Quote:Keep in mind, you have to fill all the reward token slots in tier 7 (which is 27 tokens total) to unlock permanent access to the invention system....not just get into tier 7.Of these the tier 3 account should be the one active through the head start period (I'll apply Going Rogue to it), and I'll want to create a character there, but with the obvious caveat that it will never use any IO's after going Premium, unlike characters on the tier 6 account which might one day get to tier 7 and unlock IO's.

Quote:I can definitely confirm this. I sent in a support ticket on it right after it happened yesterday, figuring it probably wouldn't matter but why not...and this afternoon got a response back and they had undone my screw up and added the recipe back to my toon's inventory for me! Whew...stupidity side-stepped, lol. That's some great customer service there. To the people accidentally vendoring stuff:
If you send in a support request with the name of the character, the server, the item (as exact as possible, I.E., a [Level] [Set] [Bonus Types] Recipe and the approximate time of your error, they should be able to help you with item recovery (note that this does have a 'statute of limitations' per se... it's best to do it immediately if you expect any kind of result. Otherwise you're pretty likely to get a 'we can't go back that far into the data logs' response). -
For scrappers, I have a katana/regen that was great for soloing as I leveled and even now at level 50.

Quote:Like some others said, you can do all that AND use attacks. Keyes may be one thing, but for most missions at the higher levels, there's not even that much buffing and healing needed on a good team. But 'yes', I am worthless to my team because I choice to get my Fortitude off every 15 seconds, Adrenalin Boost every 78 seconds and my auras every 133 seconds. Of course that is while flying, and casting Heal Other, Clean Mind, or using my Healing Aura when necessary. Not even counting Resurrect, cus most folks when straight too the hospital before I could even get in range.
The biggest thing is though, that no one would probably complain about having you on their team if you were using all those buffs like that. However, for every person with a "healer" build for an emp that uses all of their buffs like that, I see 10 "healer" emps who never use Fort, AB or CM. If they do at all, it's when everyone is about to enter or just enters the mission and never again. They may fire off their RAs when everyone enters the mission and then you never see the RAs again. Instead, all they do is run around with HA on auto-fire and use HO. Those are the people who give emps a bad name. -
I always found it to be a situational power on my bubbler. As teams race and fast-forward through missions, I'd often end up stuck with a boss or lt. that all the melee people ignored at the back of the team. So I'd use Force Bubble to push those guys back up into the herd with the rest of the mobs. Or if you're getting beat on, it can be a good defensive power to get someone off you. Every once in awhile, you'll have a good situation to pin some guys in a corner. But it's definitely not something I would just run with on all the time. Can't see running through an entire mission with it on unless it was an all squishy or ranged team or something. Like you said, it would be more counter-productive to the team to do that. Detention Field is pretty much useless on a team too. You've got a guy standing around out there that no one can kill...generally not a crowd-pleaser when it comes to teams either, lol.

Quote:That is an excellent idea. Also I'm thinking that gifting items from the story, including the points/status you would have got from the purchase. That way, your friend can sign up, and you can send him 400 points so he won't be on a noob account anymore. That I think would be a huge deal for getting new blood in.

Oh yeah, won't be too bad. Already have 1 alignment merit and a decent amount of astral merits and reward merits so I'll get it back without TOO much effort. It's a little bit of a domino effect though as I'm trying to rebuild a few other 50s so I have plenty need of several LOTG +rech, etc. Not a big deal though. Was just a little disappointing to space out like that because it was the last one I needed for the respec I'm doing on my main toon and I was kind of excited to finally be ready to do the respec. Had to admire my brilliant economic strategy too....buy a recipe for 65 mil and flip it to a vendor for 5k....gonna try to deduct that loss on my taxes, lol.

