Quote:This is what I come up with in determining the chance of a given number of ticks from a 75% proc:Edit: If correct, and if I did my math right, that would mean you have the following odds of each number of damage ticks.
0 Ticks: 25%
1 Ticks: 18.75%
2 Ticks: 14.25%
3 Ticks: 10.547%
4 Ticks: 7.910%
5 Ticks: 23.730%
It doesn't seem like that lines up with reported observations, since it makes five ticks the most likely outcome.
0 Ticks: .25 = 25%
1 Ticks: .75 = 75%
2 Ticks: .75^2 = 56.25%
3 Ticks: .75^3 = 42.18%
4 Ticks: .75^4 = 31.65%
5 Ticks: .75^5 = 23.73%
The largest difference of course being that the chance for 1 Tick doesn't need to be determined mathematically - that's already been given to us - 75%
I haven't a clue how you got the above numbers - nor do I have a clue if my own are correct - could somebody page Arcanaville to set us all straight? -
Quote:However going VIP for a month *would* grant the ability to use /tell, /trade, etc. that the OP expressed an interest in - as well as add those 400PP.Game time cards do not translate into paragon points. Unless you count getting 400pp a month from them. Which most people would not.
R_M's Guide to Getting Cheap Months has some excellent and potentially viable ways to do that in this situation.
I realize this isn't an ideal solution, or even the solution the OP was originally looking for - however I think VIP is a great value even without using these tips and tricks, and should be seriously considered by anyone with more than a passing interest in the game -
/agree with all above posts
yeah, this is considered an offensive toggle, as are all the taunt auras for the Tanker Primaries and Brute Secondaries- this is why I always run RTTC as the first on the list on my /WP Brute so I can easily see when it drops to reapply it. one of those nasty facts of life, I'm afraid.

Quote:Meh. Inf rains from the sky in paragon. I only bother finding a bucket to hold it when I want it.
Quote:This isn't just rain. This is a flood of biblical proportions! This is "get purples and PvPs for every character you have now, and every character you will ever create".
I understand the mechanics of using the market to make money...however I find the effort of actually *doing it* to have approximately the same fun-factor as making music by dragging my nails across a chalkboard. I get the same results (IO's on characters) - it just takes longer, but I get to have more fun in the process. Your mileage can and obviously will vary -
The arcs available from the contacts in Grandville on the whole have some very exceptional writing, and are doable either solo or in a group. I've been concentrating on those primarily with my (now 47) Night Widow.
Other options include Strike Forces (assuming you can find a team), all of the Rikti War Zone Content, Cimerora and the ITF, and of course Ouroboros. In my personal experience this is one of the most content-rich parts of the game, especially redside. -
My suggestion (which I'm sure is going to draw fire *waves to the flamers*) is to lay hands on as many AE Tickets as possible, then convert them to random common salvage at 8 tickets per drop - There are great places to get thousands of tickets in a relatively short time already in the game...let's call them...Fun Activities for Raising Money and Stuff...yeah...that'll work

Quote:I didn't think we got Coalition chat until later, but I could easily be wrong... my recollection at launch was that an SG got you the ability to change your costume to SG colors via SGmode (that's all SG Mode did), and SG Chat. That's it.Super Groups existed from the start of the game, but the only thing being in one granted you was SG chat, coalition chat, and the ability to change your costume to the SG colors and symbol. Which, by the way, could never be changed to anything else. I was in a SG from the beginning that the leader thought it was funny to pick black and hot pink as the SG colors... later he wished he hadn't, but it was too late. ^_^

Quote:Sadly, these days that can just as easily indicate one of the following:I should have gone back and explained but was too lazy to edit that one of the deaders had 33 months of vet rewards.
Now I won't say it wasn't possible that the person on the vet account wasn't an actual vet player but I expect a certain basic level of game knowledge from a player when I see that many vet badges.
1. I bought this account on eBay!
2. I dropped a bunch of cash on Paragon Points!
without actually being a fundamental measure of the amount of time or knowledge the player in question actually has about the game -
Quote:Actually, they're painting the Praetorian Hamidon as the coldblooded killer in this case - Shadowhunder was killed by the Praetorian DE, not the player.Nice of the devs to paint every single hero as a coldblooded killer.

Quote:This is a correct description of the way that Radio/Newspaper missions work - playing primarily as a redsider I can confirm that you swtich from 3 to 5 missions at Sharkhead and above, which is the 1st lvl 20 zone.I experimented with this a few weeks ago and IIRC found out: If you stay in Steel where the top Mobs are level 19, you can get radio missions there according to Steel's rules (3 then Bank) until level 22 (19+3).
But, if you move to Talos Island at level 20, you will be playing by its rules and need 5 radio for the Bank. Radio missions will be offered to you in Talos with a top mob level of 27 through level 30 (27+3).
Unless my memory is badly failing, that is how it worked for me then.
I have also corrected the Wiki -
Quote:This is an excellent point - a more critical element of this: this actually frees up a whole slot from the traditional 3 50 Rech IO slotting of things like Hasten and Buildup - 2 50+5 Rech IO's do 99.9% (math not exact) of the same thing, leaving that 3rd slot available to use elsewhere to gain an additional set bonus (on my Fire/WP Brute for example it meant the difference between 5 and 6-slotting Tactics with Gaussian's, for example)Heres a little tip that some may not know.
You can add the effect of the enhancement booster in Mids.
When you click on a IO to change or slot it and the new window pops up. Hover over the Io and use the -/+ key to up it. You will then see it say something like 50+5 on the left hand side, and you will also be able to see the values change. You have to click on the Io for it to take place.
Doing this you can see that all you really need is a 50+5 and a 50+2 IO to max out a power like hasten or Stamina, unless you just what to squeeze out a little more like on a perma (whatever) build. -
the only thing that seems to be falling here is the sky...

