Quote:I think we need to seriously address this Love Train Office Party thing with the Dev team. Who's with me?You don't know what they are doing. Something they did at some point didn't work as they intended, so they are trying something else.
That's great, but unless Zwill came in with a bag of new 8 terabyte solid state drives and they all started dancing around the office singing Love Train, I wouldn't call it an upgrade.
We have "server upgrades" at work, and you'd be shocked how often it results from someone saying "hey, look what I found in the closet." -
-
Quote:So you're saying yesterday morning they decided, "Hey, yknow, let's move the servers just in case.''Actually I'd say "yeah" they DIDN'T know.
This is a HARDWARE move. It was just spelled out in the UStream as to what was going on here.
They JUST upgraded a couple weeks ago. I HONESTLY don't think they'd have planned two successive hardware upgrades this close together. It makes no sense. Either from a financial perspective OR a work-process standpoint.
Clearly indicating why they wouldn't be able to notify people at the beginning of the week. Via email.
I find this scenario very believable. -

Quote:Fact is it is irresponsible to not announce something of this magnitude via email days prior to implementing it.Okay. Let's deal with facts.
The fact is, that Paragon is trying to bolster the infrastructure of the game so that it can handle higher loads.
The fact is, you're paying for access to the service during all times NOT designated as maintenance windows or accidental downtime during crashes.
The fact is, despite noises to the contrary, you're NOT entitled to any compensation for downtime of ANY sort.
The fact is, this large maintenance window is going to happen sooner or later. It's more sensible that it happen now (as soon as possible), rather than taking it down later during the F2P push and alienating MORE users (and gaining a reputation amongst new players for inordinate amounts of downtime).
The fact is, if you're unsatisfied with the service YOU CAN STOP PAYING FOR IT. Whining and griping about something that has to happen achieves nothing. -
Quote:Shut up. They really LIKED that watch.Isn't this like 9 server upgrades in a row? That means that either they are in there installing advanced AI or the original upgrade was running the servers on a calculator wristwatch circa 1982.
Can't we just call them repairs or something?
"Today we are bringing JoJo the idiot circus boy back in for server repairs. This time we will beat him if he tries to use a blender as a harddrive again." -
-
A downtime of this magnitude should have been announced via email.
Do not for for one second believe they didn't know they'd be doing this for some time. -

I have 2 characters just taking up slots for Titan...

It's back up. Next topic?

Quote:<-- has spent probably hundreds of hours 'sitting on thumbs' for builds or waiting for hardware or waiting for the router guy to show up or...True. And Saturday afternoon is as much of a prime time as Friday night. That's why it should have been Saturday early morning.
As for the rest of it... I assume that you've never been any sort of work environment where the words "mission critical" mean "I don't care who you are or how long it takes"? It's standard operating procedure in many fields, and far from the "unconscionable" that you make it sound. -
Just for the record coming in on the weekend is actually game industry SOP. NOT coming in on the weekend is weird.

