so I takd it permadom was never nerfed? (returning after a few years, so still catching up with the game changes).
that might make the difference between keeping or deleting my Plant/Thorn -
Thanks, I'll take a look. I'm trying to relearn the process of coming up with a build, so this kind of feedack is useful.
I like the idea of Gaussian in Targetting Drone, and is a set I missed (I must not have used Mid's right to find Def(Ranged) sets, I missed several of them). It does have very nice bonuses.
I see you took out the IntRed out of Aid Self too. Since I'm only rerturning to the game after a few years maybe my recollection is foggy, but I think I remember I used to hate Aid Self because it was so interruptible, and started loving it once I could use it in combat without worrying about using PFF (which you don;t get when exemplared).
Maybe a single IO is sufficient though, with the current 2 lvol 50 SO build I am still running, I can usually heal in between DoT ticks. I'll probably have to try it on test/beta
I use PFF a couple of ways, one is to turtle if I get too much aggro, I cna then regroup, heal, etc... in relative safety (especiallly useful when soloing)
I also use it after the FoN crash: pop a blue, toggle PFF, assess the situation, retoggle either immediately or wait for recovery to kick back in...
I'm not married to it but I certainly never thought FoN and PFF were at odds with each other.
Being a returning player, I have less than 30 mills to my name (but have most of the enh in my build) and probably can't slot multiple LoTR until much later, the one in my build is because I already have it (and hte steadfeat and the numina). a lot of the extra regen in your build comes from the 2 pieces of LotG
without the LoTG the difference in Nova rechg is almost 30s, but you do get a little more defense out of it. I don't use Nova all the time, but in the right missions or the right team I use it as soon as it's up, so it's a tossup.
I'll keep playing with it -
I think I've read something about that before but can't find the reference.
You'd think it would be called "chance for +toHit" if it acts as a proc -
no big deal depends on the user. it's too much to ask from my wife or my mom.
I rarely have to install dependencies on windows, although once in as while you run in some program asking you to install .NET or some VC library and you know what? I don't like it either. except people know to blame the developer/packager, not the OS. -
that's the point he's making, you had to maanually install the dependencies manually.
I love Linux but I'm a geek and I agree that it's still not as streamlined as windows for example.
of course the answer would be for ncsoft to provide a properly supported Linux version.
to expand on the car example above, it's like trying to install a GM factory radio into a Toyota car: some fiddling is required because the same radio was not offered natively for Toyota, but you can't really blame Toyota.
note that a number of Linux native/friendly maps go out of their way to make sure they install dependencies in windows. if you ever installed the Gimp in windows, it pulls all kinds of prerequisites automatically, but that's not because windows is better, it's because the people that packages the app cared. -
I'm wondering about Explosive Blast again. I rarely use the gun drone in teams, especially if I'm hovering since you can only spawn it close to the ground. I have how long it takes to get out, it's too interruptible to do in combat...
I do use it faithfully when soloing (which I prefer not to do but don't always play at times that make it easy to find teams)
The last time I used EB was pre-IOs and I wasn't impressed, but with a set of 5 Positron's blast (leave Dam/Range out) I get its damage to match Energy Torrent before even taking the proc into account, and get +6.5% a global recharge.
With regard to the alpha slot, I'm now thinking Musculature, after all Damage is what Blasters are all about. I figured I have enough opportunities to slot LoTGs and have some +Rchg bonus sets, so maybe I don't need the extra recharge in the alpha slot, even if I don't have Hasten.
I think I'll respec and play a while first, to get a feel of how my endurance is doing, maybe with that much recharge and the few toggles I'll need the extra end and have to go Cardiac instead. the extra range there wouldn't hurt either -
I unlocked my alpha slot and was wondering what kind of ability might best fit this build. do blasters go for +dmg? go for +rchg if I don't take hasten so Nova / FoN are up more (since I don't have a bunch of LotG +rchg
-
Thanks Rangle!
At least I always had EoJ
(papaschtroumpf=Myrtille) -
Hey all, I picked up the game back after a few years away and I'm trying to find out what the active channels are. There doesn't seem to be any traffic on the old Justice Badges channel and I tried to Justice for All and it told me I couldn't talk in that channel...
Things have been a bit boring trying to find teams, and I have done only on TF in the lat 2 weeks and would like to get introduced to the post i13 content, especially the incarnate stuff. I never really cared for PvP.
I have all my characters in my little tidy SG, convenient for storage, etc... so I'd rather not go the "join an SG" group and I'm not sure where to start getting in alliances.
Let me know if you have a few pointers. -
I use PFF as my "get out of jail free" card on my blaster: if I get too much aggro or otherwise get low on health, I pop PFF, then can heal self, pop insps, retoggle, etc... and jump back in the fight.
If I read Mid's right, the unslotted defense it provides is 52%
If the defense soft cap for a blaster if 45%, then slotting PFF for defense is basically a waste? -
Doh! I failed to see the def was mentioned twice.
