That's only kinetics. Rads heal doesn't need to hit, and FF and sonic are basically team support sets. Empathy is, as you say, boring (and you are expected to prop up all the lousy PUGs).

Well you only get 1 extra single target hold, plus the nuke-hold at 38 which wipes your endurance.

Purple Sprite is more of a Blastoller really and solos as effectively as teams (and can also PvP). I don't have anything from the healing pool, I'm proud to be NOT A H3410R.

Try Grav/TA for a more uber-support-controlling controller.

I play Illusion/TA (L32), its a great paring, now what what the question?

Oh yes. I am going to write a guide to TA as a controller secondary, but I am holding of till I get to level 38 and have tried all the powers.

Ice arrow is the mainstay, I have 2 single target holds. I have it slotted with 2 acc and 3 hold duration.

Also very effective is disruption arrow, but I always make sure I have the mobs held before I use it as it draws arrow.

Flash Arrow is great but invisibility powers can leave it a little obsolete.

Poison Gas sucks (its actually bugged).

Its best to string arrow powers together then illusion powers so you do not have to redraw your bow too often.

Hardly anything left of NB or Regen if you took all of those pool powers then. You avoided being gimped by not taking the powers.

BTW did you slot CJ for defense?

well it would be, since nether of them are defence sets*.

*the stalker gets a little defence from hide, but the scrapper gets none at all.

So are you saying that a regen stalker can regenarate as fast as a regen scrapper? Because if you are you are just wrong.

Acording to your sig you play a MA/regen stalker. [sorry, not true] MA enables you to knockdown or stun your oponent, giving you a chance to regenarate. I play an NRG/regen stalker so I can stun my targets and regenerate. Spines has the ability to slow.

The only defense NB has is the parry ability, wich is only really effective WHEN COMBINED WITH OTHER +DEF POWERS. Hence, NB when combined with Regen is a bit gimped.

Advice to the original poster: Take Air Superiority. Aim to get Weave.

Take a NB/Regen Stalker. But them in a box with a Katana/Regen Scrapper. Have them controlled by players of equal skill. Result? Easy victory for scrapper.

This proves nothing, however now thake a NB/SR Stalker. Put them in a box with a Katana/SR Scrapper. Result? difficult victory for stalker.


This is nothing to do with "how they play" it is a simple matter of number crunching, based on regeneration rate (and healing, and dull pain) being based on MAXIMUM HP, which a stalker lacks.

No, you missinterpreted my remark.

1) I was talking specificaly about NB+Regen
2) I used the phrase "bit of a gimp" not "a gimp"
3) This was hyperbole (exageration used for effect)
4) It is a matter of fact, not opinion that SR is stronger than Regen in PvP. You have been able to PvP successfully with Regen. This does not prove that you wouldn't have done even better with SR.
5) Why are you so desperate that people should play regen stalkers that you think information should be concealed from new players? I probably have the only level 32 Illusion/TA controller on Defiant. I like being unique.

Well it wasn't intentional, I was just pointing out that NB isn't quite so bad when combined with a +Def set.

I have PvPed with a regen stalker, but there is really no need, its all there in the numbers, but I really don't see why you are so defensive about it. If you PvP successfully with a Regen Stalker it must be down to skill. Surely its better to be a skilled player than have the strongest build?

One of the reasons people come to the forums is to get advice on builds. Do you think we should all go "shush, don't tell anyone regen is weaker than SR in PvP, it's a secret"?

And Intergration is no good if you get detoggled, and it doesn't defend against stun or slow. I don't think it gives you +perception either, but I could be wrong about the last.

Well, in a sense Regen Stalkers have already been heavly clobbered with the nerf bat, since they suffer from all the nerfs inherited from regen scrappers.

Ah, well that is what regen can do, but a Stalker who has to resort to scrapping is already in a weakened position.

Basically, the weakness of regen is because it was designed as a scrapper set. Regen rate is based off maximum hp, wich is considerably lower for a Stalker than for a Scrapper, thus the stalker regenerates significantly fewer hp/s than a scrapper. This is compared to a defense set, which gives the same value (actually stalker gets more because of hide). If you are not hit it doesn't matter if you have fewer hp. Defence based sets are also better for status protection, and click status protection cannot be detoggled.

However my intention was to warn new stalkers that NB/regen could be a tough choice, not "have a go" at existing brave regen stalkers. Granted gimp is an emotive word, and used in the context of hyperbole. Would you prefer "NB/Regen may not be your strongest combination of powers for PvP"?

I said it was a bit of a gimp, not a total gimp.

Player skill is certainly an important factor, but take that away and you are left with SR as by far the strongest Stalker set for PvP, and Regen the weakest.

Combine that with Ninja Blade, which you havn't even tried to suggest isn't the weakest PvP choice, and you are left with a character that is significantly weaker than others with the same AT.

Sure, play it, but for the added challenge.

I think thats just it. You where playing a Regen Stalker just after CoV was released, when the heroes had no idea how to counter OMG Stalkers!!!!

There are increasing numbers of Blasters in PvP zones with Stalker killer builds and tactics.

What about the one shotting though? You are just walking hidden through SC when out of the Blue some Blaster with tactics hits Build Up, Aim, Sniper and you are dead without any chance to regen. At least with SR, Ninja or Energy the Blaster is less likely to hit you.

The change is to how hit probability is calculated, so it affects any player defense buff or debuff and any mob accuracy buff or debuff.

It will, however, not affect PvP.

Being sneeky and attacking when its unexpected is something every stalker can do. Its the other stuff that NB/Regen can't do (and they are not even as good at being sneeky, since they have lower aoe defence, making stealth easier to suppress with aoe powers).

And have you noticed Blasters have started taking tactics?

For PvE Regen is at least as good as the other others (until issue 7, which will make SR significantly better against AVs).

I have a regen stalker. I use him mostly in PvE. I have been one-shotted by blasters quite often in PvP.

Because you can be easily one-shotted by a blaster?

Because you have no defense against pbaoe toggles?

Because in a 1 on 1 a regen scrapper will both out regen and out damage you?

The only change to SR defence will be a reduction in aoe protection. The isse 7 changes simply mean defence will scale propery so it is more effective against higher level and higher ranking mobs.