It can still feel like a grind sometimes in the post level 32 range, no matter what you do...but you can certainly minimize that time based upon some of the very good suggestions in this thread. I rolled a new toon on double XP weekend that is up to level 48 already despite playing my main more often. Having come back to the game recently after being gone for awhile, I have noticed (at least on Freedom) though that all of the post-30 zones like Bricks, FF, PI, etc. have a LOT less people than they used to. I try to team up as much as possible with this new toon and it can be hard to find a team sometimes. Since AE, you've got a lot of power levelers that don't use the traditional routes to level. You've also got a bunch of people spending time on the incarnate stuff. I remember I used to be able to step out of the train station in Bricks or FF and always find a team within a couple of minutes. Now, I may go into one of those zones and there will be only a handful of people in the entire zone.
In addition to joining TFs, you also might have more luck joining up with a team in the 20s and exemping down....if your goal is to get to 50, then you probably won't mind having some of your later powers unavailable when exemping if you can get on big teams more often...and you'll find teams more easily in the 20s in Talos. If I'm having trouble finding teams, I'll switch to my main...but if I see a big team forming or in need of people, then I'll just send a tell and ask if they mind if I switch to an alt to join up with them. Pretty much everyone won't have a problem with that. That way, I take advantage of opportunities to get on full teams when they are around, but I'm not sitting around waiting for teams or having to grind through solo missions to pass the time. Also, if I end up on a really bad PUG, then I just excuse myself at the end of the current mission and go elsewhere. Don't think it's cool to bail on teammates mid-mission. But if it's a bad team that is team-wiping for whatever reason, then I'll move on to something else after that mission is over. It's amazing how much time can be wasted on just 1 mission with a few teamwipes...waiting for people to hosp, re-zone, re-group, etc. If the team is using bad tactics, you've got a squishy tank, or whatever it is...then that problem won't go away and you'll certainly be grinding with a team like that. -
Quote:Omg, that's classic. The team chat rant is the icing on the cake, lol.Not as bad as standing at the exit part of the train station ranting in team chat about how lag is messing with the damned trains.
I like that.....that's going to be my new system now....never again, lol -
Quote:Yep, and the genius of it is that if you can level your free toons up to level 50 and play most of the content, then many people will get attached to those toons and want to make them incarnates, improve their builds with sets, etc.No.
While interesting those are not the reasons for the change of model. The primary reason it to dangle a shiny lure out to get people to try the game. And if they don't subscribe then to lure them into buying things anyway from the Paragon Store. That is the primary reason for the change of model. It is all about adding new VIP accounts not about attracting and keeping Free or Premium accounts. -
Since I returned to the game last month, I've been trying to upgrade the builds on a few of my old level 50 toons while simultaneously leveling a brand new toon to 50 with a good build including a few purple sets. It's taken a lot of work and finally purchased the last recipe I needed to respec my main toon and swap in the new sets: an Obliteration: Acc/Dam/Rech/End for 65 mil. It was all the influence I had left except enough to craft the recipe. I was all excited to finally have everything done to re-do the build on my main toon. Left WW, ran to the nearest store to dump my SOs and recipes from drops that weren't worth anything at WWs, got distracted for a second as I was quickly selling everything off and.....sold the Obliteration recipe that I just bought.....DOHHH, complete brainfart, lol. Guess it had to happen sooner or later....frankly, can't believe I made it through 15 months of gameplay without ever doing this before.

Quote:I didn't forget anything...and, besides, the servers have been running fine for 4-5 days. Just expressing an opinion that I think people are justified to be frustrated that they can't copy toons onto the test server to beta-test. Whether people pay to beta-test or not, when you invite your customers to beta-test it kind of implies that they are going to be able to access the tools necessary to do so...plus, it defeats the purpose of your beta-testing if your customer access isn't reliable. I don't think anyone believes they are just ignoring the situation....stuff happens....but that doesn't mean people are just absolved of responsibility for problems with their website just because they don't want the problems to exist. What your saying is logical but you forgot that last week the servers all decided to systematically take a dump, leaving the copy tool to the lowest of priority.
It's not a big deal either way, but some long-time vets may just assume that everyone has a dozen level 50 toons on the the tester server with a ton of influence. I've played off and on and have 15 months in total on the game but I've never used the test server. So I've got several level 50s but none of them are on the test server. I could try to have them level a new toon up for me on the test server but the toon would have no enhancements or influence so not really worth it for all the stuff I'd like to test with enhancement boosters, unslotters, etc.
Frankly, I'm a little surprised by your post. I realize your mock "threats" of quitting were just jokes, but looking back in the thread and leaving those comments aside, you've had the most posts in this thread complaining about the copy tool not working. -
Well, it IS kind of counter-productive to have the copy tool down during beta testing. If you already have a bunch of toons on the test server, not a big deal. But for someone like me, I've never used the test server before and I'd like to beta test stuff but can't do it without making a brand new toon. I'd like to test out the enhancement boosters and unslotters and stuff like that but I'm not going to build up a new toon from scratch to do that. Obviously, they want as many people beta-testing as possible so you'd think they'd also want to ensure full access to the system as it's intended to be accessed, which means being able to copy your toons to the training server.

I believe the smallest purchase for Paragon Points is $5.00 from what I've seen posted on the subject.
-
Unless the pricing changes, you'd be looking at approximately $2 per month (in the Paragon Market) to access the invention system so you could use your IOs. You'd need 27 reward tokens to unlock lifetime access to the invention system.