I think what threw me off was that Mid's lists the base at 1.75%, so it already assumes suppressed Def (which makes sense actually)
still not clear on suppression when being attacked vs attacking, but I'm notgoing to worry about it.
OK, 1.75% base while attacking is worth taking the power for when going for maxed ranged defense. -
I went to RedTomax but wouldn't find my answer.
I did learn that you lose invisibility if hit (such as by an AoE, even though you weren't the target).
It also says your defense is suppressed when Attacked rather than when you are Attacking. not sure if that's useful info.
Still don't know if Suppressed means down to 0 despite the power description.
Self:
- +15 StealthRadius for 0.75s
Effect does not stack from same caster
- +389 StealthRadiusPlayer for 0.75s
Effect does not stack from same caster
Suppressed when Attacked, for 10 seconds (Always)
Suppressed when HitByFoe, for 10 seconds (Always)
Suppressed when MissionObjectClick, for 10 seconds (Always)
- +20 StealthRadius for 0.75s
Effect does not stack from same caster
Suppressed when Attacked, for 10 seconds (Always)
Suppressed when HitByFoe, for 10 seconds (Always)
Suppressed when MissionObjectClick, for 10 seconds (Always)
- DEF(All Types, Melee, Ranged, AOE) +1.75% for 0.75s
Effect does not stack from same caster
Suppressed when Attacked, for 10 seconds (Always)
Suppressed when MissionObjectClick, for 10 seconds (Always)
- DEF(All Types, Melee, Ranged, AOE) +1.75% for 0.75s
Effect does not stack from same caster
- Translucency +0.1 for 0.75s [Non-resistable]
Effect does not stack from same caster
Suppressed when Attacked, for 10 seconds (Always)
Suppressed when HitByFoe, for 10 seconds (Always)
Suppressed when MissionObjectClick, for 10 seconds (Always)
- Translucency +0.3 for 0.75s [Non-resistable]
Effect does not stack from same caster
I also want to make sure that Cloak stealth will stack with +Stealth IO for "complete" invisibility, for example while looking for glowies (will suppress on click of course), since it says Cloak doesn't stack with some other stealth powers like shadow fall. - +15 StealthRadius for 0.75s
-
My question is specifically about Cloaking Device in the Devices secondary, although I'm guessing it applies to suppression of defense from other powers too.
Cloaking Device has a 1.75% +Def(All) (about 2.75% when slotted for defense), but suppresses when attacking:
- does it go to 0% def when attacking? The power description says you are still hard to see and still get some defense, but I've learned a long time ago that the descriptions often sound better than the numbers behind them.
- how long does the suppression last? i.e. if I stop attacking, how long before I get full Def(All) benefit again? -
Makes me feel a little better.
At least it was nice to see he couldn't kill me either, we were just in stalemate, although in the end he would probably get me since I needed to pop blues after LF crash -
thx, I'll take a good look tonight. Off-hand I like what you did.
I started with full sets of Thunderstrikes in my original attempt but ended up breaking the rule-of-5. can't remember how now that I see this build though.
the T-strike bonuses don't kick in until the late game since they're in lvl50 IOs, but it's not like they were there in my original build.
I noticed you removed the interrupts from Aid Self, that makes it much harder to sue in combat, at least until you get PFF. With 2 IntRed you can usually sneak a heal between most DoT ticks.
I'm not in a financial position to afford multiple +Rchg LoTGs, I just came back to the game and my 15 millions from back then look like pocket change now. The uniques from my build are some I have from back then (probably payed less than 3 mill for the def/res Steadfast) but I think the build is not gimped without them and without Hasten, although I like FoN a lot and it won;t be up as often without Hasten.
I have a couple +Stealth IOs in storage so as long as they work with Cloak, I can go Fly rather than Speed, I also hadn't noticed Blessing of the Zephyr has +RangeDef also (probably expensive, especially the -KB proc, but I can work my way into it, and KB is somewhat mitigated by Hover).
Thanks this is very helpful. -
being more familiar with the mission and having played my WS a bit (I definitely was rusty on that one), I can see that it would actually have been pretty easy.
I got some help and it's not done.
My PB doesn't run any IOs to speak of, I never took the time to IOs him out properly (was working on other characters).
He does run a bunch of Hammis though, which is the other reason I didn't give him IO priority.
Here's the build as exported by Titan Sentinel. as you can see it's still a build with legacy stamina. He's on the list for a respec but I may wait till i21 and hte Kheldian changes.

I recently came back to the game, and I'm a bit rusty, but I see "bragging threads" about how people take down AVs with their Kheldian.
since I just came back to the game, I needed to unlock my alpha slot on all my 50s by running Ramiel's arc.
I soloed it with my blaster, didn't even try to solo with my WS (no corpses to help with trapdoor).
I was able to get through Trapdoor on my Dark/Sonic Defender but logged before the Lady Grey missions.
When I logged back on later, it was on my PB instead and I tried to do the arc but could get get through the Lady Grey mission with him.
