    Effective Team

its not annoying its damn right rude ... best thing to do is spam invite them til they respond... then say smt along the lines of

thanks for replying, isnt it easy to do , now y the hell did it take u 10mins to respond, neway can i join ur time, pls tell me yes or no either way

if that doesnt work black list him

    [/ QUOTE ]

ah yes, cause of course they are gonna invite you to a team if you get as annoying/rude as that.. tbh instead of bothering to respond i'd just hit that /ignore button. Oh and blacklisting someone just cause you spam him and get annoying and he wouldnt let you join your team.. well thats just too stupid for words.

I understand it's annoying when people dont reply. And i admit sometimes i have been one of them, but that is often when im in the heat of battle and just dont have the time to type a reply. Then when i got time it often is too late or whatever. Or when i clearly state i dont want to team (also flag not looking for team) and people still ask to join team. In that case i'd reckon if you're too ignorant to read, im not gonna waste my time replying. It's annoying sometimes, true, but theres no need to get as overreacted like that.

On a more ontopic note, currently im more often playing villains than heroes, but quite often still hop on heroes. Mainly to do TFs etc. I'll keep an eye out next time.
  2. well.. i think i wouldve retorted with the fact he needed a heavy to damage you, but thats besides the point. Coming to a zone prepared imo makes you the better PvPer.

Once was in sirens and laughed hard at an ill/storm troller there challenging people to duels with the rule "no insps, no temps, no running". Of course he beats a fair bit of characters. I challenge him on my MM and then get told he wouldnt fight me cause im too good (while i just entered the zone on him, was on heroes the whole time before that). In other words "I wont fight you, I only fight people i can easily beat". Think most people on Union know who im talking about >.>

But yea, load up on insps, get all those temps into gear.. PvP is bout giving what you got, including insp overdosing. Now, constantly hiding in water of safe zone in WB to buff and heal your fighting teammates without risk, thats a whole different story..

    FF/psy

    [ QUOTE ]

Oh yeah, Force Bubble hasn't worked properly since they "fixed" Hurricane a while back. I'm the only one that's been complaining about it, because I'm one of the very few that actually use it in PVP. I think it's just me and Dark Blasphemy in the EU at the moment.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    *ahem*

I've been using force bubble ever since arena came out on my ill/ff. And yeah, indeed it is broken. It's not funny that once you thought you were fairly safe inside from melee toons, only to be proven wrong by everybody just walking through it with ease. It used to be only possible by having just the right amount of momentum with SS (or having some form of repel resist obviously). Though now even people with fly manage to just fly through it, its well annoying i can tell ya.

    MM vs AV/Hero

Thusfar I've soloed every AV/hero there is with my bots/poison. All with fair ease, and including that time the AVs had those ridiculously high regen buffs. Poison does a nice bit of debuffing, together with some healing capabilities. While robots buff/debuff themselves and do a fair amount of damage. Not to mention quite a bit of stuff bots are resistant to.

Only thing to watch for is your bots running in melee (big no-no) or fire-based AVs/Heroes (I'm looking at you Infernal..) cause they tend to hurt quite a bit.
  5. having SR as DM/SR combo i'd say SR is a pretty good powerset as well. As said with parry you attain high lvls of defense already. However as parry only defends against melee/lethal, it wont save you from ranged blasts (well.. aside from AR and archery.. but you dont really see those in pvp ). However it will help for the majority of blappers out there that use melee attacks on you.

That said, remember parry interrupts your attack chain, with a blaster storming at you, its better to just launch a counterattack, bu-headsplitter-disembowel = 1 very unhappy squishy. It can kill em or bring em significantly down to health so you can finish em off with hack. However when fighting multiple foes, you can just do the attack-parry-attack-parry-etc.. trick.

