I've been having frequent game crashing since I20.5 launched, I will try to describe the issue and then post specs to help in finding a solution. It happens on a timer, which isnt exact. I can play for so long untill the client crashes, which could be at any time. Busy fighting, standing still, loading into a tiny zone like ouro, it matters not. The crash is an instant screen freeze that I have to cntrl alt delete out of since I play in fullscreen, but it didn't stop my computer's normal functions. Lately (today) the crash has progressed to doing the same thing as usual then subsequently blue screening me.
I play other graphic intensive games on high and ultra settings just fine, including SC2 with it's horribly laggy engine that can't even handle it's own super high polygon count models. Only CoH is acting up, and only RECENTLY.
I ran the command in the OP, with this result:

Yes, I do have a six core processor, but I think for this issue only my graphics card is really important... I could be wrong.

Possibly you needed actual defense set bonuses to stand up to Romans and not just a mass recharge build? I dunno I'd never play a stand-still, um I mean Granite anything, but I have an Invuln tank and that's about identical on Smash/Lethal Resists and Defenses, and my Invuln does indeed have a build focused on defense bonuses; she does not die to Romans.

I guess I am really hopeless then. Maxing out the recov in stamina with 3 performance shifters or efficacy adapters (situational if you have too many 2.5% recov bonuses) means you need the 4th slot for the performance shifter proc, which is one of the most important IO's in most builds. I am pretty sure that if you plan to use a proc in stamina it will always be 4 slotted, there's little to gain from slotting it more and a lot to lose from slotting it less.
Also, not always do you need to gimp a build to hit 180% recharge or soft cap defenses. Getting defense where it is convinient and efficient, and doing likewise for recharge will get you a build that performs well at all times. A super defensive slotting leaves a lot lacking in recharge and dmg procs usually, which is counterproductive to farming. Likewise, a mass recharge build is often too squishy and relies on outside support, always needing lots of purple insps or requiring a body to Perma-Venge off of; Both usable strategies but not ones that I like myself or would recommend. An efficient well rounded build will function without relying on defense buffs and still pump out effective damage.
Finally if I could take the damage procs out of Blazing Aura and add them to my attacks WHILE STILL RETAINING the excellent set bonuses, then I would. Unfortunately I cannot 7 or 8 slot my powers, and thus adding damage procs into my damage aura to increase AoE DPS is the only option I have for them. I can understand possible arguments against the purple proc in Blazing Aura, but I want the set in Lightning Rod seeing as it is the shining power of Elec Melee, and I feel Lightning Rod is far too slow to warrant dmg procs. With a Cardiac helping on end costs it is feasible to move the 5 piece Armageddon (including the proc) into Blazing Aura and keep a second proc in the 6th slot; This allows you to slot Lightning Rod with another Oblit set for more defense. This setup is only better after you get the Cardiac, and is also more expensive inf-wise. -
This thread is for a friend who needs help building his Elec-Fire Brute. I will be editing the first post as needed rather than making a ton of replies to myself for every update. Two heads are better than one, or something... though I can't guarantee I'll implement anything posted here.
EDIT: With powersets like Elec Melee and Firey Aura, I thought it would be pretty obvious this build was for farming. If it wasn't inherently obvious, the power choices in the build REALLY give it away.
Here it is, I went ahead and enabled all the HP/END Accolades and picked a tier4 Cardiac for the build.

I had a funny idea that I decided to build on MIDs (badly) just to see if I would ever consider making it. I don't think I will but I felt compelled to post it on the forums. The idea is an Elec/Devices Blaster since both of those sets have a ranged pet you can summon, and then to take a villain epic with pets and make your own little squad of ranged damage. The best mastery on paper to do it with is Scorpion, since you get a great shield that will let you go a S/L def build and also get an AoE immobilize power which 1: accepts a great set for increasing S/L defenses and 2: is a godsend for a soloing Blaster to keep enemies away from you. Also the spiderlings accept the Achiles Heel proc, which I use in this build. I don't care much for Elec Blast so I didn't do very much with it, but the build is a haphazard attempt to get a lot of Recharge, some Def bonuses to S/L Def and Ranged Def, and still have some recovery to run the toggles.

