  1. THEY WERE GREAT! I was off this week so I tried them all out. and I LOVED THEM!!

I wish there was a way to save favorite missions so one can access them at a moment's notice instead of searching/typing.
  2. Thank you very much! I'll be sure to play them and leave comments!
  3. Can anyone recommend some really good ones for me? I've played some pretty decent ones bu for the most part they were rather short.
  4. It's a shame we can't alter the levels of the pre-made enemies. Like the Goldbrickers or the Spetnaz for example.
  5. I finally made a mission in AE that grants rewards and while the ratings pretty good, I've been innudated with complaints that it's too hard for a non-farm. I mean come on... If a player wants to be led by the hand in an AE mission, they should make one for themselves.
  6. I just wanted to ask first alright?
  7. I've been told by some people in-game that EB and AV can't have access to full auto while others claim otherwise. For awhile there was a huge shouting match last night in Liberty blue.

    So officially, what's the answer?
  8. * Supergroup Name: Storm & Phantom Investigations (SPI)
    * Website (if any): Storm & Phantom Investigations
    * Leader or Recruiting Officers: @GabrielNYC (Red Phantom, Thor Jackson, Avenging Skull, and the Blue-Spider) @Challenger Storm (Challenger Storm, OverBrain, Phantom Phoenix), @Michael Hellbane (Victor Victory, Tovarich, Alden Noir)
    * Preferred Method of contact: In-game email and regular email
    * Guild Description: "Justice is a right, not a priviledge" - The group was initially formed for just me and my friend Don but eventually we began to notice there were other pulp/noir inspired heroes running around. Naturally we recruited them.

Then Golden & Silver (WW2 & Cold War) age style heroes were being recruited as well. The most recent theme we've encompassed are the Weird West & Steampunk/Victorian heroes. For all intents and purposes, the Dauntless crew is considered to be a SG in a SG.

The unifying theme for genre specific ones were that almost everyone were time-lost and were seeking a way home. They joined SPI in order to find comfort with others who were time displaced and help in the efforts to bring everyone home.

Eventually friends of the new recruits were told how much fun we were and began to apply in droves. We were told how some players were disappointed they were with their groups (social neglect, ignoring requests for mission help for example) and as a result they were recruited as well. So far members have been happy.

We respect real life issues and commitments. If a member can't be on for a good part of a month, just a night or 2... It's not a problem. We don't care about team colors or rank. We're in it to indulge our inner geek, help others and be a family.
  9. the best when we got 8 werewolves. ive never seen so many heroes scatter so quickly!
  10. It was damn fun to watch though. In the midst of an intense street fighting them BOOM... ghouls come out!
  11. There is an interesting rumor going around. I've heard it mentioned by several others at least 7 times last night. I might've seen it happen. I'm not too sure. I'll check it tonight when I'm back from work.

Supposedly the doors, when Trick or Treating, will swing open 2 or 3 times allowing more monsters come out.

Out of curiosity, I follow one group (but I didn't join) to a door near the hospital and watch. 4 of the heroes were standing pretty far from the door so the "hand" wouldn't be in range of the door. Then one hero opened the door and out came out 3 vampires, 2 witches and 2 werewolves.

Eventually the fight spilled out to the street and it was cool as hell to watch. It was like a horror version of the street fight in Big Trouble in Little China. Anyway, I saw the doors swing one more time and a slew of zombies & ghosts poured out.

Eventually the fight ended and the next hero opened the door. More zombies and 2 werewolves come flying out. 5 minutes later, the fight ends. This time the doors do not open again

Could this be a glitch or is programmed to randomly happen?
  12. sayterra's right. most artists get better with age but liefeld... look at his run on Hawk & Dove. GREAT art but then... ehhh

So can someone define a steampunk character for me?