BU+aim indeed does negate quite a bit of SR, however it doesn't last forever. Who says you cant just run and jump around like crazy when you see those red/yellow pops coming (its what i do on my regen sometimes as well.. cause it hurts you BAD)

Also even if you do get hit, thats why you got aid self, to heal that damage dealt to you back. And seeing you are defense based, its hard to interrupt you.

btw... i dont think bu/aim is enough for elude unless both are slotted 3x tohit. Always thought you needed powerboost to add to the mix, but i could be wrong.
  6. aye.. imo IOd builds are nice, give you a nice advantage, but still i dont see it radically changing a set to "uber-unbeatable mode". As said earlier in this thread I think it kinda balances it a bit.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
Basically I could maybe afford one tenth of that, on one character. I hate grinding.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Aye same here, and dont forget not everybody god an uber-leet-farming toon just to fuel their pvp toons, or a second account to PL pvp toons etc etc.. like i said earlier, its that little barrier between casual and hardcore PvPers that needs to be worn down.
Of course its easy to say "well those that arent willing to put effort in it, should just [censored]" (exaggerated of course..) but instead of ignoring the problem like that, which you basically do by saying that, you should try to find a way to get people more involved.

For instance with casual events I presume, events not only forum regulars and hardcore pvpers will attend. Nothing wrong with the current events, but its not really helping. Maybe something like the arena night on test server but on live server as well. Dont think moving all pvp to test and then whinge that live server pvp is dead is the answer. I remember trying to set up such an event, then got shot down by quite a few hardcore pvpers cause it wasnt "hardcore" enough.

Please note that this isnt a dig at all the hardcore pvpers cause i got a few pvp builds myself as well, just tryin to keep an open discussion bout how to solve the problem.
  8. if you want to use it as slow stacking, i think its better slotting for recharge rather than slow. However I would still go for the damage on those as you need the ranged damage they provide
  9. having both of them myself and pvped with both myself (scrapper is 50, corr is 30 atm) I would agree with the rest and start with the scrapper. BS/regen is pretty powerful and can most of times get a few kills in, especially when you use buildup and then land a critical headsplitter on a squishy.. they aint amused (in WB with 3 dmg SOs i believe it was roughly round 900 dmg)

however, bs/regen got a few downfalls as well which you have to counter:

    1) slooooooooooooooooooooooooooow, can be countered with +recharge set bonuses etc, but still broadsword is really slow. Also aside from the recharge times, you're always stuck in animation for a while cause i found the animations pretty slow as well. Few times i've died cause i couldnt use reconstruction cause i was stuck in animation.

    2) weapon redrawal, doesnt look like much, but after each regen move, or basically any non-sword move, you have to redraw your weapon. In pvp that 1 second of drawing your weapon could be enough for your opponent to run away.

    3) lack of range or mez (aside from knockdown, which i dont really class as mez), coupled with your slow recharges and being stuck in animation for a while so its slower to use a followup, you need some way to prevent your opponent from running after the first hit. Without a mez power, you can get that critical headsplitter in, but they'll just run off and heal after. It's worth investing in the presence pool for fear or getting the weapons epic to prevent this.

    4) endurance, yes.. regen has ace endurance recovery, yes, recovery bonuses are nice.. but even so, broadsword is pretty endurance heavy i found. In long fights without stamina to support you, you got a decent chance of running out of endurance.

    5) regen has NO damage mitigation. Sure, you heal back fast, but as said earlier, so many sets negate regeneration by now it aint funny anymore. You rely solely on your heals coming back in time. If people hit you with slows and/or -regen powers, you're screwed. Whereas sets like SR, inv or dark got damage mitigation in the form of defense/resistance. Also anything with high burst damage (defiance blasters, anyone?) will rip you to pieces faster than you realize whats hitting you. Because of this i also found out timing is crucial with regens (when to use that reconstruction for optimum efficiency) and lag is even more deadly to em than any other AT imo.

Btw, regen's lack of damage mitigation can be kinda negated by slotting parry right and spam it. However parry interrupts your attack chain and doesnt offer defense for every type of attack.

In the end a few of these cons are easily negated by sets (+recharge, +recov for instance), still you need to get in melee and make sure your opponent stays there, thats the biggest challenge for a bs scrapper.

About ice/cold, theyre nice, they rip melee chars to shreds. Regens got no chance against em with the -regen and all the slows. About no real burst damage.. ice has imo the best single target burst damage of all corr sets. Especially with cold's debuffs. Trick is to debuff em to hell and back first, and then help em out of their misery by pelting em with ice till theyre down.

However, they are alot squishier than regens. 2/3 good hits and theyre down. This can be partially compensated by taking aid self of course. Another problem i found is that its hard to get all the powers you want, when you want, cause its a pretty tight build (you want almost all /cold powers, but also want aid self, acro and ss for pvp...).