Alright here's how I would build the character, doing a lot of things I like that other people might not. Using an epic power as part of your attack chain, check. Not taking Touch of Fear, check. Not using Kinetic Combats, check. Yes you can get more S/L defense with Kinetic Combat, but a 4 pack gives you a really pathetic excuse for an attack and it takes at least two more slots (6 slotting) anyways to fit in an enhancement to "fix" your attack and a dmg proc. I would really rather just use touch of death sets, if you have invincibility from one enemy you are sitting at less than 1% under soft cap Smash/Lethal def so I think it's fine. Surrounded all your typed defenses will be well over soft cap. It's got ice storm since that's what you requested, and although I only put Posi's Blasts in it you could go with Ragnarok for better bonuses, it's all about how much money you want to spend. The lv49 power is a one slot wonder, I picked a stealth power for the lotg 7.5% but you could take SS if you like builds having both SJ and SS, or your Unstoppable. If you want to be godlike in defense and have the cash you could buy the second 3% global def proc (the PvP one) and put it in Unstoppable, which would really help the build's survivability but man that is so much money to spend that I personally would never do it.

I saw this point and threw together a build real quick, I tried to satisfy both your main ideas with one build. Ninjutsu has some percept, so I took assault/tactics and with the percept IO you can be a stalker hunter, without sacrificing sharks and hibernoob as an epic. The slotting may not be the best in some situations, but it has good overall defenses with focus on range while still maintaining a build with both phase shift and hibernoob, as well as 32 mag KB protection. Feel free to adjust it if you think I messed anything up.

It's a lv50 all finished PvE toon I really like, and I'm mulling over the idea of making a 2nd build on it for PvP. A long time ago long before PvP changes I had a Dark-Psy that I could casually take into PvP and dominate with, but that character has long since been deleted. I know Ice Blast is certainly not up to snuff anymore in PvP (though I still love it for PvE), and am wondering if there is any hope for this build or even reason to spend the money and time on it.
As it stands now, I do not have a build set up. From what I've seen however I think I would like to take Soul Mastery for Power Boost, and to have another pet out with fluffy, I'm a little more focused on the build for arena rather than for zone. Something about running around stalker infested waters with my only self heal having an animation that just screams "hey AS me" doesn't thrill me. Feel free to disagree with that assumption, but I'm thinkin if this build has any hope, it will lie in arena and not in zone. If anyone has thoughts or even builds I'd be happy to hear em. -
So for a very long time when I first started playing this game, flares was bashed as one of the first attacks in the game. At some point it received a snazzy new animation, and after testing I determined that flares kicked the crap out of fire blast as the level 1 attack to take. Never looking back, I played my way through team after team, dominating, and instruction other fire Blasters to drop their fire blast in favor of flares.
Here's where it gets odd. I was teaming with someone who insisted on pain of death that fire blast had a higher DPA than flares. I started to wonder if I could have been wrong. Please note that at no point in the ensuing argument will I be using Arcanatime.
When I look at my powers on my Blaster, I see:
-Flares-
10.35 Dmg
1.00 Sec Animation
10.35 DPA
-Fire Blast-
13.88 Dmg
1.67 Sec Animation
8.31 DPA
There's an obvious winner there, especially when flares instant recharge makes it the perfect filler attack between other attacks for a smooth attack chain and sexy defiance boosts. Yet this other player persisted that fire blast was better and somehow had a 1.2 Sec Animation. I just didn't get it... but I think now I do.
...he was a Corruptor...
It would seem that according to him, all in-game sources, and MIDS, Corruptors (and Dominators) get a faster version of fire blast for no reason. This extends to every version of the power available in Epic Power Pools. It does indeed have a 1.2 Sec Animation, making it by and large the superior choice to flares especially with defiance taken out of the equation for them. So Blasters, the primary ranged damage class in the game, are the only ones with a nerfed version of this ranged attack power...?
Can I call BS on this? If my Blaster's fire blast was the same as everyone else's I would probably take it too. Is any of this in-game information wrong, or are Blasters getting the short end of the stick. -

