Change my Twilight Grasp when you can pull it from my cold, dead... er... grasp. Of all the Heals on all my toons, I love TG the most, and I dont slot it for the Debuffs, just for fast accurate Healing. As soon as I can, I slot 1 Acc, 3 Heals and 2 Rech. Obviously combined with other bonuses in my arsenal; it is on the high end of accuracy and heals and plenty quick for most circumstances. But even a tricked out Emp/Pain loses a few. Tweak it a bit and find what works best for you, but dont change it; it works just fine.
And if people just expect you to be their own personal Heal-Bot; they deserve to suck pavement. EOS. Survival depends on everyone working as a team. -

You know, a quick fix for new tilesets without really having to produce new tilesets would be just to slap the tiles in the old graphics proggie and swap the colors a bit. Like I am about sick to death of the burnt orange carpet theme for Offices. Hasnt anybody heard of slate blue, or I would even go for the old 70's throwback avocado carpet; howabout a deep purple pile? Change the paint on the walls too and you instantly have dozens of new color configurations to work with. Just let the RNG do it's job populating the missions with new colors.
I am a firm believer in the Standard Code Rant, but this has got to be a magnitude easier to do than to come up with and implement whole new tilesets. At least it would be a stop gap measure, and you would be surprised what a simple color change would do to the same old maps. -
Quote:Ah. Thanks. I misunderstood. Although I believe I have heard them say that; I cant be dogmatic about it (because I am too tired at the mo' to try and search that statement out).Sorry I was referring to the second part of his statement and not the first, where he stated that they DID directly talk about the 10 enhancements during a respec, nothing to do with SSK.

Quote:Uh, P-B, he wasnt saying that as a direct quote from the Devs, but rather that there never was such a direct quote made by the Devs. Just thought I'd clarify how I read it. And BTW, your Link was to a CoH Launch interview which was dealing with 'how things are going to be in CoH' not 'how things will be when CoV is launched in a year or so'. Being that we know by Dev caveat that CoV was already in development by Issue 2; Player Villains were acknowledged as coming (just not publicly at the time). And that being the case, it is still true. One cannot play as a Villain in Paragon City, or to quote Jack Emmert; "However, the player villains will not be able to actually commit crimes in the game." This is of course solely for City of Heroes/Paragon City, and does not apply to the denizens of the Rogue Isles.Have a direct quote or is this anecdotal or blasted off with the old forums? I also remember them saying no to playing as villains either.

