Quote:I am talking when the only one that want him to herd is the tank. We got a whole team that isn't having any trouble with chaining mobs, I try not to be the one adding in mobs, but the tank is mad cause he has no purpose anymore other then to take aggro. As they should. The team wants to play a certain way and you aren't working with them. I'd kick you for that kind of behavior.
I do feel sorry for tanks cause pre GR in most cases a scrapper can do a tanks job decently and faster. And when you have a team of 3 scrappers you got enough extra pusdo tanks to not have to worry about getting mobs in one little group. -
Wow this thread makes me all fuzzy inside. As a player who loves redside more and tries to steam roll blue side I see this stuff alot. Been with people I know that are playing with a tank and trying to herd and getting mad when I won't let them. Dude if I am on my ill/kin controller there is only 1 speed, never stop for anything. Tank was trying to tell me your going to die man without anything to tank. Then I drop my PA and go does it look like my pets are having any trouble. Oh that and some of my scrappers are for tanking, hello Dark/elec scrapper.
And I don't mind dieing good thing that is learned from redside, people blueside whine every time they die ugg. My elec/elec blaster is going to die and die alot big deal and quit complaining about me dieing.
And no no as far as MMs go I see people that don't edit there attack my target to remove the aggressive. And they keep them on aggressive all the time. I try and educate them and what do I get screaming and yelling. Oh and I do use my Heel for those times when you need a lease or when you want to run through somewhere.
And you know what would suck on so many levels being a MM in a safeguard. Dude it is so boring. Just want to kill something. But nooo I have to protect stuff and run here and there. -
Question is what were you using to detect the memory leak?
Also AA might be a big culprit. AA in any game sucks up a lot of resources. And is for most cases the first thing to have a memory leak.
As for me. I have only been having trouble when in Pretoria. Lately I have been having my powers lag when in Pretoria. I go to use a power and it takes a second for it to actually work or it takes a extra click. I haven't been noticing any visual lag really. Just lag with power execution.
Hope someone can give you help or ideas? -
Yeah this is the problem with Electric Control. It controls really really good. But that is about all it can do. Your damage is supposed to come with Gremlins but that is way up there in lvls. It is painfully long to kill stuff. Not that risky but man I haven't had a toon that had it this hard to kill before. My rad/rad corr made for only teaming kills faster with no attack chain, though she also dies easier cause she can't stop them from killing her.

Quote:Hey hey I never said you can buff PA i know that quite well. And yes almost none of the debuffs will help your pets. This is what he said.Several other sets provide very good debuffs but no Recharge buff. Kinetics provides the Recharge buff, but no debuffs.
I was saying the statement Kin doesn't debuff was false. And he stated that Kin only debuffs recharge. People keep saying it doesn't cause they forget. Sorry for ranting on it. And sorry Local Man for being harsh. Just the other day there was that guy who said Kin was pointless and weak and I guess my mind thought back to that. Sorry misplaced correction. -
Quote:It isn't surprising really. Since you can't get support for XP anymore. And Vista blows so Win7 is the only Option if your going windows. For me it sucked cause I had to format once then I realize bleep my old copy of XP won't authenticate anymore. So I had to buy win7 because of a bleepin virus, and a bunch of hard ware cause window7 doesn't like what i had. not because it was too low no it just won't work, grr. Also just to add the Creative Console Launcher is still in its beta from the Creative people.
For those of you familiar with the X-Fi cound cards and their software, the Creative Console Launcher had 3 modes in which you could switch to. Entertainment, Audo Creation (which gave you tons of tweak buttons), and gaming mode.
On my XP system I used to keep in gaming mode all the time and switch to entertainment for music, movies, and what-not.
Now with my Win7 64 bit X-Fi card I just get the Entertainment mode in the Creative Console Launcher and that is all. I would guess that is what Alchemy is suppose to replace. Alchemy actually to me seems to do nothing.
Lets hope this gets fixed. COH was one of my favorites for its sound.
I was caught between computers thinking I just had to upgrade my sound. It is ok though because I am used to X-Fi over what my new pc has, 7.1 Realtek on-board sound. I would have eventually upgraded anyway.
I get a sort of 3d sound when I run COH in Windows XP service pack 3 or 2, but it is not the sound I am used to out of my other card directionally. It is more of a headphone 3d sound.
