radio/bank mission change

I know that the radio missions were set up so that your first cycle of missions leading to a bank mission had you complete three radio missions, then you get the bank mission, and then after that, you had to do five radio missions before getting a bank mission. Now, on my new mind/psi dom, I'm only getting three radio missions every time before getting a bank mission. When did this change?

(Trolls who insist it was always three radio missions before a bank mission will be ignored without prejudice. It seems every time I ask in the Help Channel when a certain change happened, I always get one git who claims it was always that way, no matter what change I'm asking about.)

The number of missions depends on the zone you are in. At low level zones (Kings Row, for instance) it is and has always been (as far as I know), three. When you work your way up to, say Peregrine Island, you have to complete five missions to get the bank mission.

That's how I remember it working since I started playing back in 2007, at least!

I believe it's 3 Radio/Paper missions to a Safeguard/Mayhem Mission up until level 20 or 25, and then after that it's 5 per.

Main Hero: Chad Gulzow-Man (Victory) 50, 1396 Badges
Main Villain: Evil Gulzow-Man (Victory) 50, 1193 Badges
Mission Architect arcs: Doctor Brainstorm's An Experiment Gone Awry, Arc ID 2093

Ok, because of this answer I went back to Paragon Wiki to look again. This time, under "Police Radio" I found this:
Quote:
"Once a Hero performs so many Police Scanner missions within a zone, the completion bar for a Detective in that zone will turn red, indicating that he/ she should talk to the Detective for a special assignment - a Safeguard Mission.

Heroes at Security Levels 5-15 will need to complete three (3) Police Scanner mission in order to get assigned to a Safeguard mission.
Heroes at Security Levels 16+ will need to complete five (5) Police Scanner mission in order to get assigned to a Safeguard mission."
The problem here is that my dom is level 19, and I started doing radios to get that last level to 20 in Steel. She's only getting three radio missions before getting a bank mission. That's why I was wondering when did this change. If, indeed, it's level 20 or 25 now, it looks like the Wiki page needs to be updated. At least that tells me it's a recent change.

I remembered it like Stabby said. In fact, I was in COV Beta when they made the change to the Newspaper missions because people were out leveling the low level zones before they could get to the Mayhem mission. I haven't participated in a Beta since, so I don't know if the reasoning changed when they set up Radio missions.

Teams are the number one killer of soloists.

As far as I've ever been able to tell, it depends on the zone, not your own level. Faultline goes up to level 24 or something, but the detective bar fills in 3 radios; Talos starts at level 20 and fills in 5 missions. So apparently the wiki is wrong on this one.

Hmmm, curiouser and curiouser...

I experimented with this a few weeks ago and IIRC found out: If you stay in Steel where the top Mobs are level 19, you can get radio missions there according to Steel's rules (3 then Bank) until level 22 (19+3).

But, if you move to Talos Island at level 20, you will be playing by its rules and need 5 radio for the Bank. Radio missions will be offered to you in Talos with a top mob level of 27 through level 30 (27+3).

Unless my memory is badly failing, that is how it worked for me then.

This is a correct description of the way that Radio/Newspaper missions work - playing primarily as a redsider I can confirm that you swtich from 3 to 5 missions at Sharkhead and above, which is the 1st lvl 20 zone.

I have also corrected the Wiki

@Mistress Rue
Yes, I RP and play Redside on Virtue - No, Rumors of its demise have been greatly exaggerated

Do you suck at COH/COV? not yet...

Cool, now we know.

Thanks for correcting the wiki, too.