Like is it just someone who uses the steampunk options for the creator or is it more then that?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The steampunk genre, contrary to what some ppl. may claim is NOT of dystopic ideals. It's high adventure, clockwork/steam driven apparatus used in every day life and war. It's also about embracing Romanticism to the fullest (not romance but Romance with a capital R as in the social/literary movement). With elements from HG Wells, Jules Verne and historical fiction thrown in for good measure. Most of it set in Europe like England or France but it's set in the United States (such as the genre "weird west" to some degree")

The are even bands that have a "steampunk/victorian/edwardian" feel to them like Abney Park (Road?)or Rasputina

    Examples -
    - Wild Wild West (the bad guy and the giant mechanical spider).
    - The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen comic to some degree.
    - the old RPG Castle Falkenstein

  14. ImmortalWarrior those are amazing designs. I've been wracking my brains trying to figure out what to do with that lion symbol. You wear it well!

Oooh ooh, I want to be part of the mess too!

OP is a big stupid dumbhead with purple toes and a 5 way slackpie that he feeds to his lulzhounds. He should zip up his stromberries and flap on back to grumpyvale.

Regardless of whether the OP thinks he's right or not, the fact of the matter is that he's completely ruined any hope he ever had for finding a new artist to use here. It's pointless to continue the fight, unless he *really* likes the taste of his foot. Get up, move on and try elsewhere.

I like the *elsewhere* part the best.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ahh..? Okay. Purple toes! I better see a podiatrist then!
As for angry manlove, sorry ladies. A man's bait & tackle holds no interest for me!
  16. dude, i never said you were harassing me in private.
  17. I realize I should've been more tactful. But when I got some really disgusting emails, I lashed out and got defensive. Lord knows I tried to be rational but I kept thinking back to some horror stories I heard about the crap artists & writers went through. I let that stuff get to me which caused me to lose my temper. Let's say some of the stories would make you retch.

I'm a fan of score cards... let's look at the chronology here..

-OP comes and requests a comic done for free... and then insults the previous artists working on it.
-People say they understand his passion, but that his wording was wrong.
    -OP defends his position.
-I say that 200 hours of work should equal pay.
-OP says that doing work for free is a comon part of comics.
-OP PMs me and rants... and then asks me not to reply.
-OP posts on here askin people not to PM him.

Ok, that about does it so far.

    What's next?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I admit my wording was wrong. I should've been clearer in the initial posting. For that I apologize to everyone. I'm also apologetic for being cranky and being embittered by my three recent bad experiences.

Other writers here have emailed me that certain artists are a temperamental lot and that I shouldn't have let those 3 most recent events get to me. There will always be writers & artists who give the rest a bad name. I'm sorry for being so standoffish. Some artists even told me some horror stories they went through with other artists and writers.

Juggertha, I asked people to stop sending me harassing messages through my regular email address not through PM here. Why did you say I asked ppl. to not PM me?

I asked you to not respond to me because your attitude from the beginning towards me was uncalled. If you responded differently instead of being snarky, things would've been different. I never said I was good enough that I should have people give me pages for free. Where did you get that from?

As for insulting the artists, if you want a sample of how the art got worse near the end, I'll send you the link. If you want copies of the email from the artist who thought himself better than any regular DC artists, I'll be happy to fwd. them to you. I cannot put up with anyone

I find it immature that someone compares himself to Alex Ross or Gene Ha. I mean, Gene Ha! Come on! The man is a god! Alex Ross! What can one say about his art?

Putting up with constant emails about how "he sucks and his photo-realistic art is uncalled for comics" is quite tiring. I rather be honest about people like that.

I also am honest with art that's really good. Like your art. It's damn good, juggertha. I like it so much I would work for you pro bono and promote the hell out of it to other writers and artists. I would never ask for a penny.

Should one lie about how bad someone had gotten over the months or should they be honest about it? I've seen too many artists and writers deal with people whose smug attitudes have ruined potentially awesome projects.

well thats the thing. i did pay for the web comic pages even though most other writers/artist do not pay for them. generally speaking, web comics arent paid for. only the printed stuff.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So you did pay, but now you feel it's not worth paying? Are you just mad about some deals gone bad (possibly), or do you feel that the artists on this forum don't deserve to be paid (possibly)?