And with doing this two things happen. I am on an Alienware computer and the game supports AlienFx, that is the colors change on the keyboard, mouse, and computer when you are a hero (white), praetorian, (light blue), and villian (red). The colors do not change and freeze randomly while in XP service pack 3 or 2. AND my game always crashes when I go to exit, which I see has happened to others as I have read above.
It needs a real fix and a message that pops up for us when it does get fixed.
Its ironic just how many hard-core gamers have adopted Win 7 64-bit as their gaming OS and how many games currently do not run on it correctly the way they should. -
Quote:Um wrong kin might not debuff like Rad can but it does debuff alot. It debuffs regen, recovery, recharge, damage, and a couple others can't remeber. but every power you use on a enemy actualy debuffs them. And if you actualy look at it it debuffs them pretty good. Nothing like throwing down you heal and then come to find out the guy isn't regening any health, well not that much. The positive about Ill/Kin? With Siphon Speed you CAN stack buffs up to three times, giving you 60% Recharge . . . but it isn't all that easy to do it and you need foes handy to siphon off of, and you have to hit.
The negative? None of your awesome Kinetics buffs will buff Phantom Army. To improve the Army, you need Resistance and Defense Debuffs on the foes since PA cannot be buffed other than what is slotted in the power. One of the main reasons Illusion/Radiation is so popular is that Rad is the only secondary that provides BOTH a recharge buff and debuffs for Resistance and Defense. Several other sets provide very good debuffs but no Recharge buff. Kinetics provides the Recharge buff, but no debuffs. The buff from Siphon Speed, however, can be more than the Recharge buff from AM if you stack it. -
They do stack. I bet it has to do with the fact that it does both. That and how it works on the body. Probly shares the slot with SS and SJ

Quote:It might have been me. But I said Pain and Emp are simular but different. which they are. I you want to have something like pain go empathy. I won't be the same but it will be alot simular. Emp isn't worse just different. Though I suggest playing a defender is you want to try out empathy. To be honest Elec under 30 kills slow and can be boring. Nothing can kill you and you don't have trouble with them it is just the fact is that it takes forever to kill something.I have thoroughly confused you it seems. You reinforced that Pain is not at all the same as Empathy. Previously I complained about how I wish I could have pain. Someone said "Go Empathy" its like pain.
Someone previously suggested that and you have now proved it not the case. My experience with Empathy (already have pain on MM) has also proven your point is valid.
Follow me?
I don't know what Mids does, but I believe I am fine without it. Unless it puts me on some test server with a level 50 to try my powers on a test target, I doubt I would use it. But thanks for the suggestion.
I actually enjoy rolling alts (usually). So I don't mind re-rolling at 20 or less. I certainly am not unhappy with my Elec/emp performance. Just not what I hoped it would be like.
Still a very solid build. I hate to boast but I think there are many instances where my presence ensured the team to steam roll. So its a corner stone for a lot of teams. Just very dull... ....again i say VERY dull. =) -
-
I have been doing fairly good keeping shiphon speed 3 stacked. I can almost perma hasten. Which lends alot to making PA perma. And it isn't super expensive to perma PA not as kin

Quote:Hmm sorry I thought it was one of the ones that was. Well good luck getting it. It is okay but meh I am just to lazy to use it. Plus it makes you feel like your moving slower. Sprint has the advantage of tricking your mind into thinking your toon is moving faster. It's been said but I'll say it again Prestige Power "Slide" is not a vet reward. You get other versions of sprint with the sparkles and such. Same running animation though. Only that one way to get the "slide". Which I would love. By buddy has it and he knows the fact that I can't buy it bugs the heck out of me. Heh heh.

Quote:What the heck is that supposed to mean. No I am not one of those. The point with ninjas is that your have to force it to do what you want since the AI sucks. Atleast with other MM primaries the AI isn't pathetic. Ninjas are great but there AI sucks. I am just telling the guy ninjas are probably not the best idea to play with at first. You're not one of those Scrappers that gets mad that an enemy runs away and you have to chase it, are you?
Just like I can say Dark Armor isn't the best idea to play first time around. There are some sets that arn't newb friendly. And there are some combinations that are that way too. Just like there are some combinations that are so good and easy that screams Win. -
And a special pack back in the day like the boosters. But it was a bit different if you bought it you go shipped a box with all the extra goodies and the code to add to your account. it was $20. That is how I got it. You can't get it anymore though. Best way to get it is search the internet for the Collectors edition of CoH. They are insanely cheap. But it is also a vet reward so I almost wouldn't bother about it and just pay and play then you will get it fairly soon.