Thank you all for the wonderful input - I did in fact end up choosing TW for my powerset purchase...as for the secondary I've paired it with for my first character out of the gate?
Well, I decided to be a little contrarian and try something I've seen nary a mention of...Inv...I'll post back on occasion as I level to let you guys know how it goes... -
Quote:This brings up an important point - anytime you use a power from your Secondary when using a weapon-based Primary (like Katana), you put your weapon away - forcing you to endure a Redraw animation the next time you attack, which can drastically cut your ability to react to changing conditions.I don't know which is better per se, but having played both sets (Regeneration to 14, Willpower to 29 and counting), Willpower is easier.
Willpower is a Set And Forget set with layered defenses (about 5% Defense, 50% resistance to the most common damage types, and a whole lot of regeneration), but no real "Emergency" heals like most melee defense sets have. Regen, on the other hand, is almost nothing but "Emergency" heals and very little anything else (about 10% damage resistance), so you have to keep a close eye on your health and consciously heal yourself whenever it starts to flag (which it will a lot, because you're taking almost full damage from everything).
Some people like to be more involved in their defense, some like to just focus on attacking. If you're the former, then you'll probably like Regen; otherwise, you'll probably find Willpower more to your liking.
Both sets, fortunately, have Quick Recovery, which will mean you'll have very little endurance problems, regardless of which you choose.
Willpower = not clicky = almost no Redraw
Regen = very clicky = constant Redraw
Now, Kat/Regen is survivable with the Def bonus from Divine Avalanche, but...having played a Kat/Regen Scrap to 50, then deleting it...I can tell you from experience that Redraw Gets Old -
Quote:All trueIn general Musculature is best for Scrappers, Dominators, and Blasters. For other ATs alphas that have either rchg or end are typically better. Brutes are a huge example of this because of their low base damage and fury, Musculature does very little for them, however Spiritual or Agility can be great for saving slots and improving dps or cardiac so you don't have to focus slotting towards +end and +recovery.
Since OP is a scrapper, Musculature is definitely a good option. However I'd say you could go either Core or Radial and it would work. The 12% higher dmg on the core side can easily keep pace with the radial side even for an elec/elec scrapper. What makes musculature great is the damage, the other things it enhances are pretty minor in comparison.- I only suggested the Radial side for the "two birds with one stone" effect of getting both Damage for the "Kill it Quick" playstyle and End Mod for the "Sapper" character concept the OP is going for

Quote:Interfaces have a stacking cap, and it applies no matter who cast it. It's either four or five stacks, depending on the power. So...
This is why I plan on multiple Interfaces on all my characters, once they release the solo path (I am not a fan of most of the iTrials). If everyone has Reactive, slot something else.Quote:Though outside of incarnate trial AVs, the stacking cap is rarely an issue.
I typically choose Degenerative for this purpose - sure, the 150 pt. Max HP Debuff is lolsauce on AV's, but the Toxic DoT is largely unresisted, and stacks with the Fire DoT's from the Reactive's the rest of your team is maxing out on -
It's not hard at all - that's not the issue. The issue being that with a smaller team the bosses do not spawn as Archvillains, thus reducing the XP per run, as well as losing the large team (7 or 8 members) XP bonus.
-
A possible viable alternative here would be the Musculature Radial Paragon
- it includes End Mod, along with the always useful Damage, reasonably useful Defense Debuff and To Hit Debuff, and even the marginally useful Run Speed and Immob buffs - your mileage may vary, but it's hard to go wrong with Musculature on a damage dealing character -
This is my experience as well - it takes about the same amount of time this way, as we're not waiting around for the timer once we've got all the grenades - also we get the Astral for getting the acids
Also, it's usually not too much of a hard sell to encourage people to wait the 90 seconds it takes for enough mobs to cluster around Marauder to get that Astral too - your mileage may vary -
Speed Lambda (which is exactly what you just described, only clearing the courtyard) has become the new default

Hey everyone!
Having just gotten my points allotment for the month, and realizing that I have enough points now for one or the other, but not both, I need input - which would you choose if you could only take one, and why?
P.S. - I decided to post this here because I plan to make a new Brute with whichever one I end up choosing...because let's face it - nothing says SMASH like BROOT! -
Utterly biased answer - Virtue
whether it's RP or non-RP you're looking for, the server seems pretty well populated night and day...and as for that nasty rumor that redside is dead...let's just say it's plenty lively if you know where to look -
No luck required - the I22 beta currently contains an LFG tool that will allow you to remain in queue while doing instanced missions - once that goes live, the hope is that pre-formed leagues will be a little bit less necessary than they are now
