Hello and welcome. Remember that anything that goes wrong here, it's VooDoo's fault.

Kid's baseball until 8:30 or 9 PST most nights. But give Hami a quick kick in the ... kick in the ...
hmmm
... in the jello for me. -

Gratz! Was attaching the real-world DE in my back yard all day. And I'll be so much more helpful the next raid I can make because now i've got my 42 month badge ... and assemble the team!
Wednesdays would be welcome but I'm a latenick, so how about a 9:30 PST start? Last two times we did a mid-week the zone filled up in about 10 minutes. -
It's just a summer fling!
Have fun, save lots of $, buy a kicka$$ computer and see us again soon. -
you used to get crafting credit for those. too bad they took that out. Could have been worth badges on a few characters.

Welcome and don't mind us, we're easily ... hey look, bacon!!!
Oh, where was I? Yes, we have a good, rather later playing population with more of a pacific time flavor than many other servers. For sheer numbers I think Virtue surpasses Freedom but Virtue has many role players (to a fault) and Freedom has many noob players and players unwilling to teach new players. In general, you won't find that here.
I don't have an overly active SG but have a few nice coalition members (and still can add 3 or 4 if anyone want to pick me up with an empty slot.) You are welcome to put a character in my SG to make a home, or until you find a home. No requirements on prestige. It's a homey base and we don't need lots of shiney stuff.
Red side can be hit or miss. Sometimes it has a great population, but others .... Of course with i17 coming with Demon Summoning, I think the first few weeks will be rather full of red siders. -
Quote:I want to clarify this rule a little bit more. You can absolutely tell a story about one of your in game characters and his/her life behind heroing/villaining or whatever you like. The goal is to use the words as real words and NOT say something like: My character Fighterxyz is a SCRAPPER with SPINES and REGENERATION powers who often teams with a BLASTER who uses ELECTRIC BLAST.
I hope that clarifies things a little better for people.

How about, "I was in school talking about my character Fighterxyz who is a SCRAPPER with SPINES and REGENERATION powers who often teams with a BLASTER who uses ELECTRIC BLAST"?
Probably not. -
Quote:If anyone else has any suggestions, I'd be interested to see them as well. The Isles need a few more ne'er-do-wells to make life more intesting.
The main reason is that villains still solo better than heroes and there isn't the need to team. So players get out of the habit red-side looking for a team to run better. Without the pure support class, like how many people play defenders, no one wants to fill that role. Who wants their corrupter to become the "healer", or the dominator responding to "SB plz" when those classes are self contained killing machines. -
I love Westin's arc. Beating up the Freaks and destroying their books, wonderful. It's Terrance's arc that is a downer for me. All those spiders.

One note on Star Wars, and this is all speculation since Lucas doesn't comment on this stuff, but Vader was destined to save the Empire but he couldn't do it alone, he needed Luke. Why? Luke was pure good and the Emperor was pure evil. In Lukas' world, only redemptive evil could overcome pure evil. Vader had to traverse the Dark Side so he could understand how to destroy it. (Or that is how I see it.)

Quote:If killing one person saves the world, is that a world worth saving?
Valor
Christians believe it is.
But even if your not a believing Christian, would you damn everyone to save a single life? Lot in the story of Soddom and Gamora argued to save the city if he could find ever decreasing numbers of rightous men. A similar argument is presented here. -

I think you should see a doctor about your pre-download problem. I understand there are perscriptions you can get that will help.

Agreed on snipers. They all deserve to be arrested.
In reading over the many, and good, replies, I'm struck by the fact that so many of them are just how Gentlemen were expected to behave in Victorian times and after. Helping others, selfless. If they added a "coat over mud" emote we would be all set.
This server has tons of helpful people. -
That first picture looks suspicously like Gel is checking to see if her deodorant hasn't failed from AV exposure.
Grats on the take down. -
off topic.

What! No Dominator? Slacker. -
The hami zones are capped at 50 but I believe all zones are capped at 100. I remember the wedding event in Oroborus could only have 100 players and something leads me to believe that might be the zone cap everywhere. (Couldn't find anything on wiki so I could be wrong there.)
I love this conversation, but it's starting to frustrate me that it doesn't seem to be sparking a solution, or at least I'm not seeing a path to a solution. I'll have to ruminate on this some more. -
Agreed GEL, but that mostly applies to firefighters, police, military, other quick-thinking people in emergencies. But what makes for a hero in this game?
Maybe I should have started with the comment that began my discussion. "There isn't anyone playing heroes anymore." My reply was blue-side is busy which lead to an agreement that there were plenty of players, but no heroes playing the game. Just because you play a tank, you run missions, grind xp and level, that doesn't really make you a hero.
Maybe another example might be in order. And this doesn't make me a hero player, just maybe something that others might find heroic. I was flying through Atlas on my emp defender to pay SG rent. I come out and head over to the Vanguard building and I see a group of lvl 1s & lvl 2s street sweeping, probably in advance of a sewer run. I followed them around for around 20 minutes buffing and healing them. I got nothing out of it other than a kick to help new heroes.
So maybe I should turn the question around. Not, what makes a hero, but, why aren't there more heroes and why doesn't this game make me feel more heroic? -
And let me start by explaining the three traits I listed.
Charity is easy. Do you give to others? That can include influence, but it could also include access. Offering others use of your base, regardless of their level or if you expect them to contribute prestige or not. It can also include coalitioning with others while they build their own base so they can use your teleporters, crafters, etc.
Time to organize, be it advertised TFs, PERC events, Hami. This is something I will never be able to help with since my available time to play is so limited, almost none on the weekends and usually only very late at night weekdays.
I believe that willing to help others is the biggest. Last two times I've played I've had high level teams /tell my lowbee tank saying they had an extra space and did I want to join. I didn't know any of the players in either team. Similar, I was running around steel and a lower team was advertising for spaces. I joined, even though I was much higher than everyone else because they needed help. -
It's more than just playing blue side.
I got in a long conversation with another player about what makes a hero. For them, they were getting frustrated because there were no heroes around any more. Players willing to drop what they were doing to help. Players willing to start teams and advertise mission arcs and badges. Sure, all these make for a "hero" but is it enough?
I've seen several threads over the years about random gifting. Seeing a lowbee character and dropping a lvl 50 enhancement on them and then leaving. Never looking for a thank you, just because you're helping out.
So, while these don't make a hero, IMO, they are endemic to those with heroic traits.
1) willing to help others without looking at the reward for yourself.
2) putting aside time to work to make things better for others.
3) Charity.
So what do you think makes for a hero? -
I have a stormy something collecting dust somewhere. Gotta blow the dust off her and see where I made my mistakes. (Probably not too many yet. I think she's only lvl 6 or 7.

Quote:And, yes Toril, slots are good. Does that mean when I hit 50 I won't age anymore?
Hope you had/are having a great day.
Actually, at 50, it means no more slots.or powers.
Or is it, no more power for slots?
Anyway, sounds like an Indian summer to me. (as in the country of India ... you know, turn up the temperature to 80 and run around the house in your underwear ... hey, it isn't my idea, it's that pervert Salman Rushdie's.)