With a tip of the hat to Red Valkyrja; just for comparison purposes:
In the US, the ESRB Rating is:
TEEN
Titles rated T (Teen) have content that may be suitable for ages 13 and older. Titles in this category may contain violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated gambling, and/or infrequent use of strong language.
In the EU, the PEGI Rating is:
16+
Titles rated 16 are suitable only for persons of 16 years of age or older. Some situations include moderate to strong action violence, mild references to gambling, and rude humor.
This makes them a close match. Besides the Ratings Systems are just for informational purposes aa to what the game provides by itself. The GM's are tasked with Mod'ing the activities of the subscriber base in order to keep that Rating. So, without further info as to what the OP thought "was a funny name", we have to rely on the GM's, and I will live with that because I would rather have the rule of law than an anarchy. Those who wish anarchy usually dont last long anywho.
I truly wonder what the name could have been when we have the NPC Dominatrix as a viable Teen/16+ name. Actually, this is a good example of a possible borderline, but technically 'valid' name for the game's rating. It's all in the way one 'reads into' the character (whether maturely or immaturely). The name (Dominatrix) is not necessarily an adult term. Just because the proper name for a female who dominates (has power over something) has been appropriated by a certain subculture doesnt make it 'adult' by definition. And the ingame description of the NPC is suggestive:
Quote:(suggestive bit emboldened for clarity)Being the daughter of a famous and universally loved super heroine never sat well with Dominatrix. She rebelled from a very early age and when she hit puberty and her powers kicked in she decided enough was enough. After killing her mother, the infamous Miss Liberty, she started making a name for herself. She caught Tyrants attention and has been serving him loyally, in all capacities, ever since.
But that is what is allowable: Suggestive but not Vulgar. Which is more along the lines of Mature without being Immature about it. And dont you wish that the kids could get a clue about what Maturity really means anywho?
Can you guess how I vote on this idea without me saying anything about a ranger? -
When I hear this suggestion (and yes I have heard it a number of times before); I have to stare in wonder. Although, you do at least give a nod to a slightly-somewhat-kinda plausible reason for the change you desire. Why my discomfiture at this question? Two reasons.
1) IF (and I mean, really, 'if') one goes through all the pain and trouble to create a Build with certain IO Sets, and specifically per your post, Purple/PvP sets; why on earth do we consider that they would be so shortsighted as to not have researched said Build to create it with at least a nod towards frugality in the first place? I mean; in order to Max this 'Awsome Build' out in the first place; they must have researched what they wanted a bit in the first place. So with all the number crunching, they forgot to 'count the cost' of what they were doing? Meh. Anything's possible.
Can this happen? Sure it can. My Main Villain is kinda facing this possible problem as we speak. Of course, he has only ever used 1 Respec (a Freebie a couple years ago) and has the max stock of Earned Respecs, VetSpecs, yada yada; why waste time talking about it. So I can see the possibility and the desire, but the need I do not see; especially with Dual Builds.
And taking the above into consideration; Reason Two begs the question.
2) Is it 'really' to completely change the Build you have gotten to 50 to 'purple out' into a PvP beast, or is it (in my own conspiratorial mindset) that the Player now has another new Character and Build which could make use of many of the Advanced IO Sets better than the 'Now Soon-to-be Abandoned in favor of Another' Character? I hate to say that I (personally) believe it is the latter more likely. But then I dont believe that people are 'basically good and honest' at the core of things. We all raise the Jolly Roger when we want something bad enough; and want what we want, the way we want it, NAO!
Not that I am against this, but then it doesnt necessitate a change either.
But that is what this Forum is for (and also the reason it is in the 'For Fun' Grouping). And Quint has the rationale correct anywho.
And all that just to go along with the Mods desire that I not just say /unsigned. Cant say I dont try to follow the rules. -
Also just an FYI to the OP: eventhough it says that it is "Downloading" to Fix the files; it usually isn't. Plus the 'Time' shown to completion is almost always incorrect by a huge factor. I do not know what it is using as a benchmark for completion, but it has been this way for as long as I have played (and downloaded) the game. Not a huge problem. Let it sit and do the work by itself, and you will have the game fixed in no time.
BUT also as stated previously: your rig is pretty underpowered for this game, not to mention what is in store for the game's upcoming upgrades. You 'can' play the game with your present configuration, but it will be on the low end of playability.
Also. If you want to get the 'good' download of the Updater; point your browser to this URL:
ftp://client.coh.com/US/
And chose which of the three forms of the Updater you wish to download. Good luck. -
Ditto. Or is that a 'non-allowable one word answer'? I still have no problem with the naming convention of the game. I also dont see why using a foreign word in one's name is problematic, but that's just me (and most of my Heroes/Villains are part of an extended mythos of my own creation anywho... to each their own). The best creative fun of the game is designing a toon, concept and name that is unique. If someone else has the name; what's the fun there?

Only two "color names" registered within the last 5 days: Carnie Lyn and Doc Delilah. Further deponent saith not. (And even I am not that A-R to check further back when intell doesnt indicate another 'Purple Name' existing... hmmm, not 'Purple' anywho; it's a 'Violet Name')
Welcomez t'both! -
Quote:As stated by Thirty Seven, not a policy or a glitch; it's a game mechanic, or just the way it is. Not even on the radar for being fixed, as you say.Especially when I spend literally an hour on the mission and then my computer crashes. Is this a glitch or is this some policy in the game? If this is not fixed, then I will stop paying for more time in this game until it is fixed.
Furthermore, it is no different than your own 'game mechanic' of being in a mission for "literally an hour". It just is. Now, if such a thing happens and depending on your level you just cant bear to go through the whole mission to the point you left off; get a higher level character (if possible) to whiz you through the parts you've done; then thank them and finish the mission yourself. At least that is what I would do if I really wanted to experience everything, but didnt want to replay what I had already done. But the extra XP cant hurt terribly, but I understand you (to a point).
In any event, I hope you can get past this, and enjoy the game. -
Quote:Actually the "Barbie" part may have been the sticking point.I had a stone tank named Stoner Barbie and she was Genericed in a day... and she was a Stone... the reference was to that fact...
In referrence to 'druggie' culture naming or any other naming; we all run the risk of Genericing as has been stated. It is the GM's decision. Of course, then there is the ability to appeal said judgment, but the initial Generic can be as arbitrary as the GM. The EULA is as specifically vague as can be to allow them the leeway necessary to keep the game within the specifications to maintain its present rating. Cant fault a business for that. Actually, I feel that businesses should be allowed even stricter rules, but living on the 'Left Coast'; I have learned to live within the strictures of the PC (and I dont mean Personal Computer) culture. -
Yeah. I just checked with my son's inactive CoH account, and it does ask for a CC, but I didnt follow through with the Referral. Perhaps when you get an answer from Support on this you would be kind enough to enlighten us here if this is a glitch in the system or a change.
Either way; good luck. -
Question: Has your account (KyleVance) been inactive for 90+ days? If not then you would be ineligible for the referral/reactivation time. Although it also states on the "Invite a Friend Back" page that it would show that your account has been inactive for 90+ days on your game account management page.
It may or may not have any bearing; just a thought. -