-
Yeah seriously. Even more so if you have a bot/ff mm around why the heck can you complain when your not being attacked and you are soft caped defense. Just one guy means you don't have to IO yourself out to get to soft cap, well fairly close. Having a bot/ff is like turning on easy mode, which is why people hate to play them. Yeah I love mine when I just don't want to think anymore.
-
Quote:No it is called if anything runs away just a bit they like to just sit there and throw shurikens. The point is that the AI for ninjas is the worst of them all. Bots can be stupid in run in but atleast then in range isn't a bad thing. For necro you only have to micro when you want to and with all pets you need to remember to leash them by keeping a eye on them so they don't chase them. They require a single goto command. If that's consideriing micromanaging, then so is everything else in the game.
Yeah, you can't walk around with them on defend/follow and just do everything on autopilot.......welcome to playing CoX. Somehow every other AT manages to walk around and press buttons. I'm sure you'll one day get a handle on it, too.
On another note yes I put them on defend/follow then when I see mobs I tell them where to go then tell them to attack. I never repeat never tell my pets to go aggressive. Aggressive is pointless in this game bodyguard only works while your on defensive. -
Quote:Um dude I know that quite well. I micro the heck out of them. The point is Ninja require you to micro them. Cause the AI is so dumb it would sit back at range though the devs have fixed it a bit. Bots can be about the same way but bots are ranged and are very powerful. Ninjas are like me ADHD and squishy, if they get hit it hurts bad. The reason also that I need more micro is the fact that I picked Trick Arrow. Micro intensive pets + Micro intensive secondary= lots of micro. But then I have alot of MMs. And for the nights when I don't want to worry about concentrating I play my Bots/FF and steam roll the heck out of stuff.Put a goto command on a mouse button and they are the easiest to use. They all want to be at the same range.........and that's right by the enemy. It's point and click.
The big difference in control of the ninjas is their speed. To me, that's a benefit. When I tell them to do something, they get there in a hurry. It's almost like having a ranged pet with melee damage.....because it doesn't matter where at, they're going to go where I tell them and kill nice and quick. They move quick. They animate quick. And, most of all, they don't say anything!
Yeah, they're melee and they kinda demand goto commands because of it. You don't want the Jounin shooting poison darts, for instance. But aside from simply not using goto commands, I don't understand the constant complaint that Ninjas are so much harder to use than anything else. Does everyone just play Bots on Follow/Defend and nothing else?
Put a goto command on a mouse button or use team teleport and Ninjas are no more difficult to play than anything this game has to offer.
Don't get me wrong Ninjas are fun. Sorry for sounding like they arn't but the require the most attention. And also I made that toon on purpose knowing exactly how it would play. Each set has its advantages and problems. Ninjas are just the Redheaded step child for MMs. Play them only after you play at different MM set just like I say with Bot/FF don't do the extremes at first. -
Yeah that is true but I belong to the group that says KB is a form of control and if you KB it you deal with it. If you keep KBing it it ain't going to attack me. That and the fact that static field pulses so even if the get KBed when the run back in they go back to sleep.
Trust me those arn't the only sets that get flack about KB. Ugg my claws scrapper. I am not going to not use my best power cause you keep whining about KB it ain't hurting you so shut it. After that I got kicked alot that or they understood. Actualy storm shouldn't hurt that much just remember to kite your mobs well and KB them into a corner, I actualy love a well played storm cause the mobs can't do jack for a very long time. -
I second that. Ninjas are the hardest MM primary to use. Just plain micro. Though I was bored and made a Ninja/TA it is good. Just very very aggravating.
You will only have one minor issue with necro/dark your heal is around you. you will have to run into melee with your pets when you want to heal them, that and it has to hit accuracy check is required for the heal. -
Not really. This topic was discussed quite well in another thread. And all they thought of was PLing and AFK. For me it looks like all it is good for is PLing.
-
Quote:See but you got one slight issue. Pain for MMs and Corrs are different. The Corr version does not have a toggle regen aura. The MM regen aura toggle is really great but the empathy regen clicky has a higher regen buff the only issue is the recharage. Empathy and Pain are very very similar for powers but each power has some differences between the two. But yeah Pain dom has 2 different powersets Corr and MM versions. For the most part the MM version is way better but on that note because they are a MM it sucks hard. MMs have the lowest buff to there secondary of anyone there secondary shares the powerset but that is on purpose cause they have a very powerful primary.I saw some differences in how Emp worked over pain...since I have not tried Emp I am just going by the description of the skills I read.
