  1. Another thing Bright Shadow is that there used to be a Sherksilvers herobuilder with which you could do attack chains on. It leaned towards how many attack chains you could do to the endurance bar. Attack powersets back then looked more partially balanced to how much damage you can do to an endurance bar rather than burst. I say partially because if you had a secondary effect you basically did less damage. People tended to be only interested in burst and maintaining that burst and of which there was more of a limit to with SOs.

They're both functions of damage over time, so it's a reasonably semantic argument, but, as I see it, DPS is an end value whereas DPA is a derivative value that assists in calculation and optimization.
    With attack chains I might have 2 or 3 per toon, depending on what I am upto. 1 ST chain for burst, 2 ST chains one after the other for the more long winded fights and AoE and ST combined. Across different types of chains DPA, DPS and DPE differed in importance. Damage slotting effected DPA, Damage and End slotting effected DPE and Damage and Recharge slotting effected DPS. With IO sets these days differentiating is not so important. Back before Mids it was SOs, getting the right mix of slotting to suit different circumstances and needs was not important to me but of interest to look at how well melee sets were balanced.
  3. Yeah something like that but DPS differs to DPA possibly just to me though. I was doing this stuff long before Mids and thats how I differentiated things to get what I wanted to know.
  4. DPA, DPS and DPE are 3 seperate things to me. DPA is dp arcanatime + cast time. DPS is dp arcanatime + cast time + actual rechg and DPE is most obvious but that's looking at powers individually to first attain priority. Different attacks have the potential to hit a different amount so then there can be scaling involved. Secondary effects can help get a certain amount of extra efficiency.

    The Boot Myth

    I just require cooperative players. Someone may not be the best player but are willing to get along. I haven't kicked anyone in a long time but it generally was with people who give the enemy everything they could possibly want. If you have all the IQ of a rikti monkee it's not as bad as an excuse to stay in team but a traitor is unwanted.
  7. On topic: Clearly Praetorian version of WW. Astral projection gets you everywhere.

  11. Taunt and the Earth Epic. To tank the untankable for teams that are unthinkable in some peoples eyes. Anything is possible with them.

    You've met some wallies. Now I don't expect people to be told to stop and wait but I do expect people to not do what Castle called "terminally stupid things".
  13. I've done it with a character or two hero and villain side, couldn't do it with all of them as I'd sooner have a lot of cool characters to play than just a couple by the time the game ends. TFs are good for leveling to me now.
  14. My KB is used either defensively or offensively, on a melee character it's perhaps to alpha the enemy instead and gain aggro and this could be on someone silly's behalf. Otherwise directed towards corners, secondarily walls and then maybe thirdly used/not used for the benefit of other peoples characters. Depending on whose in team I can guess at what kind of scatter I can create. KB is a tool for control as much as it is a tool to cause less of it. Some players open with a -kb mass immob and so my cone kb is held back on until that's been used. Even peoples taunt auras can be turned off for the benefit of the team at times. DPS could be lowered by one person to help better ensure the survivability of an entire team so that the entire team maintains their DPS. Not everything should be used because it's available. Techniques can be good or bad without the numbers.

    Sorry
    That's okay, it'll be awhile before everyone gets back to me. People should of saw a PM from me. I'd prefer to meet people on their Khelds ingame to long establish roles before setting a date we can all agree on. A couple of people may not get back to me at all. I've had this before, everyone goes through all the trouble and someone decides to a mothership raid instead. They'd be counted as unreliable and someone else will have to be found. To succeed you need people who want to succeed.

    There is a partial reason for not randomly picking people up. This is to devise people roles in order to be as near as dammit to a MoSTF. I know an Mo is possible from an all scrapper run but can we near as dammit with Khelds?

    All Kheld MoSTF

    I have all the people I need for this now, well who've so far said they'd do it live. I want to do this quite openly as my confidence in an all kheld stf lacks for nothing. I got one PB, who with me and Scirocco have got things going on, we can survive him and keep attacking him till he's dead. With Scirocco sorted that to me seemingly leaves Lord Recluse as a one and only last problem. It's actually more to do with his pets but the way I see it, it's doable if ya commit to it.
  19. I've got a list of 7 ppl who said they'd be interested.

    @New Dawn
    @Jonny Cash
    @Alpha Boss
    @Anna Puna
    @Chaos Womble
    Gruntle
    @Sexy Kane
    @Charnell

    If anyone doesn't get along with someone else can we put personal squabbles aside? PM me if there is any friction or concerns.

