Sure, she got fame and fortune. But it came at the cost of adopting the persona of a lunatic and being famous for horrible auto-tuned garbage instead of the much better and more emotional performance seen in the video.

Every new fact I learn about him makes me wish I'd known him better. And I think this is an entirely appropriate place to post links to charitable organizations that are working to prevent this sort of tragedy.

PS For those who itemize their tax deductions, charitable contributions made before the end of the year (which is practically here) can count as a deduction on your 2011 return.

PPS The above PS applies only to US taxpayers. I have no idea what other countries' tax rules are.

Edit: Because I forgot what year it was.
  3. Grats. And you actually have the market and merit buttons visible?
  4. I know that sometimes the trial being run will be subject to change, but that's usually depending on the level of interest (ie, "Going to run Lambda, might switch to BAF if we get enough attention.

I would also point out that wanting to know what trial is run is not simply a matter of wanting to avoid 'hard' trials. If the character I'm considering joining on is already t4'ed on everything I'm only going to be interested in the newer trials or run for badges that I don't have.
  5. I usually turn bosses on once I finally realize that they're turned off. I still haven't gotten used to them being off by default.

There do seem to be exceptions to this. Dark Watcher and Lady Grey (for example) both have origins that are either entirely unknown or just rumors.

I found the entry on the KoA in paragonwiki, and this did catch my eye.

The Knives of Artemis is an all-female mercenary group, and has a reputation as one of the deadliest paramilitary groups in the world. The Knives are often seen as an extension of the Malta Group, and are enlisted for high-level security functions, or to engage in surgical strike operations.

I think I can work the Malta angle in there somehow and still have a connection with the KoA.
If you have access to cosmetic surgeons (originally part of the Science Booster pack but now available seperately on the market) you can easily set the character up with a gender reassignment.
  8. I think the 'slow' combat is actually a plus. The 'slow' combat puts a lot more emphasis on tactical planning than say, a game designed for a console instead of a computer.

And today, lined up through a doorway were 3 minions. I could start the fight with Piercing Rounds and hit all 3.

I assume this will never happen again, so I wanted to note it.
I'll have to see a screenshot to believe this.

And the big blue jerk bluntly tells us that the "coming storm" is the Batallion.

PS The letter writer is the Center. Compare his speaking style from Viridian's Arc (where he clearly shows himself to be the smartest man in the room) and the the Hero Tip (in the 30s) A Cloud of Odorous Smoke (In which he claims to have given, through the Midnight Squad, the information needed to stop the shadow shard from being planted and says you should be grateful to him for keeping Requiem in check.)

There are few things we know about Center. He is a mutant, but has no combat abilities. He has been gathering powerful forces under his control (all of old 5th column bosses) but hasn't revealed his plans for these forces (the TF's and Arcs associated with the council are about his subordinates pursuing their own agenda.) The Writer also has been gathering superhumans (Ajax and Protean at the least.)

The Writer claims to have been the one to supply the Midnight Squad with the crystal needed to access Cimerora. The Center would have a motive for getting them a crystal as a means of getting some metahumans back in time to stop Requiem (and other Nictus) from establishing such an early foothold.

Also, he never invites Nemesis to anything.
  11. Unless I'm doing something (TF or trial) that actually requires teaming I'm usually soloing. That way I can play along at my own pace, get up and go do something else as the need arises, etc.

If you ask "can I join your team" or "wanna team up" I'm probably gonna just say no thanks unless it's someone I know. I just don't see the point of teaming for the sake of teaming (it's my personality folks, sorry.)

If I'm asked something along the lines of "Can you help me kill Nosferatu?" then I'm fairly likely to go and help if I'm able to. Teaming in order to accomplish specific goals is a different matter entirely and I'm usually willing to help people over rough patches.

If I get a blind invite, I just decline. If I get a second blind invite without a tell then it's ignore list time cause at that point you're interfering with my playing by making a little box pop up without even asking.

I can also add that only when I'm playing a tank do people actually seem to get angry at me for turning down invites.
  12. A quick (though not always reliable) rule of thumb that I use is that if you are a big damage dealer yourself then radial with some strong buffs (such as the carnival seneschal's forge) can increase your own damage more than another attack pet is worth. Masterminds should take care on this one as many of the raidal buffs are applied only to the player and not to henchman, making the seneshcal metioned earlier nearly useless to an MM.

If you yourself as a low damage dealer (tanks, most defenders, controllers*) and don't need the heals from some of the radial pets the you should defintely go with the core pets.

Of course, personal taste is probably a more important guideline than anything else if you're not a min/maxer.

