As you've seen, visual updates for signature characters often coincide with major new storyarcs involving those characters (for example, the Praetorian storyline at the heart of GOING ROGUE). So Art would have to get a plan from Design before it really makes sense to massively rework those characters.
Which characters might Design have in its sights? I'll never tell, but I do like your ideas about new shinies.

I loved this movie so much! It was everything I was hoping for. The Avengers movie next year is going to blow me away.
Then again, I might be biased.. after all, Captain America is one of my favorite Marvel heroes. -

That seriously needs to be the official login screen image or at least something along those lines. Maybe with them all in the same art style.. but I think you nailed it. You should definitely PM this to a community rep. This needs to be Freedom's login screen image.

The detail she puts into this little guys is outstanding... and now with actual glowing eyes?!

I've found a work around for this that has been very effective. Pass the star to someone else.. Granted I guess this wouldn't work on TFs or trials, but it should work on anything where you can freely pass the star around.
Just remember to pass the star back before the missions ends so your team doesn't exempt down well below the original leader. (guilty of having this happen) -