    [/ QUOTE ]

For some reason my response didnt post.

    okay, here it is again.

Yes, I would work on something for free. I've done so before and will continue to do so. If the artist is really passionate about his idea, and is willing to answer questions I have about his project and etc, I am more than willing to do it for free.

You got something? Send it to me and I'll come up with a 2 page idea for you. You like some parts and want it expanded? I'll do it. ALL for free. You don't like how a character came off and want it revised, I'll do it for free.

I never SAID the artists dont deserve to be paid. I have very low funds currently. So a printed comic is out of the question for the moment. The pages would've been put online as most starting comics are done.

When the story is finished, by that time I would have the money to pay the artist even though web comics arent generally paid for. Before then I would've faxed over a legal contract which guarantees the artist would be paid.

Then when any sales are made from the printed book, the artist would be paid.

Someone asked me if the art of the first artist was bad, why did I keep paying him? I kept paying him because I was told that the next page would be better. Maybe I should've quit while I was ahead when I was being inundated with excuses but hey, I was optimistic.

And that's that. I'm done talking about this. I admit I came off as vague and slightly embittered in my post but also certain responses and emailed flames were immature.

The next person to send me a flame via my private email will be reported for harassment to the proper authorities.
  20. well thats the thing. i did pay for the web comic pages even though most other writers/artist do not pay for them. generally speaking, web comics arent paid for. only the printed stuff.

If its commonplace to trade services for free at those other sites, why not ask over there?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I already did ask before . But ComicJobz was pulled last year (due to some supposed scandal. something about the owner being involved in some shady business.)and I am still going through submissions from ComicSpace. Dont assume I didnt!

someone delete this thread. too many people are misunderstanding my post. I wish i didnt delete the follow ups which explained why i was requesting for help on a comic (which are generally done free on the web) and how the schedule was very relaxed. I sent the whole script and only asked for one page a month. not a week like other tyrannical writers.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
I'm working on my own comic right now. I'm writing it. I'm drawing it. And I'm coloring it.

    I'm on page 2.

Each page, from concept to finish, takes me about 8 hours.

I plan to have between 20-25 pages.

    That's about 200 hours.

200 hours for MY dream, MY vision... I hope I can do it.

200 hours for someone else's dream... for no pay... I find that insulting actually.

Imagine walking up to someone on the street and asking them to work for you for 200 HOURS for no pay.

How many times would you be a) ignored, b) laighed off, or c) told to frack off?

200 hours at my 'normal rate' (my day job) would net me about $10,000. Would you ask a plumber to come to your house and work 200 hours for free? Would you ask a lawyer to take your case and work 200 hours for free? Why would you ask an artist to do the same? Do you value their skills less?

Most here on the forums know I am both an artist AND a collector. I love art... but I respect the people who make it too much for me to insult them like this.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Then you havent been to comicspace or comicjobz when it was common place requesting unpaid writing or drawing help for web comics that are presented online. believe it or not, some people have actually wrote and draw stuff for free. I have written stuff for free for many artists before because I loved their work and the ideas they had.

as for comparing something like web comic help to a lawyer's job or a plumber is a very glib comparison.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
LOL, oh man. This is a train wreck.

You get what you pay for, m'kay?

I paid them on time all the time. "M'kay?"

Actually I did find paying per page a lot easier than panel... My mind tends to wander and I get easily distracted. I used to pay 50 to 70 bucks per page before hand and if the artist did an exceptionally good job, Id pay an extra 20 bucks. But the last 2 artists.. eh I rather be honest and not lie to other writers if I'm asked about the work.

But it is what it is. Too many bad apples from both sides ruin it for the rest of those trying to claw out a living.

    [/ QUOTE ]

ok yeah i hear ya, but just remember we can't talk digits on the forums.

But i get it. Did you get to review what the artists were doing? and approve the pencils? Or did you just go into this all blindly? Damn i need to get on with that guide lol

    [/ QUOTE ]

I did review the art and I was suitably impressed. But then the work began to slack and then the delays... Eh. But enough my misery!