Quote:Both confront and lightning clap just kind of evolved into place as I kept ending up on point.. I was using LC as mitigation if i got in way to much trouble. I suppose it can be replaced but really.. with what? The most effective way to stay alive is to add defensive set bonuses. In the case of Invulnerability, you should be striving for 32.5% or 45% smashing, lethal, energy, and negative defenses with 1 target in range of Invincibility, depending on your budget and build goals.
If this build is for PvP, ignore this post. I don't care for it and I don't know the mechanics behind PvP builds. If it is for PvE, your build has a lot of room for improvement.
The most effective way to add offensive power is to add recharge bonus so you can use your best attacks more often.
You do NOT need extra knockback protection. Invulnerability has enough built in to Unyielding.
Using a mule set in a power (like in Jacob's Ladder) should be avoided unless your build is fairly complete. Call of the Sandman just made it not worth the time to use Jacob's Ladder.
Impervium Armor is a bad choice of set. Use 4 Reactive Armors instead so you can build up your S/L and E/N defenses.
You don't need Confront on a Scrapper, unless you are trying to do something unusual with it, like tank Lord Recluse on a regular basis.
Gift of the Ancients is not a good choice for defensive powers. Just use four LOTGs instead.
Lightning Clap has an AoE knockback component. This is bad to use on teams because it scatters enemies so that teammates can not use their AoE powers after you scatter them. I wouldn't include AoE knockbacks in most builds.
Your travel power is taken very late and won't be available if you exemplar to do a task force.
Unstoppable should not have more than the base slot. It has a horrible crash and probably shouldn't be used in the first place. Unstoppable does make a good mule power for a Steadfast Protection 3% defense, so you can slot Resist Physical Damage better.
Work on getting your defenses up to what I mentioned in the first paragraph. If you only go for 32.5% defenses, you will need small inspirations for the tougher fights but you will have more room in your build for recharge bonuses. Look at other Invulnerability builds to see how others achieved similar goals. -
Quote:Wow how'd I miss this? That's new to me and SUPER usefull thanks!Titan Sentinel allows you to extract a build from the game while it is running. Makes it much easier than trying to manually enter the build in Mids.

Gah I actually have Oblit's not sandmans in ladder.. I was just looking at it before I posted and um.. forgot to fix it..
-
So I'm trying to get the most bang for my buck out of this Scrap.
I'm going for damage and defense mostly here.. yeah I know, not optimal power set but that's what I want.
Any advice/notes would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. One other thing, I can throw a couple hundred more mil at this build but I'm not looking to crazy purple/pvp set it out or anything.

Quote:I'll be shocked if they don't have almost exact copies of purple sets in the store. It's a total cash cow. People WILL pay for things with real money because they are lazy. You can buy +1 stuff in some F2P games stores. YOU START with +1 gear and people buy them, with points.I don't think we'll see true IOs on the market, but I would put money (or Paragon Points lol) on Enhancements that are similar to those that were given out with the Gamestop Preorder for GR.
Here's a cut and paste of what they entailed:
Exclusive Enhancements: The five exclusive Enhancements increase the damage and recharge value of a character power and have a small chance to trigger an additional ability. The Enhancements and their additional abilities are:
* Will of the SeersChance for minor psi damage.
* Clockwork EfficiencyChance for minor energy damage.
* Might of the EmpireChance for knockdown.
* Resistance TacticsChance for minor smash damage.
* Syndicate TechniquesChance for minor lethal additional ability triggered.
These Enhancements are only available to newly created characters. Each new character will receive one of each Enhancement. They cannot be sold, stacked, or traded. These Enhancements are equivalent to a Security Level 20 Dual Origin Enhancement.
Since these were already made available for a price, I can see similar be added for th item shop. Probably similar added for every 10 levels or so.... -
You can pretty much 100% bet there will be things in the store available for purchase in game with inf.

Quote:That's actually quirk of the search system. Keep hitting search.Virtue on red side is a ghost town compared to when I started...
Each time I log in I use team search to see how many are on. When I started, march 2006 fyi, there was an average of 450 villains on a week night and 700 average on the weekend. For the last 6 months to a year search has yielded less than 50 villains average per night. -
Quote:This trial is Too HARD!!!If you heal the two moderate ticks, which isn't problematic, the last one won't kill the one being disintegrated, unless they do something stupid, like stay near Anti-Matter.
A tray full of greens makes this iTrial relatively easy.
Knowing that Regen and Heal is king in the KIR (like it is in the Hami Raid), you make sure you keep up a healing bubble, fill your tray with greens, and you slot Rebirth.
Or, on day one of a new Trial/TF are we going to get the usual "Too HARD!!!" rants (I know the OP is just talking about this one mechanic, but, really, it falls under the same rubric).
In a week people will be advertising 'Speed KIRs'.
Actually I just thought it was tedious and badly designed, and I doubt I'll be doing it again so I'l just stick with that.
