  1. Going to second that, that's an impressive first post and game start. Two weeks after I first joined, I think I was still trying to navigate the Hollows and had maybe 100k inf to my name.
  2. When Power Siphon wears off, you don't get additional damage buffs each time you use a kinetic melee attack. That's it, no drawback.
  3. What is this rubbish about better not being the same as faster in the context of farming? Speed is pretty much the only metric you can use to determine farming proficiency, as technically there isn't such a thing as a character that can't farm.
  4. Farming tickets is easy enough that you should be able to pick pretty much any damage dealer and not be too far behind the performance of the fastest ones, provided you pick AoEs available to your powerset and use inspirations as they drop.
  5. I like everything about Going Rogue, except the massive performance issues that got even worse for minimal, if at all, eyecandy improvements (for the player who didn't change a thing with his graphic options but has to live with the new warehouse maps and such).
  6. Big ST orange numbers = BS/FA.
  7. For a time I've tried to do something during loading times or downtime in general, but it's too uneven to have any kind of serious routine, and going back to playing after putting stress on my body sometimes ended up in finger/back pain.

What I do now is I work out while I play the market. I have to switch between a bunch of characters (so, spend quite some time on loading screens) to do that anyway, and it's the kind of ingame activity that I can control the pacing of.

It should be possible to do the same with solo missions I guess - take out one spawn, exercise, rest, repeat ; but with actual playing I find myself going "oh, my judgement is recharged, I gotta fight just one more spawn" at best and locked in scrapperlock for an entire mission at worst.

    Double XP

I'm in complete agreement with you, medic57. Having also played other MMOs where DXP weekends are a regular occurrence (up to once a month), people were eager to log on and play each and everytime.

Having higher peaks tends to be better even if it results in lower troughs, because these highs will occur during primetime for most players whereas the lows will happen during the week at off hours and affect a minimal amount of players. More importantly, people bring people, so even averaging it all you gain much more than you lose in net activity.

Another bonus of DXP weekends, for this game in particular is that they tend to bring people out of the AE. While AE farms are still much, much faster than regular playing even with double exp outside, the gap is lessened enough to make normal leveling an attractive alternative to some of the players who just AE the rest of the time.
  9. Opened up this thread expecting to see a bump from two or three years ago, to be honest.

Do the lack of players on any particular side matter all that much in these days of shifting alignments?
  10. I wanted to clear alchemical silver bids the other day, but walking back and forth from the AE plus deleting other kinds of salvage you get doing common rolls is such a hassle I gave up quick. Even with superspeed and superjump, it takes longer to drop stuff on the market than to actually generate it.

... Vill-side, that is. Being a stinkin' hero would probably help, what with Atlas' WW being about four feet away from the AE ticket guy.

(Edit: scratch that, Mercy BM is just as close.)

I21 can't come soon enough. Increased salvage capacity, /ah...

Of course, if there's a concerted effort, it'll be much more interesting. Gonna roll 25-40 arcane salvage from now on.

  12. I did not notice the pimp hat, sir. Thank you for pointing this to my attention, I now need to rewatch this video, in fullscreen this time.
  13. Yes, you will need to craft another tier2 (and so, another tier1 as well) to craft the second T3.
  14. What impressed me is the ridiculously low loading time you spend on the CoH screen (not the loading bar, the one right before that).

A decent ambush farm takes well over 20 minutes
Considering the standard time for soloing an ambush farm with the maximum amount of ambushes at +4/x8/bosses is around three or four minutes, I would say you make a fine point as to why going for defense rather than offense is not a sound idea for a farming character.
  16. My strategy is to not use end crash nukes. It's simply not efficient compared to normal fighting, for me. Ideal scenarios where kins, colds or emps refill your endurance at just the right time are great - except that you still have to retoggle, except that it won't work out perfectly each and every time unless said kin/cold/emp is far, far above the average skill level of the playerbase.

I'll second the "fun" point, though. Regardless of efficiency, it's just great to wipe out most of a spawn in one go. Good time to nuke? Whenever there's a bunch of mobs and that you'll be sure your contribution won't be needed for a few seconds afterwards.

    Farm Reviews

Now, now. I wasn't looking to hurt your feelings, I genuinely think this is a fun concept and that you can do better than this with the execution.

If you want to take it as a jab, oh well, have at it. It's no wonder AE turned out so well with that kind of reaction to any feedback that isn't glowing praise.

    Reviewing "Farm Reviews" by FredrikSvanberg

Fun concept, but the execution didn't elicit as much as a chuckle from me. While the subject matter is obviously repetitive in nature, most of the jokes seem to be about pointing out the repetitiveness and many of these fall flat. I would think reading the abuse filled tells to be actually more entertaining.

The reviews are complicated to follow, seemingly jumping from the original premise to breaking the fourth wall at any time.

I can't recommend for anyone else to check this thread as it is right now, but it shows promise and with some work could prove to be interesting for more than just disgrunted AE authors looking for relief. 3 stars.
  19. Revamp, revamp, revamp - bah. Give the option to turn KB into KD, and I'd be fine with PBs. Foot Stomp makes anything enjoyable.

There's also more than your numbers, they're just hidden.
This argument needs to die a painful, fiery death. People who are hidden are, well, hidden (duh). They aren't available to other players for teaming up or whatever activities. For all intents and purposes, players who are hidden may as well not exist in the context of someone looking for a PUG.
  21. Is the "Beta Server VIP Test" server supposed to be accessible to subscribers right now?
  22. True, but you're going to hit the ticket cap on +0/x8/bosses already. One other option (probably fastest?) is to raise the rep and stick to lieuts, although that also means no juicy boss influence.

Regardless, there's probably a fair amount of people farming on +4 like you say, for many different reasons. I was a bit quick to assume most would do it on +0.
  23. I was thinking they could play it, just not get rewards from it, so the powerleveleD would still get their experience.

I'm a bit confused by all the premium/F2P stuff though, and maybe you're right in thinking it wouldn't work. If AE access isn't an option, I would probably backpedal to SS/Fire as the extra radius is a great boon in normal maps, and low recharge not too much of a problem as powers keep recharging while you run from mob to mob.

It's kind of hard to say the badge system "failed" in this game when you consider there was a time when the only way ANYONE could get some of badges in this game was to "exploit" loopholes, create third party tools and cheat sheets.
Half a dozen badges having unrealistic requirements does not make engineered, systemic cheating acceptable ; nor does it even matter unless one assumes every badge should be obtainable, like it's a X% affair.

That idea, that you should be able to have every badge, is already a perversion of the system in my eyes. At this point you're already done looking at badges show what characters have done, and moved on to how much do I have, gotta have them all territory.

It's not about blame. Rewarding puzzles or exploration in MMOs more often than not fails because it's much harder to prevent cheating for that sort of stuff than for experience or loot, and in this game it's obvious the devs not only didn't even try, but eventually embraced that mindset.

If I see someone with a thousand badges, I know it's more likely that he went to badge-hunter.com and took a look or downloaded maps and guides than did all that stuff naturally, and so, in the end, it means nothing ; and even people who might have done that stuff legitimately, it still means nothing to other players, because as there's no way to tell if they got all that by gaming or metagaming, the most likely assumption is that they took the easy path like everyone else. Them's the breaks.
  25. On SOs, assuming AE ambush farms (as it's the most efficient way to PL right now), I would think Claws/Fire would work better than SS/Fire. At low recharge levels you are not animation limited.