    So that's 8 now. I will make contact with people ingame. I'd like to know peoples current builds as it is better to have roles sorted before even starting. I might look at it and say well that slot could be here and that slot could be there and you can achieve more of that then, but no one has to change. There is one person I would like with a certain pool power and another person I'd like with a certain PB power that's not always taken. My build can change as I can afford to change it but what changes we can find out.

    The main idea is to have fun. The idea of getting it done first time is not a good one. Some people fail to show up let alone get along with the rest of the team and a full team is beneficial. Fail to show when one has said they'd be there could mean a bye bye. I'll be looking to find people who will show. I'm self employed and work what gorram hours I like. Not everyone has this option and I'll be trying to find out when everyone is free for a best fit time and date.

    Sexy Kane is the defender when we tank AVs. I've been in RV with him. He's very good, we done really well and so his fate *cough* I mean part is sealed

    That's not doing anybody a favour. Well it is in them getting something done perhaps but in the long run it could be that your not really giving other people the benefit of accumulating the necessary experience. Maybe they will get it, maybe they won't. I'm the type to do something then do it again with another character. Other people can play what the hell they like. If they can't play sensibly and not care then I just avoid them personally in the future. If they didn't play well but have the intent to improve then I really like them. The other thing is it can mean set team make ups near enough. People consistently doing things with the same comfort blankets. There is more to prove and more of a challenge with diversing the team make up. Sure a good team can get it done with all the equipment in the world but to get things done without the right tools is still something one could endeavour to achieve.
  21. I think everybody does something that's a bit daft to somebody else. It's the ones you have to tell something to 3 times that are the worst.

(Actual phasing or invulnerability like Aeon or Master Illusionists is still a problem with Taunt
    You just told me: no debuff anchors. So you were the most convenient target. I suspect you tried to at least pull Recluse away from the teammates working the towers.
    If you've ever checked out the level of resistances AVs have. Resistance to range debuffs has never been a strong point. This was where Stormies Hurricane was always good. Some people would have a Stormie in team, be clueless to their value, then still need to find another defender.

He didn't budge from my Invuln. That was a while ago, so there may have been AI changes, etc, since then.

    As for no deaths... FF + Emp with PBU+Fort and I was eating a t3 purple at the same time (tried to go with an orange till red was down, too). This was before we knew how much +tohit the Blue Tower gave him (many postulated it was in the "yellow" tower, too). During the one brief period that Recluse hit me with my oranges down (and DP down), he railed me to 1hp twice in a row. Heh, good times.

    Note: My Invuln didn't have the Fighting pool.
    I've always had confront on my Scrappers. In doing Recluse with the towers up he is easier to keep with it. You can keep him without confront, just by being close however I've noticed that some people can attract him as they're doing damage to a tower. Watching their buffs just before he goes for them you can see why that possibly is. They've effectively raised their threat value. It could be a case of them running effect enemy toggles then using soul drain as well as being a really strong damage dealer. Without confront you can lose his attention to such. With confront you can still lose attention just not as easily. It's mostly in the slotting, it's got to be very well slotted, maybe the more so depending on whose in team.

    If he is compelled to hit you but can't hit you with an attack then he will use other attacks. If he can't hit you with EMP pulse or Dust Devils then he will be forced to check if he can hit you with other attacks. If you don't allow him to be able to hit you with it and if you don't allow him to see anyone else as a greater threat in range of it then you can rule the use of those two attacks out. It's not really something a tauntless tank can achieve.

Might wanna try practicing what you preach. For me, I actually takeTaunt on about 1/2 my tanks and use them when appropriate (not nearly as often as some might think), so I at least can see from both sides of the divide. Oh, and it's usually those "other games" that require a tank to be taunt-bot. Again, don't leave your home w/o your healer either.

    I think that'll be it for me on this thread. There's a reason why BBQ exists on this board. Memphis dry rub ftw.
    The truth is that there are some players on these boards who already know your limits. You will have flexibilities in doing damage with fireball yes but would I give up my ability to team with practically any mix of powersets in competently doing any part of the game for that? Nope and others might not too. We all make our choices, you are entitled to yours but I wouldn't expect in a trillion years for a tauntless tank to out tank my tanks. Out scrank maybe, tank? Never.

    I've scranked the entire STF without a single defender or controller in the team using a Scrapper with confront. Whoever wrote some guide to tanking which included getting some pocket healer wasn't me. Wrong tree.