Combining these i'd say ice/colds are more for some more experienced players that know what theyre doing. Hence i'd say try bs/regen first see how you like it, get a hang of pvp first, learn the pros/cons of EVERY set out there (you need to know what your priority targets are, or what targets you just shouldnt bother attacking..) and get the ice/cold after as i think the ice/cold is alot stronger than the bs/regen, but also a lot harder to play and easier to get pummeled.

btw if you need any advice, just drop me a tell on global. My scrapper's on defiant (though its a pve build till i get enough inf to fully slot the pvp build, however hes still pretty good in pvp) and corr on union (pve as well cause he needs to get to 50 ) if you want to see how they work
  10. Wouldnt exactly say too lazy.. there been a time i didnt go on test server cause i didnt have the disk space for another exact copy of CoH. I think a big problem is ppl don't really wantin to PvP with the so-called pvp elite. What i mean is there is a bit of cliqueforming where only familiar faces fight together. One hand the hardcore pvpers, other hand the casual ones. And I think instead of shouting "psh, just go to test" you should try to break down that barrier. By shouting "just go to test, and shut up if you cant be bothered installing it" you'll keep alienating alot of people, especially the casual ones.

Other thing bout the test server is you need to shut down your game, start test server for 1 or 2 arena matches, shut down test and go back to normal game. I wouldnt call that lazy, i'd call it a hassle. Especially for the casual PvPers who just like a quick PvP bout between their normal PvE activities. Its especially annoying if you (like me on my old comp) have a pretty slow game start-up/shutdown. Sometimes took me 5 mins to get comp responsive again after I shut down the game, even though while ingame i had no lag issues or slowness at all.

Reason i dont really do duels is cause i got no real duel-capable toon on union, and I like to have at least SOME chance when PvPing.

  12. well as said, a good rad/psi wont kill or be killed by regen. currently doing a lot of tests on defiant, cause of my regular duo as bs/regen (me) and rad/psi, not just PvP but PvE as well. Seeing we went to lvl 50 together, we know each other's build, playstyle and strengths/weaknesses quite well.

Doin a few lvl 50 arena fights these days and thusfar I win with relative ease but its getting harder n harder. However i blame this on the lack of PvP experience of the rad/psi.

Bottom line is, if you dont get a few lucky crits, you wont plant one. Been a while that you cant kill for a while, just some gentle taps, then get lucky and land a built-up crit headsplitter, taking away most of their health at once.

I reckon as soon as she gets enough experience in duelling, it will prolly be 0-0 ties all the way. Slows [censored] up a regen though most of times i manage to keep her at bay with caltrops + webnade long enough for me to get a hit in, interrupting the attack chain. After a while its just like watching the slo-mo scenes from baywatch over n over again :/

As for other builds breakdown, i'd agree with what imag said earlier.
  13. Well as title says I'm planning to run another STF this thursday at 8, seeing after all those attempts I still dont have that shiny "saved the world" badge on my scrapper.
Currently we have 4 definate members and a lot of reserves. Hence I can't make a accurate list of what we got and what we dont. The only definate ATs I can give is me on my BS/regen scrap (Anger Management) and my partner on her rad/psy def (Spunky Star).

Basic idea is to meet up at the boat at 8ish (give or take 5-10 mins) and form the team(s). Nukes and shivs aint required, nice to have, but dont go out of your way to get em. If enough people show up we might even be able to fit in 2 teams.

Hope some people are interested so we can start early without waitin too long with forming a team.
  14. repairmen arent really a threat... any aoe on the tower will just instant kill them. So 2 khelds in nova will kill em as soon as they enter.
  15. tbh, i dont think body mastery is a must have for scrappers.. Especially in PvP I think weapon mastery is an excellent choice for scrappers as well seeing it prevents your opponent from running away

Though I do agree APP are most of the times more powerful than PPPs. Would love to see the defender APP on corrs etc, just like phil said. Or at least some diversity amongst the different patrons. Then again, too big a difference between the patrons result you putting LOTS of thought into which patron to pick seeing you cant respec em..

everybody had their own plans and it seemed nobody was willing to listen to other's input. So instead of acting like a team it was each doing his own, and that just doesnt work on the STF

    [/ QUOTE ]

QFT! And I'm probably just as guilty of this when I'm tired/annoyed as anybody else... I remember being the bane of manys-a-defender's existence back when I was levelling my first scrapper:

"Darn Regens think they can just go off and solo the whole map... COME BACK HERE DAMMIT!!"