Thanks! Definitely. Just had about 3 sets that gave more of a positional bonus than type bonus. Switching them to sets that gave more of a type bonus and moving a couple of slots around on defensive powers got me roughly an extra 11% on lethal and smashing, an extra 6.5% on Psionic, and an extra 4-5% on the other types. Feel a LOT better about my survivability now, lol.
-
Re-working some builds on toons after returning to the game from a long lay-off and just want to make sure I'm understanding something correctly. On any particular type of attack, the highest defensive rating between the type and positional ratings will apply, correct? So if it's a lethal damage ranged attack and my lethal defense is 25% and my ranged defense is 15%, then I'll have a 25% defense to the attack.
I have a tank that has all significantly higher type defenses as opposed to positional defenses. So I should re-work set bonuses to drop any positional defense bonuses and maximize type defensive bonuses since my positional defenses aren't even applying, is that right? -
Quote:Ok, then is there some problem with dropping the Celerity into Sprint and giving yourself invisibility with Sprint + Shadow Cloak if you need it?Stone already suggested using Vengeance as the last place for an LOTG, he saw it and said thanks.
And if that's the case and Grant Invis was only a mule, then he doesn't need it if he takes Vengeance as a mule. He's still got Perma Hasten without Grant Invis and the difference on recharge for fluffies is negligible and he gains a power back. If he intends to use Grant Invis and not just use it as a mule, then different story. -
Quote:Yeah, probably, but he could keep Grant Invis, drop the Invis and still have a perma Hasten build (119.1 sec recharge on Hasten according to his build on Mid's without Invis)...then throw the Celerity Stealth in Sprint. Now he's still got Perma Hasten, he's still got Grant Invis for pets, he still has invisibility through Sprint + Shadow Cloak (and better invisibility than Invis grants) and he now has one extra power he can take.Pretty sure the Invisibility Pool is there for LOTG Mules. Grant Invisibility can also be useful for Extracted Essences.
The difference on his recharge for fluffies without the extra LOTG mule is negligible if he goes that route. 74.7 seconds instead of 73 seconds with his Perma Hasten. -
Quote:If you put a Celerity Stealth into Sprint, then you'll basically have invisibility if you run Sprint and Shadow Cloak at the same time and that will get you 2 powers back there - Grant Invis and Invis. You can't run Invis and Shadow Cloak at the same time and Invis gets you 55 feet of stealth. Sprint with Celerity Stealth in it plus Shadow Cloak gets you 65 feet of stealth though.Thank you.
It's ideas like that, that I want / need to be informed of. I know this update is mostly for PB's. I like to change with this times and this is a good excuse to question about my build. I rarely inquire about anything here. So Knowing what possible tweaks I might want to consider for the future is what I am after.
And honestly with my current build I rarely die, however in saying that I gauge my play style on playing to my weakness first, and my strengths second all and in between.
I'd second everything Stone said too. I guess it depends on your playstyle but you seem pretty light on attacks. If you can get slots back from Grant Invis, Invis and Acro, then consider maybe taking Quasar. I know it's no Nova, but if you're running Unchain Essence and then Quasar after Sunless Mire on big spawns, especially if you've got any teammate damage bonuses, then you can do some pretty good damage. With your end recovery powers, you can deal with the subsequent end crash pretty easily. Or you could take Dark Detonation for a more frequent attack. Quasar is pretty situational.
If you like control powers, you could take Gravimetric Snare, put a Chance to Hold proc in it, and add a slot to Gravity Well and put the Lockdown Chance for +2 mag hold in that, and those work pretty nicely together when stacked to give you some nice lockdown control on a single target. -
Well maybe the former.....maybe. But definitely not the latter, lol. This was literally within a minute or two of me joining the team and the "charge" instruction came just inside the first mission door before any action had taken place. Perhaps he was just looking for vengeance bait, haha.

Do you know if there are any plans to change that with Issue 21? I've also got a lvl 50 WS that I'm dusting off and wondering if there even be a reason to wait on a respec for that toon.
-
Great! Thanks for the info! That's how I was reading the info I found on Paragon Wiki. But it's obviously a long road there and back for my defender as you noted, so I wanted to make sure I could respec when I get back as a hero and have access to those patron powers before I started down that road.
-
Just getting back into the game recently after being gone for awhile. Planning on dusting off some of my 50's. I'm wondering if I run tips and alignment missions and switch a lvl 50 hero to the red side, will I be able to do the arc to unlock patron powers and then run a respec to substitute patron powers in place of my ancillary powers even though I'm already at lvl 50?
-
Quote:Exactly. I've only been back for about a month and was gone before Going Rogue launched so hadn't seen the Super Stunners until recently and, like you, they only stood out to me because of the annoying instant self rez. The funny thing was, everyone else barely went after these guys and everyone would start moving on even though they were going to self-rez. So I'd end up slowly killing these guys twice when I could have been doing my real job as a controller of crowd control, mitigating damage and locking down multiple bosses and lts.People are afraid of Super Stunners?
The only reason I even noticed them was because of the instant self rez! Definitely sounds like the leader was coming from another game and had zero clue how things worked in CoH (being an emp that didn't use the good powers in empathy is a dead give away!).
