  1. Yah, it can spawn a ton of masks- they're a pain though, so I usually hop out and re-set if I see too many.

It's like DA, but with purples!
  3. I agree I16 should go a long way toward getting farmers out of MA and back in the 'real' world.

I'm eagerly looking forward to bumping up the spawn size on my fire/rad and rowing through the ocean of zombies in his farm map.

    being nit picky:

Aside from the impact of balancing on recipes drop rates are the same as ever.

MA changed what's available by changing player behavior.
Most players will be using tickets efficiently, so it's never going to generate much common salvage.

I have it on almost all my characters who have a Ranged AoE attack with no built-in knockdown functionality. It's fun! xD

I've got that one in the Goat's Rain of Fire.

Super fun- the more the merrier!
  12. enough KB will overcome the IO.

My fire tank spent quite a bit of one Katie on his rear during the final battle because his Steadfast wasn't quite up to the job.

    So what did I do?
I drew my broadsword and started jumping, trying to hit a foe that was +42 to me. After a "lol" from the L50 and a whole lot of misses, I finally hit the Sapper. It turned and Zapped the heck out of me, draining all of my end, but not killing me. Then it continued to ignore me.

I was in Talos with my pal's energy blaster when we saw our first Rikti Monkey, a level 50 that was just hopping around on the edge of the island.
I was playing my emp, so we figured "what the heck, let's kill it!" I buffed him up and got the heals ready, he popped all of the yellows we had, hit aim and fired off his snipe.

Miracle of miracles, he hit the thing......and did 1 point of damage.

    =P

Then we laughed and ran away.

    Not very far at all.

All of my characters start with a concept- how much I play them depends almost entirely on how well I am able to realize that concept.

I do enjoy messing around with IOs, but I don't pay any attention to the #'s.
The extent of my planning is "dang, my fire/rad REALLY burns endurance....I wonder what sets will give me +rec?" On the Goat I went for +damage, just because it sounded fun. On my kat/regen I went for regen, even though defense would have made more sense from the 'powergamer' perspective.

If it's thematic and it sounds fun, I'll do it. The 'numbers' don't usually factor into my decision making.

Cost shouldn't be much of a concern- inf rains down from the sky.

The annoyance factor of having enhancements that degrade as you level and require constant updating is a concern.

I slot drops until I can slot level 15 generics then fill up on those.
If you think ahead and put in your bids while selling stuff you can get them for dirt cheap (thank you Badgers!).

Once you've done that you don't really have to worry about it anymore- I gradually upgrade to 20s and 25s as I play, prioritizing important stuff like Acc.

If I'm going to do the set IO route, I usually start slotting between 30-40 (I like to be able to exemplar a bit without losing my set bonuses). If it's a character that doesn't worry about set bonuses, I just ride my generics while the money piles up. I usually replace my 25s with 35s, again placing bids well before I need the enhancements to ensure the greatest savings on 'list price'.

But it doesn't matter much what you use.
You'll do fine on DOs, SOs, generics, whatever.
I just find generics more convenient and less aggravating than the stuff that is always expiring.

I have to admit it took me MONTHS to figure that out.
I actually bugged it a couple of times. =(

My favorite personal n00b moment was when I took Flurry instead of Hasten on my ma/sr scrapper because a recharge bonus didn't sound like much fun.

Between the original Storm Kick and Flurry, I think he had like a 45 second attack chain....

  18. firefox here, no problems.

I have it set to auto-update, so I've always got the latest build.

browser problems can be really annoying, good luck sorting yours out.

one idea that hasn't been suggested is making an adware/malware sweep of your hard drive- some of them cause odd behavior.

    This gives me an idea.

Advertise for a team by catering to the worst stereotypes in the game, then see what happens.

e/g, "Mish team looking for healor & DPS, PST!"

Maybe I should do this with my fire tank and take notes. =P

I'm just calling it an exploit because it is obvious to me(although some disagree, and I'm fine with that too).

I do agree that it isn't the players job to decipher what's ok to fight and what is an "exploit." IMO, that should be clearly stated if any punishment is to be handed out.
And as they have been reluctant to provide any generally useful guidelines, the tactics of the previous regime (patch the issue and move on) seem to be the best approach.

Happily, our current devs seems to have figured this out.

I don't have the time for TFs and/or raids. Subtracting Katies I can count the # of TFs I've run in the last 5 years on one hand, and I wouldn't need a single finger for the last two.
My only exposure to Hamidon was taking a break from Kora farming with my elec/emp back when phase shift still worked and strolling into the middle of the jello mold to get the badge.

I imagine there are many player like me who log a fair amount of game time overall but hardly ever have the multiple consecutive hours required for most of the 'advanced' content.

Name one instance in the "real" game where any singular foe without attacks exists, not an object but a foe.
I haven't fought everything in the game, so I don't see the relevance.

    Were the mitos bugged?
If they weren't, there's nothing to discuss.

    Quote:
Them having no attacks when they are always spawned with other mitos (with attacks) and Hamidon (who also has attacks) is not an issue.
    Why not?
I see it as the entirity of the issue.

If they have no attacks in the 'real' game and MA lets you fill maps with whatever you want from the real game it isn't on the players to just "know" they aren't supposed to do it.

It was a legal use of a game entity.
The devs didn't like it, so they pulled them.

    Fair enough.

    Quote:
Them having no attacks is working as intended. Them being the only enemies on a map is not.
    Absolutely incorrect.
MA EXPLICITLY allows you to fill maps with one entity.
If the devs blew it and allowed an enemy they didn't want available, that's no fault of the playerbase.

They didn't like the result, they changed it, fantastic. Everybody moves on. That was exactly how the system should work.

    Quote:
Even if you had never seen them before, not seeing that getting full rewards without any risk being mitigated (i.e. they are not debuffed, held, or any other action of the player) as working as intended is being obtuse.
Given your insistence on ignoring the key point of the entire discussion, I find your inability to grasp my position comforting.
  24. I have two experimental characters I've been leveling lately, my stalker who's emulating the play style of the 'casual gamer' (all contact door missions all the time) and a brute who I'm playing with my usual mix of styles- some farming, some radio missions, some story arcs, and plenty of casual marketeering.

The results have been interesting- I'll be documenting them in a thread as soon as I can figure out how to take screenshots on my new widescreen monitor that don't end up all squished and compressed.
The stalker is parked at 30 and ended up clearing 30 million inf doing nothing but selling drops and crafting recipe drops that didn't take more than one or two pieces of cheap salvage.
The brute just hit 29 and in spite of my wily marketeering isn't that much richer- he's sitting at 45 million with all his market slots still full.

You really have to make an effort to be poor in this game.
The money just falls from the sky. If you're too lazy to grab a bucket and collect some, that's nobody else's fault.

How do those enemies behave in the "real" game?

If they don't have attacks, then no "exploit" is possible.
If they do have attacks and they were bugged in MA, there is some possible moral hazard for players who knew something was wrong but farmed them anyway.

In any case, if its in the game, people will use it. If the devs don't like that, they can change things. It isn't the players job to decipher what's OK to fight and what is an "exploit".

That being said, I feel it was handled much better this time. A problem was discovered, and they quietly fixed it. I think they learned their lesson from the cluster-**** that was Comm officer punishments. I have no issues with the way this was addressed.
Their return to the original way of dealing with problems is welcome.
    Here's hoping the lesson sticks.
