I can't say as I'm pleased with this. Task Forces/Strike Forces are going to be very, very frustrating.

On Freedom I'm always turning down team invites. I pretty much never play on pure PuGs anymore due to bad experiences, but I'm polite about turning down invites. Even though people rarely read my search comments since they clearly state that I will not join PuGs. Also, that's more of a reflection on me than on the people asking... I just don't like playing the game much anymore without friends. By and large, Freedom is friendly in my experience.

You want to see it all, huh?
Go to Cimerora. Hover over one of the girls in togas/skirts. Extend your camera as far out as it will go, then look straight up.
Some of them aren't wearing any undergarments if you know what I mean. Of course, those are the ones without crotches at all. -
I used to be so pissed off that I couldn't use "The Crimson Temptation" since that was for the character's concept and backstory. It was a continuation on one of my first characters when I rerolled him to make him a Warshade. I got so sick of the name I went with, "Cerise Impulse", that I rerolled him again but as a villain.

Well I'm not about to say that it can't be expensive, that's for sure
I think my build for my Cold/Sonic cost me ~900million, but that's only because I actually used merits to buy most of the non-purples and traded for most of the purples.
-
It doesn't have to be expensive, just depends on what type of character you have and what powers you took. I have about 2-3seconds downtime on my Bane's final build and there's not a purple in sight.

What do you do when you're bored in-game?
I know I can't be the only villain that high-fives Lord Recluse on the load screen with the little hand cursor.
Did you know that you can look up the skirts/togas of the lady NPCs in Cimerora? It's true. Hover over top of them, zoom out, then rotate your camera to look straight up. I originally did this for a weird joke but it totally works.
When I'm waiting for TFs to start up I'll often street-sweep mobs, but only ones that have NPCs at gunpoint/hostage. Then I try to outrun the grateful NPCs with only sprint, and still kill the next group of mobs. That way, when I get to the first mission door I have a horde of well-wishers. -
If you like the Archery set a lot you might like the Trick Arrow primary for Defenders. You can make a Trick Arrow/Archery defender and have a great time sitting back, debuffing the snot out of mobs, then helping kill them. Especially once you get your Rain of Arrows
Not to mention the Oil Slick.

On autofollow? Hmm.
Well, I'd likely run something like a Stone/SS-or-DB Tanker & a Fire/Kin controller. I guess.
If I want to have more fun I would likely have a Spines/Fire Scrapper & a Kin/Archery Defender. -

It's really hard to narrow it down past 'jerks', since that's where I saved most of my chatlogs. One instance that sticks out in my memory is the "Light RP" team I joined a while back on Virtue.
Quote:
I had just rolled up a new character - scrapper, I think - and leveled myself to 7 or so doing the normal starter missions. Someone was broadcasting as looking for more players for radio missions + safeguard, so I figured "Why not?". I messaged them, they sent back a tell: "((Do you mind light RP?))" I didn't think that I would. I was wrong.
To me, "RP" means "Roleplaying". It doesn't have to mean talking in Ye Olde English, it doesn't have to involve hobbits or cat-girls, it doesn't have to involve cybering.
Thankfully, this guy didn't have any of those foibles that I see all too frequently. He had a different one completely.
The leader of the team was a Tanker, level 10 I think. The rest of us were between levels 5 and 8. The majority of the team role-played to some degree, but the Tanker was downright annoying. Every group of enemies we would come to he would ask us to stop, form a line abreast, then wait for it....
(using the emote with a raised hand)
Wait for it....
(using the emote with a raised hand still, 5-6 seconds later)
CHARGE!
(using the point emote)
This got old fast, especially since he bound every attack and defensive power to a rotating group of quotes. Not just short ones, but some were a paragraph. Do you HAVE to quote a passage every time you punch someone? EVERY TIME? NO!
This sucked the fun right out of the gameplay and the majority of the team left under various excuses. I ended up telling him that his idea of "light RP" really wasn't too fun for me, and left. He was upset and messaged me in Tells asking what he did wrong. I explained that the constant stopping and "Wait for its" then coupled with the massive strings of quotes that scrolled the chat window so fast you couldn't see when someone was asking for heals, buffs, or help... it was too much. He then got angry because he thought I was telling him how to play. I told him I wasn't telling him how to play, but he shouldn't be surprised when other people don't enjoy his method of roleplaying as much as he himself does. -
One thing that annoys me but is not really a buzzkill is when people insist on gathering everyone for buffs. Yes, it's one thing to do so before you fight the big bad... but every 90 seconds? Seriously? Here's a thought : STAY TOGETHER. Then it won't frickin' matter when you throw one off.

Sound loops when I'm loading a new zone. For some reason I am very prone to them post-June. It got so bad one night that I started asking my friends in Vent to send me an empty tell just so the new sound would break the sound loop and I could load the zone.

How did you slot your attacks? I noticed a marked improvement in damage per second with my /Sonic over my /Ice by the mid-20s when I had my 3 main attacks slotted. When you get into your 30s and frankenslotting becomes really profitable you will see an even larger difference. At least, I did.
I know that my Cold/Sonic generally kills bosses faster than my Katana/SR scrapper does. I didn't really purple the characters out, either. I do have 2 Purple Sets on my Cold/Sonic but one is the sleep set and the other is the stun set. -
That day-long maintenance did sumptin.

If I remember correctly, Taunt is an auto-hit power. Meaning that every time you use it, it will hit everyone in the area up to the maximum number (8 or 12 or 16, I honestly can't remember). Provoke is not auto-hit, so you must slot accuracy in it.
Now, I'm not sure if Taunt works the same for Brutes as it does for Tanks... but I think it does. -
It's auto-hit as well, isn't it? I think Provoke still has an accuracy check.
-
So... are you advising them to pick Brutes that have Provoke instead of Taunt?

One other piece of advice:
Do not be afraid to start teams. You don't have to know everything about everything to start a team. -
A lot of people suggest Scrappers for first-timers, but I honestly don't agree with that if you're a seasoned MMO player. Why? Well, most other games have a sort of Melee DPS character. Yeah, it's easy to get into and easy to learn which is great for those just starting out with MMOs in general but I'm going to go out on a limb and give you a different suggestion:
Defenders/Controllers.
Why? Well, they really emphasize what is different about CoH than other games. You might feel as if you've been thrown into the deep end at first with lower damage and not a ton of defense... but you'll quickly see your characters role change and evolve as you level.