My main turn off was the beneficial aura Regen seemed to not be a skill that you can toggle on....like pains version which is always on.
here is Empathy Regen description for those who don't know:
The Regeneration Aura dramatically increases the healing rate of all nearby heroes for a limited time.
Yeah awhile back I studied out every detail of empathy and pain and how it would work with each AT, well control/defender/MM/Corr.
I will say one thing if you want to see a amazing thing join a team of, be one of, 2 empathy defenders. If they use there powers on each other first they have enough recharge to buff the whole team and themselves over and over and over again. Search out the Topic where someone tested that out.
Well back to on topic. Electric Control is so useful and well rounded that it works with any secondary. Some shine more then others but I don't think there has been a primary for controllers that has been so good. It doesn't depend on any secondary and any secondary can make it shine, is it the most powerful Primary not even close but the Devs did a really good job on it. -
The stealth don't work on mobs you already aggroed so. No placate. I really wonder what the heck this power is used for.
-
Quote:Yes I actually know about the differences. Which are huge. That being said controllers and defenders do just fine with empathy. The differences are enough to merit them getting pain dom too. I rather them port another set or make a new set then waste the slot with 2 sets being very close to same thing.Hmm. Now that there are Controller villains I think (hope) this argument is a wash. Empathy and Pain Dom are not the same.
It's true the sets have about 60% overlap. However Pain Dom is both different from Empathy in many ways, and similar to another set, Thermal Radiation, in many others.
Here is the rundown of basic overlaps:
Nullify Pain <> Warmth <> Healing Aura
Soothe <> Cauterize <> Heal Other
Conduit of Pain <> Rise of the Phoenix <> Resurrect
Enforced Morale <> Thaw <> Clear Mind
Share Pain <> [none] <> Absorb Pain
Anguishing Cry <> Melt Armor <> [none]
Painbringer <> [none] <> Adrenalin Boost
In terms of play style, Empathy and Thermal both have a "rolling buff" on 60 second Recharge (Forge and Fortitude) that Pain Dom lacks. The nature of this buff has these sets constantly searching for a friendly target to buff during the middle of combat. This significantly affects the way these sets are played.
Pain and Thermal both have "selfish rezzes" that differ from Empathy in that they double as either an attack or a buff.
Pain Dom has a PBAoE toggle heal that is not duplicated by any other powerset in the game, to my knowledge. Empathy meanwhile has two PBAoE aura on long (agonizing!) recharge, 500 seconds, and not possible (or at least very, very difficult) to make perma. Pain Dom's unique power World of Pain is similar-ish, but has less than half the recharge, and the effects are almost like an AoE version of Thermal's powers Forge and Thermal Shield.
Anyway, I see no reason to continue to prevent the proliferation of Pain Domination. Of the available sets that are remaining, it is probably the easiest and most straight forward available to make the transition.
Yes you can perma empathys buffs insanely easier then with pain. 2 empathy defenders together buffing each other will make your jaw drop. Yes I love Pain dom, love it alot, but almost all the powers pain has are a modified version of empathy, my favorite being the regen toggle MMs get. But you have to realize something if they port Pain to Control/Defend then they will have to port Empathy to Corr/MM and well Pain works better then Empathy would for the villians.
The only way I would like to see controllers getting Pain is if MMs get Kin. Which we know will never happen, I can't see one set that would break the game more then Kin would on a MM. But I want to have Kin on MM so bad tehehe. -
It happened in beta. It was in one of the patch notes there.
-
Quote:Controllers have pain already. It is called Empathy. Pain Dom was created to give villains access to empathy. And Empathy might actually work insanely good. Elec/Rad is tons of fun. The only reason I didn't make a Elec/Kin, which I did in beta, cause I found that Electric Control recharges fairly fast already almost all kins recharge bonus goes to waste not saying Kin is only good for that but it makes long recharge sets shine. That's what I was afraid of... I finally rolled an electric/Kin ...now i didn't go Rad because I already made a Earth/Rad....now I am beginning to think just stick with rad if I want to heal and help end.
I am really disappointed a Controller cant use Pain. I mean come on... We get the choice between Kin,Rad,Thermal for healer support....Rad so far seems superior over all. Kin seemed nice but like you just pointed out the more I mull over it...i see its a lot of tedious work with the skills in the line up.
Thanks...I am going to delete and reroll this new controller for Electric/Rad ....Would love Electric/Pain so much more but oh well.