Quote:Do you mean 'multiquote' a Post??My goal is to get my Level 38 blaster to 50 and to get my Level 39 Corruptor to 50. I also would like to ask how you all do the number 1. then comment the below that number2. then comment and below that number 3. then comment i tried but failed miserably!
1. try
2. check
3.did it work? -
Quote:Yep. And to keep getting the Bonuses, I will be charging and then playing, and charging and playing; ad nauseum to maximize my Infamy garnering whenever possible. But I dont mind. I was just sort of showing I had been so intent on Badging that I hadnt really kept track of what the DJP was. Doh!It will take 10 days to fully charge the Expert Version of the Inf Dayjob (if you have the accolade not just the DJ) and it lasts 2 hours.
Just thinking about it; now I wonder. The Bonus Inf does count towards the Inf Badges, and it's not a Null like working AE where Inf does not accrue towards Badges, correct? I figure it does, but one never knows until one does it. -
Quote:EU/NA Server combining (not merging) would be great, but just FYI: there are no Asian Servers. Besides which, as far as I know, the game City of Hero was very similar, but not exactly the same as City of Heroes (different City and all), AND City of Hero closed down its Servers before launching.I want to be able to access the Ero servers... and I'm sure they would like to access the U.S. Servers as well, I mean I really like to see what a Ero Server is like. I live in Japan (due to the military) but my account is American, and I can access the US servers and they're mostly the same, but I wanna be able to access the Ero Servers too.. Like Union for example. But not only that but I would like to see what the Asian Server is like too (no I don't know any Asian server names) but since there's the US Servers, and the Ero Servers and the Asian Servers. I would LOVE to be able to have all the servers open so I can access them all and see what it's like to play on them..
it's a thought nothing more..
P.S. I would love to see a Ms. Liberty and War Witch TF...
According to Wikipedia:
Quote:City of Hero
A Korean open beta of City of Heroes, entitled City of Hero (시티 오브 히어로, Siti Obeu Hieoro), was launched on January 18, 2006. However, the game's official release was cancelled. The Korean CoH team directed its players to a coupon for an account on the US servers. -
Quote:Hmmm. English is not the native's language. But clarification of thought would be appreciated. So far: Posts in Thread:2 Understandability of Posts: Null.COLLAPSE!! ahah.. only for 50-100 EU player?
But you are a player or nc supporter?
I, personally, am both a Player and a NCsoft/Paragon Studios supporter. I see no dichotomy in this. But I also think that the possibility of consolidating the NA and EU Servers isnt beyond the pale. While Server Merges is hopefully not anywhere on the horizon.
So, if the idea here is to give access to all Servers to all Players, I am for it. If it is to give free Game Time to Euros; I am against it. Gotta pay to play, liebchen. -
This would effectively add up to a Null. Rewards and Badges would be farmed by Badgers and anyone looking for any type of ingame Rewards. I know I would for my Badgers. Just get my friends together; vote our heads off, and DING! So, now what was the point?
If you wish to prove something by your mad skilz at Creative Costumery; just do it. If you are looking for the approval of your peers; just do it. If you think this will be anything but exploited; you're doin' it wrong.
Suggestions & Ideas are in the For Fun Forum, but I'd /jranger this myself. -
Finished! Now to power up the Infamy Bonus DJP. So I leave the Vault (where I got the last Day Job badge), check the Day Jobs... and turn right back around. Guess my new Base of Operations is Cap til I finish the last two Inf Badges.

While interesting; I just dont see much need for this when it is covered 'for the most part' by Coalitions, and being on Team with the appropriate SG/VG's members. Your reasons are just not that compelling.