    * I realize that controllers can be built to be high damage dealers, but they'd still probably be better off with the Core pets since you can buff them with fulcrum shift or what have you and get more damage out of them than you would by getting buffs for youself.

This is not a given, mind you, because it's possible that there may be cones out there that count as melee or ranged, but I can't think of any off-hand.
PBAOE and Cone close attacks aren't very well standardized as far as their vectors. Take spines for an example: Spineburst and Quills have an AoE vector, but Ripper (a cone) has a melee vector. Whirling axe from the Battle Axe set is a PBAOE much like Spineburst (though with a small area) but it has a melee vector. It may be that all meleecones have a melee vector (I looked a bit and didn't find an exception.) It may be that PBAOE's are tagged as aoe or melee depending on the the size of the sphere involved with small areas like Whirling Axe or Whirling Hands being tagged as melee and larger spheres like Spineburst or Footstomp being tagged as AOE.
  14. Here's my theory: The OP was a VIP at the time he started Ramiel's arc. Between the time of accepting the mission and cutting back to premium he lost access to incarnate content and to Ramiel as a contact. That the mission itself remained is definitely a bug. A GM can probably abandon or autocomplete the mission for you, but you won't be able to continue in the arc unless you return to being a VIP.

PS My 'read the whole thread' skill kicked in after I made this post. But at least my post pretty much sums up what has gone before.

If you are doing enough ticks of damage even when solo many of your own orange numbers won't show up on screen. If I'm playing my fire/storm corruptor with both rains hitting even a fairly small number of mobs I will often not see the numbers from my other attacks (including the big hitters like fire breath). If the rain's are scourging it gets even worse.

Would you pay those 110$ to 200$ for me? Ahhh... dont forget that I have two accounts... That means 220$ to 400$.
Daaaaaamn. I may start a smuggling operation to get small electronic goods into Brazil. Being served flaming meat on a sword while there would make it a plus.
  17. Per Paragonwiki:

Lore Slot Abilities are powers placed in the Lore Slot of the Incarnate System. The Lore Slot Abilities are Click Powers which summon one or more controllable pets to your side at -1 to your level, but inherit any Level Shift or Incarnate Shift you possess.

    Source:

    http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Lore_Slot_Abilities

I honestly can't recall myself whether or not this has always been the case, but the 'Historical' section at the bottom of the linked page does't indicated that there was ever a change and the folks that work on the wiki are usually on the ball.
  18. Shivan Shard: Don't leave home without it.
  19. Something that should be noted is that since Galaxy City's destruction Mender Silos has some changes in his dialogue in Pilgrim's arc. After sending you to fight Shivans in Atlas Park he admits to being puzzled as to why the Atlas (Green Goo) Shivans are so different from the Galaxy (Molten Rock) Shivans.

So either he has always had less knowledge of the future than he claims or things have already been altered by Ouro or some other agency to the point that his knowledge is becoming less accurate. Or he's really the same old Nemesis who's been screwing with us as part of his wheels within wheels plans (The letter writer says that's the case, though he/she can't really be considered reliable at this point either.)

PS The Battalion seem to be making their way through space taking what they can and moving on. That begs the question: What big nasty thing are THEY trying to stay ahead of?

Ugh. I remember fighting him in the days before EB's existed. Fortunately for me I was a controller and the purple triangles of doom didn't exist yet either. So I did manage to solo him, but it was a looooooong fight.

  22. I really wonder how this pack will be priced (not that it matters to me personally since I already grabbed it as a freebie.) It's a pretty small number of new models and it's only useful for one freakin' power set. I WOULD like to see a big weapons pack with new models for all of the weapon types. Now that would be nice.
  23. Those authenticators are generally just little doo-dads to make you feel more secure. What we really need are authenticators that jab your finger for a tiny bit of blood and run a DNA scan before allowing you to log on. If you have an evil twin this won't be much use, but it's surefire for the rest of us.

Jake would have told me to smile and to be happy. He would have said not to cry for him, but to do something fun and to live life the best way possible. On this Christmas Eve, please be merry with your family and friends. Try not to sweat the small things. Try to be as happy and healthy as you can. And remember to love with your whole heart.

I will miss him so much. Thank you again for all of the kind words and support, his family is extremely touched by it.
Please let his family know that there are lots of people who've never even met Jacob outside of this little game who are missing him and that they are in our thoughts. When Masque broke the news to us in game a bit ago most of us hardly knew what to say. A couple of us (me being one) freely owned up to tearing up as the news sank in. It's hard to accept that someone who should have had so much life ahead of him is gone.
