain-side:
Mind/Psi Dominator (w/Medicine)
Fortunata VEAT (w/Medicine)
Psychic/Pain Corruptor
Psychic/Thermal Corruptor
There's probably a few more options hero-side than villain-side, but I like the character classes in CoV just a little bit more... with the exception of the Defender.