My problem got worse. Yesterday after it did the fix I was able to log on and play, but today it did the exact same thing. Worse yet, was that when trying to do the fix it kept getting stuck on piggs/sound.pigg and it got so bad that I was left with only one option. Since nothing else worked I uninstalled the game and redownloaded the client from the site. It installed, starts downloading the file manifest, and... STILL GETS STUCK ON PIGGS/SOUND.PIGG! So now I cannot play the game, and don't know why, other than that everything worked fine two days ago, and everything went to hell with the patch yesterday.
Please note that I never have issues with the game client, ever. I also run it in administator mode but tried turning that off as well, to no avail. I'm a Vista 64bit user if that matters. -
Here's what happened to me. I started the client, tried to DL the patch, and it wigged the Fawk out on me. I had to cancel it and restart my comp, at which point my client decided it needs to fix coh.exe (therefore massive download and a lot of wasted time).
Sooooz I log onto my vent and ask my friends about the new patch "What patch?" So yeah, most people didn't have to download anything. A few unlucky suckers got hit with some glitchy stuff. I've heard other complaints about people seeing servers grey'd out and getting errors when their friends were online with zero issues. I don't know what's going on... -
I haven't used the forums much since their redesign, and I apparently can't find a tech support section anywhere, so this question is going here. I just got a new mouse, with a working scroll wheel that will let me scroll web pages, text documents, even windows in CoH, but it refuses to let me zoom in and out with it. I cannot find any option in game to fix this, and if I plug in my other mouse it spontaneously lets me zoom again.
So this non-zooming mouse was useless to me, and I swapped it out for a completely different brand and style of mouse: some Microsoft ARC somethin-or-other. Get this: same exact problem, same exact behavior. Now I start feeling like maybe it's an issue related to my computer but no matter what I try or what settings I change on the mouse, both in the standard Windows Vista control panel and in game, I cannot get it to let me zoom. Irritatingly every other effect of the scroll wheel works fine, even "Third Mouse Button" functionality, not that I need it for anything. I do not want to use keyboard keys to zoom, I am far too used to the convinience of a mouse wheel for that function, but I am also trying to upgrade to a new mouse and so far haven't had any luck. Anyone else have this problem or have an idea how I can get these mice to start behaving? -
So I have a lv35 DB/Dark Scrapper, the build is all planned out and looking good, and she's fun to play, but the way I am doing it I skipped Nimble Slash. According to information in-game, Weaken is a rather pathetic debuff, and Empower does next to nothing compared to just using Blinding Feint as often as possible. With that in mind I decided I would only use Attack Vitals and Sweep, and just throw Blinding Feint in between each combo.
I want to ask people out there who actually have DB toons if they do the same thing, or if maybe they use all the combos. Is there any merit to Empower at all, or is my current plan the best way? Well that, and if I have to pick up and slot another attack on the build I might cry from lack of slots. -
The lack of reliable mez protection in human form is the big problem for PBs and WSs. Why you may ask? Well it wouldn't be such a big deal, if these classes weren't counterparts to Forts/Widows and Crabs/Banes, which all boast more than enough mez protection, and much of it from their passive powers. Hmmmm interesting... PBs and WSs start with a passive power in their secondary that is rarely ever useful except as a one slot wonderslave for an IO. Maybe some minor mez protection could be added to that power, and maybe even some stronger more focused mez protection could be put into the various sheilds... y'know to try and not force me to carry all break frees on a character that is, and I play like, a regen scrapper with light melee and zero mez protection. You shouldn't be forced to take dwarf form and slot it up just to counteract mez's, human form should be viable on its own.

I have a friend who's MIDS is being screwy and he asked me to export the build to the forums so he can see it. I figure it might be useful to someone here. It's a PvE build believe it or not, but wouldn't take much modification to become a PvP build (it would need to pick up hibernate, and super speed).

What if I just accidentally happen to spam shockwave on the Pylon and it manages to keep knocking the 54s away from me. That's not breaking the rules right... it's just an AoE. I have the Pylon targeted-I'M NOT CHEATING... okay I am. I ended up using shockwave on the normal RWZ challenge.