Try as I might I couldn't get The Honoree down, his regen always gets the better of me, even with LF+Hasten(+Conserve Energy).
so how do you gets get AVs on your PB? do you get temp powers, shivans, etc...? -
I am taking Hover at lvl22 in my "current final" build. did you mean to say I need to make some adjustments to the build to make it more of a Hover Blaster? (such as additional slotting in Hover?)
-
Yes, I absolutely meant for the IOs in the "useless" powers to be low lvl like 20.
Quote:I got my info from the paragon wiki: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Exempl...n_Enhancements is it outdated?-I'm pretty sure you won't get the set bonuses (while exempting) from powers that your not able to have at the elvl.
In order to get the global bonuses from that lvl 44 power you'd have to be exempt to 39 or higher.
specifically I relied in the following text:
Set Bonuses are always on, even if the power in which the Set is slotted isn't activated, and even if that power is greyed out due to exemplaring! However, you do start to lose the bonuses if you exemplar more than three levels under the level of the IOs in the Set.
just like Set Bonuses, the power in which [globals] are slotted can be greyed out due to exemplaring and the Global will still work. However, just like Set Bonuses, the Global stops working when the character is exemplared more than three levels under the level of the Global IO.
So I get full bonuses down to lvl17. In fact I really meant lvl23 rather than lvl20, the idea being that I'd like to get the bonus even when I'm on a lvl20 TF. I'm not religious about it and would be OK with a lvl26 for example, especially if I can get it cheap, but I meant them not to be lvl40+
for the sake of completeness, the wiki also lists the rules for procs, which I don't use in this build except to complete a set:
All the other Special IOs are called 'Procs.' Unlike the Globals, Procs depend on the power they are slotted in to be activated in order to work. If the power isn't activated, then no benefit from the Proc. Consequently, exemplaring lower than the level of the power means the power is greyed out and can't be used (even passive powers follow that rule), which means the Proc won't work. However, the upside of Procs is that if the power is active, the Proc always work, even if you exemplar way below the level of the Proc. Procs don't follow the -3 level rule that Globals and Set Bonuses do.
-
I should have said "weak at the lower level" in the title to be fair.
OK, so my perception of the set was correct.
I think I'll keep player the Tank sine I'm the experienced player and keep sucking inspirations when the going gets tough. lvl10 in the hollows and nobody dies yet, so we're not doing to bad... -
With CoH/CoV now only $2, I got both kids an account so we get to play for 30 days before Freedom comes out (we'll see if we pay the $15 at hte end of the free 30 days, which is what NCSoft would like us to do
)
Anyway, we made a scrapper team, I mad a Kin/elec (I've never played either set) and the kids made a Claw/WP and a Katana/SR
The kid's health bar stays pretty high (we just got to lvl10 in the hollows), but I find that without insps I'd be biting the dust pretty often.
Is Electric Shield that much weaker at low levels? I was expecting the younger kid with /SR to be the one struggling.
Now I have to admit I am the one also playing more aggressive, usually doing the pulling and I have Lightning Field on a lot so I'm the team's "tanker", but it just doesn't seem to explain it.
My previous experience with scrappers was /WP and I remember it being very good. -
Thanks for the answers
>I wouldn't skip Temp Invul just because yer going for defense...but really, PvE is easy so nothing is required
I can't figure out a way to take medicine (that I like) without dropping it or losing the bonuses
>I wouldn't take any rez power
I just wasn't sure what I'd take at 50 with a single slot. still not sure -
So this is the build I talked myself into over the last few hours, let me know what you think (I didn't reprint the bonuses, they're essentially the same as in the original post)

Lol, I'm good about answering my own thread
one more thought:
Temp invulnerability maybe is not so useful since I'm going for defense?
My current build has the medicine pool and I like it, really makes soloing more comfortable (especially once you have your bubble, you can take a quick timeout to heal).
I still want FoN, it's too good to pass up, so I was thinking:
Get rid of Explosive Blast, I've never taken it because it looks anemic based on the numbers, I also have no important bonus slotted in it.
Take Aid other instead (can I heal my turret?)
Get rid of Taser and take Aid self instead, 6-slot it, 5 heals (probably Doctored wounds or maybe straight IOs, I can't afford a full set of numinas) plus one interrupt reduction.
at 44 take repulsion bomb and slot it with eh low level Stupefy I originally had slotted in Taser. This gives me my second prerequisite for FoN, so I can take it at 47
can't take Recall Friend at 50 anymore, can't get more than 4 pools, so 1-slot resuscitate.
Slot FoN with 3 reactive armor and a rechg to regain the small Ranged Def bonus from reactive armor that was lost from Temp Invulnerability.
One less toggle, self-heal, and no change to Def(Ranged). Probably worth losing the Smash/Lethal resistance from Temp Invulnerability. -
I forgot Hover has a defense component. if I slot it with a lvl50 Def IO I get to 39% Ranged defense (instead of 39.1% with the Leaping pool)
So the only reason to go leaping would be for the Mezz protection, but I think the downside are too severe, especially no Hasten.