    [/ QUOTE ]

...but they can (says a regen who often had to solo a mish cause the defender was away )
  17. [ QUOTE ]
damn, i wanna fight players not some damn boss spiders.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ...welcome to the arena

its bit hard to see a PvP zone as pure PvP. tbh I'd rather see it as a PvE zone with the added risk of PvP. Think i'm one of the fair few that also go in WB to PvE...

...well let me rephrase that, I go there to hunt some mobs and any unsuspecting player I happen to come across (though for some reason rarely do the mishes in WB )
  18. aye, best bet is to drain if you're an elec. Been playing ill/ff for ages now (ever since EU launch..) and I can tell you forcebubble and dispersion bubble at same time is a huge end drain if you dont just wanna stand around doing ** all.
Even with both 3slotted endreduc and 3slotted stam, i still need to spam conserve power to prevent running out of end all the time. pre-ED it was a bit bearable with 6 endreducs in forcebubble..

So yeah, either drain him of all end, or kite with melee attacks. Though if he has aid self, the kiting wont help much. You wont be able to get a stun in (well, not unless the bubbler is standing still all the time). Seeing he will only have a fair bit of damage and no nasty side effects, he'll just heal up again. Of course you could hope you drain his end by his constant use of aid self
  19. aye I know it has been said in advance, and indeed 1 problem was the lack of communication.. everybody had their own plans and it seemed nobody was willing to listen to other's input. So instead of acting like a team it was each doing his own, and that just doesnt work on the STF
  20. added:
    Anger Management (bs/regen/weap scrap) and
    Spunky Star (rad/psi/power def)
  21. There were multiple flaws during that TF, not just the ones pointed out, as there are always multiple aspects to it. For example, not hugging together for vengeance, you could say people wouldnt hug together for vengeance, but on the other hand i dont think i saw it announced you were going to use it when someone planted.

Only thing i did was just attack tower trying to stay alive and one time pulling recluse away from it when the tank died and he came bolting towards us as I had DP/IH/vengeance running (oh and popping some purple insps of course ).

Yet when I died I didnt know to get up or not cause i was waiting whether or not vengeance was gonna be used. Not digging at anybody's performance here.. just saying that there are 2 aspects to any flaw. Don't know much bout that scatter myself tbh as I only had my eyes on that tower trying to take it down as much as i could before planting . And recluse's minions running all over the place doesnt really help in coordination either
  22. Cheers guys, indeed a pity we couldnt get recluse down but ah well, there are more opportunities at that.. only thing that was bit disappointing was me being the only one getting no recipes (at all ).

Anyway, would also like to send a big grats to Spunky Star for her first deviant 50, as she hit it a couple of minutes after the STF in the asylum
  23. queueing your attack and running through works like a charm..

..i should know cause i been at the receiving side a fair few times too many
  24. hey guys, just little update, seeing the signups are tad bit more than expected and theres still a lack of at least a tank in the team, I can't really give a definate team setup yet.

Also note we mainly do it for fun and xp rather than the badge. Hence its maybe best to just assemble at the boat and see what teams will be formed (especially if aero asks/brings some people as well).

For now, thanks for the show of interest

P.S. Asteria, think for now the kin is more needed than the scrapper from looks of it.

Its not that much to ask is it?

    [/ QUOTE ]

But it's the principle of the matter!

Give one person 5 minutes and next thing you know there's a care bear tea-party going on a top the globe!

    [/ QUOTE ]

See, it starts with 5 mins, and as said before you COULD go a lap through RV and come back, but then it'll be another 5 mins.. and another.. its not that, as said its the principle that counts. You just want to show a toon? Go to the arena/pocket D/both. Show in RV if you want, but dont whinge if you get attacked then.

As for PvPers sayin there shouldnt be any PvE there. I think a point is being missed here. Afaik the general consensus of the PvPers is, farm all you want there, just dont whine if you get attacked by another player cause it IS a pvp zone.
